Winifred Mann Suckling
Odessa - Winifred Mann Suckling, of Odessa, was born Feb. 15, 1923, and left this world Friday, Feb. 18, 2005.
Winifred was born in Ranger, Texas to William Fred Mann and Bertie Miller Mann. She spent her early years moving all over the oilfields of Texas and New Mexico, before her family finally settled in Odessa in 1939. She was a 1941 graduate of Odessa High School.
On March 17, 1942, she met her sweetie, Herbert Clark Suckling, who was an airman stationed at Terminal, Texas. They were married
in California on Oct. 23, 1945.
Winifred was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, who loved to be involved in any way she could be. She was a retired secretary who loved to garden and collect antiques.
Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, of 59 years, Herb Suckling; daughter, Sally Suckling; granddaughter, Chloe Suckling; brother Ed Mann of Farmington, N.M.; nieces, Cathy Lybrook, Judi Mann and Becky Retherford, all of Farmington, N.M., and Traci Mann of New York; and many other loved ones.
There will be a celebration of her life Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Belmont Baptist Church with G.A. Magee officiating.
