Eva Hagelstein
ODESSA - Eva Lyn Hagelstein, 49, beloved sister and aunt, died December 20, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born on October 22, 1955, in San Angelo, Texas, the daughter of Hans and Evelyn (Gregg) Hagelstein. She attended Alta Elementary, Lee Jr. High and San Angelo Central High School, where she graduated in 1973. She also attended Angelo State University. She was employed by Pool Well Servicing for seven years and then GTE Directories in San Angelo for 10 years. She had resided in Odessa since 1998. She was currently employed by Saulsbury Industries in Odessa, where she was a safety clerk.
Eva loved her two cats, Sophie and Handy, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed many crafts (needlepoint, knitting and counted cross stitch) and collected Hallmark Christmas ornaments.
She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by brother, Gregg Hagelstein and wife, Kristin, of Odessa and brother, Bryan Hagelstein and wife, Debbie, of San Angelo. She is also survived by nieces, Jill Hagelstein of Austin and Riley Ussery and husband, John, of Conway, Arkansas. She is survived by nephews, Andrew Hagelstein of Odessa and John and Justin Hagelstein of Lubbock and San Angelo. She is also survived by other family, Carla Harless and husband, Michael, and their children, Hillary, Bronte and Brody, all of Odessa, and Neil Collinsworth and wife, Amy, and their children, Alyssa and Seth, all of Forney.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Frank W. Wilson Chapel with Rev. Nora Fitch officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Fairmont cemetery in San Angelo. Family visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood, Odessa, Texas.
Eva suggested memorials to Sierra Vista Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas, where she was a life long member. Also, memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Odessa, Hospice House of Odessa and Hospice of San Angelo, as well as anyone’s favorite charity.

Everett Arnold Liebscher
ODESSA - Everett Arnold Liebscher, 82, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2004, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Frank W. Wilson Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Everett was born May 20, 1922, in West Columbia, Texas, to Alvin Liebscher and Antonia McCoy. He served his country in the U.S. Army from September 24, 1942, to November 5, 1945. He married
Ada Owen on May 22, 1958, in Midland, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was employed as a pumper at Mobil Oil for 32 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Faye Cox of Odessa and Sheila Blair of Hamilton, TX; stepdaughter, Ramona Nora Peeples of El Paso; brother, Charles Vastine of La Jolla, Calif.; sister, Esther Parmelly of Odessa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Hobbs, N.M. - Alpha Louise Anderson, 81, of Odessa, a former cook, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa.

She was born in Shamrock, Okla. She was Baptist.

Vernon R. Branscum
Odessa - Vernon R. Branscum, 76, of Odessa, a retired oilfield worker and caser, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in Odessa.

He was born in Artesia, N.M. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

William Calvin Burke
ODESSA - William Calvin Burke of Odessa went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, December 14, 2004, after a prolonged illness. He was born June 7, 1927, to Samuel and Bessie Burke of Anadarko, Oklahoma. Calvin married
the love of his life, Patsy Ruth King, on November 23, 1945, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They shared the next fifty-nine years side-by-side. Calvin and Pat moved to Monahans, Texas in 1956, where he worked for Frost Bakery until transferring to Odessa. Calvin worked for Frost Bakery for 26 years. In 1982, he purchased Globe Cleaners in Odessa, which he owned and operated until his death.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; eight sisters; seven brothers; and one great-grandson. Calvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. More than anything Calvin loved his family, each and every one. He was affectionately known as “Papa Burke” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Pat; daughter, Donna Vaughn and her husband, Ronnie; daughter, Patsy Berry and her husband, Jay; and daughter, Debbie Harris, all of Midland. Ten grandchildren, Corey Harrison, Cari McNutt and her husband, Clint McNutt, of Odessa, Brian Vaughn and his wife, Leighana, of Andrews, Meredith Jumper of San Antonio, Jason Jumper and his wife, Leah, of Amarillo, Derrick Berry of Plano, Jaden Berry of Midland, Jennifer Creek and her husband, Matt, of Midland, Steve Jumper and his wife, Christy, of Midland, and Stephanie Grace and her husband, Johnny, of Dallas; six great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kara and Kahler Vaughn of Andrews, Braden Jumper of Amarillo, and Julianna Berry and Railea Creek of Midland, Texas. Calvin’s other enjoyment in life was his fishing and spending time at his place at the lake in Colorado City, Texas. Calvin was a member of Immanual Baptist Church. Pallbearers are Corey Harrison, Brian Vaughn, Jason Jumper, Derrick Berry, Jaden Berry and Clint McNutt.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Immanual Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give special thanks to his private caregiver, Tiffaney York, Hospice of Odessa and Pastor Bill Cook and his wife Dorothy.

