Bernice Vannoy
MIDLAND - Frances Bernice Vannoy, of Midland, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005.
She was born December 8, 1931, to Charlie Leonard Hale and Nettie Elizabeth Pace Hale in Loraine, Texas. On December 24, 1949, she married
Robert Dewayne Vannoy in Stanton, Texas. Bernice was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jean Ann Padgett and Mayme McFerrin.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Dewayne Vannoy of Midland, TX; sons, Irvin W. Vannoy and wife, Carolyn, and Morris G. Vannoy and wife, Pamala, all of Midland, TX; brothers, Doyle Hale of Stanton, TX, Bill Hale of Brownwood, TX, Hubert Hale of Stanton, TX, Charles Hale of Stanton, TX, and Kenneth Hale of Procter, TX; sisters, Averill Badgett of Midland, TX, Lura Davis of Midland, TX, and Betty Crocker of Big Spring, TX; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Monday, January 3, 2005, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park-North.

Phillip R. Watson
ODESSA - Phillip R. Watson, age 39, passed away at his residence on Friday, December 31, 2004.
He was born June 17, 1965, to Fred and Greta Watson in Odessa. He was self-employed and a member of the Church of Christ.
Phillip graduated from the Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship in 1988.
God led Phillip by paths he did not know, upward God led him though Phillip was slow, though he was faint and faltered on the way, though storm and darkness off obscured the day; yet when the clouds were gone, Phillip knew he was safely home.
God led Phillip on through all the unquiet past, all his dreamland, hopes and doubts and fears. God guided his steps through all the tangled mazes, of losses, sorrows, too overclouded. Phillip knew God’s will was done this year, and God led Phillip safely to his glorious home. God Bless.
Survivors include his mother, Greta Watson of Odessa; father, Fred Watson of Houston; daughter, Kiara Watson of Odessa; brothers, Daniel King of Austin, TX, Virgil King of Matagorda, TX, Arron King of Odessa, Kevin Watson and his wife, Mimi, of Odessa, David Watson of Sweetwater and Robert Watson of Dallas; sisters, Angela Pearce and husband, Verle Pearce Jr. of Odessa and Freddie Fain of Desota, TX.; nieces, Holly King, Kayla Pearce and Darlene King; nephews, Ryan Watson, Matthew King, Scott Pearce, D J Cranfill and Johnathan Cranfill, all of Odessa.

Estelle Windsor
ODESSA - Services for Estelle Windsor, age 85, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2004, at Sherwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Hiser officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Windsor passed away January 1, 2005, in Kingsland, TX.
Pallbearers will be from the Masonic Lodge.
Estelle Jones was born April 10, 1919, in Van Alstyne, TX. Her family moved to Odessa where Estelle grew up and attended Odessa High School.
She married
J. Burke Windsor on December 27, 1935. Their marriage lasted 57 years until Burke’s passing in 1992.
Estelle worked for Everybody’s grocery store for 43 years. She started as a cashier and later became the Office Manager.
Estelle was very proud of over 50 years of dedicated service to Eastern Star. She was a member of the Floyd Easterling Chapter where she held many office including Worthy Matron on two occasions as well as all of the stations.
Estelle was a faithful member of Sherwood Baptist Church. She moved to the Marble Falls-Kingsland area in 2000.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Mike and Sandra Windsor of Marble Falls, TX., and Dustin and Carol Windsor of Houston; five grandchildren, Lisa, Mike Jr., Brian, Dusty and Blake; and three great-grandchildren, Ellie, Saffron and Andrew.

Frances Adcock
ODESSA - Frances Adcock, 86, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at her residence. She was born June 3, 1924, in DeQueen, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of the Resurrection United Methodist Church. She married
Clyde A. Adcock in 1942 in Broken Bow, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Hazel Norwood; her husband, Clyde A. Adcock in 1998; son, Don Eugene Adcock; and brothers, Ben and Don Norwood.
She is survived by her sons, Clyde Adcock Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Lafayette, La., and Steve Adcock and wife, Sue, of Cedar Hill, TX.; four grandchildren, Zachary and Taylor Adcock of Cedar Hill and Jennifer and Susan Adcock of Houston.
There will be a visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Matthew Gary officiating.

