He was born in Chandler, Okla. He grew up in Crane and graduated from Crane High School. He worked for Texas-New Mexico Pipeline in Lovington, N.M., and later transferred to Quito, Ecuador, South America. He moved to Odessa in 1985.

She was born in Ballinger. She was a member of the Lake Brownwood United Methodist Church and a resident of Lake Brownwood for 20 years.
