Dorothy Frances Van Amburgh
HOUSTON - Dorothy Frances Van Amburgh, 81, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004.
Preceded in death by her husband, L.H. (Van) Van Amburgh; parents, Franklin and Gertrude Lambert; brother, Larry Lambert; and daughter-in-law, Frances Kay Van Amburgh.
Survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Maggie Van Amburgh Sr. and Craig and Lynn Van Amburgh; daughters and sons-in-law, Kaaren and Fred Sullivan, Venita and Gary Keethler, Kathy and Don Hall and Pat and Tom Sturdevant; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Jean Lambert and Don and Bobbie Lambert; sisters and brother-in-law, Ethel Pena and Betty and Rev. Branson Thurston; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Family will receive friends Thursday, November 17, 2004, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004, in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Interment Memorial Oaks cemetery.

Joseph Plummer Ashburn
Odessa - Joseph Plummer Ashburn, age 96, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at his residence in Odessa.
He was born March 4, 1908, in West Union, West Virginia, to Joseph and Grace Ashburn. He served in the U.S. Army in the 141st Battalion in the 36th Infantry Div in the T-Patch Company. He retired from Gulf Oil Company in 1971. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Maudie Ashburn.
Survivors include great-neice Marlene Lybarger and a host of other loved one and friends.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Wayne Allen Terry Sr.
Odessa - Wayne Allen Terry Sr., 76, of Odessa, was born August 30, 1928 in Roscoe Texas. He passed away at Medical Center Hospital, November 23, 2004.
He moved from Odessa from Roscoe in the early 1940s. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended John Tarleton.
He was the owner of Terry Pest Control until he retired. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church, as well as a 32nd Degree Mason.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman … he loved hunting and fishing and training bird dogs. He had a passion for music, played guitar and enjoyed writing songs and poetry. Most of all he took great pride in spending time with his children and grandchildren in the outdoors teaching them to hunt and fish.
He is preceded in death by his parents Radford and Willie Ila Terry, and he is survived by his wife, Cleta Terry; sons, Wayne Terry Jr. and wife Mary Terry of Belton, Jason Terry and wife Billie Terry of Odessa, David Terry of Odessa, Mike Terry of San Angelo and Ronnie Terry of San Angelo; daughter, Debbie Franklin and husband Howard of Odessa; grandchildren, Pam Terry of Belton, Kim Terry of Washington, Austin Terry of San Angelo and Blake Terry
of Odessa; and one great- grandchild, Morgan Terry of Belton.

Flora A. Chavez
LOVING, N.M. - Flora A. Chavez, 76, of Odessa, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Avalon Place Nursing Center in Odessa.
A Funeral Mass for Flora Aragon Chavez will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday November 9, 2004, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Loving, N.M., with Father Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow in Loving cemetery. Arrangements are by West Funeral Home.
Flora Aragon Chavez was born July 24, 1928, in Sierra Blanca, Texas, to Hacensino and Guadalupe Jordan Aragon and raised in Loving, N.M. She married
Ismael Chavez on July 15, 1951, in Loving and they lived in Carlsbad until moving to Odessa, TX, in 1968. Flora was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting and was a dedicated, loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bobby and Cheno Aragon; and one sister, Mary Murray.
She is survived by her husband, Ismael of the family home; children, Velina Kendrick of Houston, TX, Virginia Craft, Rick Chavez, Osvaldo Chavez, and Linda Chavez all of Austin, TX, Terri Chavez, Patsy Chavez, Elaine Chavez, and Pamella Chavez, all of Houston, TX; brothers, Emilio and Angel Aragon, both of Carlsbad; sisters, Gloria Martinez and Eloisa Munoz, both of Carlsbad; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Chavez, Gilbert Chavez, Adrian Munoz, Lorenzo Munoz, Arturo Chavez and Manuel Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Chavez, Michael Munoz and Randy Galindo.
Bernis Lee Lincoln Sr.
ODESSA - Bernis Lee Lincoln Sr. followed his angel sent by GOD to Glory at 3:55 on November 6, 2004, in Monahans, TX. Also known by many as “Kootsie” and others as “Pappy” was born on the blessed day of September 17, 1933, in Texarkana, Texas, to Mose Wesley and Minnie Ola Lincoln. He was the fourth oldest of nine brothers and two sisters. He grew up as a youngster who picked, pulled and chopped cotton.
He eventually moved and settled in Odessa, Texas, in 1941, where he attended and graduated from Blackshear High School and Odessa College where he studied Law Enforcement and received all his credentials as a trained officer for the City Of Odessa.
On October 11, 1953, he married
his lovely wife, Dorthey Mae Stokes, whom together bore three loving children, Bernis Lee Lincoln Jr., Julia D Lincoln-Smith and Miriam “Penny” Lincoln-Harris, and the addition of his two sons-in-law, Clifton Smith and Marshall Harris.
Bernis is the proud grandfather of LaToya Lincoln of Ft. Worth; Ebony Lincoln, currently stationed in Germany. Tere Harris, BreAndrea Harris, Tia Harris and Jewelya, Summer and Shaquille Smith. And even prouder great-grandfather of two, Montashia Lincoln, 11, and Demetris Lincoln, one week. Bernis was a Police Officer from July 1, 1966 until January 31, 1998, when he retired. As an officer of the Odessa Police Department, he received numerous awards, commendations and his own appreciation date. May 7 dedicated to him by the Castenette Social, Civil, and Art Club of Odessa. Bernis has trained lots of “rookies” and had lots of partners but his favorite one was “Little Brother.”
Prior to joining the Odessa Police Department, he was a Lifeguard and instructor for Ector County and delivered flowers and while still in school, in June 1951, he began working as floor sweeper, window dresser and stock to work himself into the position as the Stock Manager for 20 years at Walgreens, thus retiring, June 1, 1971. Along with working as a dedicated employee of Walgreens and the City, he provided security at Winwood Mall, the Village Market and most all sports events. In 1979, he realized and stated that Ector County needed a change and in 1980, he ran for sheriff. Unfortunately, he did not win, which he felt was a loss to the County. However, he did not give up the fight for justice.
Bernis loved his family and life. His hobbies and interests were FISHING, hunting, woodworks, treasure hunting and puffing his cigar.
Bernis fought the good fight but the Lord had other work that he needed him to do.
So if you are looking for him, by whatever name you know him by, Kootie, Daddy, Big Daddy, Bernis, Pappy, Unc, Lanc, Lincoln or simply Mr. Lincoln, know this....HE’S GONE FISHING!!!!!
Bernis was preceded in death by: parents; five brothers, John, Alonzo, Charles and Verdell Lincoln and Robert Hall; and sister, Ruby Herndon.
Bernis is survived by his wife, Dorthey Lincoln; son, Bernis Lincoln Jr. of Odessa; daughters, Julia and husband, Clifton, of Monahans and Miriam “Penny” Lincoln Harris and husband, Marshall, of Lubbock; brothers, Aron Lincoln of Paris, Texas, Robert “Son” Lincoln of Florida, and Bobby Dean Lincoln of Virginia Beach, Va; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with family to greet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend Roy Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill cemetery.

