John Garner White Sr.
MONAHANS - John Garner White Sr., 72, of Monahans, died Sunday, January 9, 2005, at Hospice House of Odessa.
He was born January 4, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to George Marion and Effie Mae (Hodge) White. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a salesman in the oilfield, and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge.
Services have been set for 2 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2005, at First Baptist Church of Monahans. Burial will follow in Monahans cemetery, under the direction of Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
Survivors include his sons, Jimmy White and wife, Mary, of Bastrop, and Ruben Aquilar and wife, Liz, of Odessa. Also his daughter, Connie Bedrick and husband, Steve, of Odessa. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene White of Sulpher, Louisiana, and Robert “Bob” White of Wickett; and two sisters, Pat Smith of Monahans and Shirley Grahmann of San Antonio, Texas. Also by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His faithful companion was his precious dog, Shadow.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Garner (Butch) White Jr. and a sister, Mary Flowers.
The family will receive visitors at Family Funeral Services in Monahans, on Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Raymond White
HEREFORD - Raymond White, 82, longtime Hereford, TX, resident, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital in Amarillo, TX.
Funeral services are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford, TX and will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Hereford with Reverend Terry Cosby officiating. The family will have a private interment. Mr. White was born January 7, 1922, in Lockney, TX, the youngest son of William and Myrtie White. He graduated from Sudan High School in 1939, and Texas Tech University in 1947. He married
Avis Herring on January 29, 1944, in Lubbock, TX.
Raymond was a veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps as a Flight Instrument Trainer from 1943 to 1945. He moved to Hereford from Friona in 1955. Raymond owned and operated H & W Implement and then White Implement Company in Hereford for over 42 years until his retirement in 1997. For over 50 years, he was a member of First Baptist Church and the Hereford Lions Club.
Raymond served on the Hereford School Board for eight years, Past President of the Deaf Smith Chamber of Commerce, Board of the Region 16 Education Service Center in Amarillo, received a 50 year Perfect Attendance Member of the Hereford Lions Club, was the President of the Hereford Lions Club from 1964-1965, District Governor Lions International from 1972-1973, Past President of Past District Governor’s Association of Texas, Past president and Board of Directors of the Texas Lions Camp (Kerrville, TX), President and Drive Chairman of the United Way and was a Deacon, (former Chairman) and Choir member of the First Baptist Church of Hereford.
Raymond also received a Lifetime Membership with Girlstown, U.S.A., the Lion’s Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award, the Hereford Citizen of the Year Award in 1974, Hereford Whiteface Booster Club Fan of the Year in 2001, Honorary Lifetime Membership with Lions International, the Melvin Jones Fellow in Lions International, was elected to the Texas Lions Hall of Fame and was a century Club Member and Jack Weich Fellow of the Texas Lions Camp.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Shaw and husband, Sid, of Hereford, TX, and Sherry Talley and husband, Randy, of Odessa, TX; one son, J. Chris White and wife, Janis, of Williamston, Michigan; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Avis; and nine brothers and sisters.

Mass will be said at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Saragosa with the Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be at Saragosa cemetery. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home of Odessa.
He was born in Saragosa. He was Catholic.

Fort Stockton - Eunice Johnson, 79, of Fort Stockton, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, in Odessa.

She was born in Olney, Ill.

William ‘Bill’ Brooks Jr.
ODESSA - William “Bill” Brooks Jr., 86, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. He was born February 18, 1918, in Mission, TX, and reared in Mooringsport, La.
Bill came to West Texas after high school to work for the Gulf Oil Corporation as a summer employee. After attending Baylor University, Bill moved to Odessa to work for Gulf Oil Co. On May 15, 1941, he married
Dorothy “Dot” Johnson.
In 1942, Bill enlisted in the Army Engineers. After basic training, he attended officer’s candidate school graduating as a Second Lieutenant. He was stationed at March Field, California and Tacoma, Washington. He was sent overseas with the 1875th Engineer Battalion in January of 1944 and spent two years in India, Burma and North Africa, returning to the States in January of 1946 as a Captain.
He and Dorothy had three children, Debbie, Bill III and Mike. In 1948, he went to work for Permian Mud Service as an engineer and salesman. In 1967, he and a partner started Star Insulation Company. Bill retired in 1977.
He was a Director at Texas Commerce/Chase Bank for twenty years and a member of Odessa Country Club. He and Dot were confirmed in St. John’s — St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church in 1974. He loved sports especially golf. Bill and Dot traveled to many places with friends, playing golf and bridge. Bill was generous and devoted to friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Edward Brooks and sister, Clara Abbott.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dot”; three children, Debbie Clyburn and husband, Wes, of Winberley, TX., Bill Brooks III of Ruidoso, N.M., and Mike Brooks and wife, Wanda, of Odessa; two sisters, Jane Plitt and husband, Fred, of Shreveport, La., and Anne Brown of Destin, Fla.; five grandchildren, Todd Brooks and wife, Keri, of Odessa, Emily Smith of Boerne, TX, Buddy Brooks of Houston, Jill Brooks of Arlington, and Cristi Clyburn of Wimberley, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Baylee and Braydon Brooks of Odessa.
Papa, we’ll miss you, but we know we’ll see you soon around the throne of our Lord Jesus.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2005, at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church with Rev. David Mossbarger officiating.

MONAHANS - Lottie Broom, 77, of Monahans, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa.
She was born March 7, 1927, in DeLeon, Texas, to Tom and Polly (Kee) Boen. She married
Bobby Broom March 25, 1945, in Gorman, Texas. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Broom of Monahans; son, Danny Broom of Monahans; and daughter, Delores Hittinger of Odessa. Also two brothers, John Boen of Oklahoma, and T.J. Boen of Desdemona, Texas; and two sisters, Virgie Price of Odessa, and Chlodell Lakey of South Texas.
Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2005, at the Pavilion at Monahans Memorial cemetery, with Greg Holly officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 7, 2005, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Family Funeral Services of Monahans.