Carl R. Ashley
MIDLAND - Carl Robert Ashley, 79, of Midland, Texas, left earth to join his loving wife Nina in Heaven on Thursday, December 16, 2004.
Carl was born November 28, 1925, to Robert Clifford and Tessie Lewis Ashley in Crossville, Alabama. He married
Nina Cofield on June 6, 1942, in Newnan, Georgia. They lived in Hobbs, New Mexico, for 30 years, moving there in 1953. In 1983, they moved back to Newnan, Georgia, and in 1991, they moved to Midland, Texas. While in Hobbs, New Mexico, he was the owner and operator of C&C Motors. Carl served honorably and well in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II enlisting in 1942, and receiving his discharge in 1946. He was a member of Men Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and Cuthbert Avenue Baptist Church.
Carl loved the Lord, his family and the Atlanta Braves.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nina Ashley; one grandchild, Lindy Hickingbottom; his parents; and sister, Gladys White.
Carl is survived by his son, Alton Ashley of Ashdown, Ark; daughters, Shiela Anderson and husband, Perry, of Odessa, TX, and Carlann McBroom and husband, Don, of Midland, TX; son, Robert Ashley of Nashville, Tenn; grandchildren, Scott Ashley and wife, Terri, Dawn Allen and husband, Bryan, Todd Cullison and wife, Audra, Jody Ashley and wife, Brenda, Cliff McBroom and wife, Caryl, Shane Ashley and wife, Valerie, Matt Cullison, Jared Ashley, Vanessa Ashley, Tisha Corcoran, Amy Anderson, Brian Anderson and Josh Ashley; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Opal Moore of Opelika, Ala.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Midland, Texas, with Reverend H.W. Erwin, Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. (MST) Saturday at Prairie Haven Memorial Park cemetery in Hobbs, New Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Ora Alice Smithee Bradford
ODESSA - Ora Alice Smithee Bradford departed this life on December 16, 2004, at the age of 96. Ora was born December 6, 1908, in Haskell County, Texas, to Giles and Zilla Smithee. She was the last of eleven children. Her parents and all of her siblings preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death in September 1980 by her husband of 46 years, James Emmett Bradford. An infant daughter, and a granddaughter, and her two sons-in-law, as well as a number of nieces and nephews also preceded her. She is survived by her children, James A. Bradford and wife, Nancy, of Littleton, Colo., Norma Jean Mckim of Odessa, TX., and Gail Green of Midland, TX. She leaves six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Our mother was a kind and gentle soul that loved her children and always cared for us anyway she could until she had to leave us. She was well loved by us and all who had an opportunity to know her. She will be missed.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004, in Ranger, TX, at Evergreen cemetery.

Charles E. Dick
ODESSA - Charles E. Dick, “Papa”, 74, of Odessa, left this life to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 16, 2004. Charles was born March 23, 1931, in Olden, TX. He married
Anita Yvonne Tankersley Dick on June 7, 1953, in Eastland, TX. Yvonne and Charles lived in Kermit for 47 years, 44 of which were in the same home. Yvonne passed away on January 7, 2003.
Charles later married
Bettye Smith on March 12, 2004, who remained by his side until he passed. He is also survived by one sister, Barbara Sims; four daughters, Bunny Chapman of Andrews, and Valerie Duncan and husband, Joe, Cynthia McNabb and husband, Bobby, and Jana Drake, all of Odessa; son, Michael Dick and wife, Deena, of Shallowater, TX; and one nephew, Winston Dick of Odessa. Charles is also survived by his grandchildren, Rebekah Welch, Rita Shrum, Steven and Trevor Duncan, Lori Richie, Justin and Kara McNabb and Nathana Overly, Jyl and Beau Dick, Lindsay and Landon Drake and Meghan Clark. He also had five great-grandchildren, Bridgett House and Heather Robinson, and Hunter Richie, Ashley Shrum, and Hayden Overly.
He is also survived by his stepson, Steve Smith, and wife, Kiera, and their daughters, Keena Traylor and Kasha Urban, and husband Fred Urban. Stepson’s Greg Smith and wife, Blaine, and one stepdaughter, Sara Lange and husband, Andy. Grandchildren are Keena Traylor, Kasha Urban, Jesamy Smith, Toni Smith, Leah Lange and Lisa Lange. Great-grandchildren are Trey, Tara, and Tori Urban and Dylen Smith. He loved
his grandchildren, great grandchildren and children dearly, in the knowledge that one day they will all be reunited.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, December 18, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Kingston Avenue Baptist Church in Odessa with Rev. John Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Alice A. Willis
ODESSA - Alice A. Willis, 94, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Avalon Place. She was born August 20, 1910, in Brownwood, TX. She married
Van Willis December 23, 1936, in Brownwood. She and her husband had two children. They moved to Odessa in January 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church. She had worked for the Ector County Independent School District Transportation Department for nearly 20 years.
She was a devoted wife and mother and loved people and had a smile and encouraging word for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband Van Willis in 1985; her parents, Joe and Molly Tyler; five brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Duvall of Odessa; grandson, Sam Lichenstein and wife, Jetahn, of Midland; and two great-granddaughters, Courtnie and Cheyenne.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2004, at
Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.

James Wesley ‘Jim’ Allbright
ODESSA - On Saturday, December 25, 2004, James Allbright “Jim” met the Lord after a lengthy illness. He was at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jim lived his life in Monahans and Odessa. He was born to Calvin and Lucille Allbright on July 26, 1945. He married
his sweetheart and best friend Beverly Duckworth on March 8, 1963, in Abilene, TX. He served in the Navy on the U.S.S. La Salle and was honorably discharged in 1966. He returned to Odessa and established Allbright and Associates Inc. at 8011 Andrews Hwy. He and Beverly and their three sons own and operate the company.
Jim was well respected and served his community at every opportunity. He was a member of the VFW, Elks, and was an honorary member of the West Odessa Volunteer Fire Dept. Jim’s pet project has been the on-going backing and fund raising for the Volunteer Fire Department of West Odessa. They made him an honorary member and will serve as pallbearers.
Jim and Beverly have resided at 5601 Wyoming in Odessa since 1977. Jim is survived by his wife, Beverly and their three sons. His greatest joy in life is his family and he was especially proud of his sons and grandchildren. His sons are Jimmy Allbright and wife, Starla, son, Michael and wife, Kristi, and son, Jay, and six grandchildren, Misty and Joshua, Lyndzie, Emily, John Michael, and Kyle James, all of Odessa, TX. Jim has a sister, Janice Slaton of Odessa and a nephew, Barney Eckert of Crowley. Barney and Jim have had a life long close relationship. Jim was loved by all who knew him and our family will miss him always.
The family will have a visitation at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 28, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Don Fankhauser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