Kenneth Ewell Powell
ODESSA - Kenneth Ewell Powell, 72, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born December 28, 1931, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Ewell J. and Ollie Mae (Benham) Powell. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1957. Kenneth married
Georgia Baird October 31, 1962, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He had worked as a movie theater manager for Video Independent Theaters and other theaters in the area. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia of Odessa; son, Kenneth Lee Powell of New Milford, Connecticut; daughter, Patricia Huntley of Big Spring; sister, Wanda King of Odessa; two grandchildren, Scotty Carson of Ozona and Misty Johnson of Big Spring; and two nephews, Michael King of Odessa and Mark King of Odessa.
Alice Winstead
ODESSA - Alice Winstead, 61, of Odessa, a homemaker, died late Saturday evening at the Hospice House after a long battle with cancer.
She was born April 19, 1943, in Lincoln, Arkansas.
Her father Emmitt Owens, her mother Lilly Owens and her oldest son Emmitt Lee Bryant-Turner precede her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Winstead of Odessa, TX; her sons, Alvin Turner of Casper, WY., and Jason Turner of Odessa, TX; two brothers, Allan Owens of Longmont, CO., and Donnie Owens of St. Peters, Mo. Her sister Zilla Brown of Olathe, CO.; three grandsons; a very special cousin Leila Armstrong of Woodward, OK.; a very special friend Ginger Ishmael of Vici, OK.; and numerous other family and friends.

Bill Isbell
Odessa - Bill Isbell, 54, of Odessa, died Friday, December 3, 2004.
He was born October 26, 1950, in Wellington, Texas. On February 23, 1972, he married
Terressa Isbell in Clovis, N.M. Bill worked as a store manager at Lowe’s Marketplace in Odessa, Texas. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Bill is survived by his wife Terressa Isbell of Odessa; his son Robert Isbell and wife Stephanie; daughters, Carissa Isbell, Whitney Isbell, Courtney Isbell, Ashley Smith and husband Devin. His grandchildren are Shawn and Rylan Isbell.

Vivian Elaine Lindenberg
Odessa - Elaine Weaver Lindenberg, 53, of Odessa, passed away Friday, December 3rd, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born July 20, 1951, in Pampa, Texas, to her parents, Jake and Faye Weaver. Jake, her stepfather John Coleman, and her daughter Christine have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lindenberg was married
to Harry Lindenberg on June 6, 1984. She was a homemaker, and a graduate of Midland High School class of 1969, where she marched in the band and excelled in all her pursuits.
She attended Sherwood Baptist Church with her family and friends. She had a deep love of dogs and adopted many, including Precious, throughout her life. Her mother was her very best friend and solid foundation, the four grandchildren were the twinkle of her eye, and her husband her soulmate. A woman full of compassion, forgiveness, love and abundant laughter, she will be remembered as Gigi to her grandchildren, and Harry will always be their Googoo.
She is survived by her husband, Harry; her mother, Faye Weaver Coleman; her daughter, Kelly Weaver Smith, all of Odessa; her brother, Greggory K. Weaver of Marietta, Georgia; her sister, Brenda Bridges of San Angelo; her grandchildren, Amber, Zachary, Autumn and Joshua; her aunt, Betty Snapp of Waterwood, Texas; cousins, Sheila Wood, Cheryl Gardenhire, Marla Byerly, Butch Thompson, Jack Thompson, Mancil Davis and hosts of other aunts, cousins, and nephews.
Memorial Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel with Pastor Clydell Chapman presiding.
Family visitation will be Sunday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sunset Gardens Funeral Home.
