Elsie Martin Alcorn
ODESSA - Elsie Martin Alcorn, 93, of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2004. She was born June 27, 1911, in Tankersly, Texas, to David and Lily Martin, who were early pioneers in Tom Green County. She went to school in Tom Green County and graduated from San Angelo Business School in 1929, and worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. She married
Lloyd Alcorn in San Angelo, July 9, 1930. They moved to Ector County in 1934, where they made their home where Lloyd became instrumental in the early development of the Permian Basin oil field. They celebrated their 70th anniversary together on July 9, 2000, with all of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with them. They were proud to have four children, eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Elsie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her first grandchild called her Mema and she has been known as Mema by everyone since then.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband; her two oldest daughters, Maurine Alcorn Sperry and Imogene Alcorn Pilcher; her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Grace Van Cleve of Arlington, TX; and son, Lloyd Alcorn Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Waco, TX; and the eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Donna Newton and her family as she was Mema’s friend and closest companion during her last several years.
The family would also like to thank Hospice House of Odessa for the tender love and care given to Mema. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House of Odessa.
A family visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2004, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004, with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Cebern Madison Coker
Odessa - Cebern Madison Coker slipped into his Heavenly Father’s hands on Saturday, December 18, 2004, freeing him from his earthly bondage of sickness.
Cebern Madison Coker, known as C.M., was born July 22, 1930, in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Cebern P. and Ethel Coker. He grew up in Crane, Texas, and attended schools there, graduating from Crane High School. After his high school graduation, he attended Texas A&M.
On November 18, 1950, he married
the love of his life, Evelyn Higdon. They were married
for 45 years until Evelyn’s death on April 3, 1995. C.M. and Evelyn were blessed with two sons and a daughter.
C.M. worked for Texas-New Mexico Pipeline in Lovington, N.M., and later transferred to Quito, Ecuador, South America. He retired in 1985 and moved to Odessa, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; one son, Michael Loren; parents, C.P and Ethel Coker; sisters, Wanda Wagner, Roberta Van Meter and Marjorie Ross.
He is survived by his son, C.P. Coker and wife Rhonda of Bombay, India; daughter, Dee Pritschow and husband David of Odessa; one brother, Eddie Coker and wife Linda of Denver City, Texas; three grandchildren, David Pritschow of Zephyrhills, Florida, Michael Pritschow of Lubbock, Texas, and Tasha Burnett of Sinton, Texas; and three very special caregivers, Kathie Ortiz, Irma Eilenberger and Elaine Villalobos, all of Odessa; and a host of friends and family.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Crane cemetery in Crane, Texas.
Donations may be made in C.M.’s memory to the Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Associations.

Johnny ‘Chon’ Holguin
Odessa - Johnny “Chon” Holguin, before being embraced and in the presence of Our Lord and Savior said, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear him, and delivers them.” Psalms 34: 1-7
Johnny, 47, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at his residence. He was born April 3, 1957, in Fort Stockton to Ezequiel and Guadalupe Tarin Holguin.
He united in marriage to Wanda A. Hill on May 23, 1989, here in Odessa. He was a Christian and worked in the oil field industry as a shop Tech-1.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Ezequiel Holguin.
Mr. Holguin is survived by his Wife, Wanda H. Holguin of Odessa; Sons, Andrew Subia of Phoenix, and John Anthony Holguin and Joshua C. Holguin, both of Odessa; Daughters, Kacy K. Perez of Odessa, Kimberly K. Devilla and husband Roumel of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Priscilla Perez of Odessa; Mother, Guadalupe T. Holguin of Odessa; Brothers, Richie “Ricky” Holguin and Ezequiel “Tito” Holguin, both of Odessa; Sisters, Diane Holguin and Betty Olivarez and husband Mike of Odessa; three grandchildren; and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Lots of friends.
Pallbearers will be Juan Castillo, Bobby Rubalcado, Jessie Mancha, Michael Olivarez, Eran Olivarez and Rosario Hill Jr.
A Prayer Service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 19, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Templo Buenas Nuevas Church, located on Fifth Street and Vine Ave., with the Rev. Rosario Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
