Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Cuthbert Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Knight officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home of Midland.
Roy was born in Sanger. He was Baptist.

MARFA — Ellen Ruth Livingston, 97, a retired school teacher, died Friday, Oct. 1 in Fort Davis.

She was born in Marfa.

BRECKENRIDGE — Maurine Williams, 90, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, Oct. 1 at an Odessa retirement home.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Breckenridge cemetery with Bobby Williams officiating. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Aubrey. She was Church of Christ.

Steve Rhodes
Odessa - Steve Rhodes, age 60, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at Alliance Hospital.
He was born Jan. 17, 1944, to Hoy E. and Elma Rhodes in Odessa. He married
Pat Phillips on Aug. 5, 1963. He was a heavy equipment operator for G & G.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hoy in 1965; mother, Elma in 1969; and son, Stephen in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Rhodes; son, Calvin Rhodes and wife Lori; daughter, Patricia Park and husband Robert; brother, Gary Rhodes; and sister, Mary Dennis, all of Odessa; and grandchildren, Kenneth and Dalton Hays and Dillon, Amanda and Blake Rhodes.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Vernon R. Branscum
ODESSA - Vernon R. Branscum of Odessa passed away Thursday, December 9, 2004, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 22, 1928, in Artesia, New Mexico, to James Richard and Chloa Branscum. He was the sixth of eight children.
Seaman 1st Class Branscum joined the U.S. Navy and proudly defended his country in the Pacific theater during WWII, serving on both the USS Bosque and the USS Vulcan. He was a member of the first U.S. occupational troops to Hiroshima, Japan after the bomb was dropped. He remained proud of his service to this country to the end. Upon his discharge he moved to Odessa, where he met Lucille Boland. Their first date was on April 16, 1947, and they were married
on January 6, 1948, sharing the next fifty-six years side-by-side.
Together they had five children, sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Vernon worked in the oilfields of West Texas and was well known as a Caser and Field Representative for Red’s Casing Crews.
Vernon will be remembered for the love he had for everyone he knew. Vernon always had a song in his heart and would sing for anyone who would sit and listen. He loved to Bar-B-Q and he loved making milk shakes for his grandkids.
More than anything Vernon loved his family, each and every one. He was preceded in death by his son, James Kelly Branscum. Vernon is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughter, Karen May and her husband, Marc; daughter, Diane Wright and her husband, Eddie; daughter, Linda Miller and her husband, Charlie; and son, Stacy Branscum and his wife, Diana. He is also survived by his sixteen grandchildren, Brian Hamilton, Trey Shelton, Travis Miller, Tamara Shelton, Chad May, Jon Wright, Amanda Branscum, Bonnie Branscum, Clayton Miller, Natasha Branscum, Dustin Branscum, J.R. Branscum, Megan May, Macy May, Laura Catherine Branscum, and Tricia Branscum. Vernon’s great-grandchildren are Kelly Allen, Joshua, Josiah, Dylan, Coby, Madison, Skylar, Blane, Adam, Noah, Makaila, Morgan, Breanne and Katlyn. Vernon is also survived by three sisters, Opal Self of Odessa, Naoma Welch of Burnet, TX, and Shirley Johnson of Austin, TX. He passed in peace with the loving care of Odyssey Hospice.
Services are scheduled for Sunday, December 12, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel with Reverend Jay Mayo officiating.
Jeanne P. Card
FORT STOCKTON - Mrs. Jeanne P. Card, 86, of Fort Stockton, TX, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004.
She was born March 10, 1918, in Hagerman, N.M., to Clarence C. and Winifred Mae Pritchard. On July 3, 1940, she married
W.L. “Dub” Card in Pecos, Texas. In 1966, they moved to Fort Stockton, TX, where Mrs. Card was a longtime member of the Fort Stockton Garden Club and many bridge clubs. She was active in the Homebound Ministry of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 18, 1994.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Fort Stockton with the Rev. Bob Cheek officiating. Burial will follow at the East Hill cemetery. Services by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She is survived by two sons, W.L. Card Jr. and wife, Martha, of Pecos, TX, and Robert Card and wife, Sarah, of Fort Stockton, TX; two daughters, Connie Phillips and husband, Fred, of Odessa, TX, and Pat Dunagan and husband, Dan, of Alpine, TX; sister, Helen Orrison and husband, Lowell, of Roswell, N.M.; brother, Stuart Pritchard and wife, Rita, of Roswell, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Manuela Carrasco DeLaO
ODESSA - Manuela Carrasco DeLaO, 104 years of age, passed away on December 8, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born on July 29, 1900, in Ojinaga, Mexico. She was a homemaker and Catholic. She married
Jose DeLaO on November 4, 1920, he preceded her in death along with her sons, Enrique, Henry, Frank and Pete DeLaO, and daughter, Mercedes Fierrro.
Surviving are her son, Jose DeLaO and wife, Josie, of Odessa; daughter, Frances Rios and husband, Pascual, of Odessa; 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2004, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine with Reverend Rick Ruiz officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Angels cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank DeLaO Jr., Joe DeLaO Jr., Adalberto DeLaO, Ricky Rios, Derrick DeLaO and Victor Carrasco. Dr. Stanley Eugene Lassa
ODESSA - Stanley E. Lassa, O.D., 74, of Odessa, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004. He was born May 6, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stanley W. Lassa and Clara Lassa, whom both preceded him in death. He married
Dolores M. Eddleman on November 1, 1950.
Stanley served his country during the Korean War as a Yeoman to the Commander of the 9th Naval District. After his discharge from the Navy, he started his college education at Cleveland State University receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and then furthered his education at Case Western Reserve with a Master’s degree in Marketing. At the age of 40, he went back to school and received his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston. After graduating, he moved his family to Odessa and began his optometry practice for twenty-eight years at Texas State Optical which is now Lassa Optical Co.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Dolores M. Lassa; son, Dr. Lawrence Lassa; daughter; Laura and husband, Gary Callendar; two grandchildren, Courtney and Brandon Callendar, both of Odessa; and aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Grabowski of Cleveland, Ohio.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him.
A rosary has been scheduled for Sunday, December 12, 2004, at 7 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel. Funeral services have been scheduled for Monday, December 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Ed Vrazel and Father Mark Woodruff officiating. Military entombment with VFW honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Aleta Beth Salyards
ODESSA - Aleta Beth Salyards, age 57, of Odessa, died Thursday, December 9, 2004, at her residence. She was born January 20, 1947, in Pampa, TX, to Melvin and Mavis Patterson.
She graduated from Permian High School in 1965. She married
Dennis Salyards, August 19, 1967, in Odessa; they own Dean’s Marine, Inc. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Dean Salyards of Odessa; mother, Mavis Whitfield-Patterson-West of Odessa; son, Daryl Dean Salyards and wife, Jennifer, and granddaughter, Karsen Jane, of Ft. Worth; brother, Gary Dale Patterson and sister-in-law, Barbara, of Amarillo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Cheryl Salyards, of Cypress; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gary and Donna Cannon of Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2004, at Highland United Methodist Church with Mark Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