Sadegh Khaki
ODESSA - Sadegh Khaki, 86, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2004, at his residence. He was born January 1, 1918, to Gholamshah Khaki and Mahi Soltan in Khorambad, Iran.
He married
Parvin Hajhabibzadeh on October 31, 1955, in Khoramabad, Iran, and worked in Iran for the Bureau of Land Management. He was of the Muslim faith.
Survivors include his wife, Parvin Hajhabibzadeh of Odessa; sons, Nader Khaki and wife, Kathy, of Odessa, and Farhad Khaki of California; daughters, Nooshin Khaki and husband, Abbas Kheyri, of Iran, and Mandana Khaki and husband, Amin Ghamsari, of Canada; three brothers; five sisters; and four grandchildren, Shoreh Kheyri, Sharzad Kheyri, Mahtab Ghamsari and Kourosh Ghamsari.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Elsie Martin Alcorn
ODESSA - Elsie Martin Alcorn, 93, of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2004. She was born June 27, 1911, in Tankersly, Texas, to David and Lily Martin, who were early pioneers in Tom Green County. She went to school in Tom Green County and graduated from San Angelo Business School in 1929, and worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. She married
Lloyd Alcorn in San Angelo, July 9, 1930. They moved to Ector County in 1934, where they made their home where Lloyd became instrumental in the early development of the Permian Basin oil field. They celebrated their 70th anniversary together on July 9, 2000, with all of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with them. They were proud to have four children, eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Elsie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her first grandchild called her Mema and she has been known as Mema by everyone since then.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband; her two oldest daughters; her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Grace Van Cleve of Arlington, TX; and son, Lloyd Alcorn Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Waco, TX; and the eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Donna Newton and her family as she was Mema’s friend and closest companion during her last several years.
The family would also like to thank Hospice House of Odessa for the tender love and care given to Mema. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House of Odessa.

ODESSA - Andrew Ray Gonzales, 27, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2004, in Odessa. Andrew was a Christian and was born November 22, 1977, in Pecos to father, Larry A. Gonzales, and mother, Delma Dominguez Rubio.
Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home. Chapel services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Gonzales of Odessa; daughters, Jacklyn Gonzales of Houston and Isama Gonzales and Julie Gonzales, both of Odessa; sons, Abraham G. Hernandez of Ft. Worth and Andrew R. Gonzales Jr. and Angel A. Gonzales, both of Odessa; father and stepmother, Larry A. Gonzales and Norma Gonzales, both of Odessa; mother, Delma D. Rubio of Ft. Worth; maternal grandparents, Apolonio (Paul) and Maria Rubio of Pecos; paternal grandfather, Lorenzo Gonzales of San Jose, CA; sister, Rachelle Young of Odessa; and brothers, Micheal Paul Rubio of Ft. Worth, Anthony R. Gonzales of Clayton, N.M., and Jeremy Young of Odessa.

Mills Scales Jr.
ODESSA - Mills Scales Jr., 42 years of age, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Mr. Scales worked with the Texas Highway Department as a road worker for 15 years before he retired. Mills was born June 7, 1962, in Rankin, Texas, to father, Mills Scales Sr., and mother, Asline Walker, whom both have preceded him in death.
Mr. Scales is survived by his sisters, Reba Pettis of El Paso and Lillie Lavern Scales of Odessa; two aunts, Mildred Moore of Odessa and Lola Watkins of Killeen, TX; three uncles, Leroy Walker of Killeen, TX, Lester Walker of Rosebud, TX, and Henry Scales of Augusta, Georgia; two nieces, Mahogany and Reba La Sha Scales, both of Odessa; and three nephews, Quinton, Ryan, and Patrick Pettis, all of El Paso, TX.
Visitation will be today and tomorrow at Martinez Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Chapel Services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Martinez Funeral Home with Rev. L.H. Degrate officiating and graveside services at 12 noon Sat. at Garden of Memories cemetery in McCamey, TX.
Alice A. Willis
ODESSA - Alice A. Willis, 94, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Avalon Place. She was born August 20, 1910, in Brownwood, TX. She married
Van Willis December 23, 1936, in Brownwood. She and her husband had two children. They moved to Odessa in January 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church. She had worked for the Ector County Independent School District Transportation Department for nearly 20 years.
She was a devoted wife and mother and loved people and had a smile and encouraging word for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Willis in 1985; her parents, Joe and Molly Tyler; five brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Duvall of Odessa; grandson, Sam Lichenstein and wife, Jetahn, of Midland; and two great-granddaughters, Courtnie and Cheyenne.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
