Dr. Kirby Jack Tatum
Odessa - Kirby Jack Tatum was born in Corsicana, Texas, Jan. 1, 1927, the fifth and last child of Trimmer Alton and Beulah Mae Petrey Tatum. He died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Hospice House after a long-fought battle with emphysema.
He spent most of his childhood in Waco, Texas, graduating from Waco High in 1944. Like most young men of those war years, he wanted to serve his country in the war effort. Being only seventeen, too young for regular duty, he joined the Army Air Corps Reserves. The Reserves sent him to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville until April of 1945. He was inducted into the regular Army Air Corps in May of 1945. Kirby served in the occupational forces in Germany reaching the rank of sergeant. He was discharged in 1947. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1950 with a bachelor of science in pharmacy. Kirby worked as a pharmacist in the West Texas towns of Snyder and Post. He entered the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston in 1956, graduating in 1960. He served a rotating internship at St. Lukes Methodist Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In 1961, Kirby came to Odessa and became affiliated with Dr. J.K. Wood. In 1966, he joined Dr. J. Stewart Loft is in general practice partnership. In 1974, Dr. Tatum moved his office from the Sherwood Medical Center on 42nd Street to the Medical Park building on Tower Drive until 1993, when he closed his private practice. At this time, he semi-retired and joined Primary Medical Clinic until 1998, when he turned in his medical license and retired.
He spent his entire 37-years as a physician serving Odessa and Ector county. During his years of practice, Dr. Tatum served as chief of staff of Medical Center Hospital in 1981 and served on many of the hospital staff and board committees. He also served as a clinical instructor for the Family Practice residency program at Texas Tech Medical Branch in its early days. He served as the team doctor for Ector High School from 1963 to 1976.
Kirby Jack Tatum married
Freida Davis in 1951 in Snyder. To this marriage, three sons were born John Barry Tatum, Mark Davis Tatum and Jeffery Dean Tatum. In 1974, Kirby Tatum married
Georgia Bengel Ford. Kirby was a Methodist by faith.
Kirby Tatum is preceded in death by his parents, Trimmer Alton and Beulah Petrey Tatum; brothers, Eskel and Kennedy; sister, Lois Tatum Moore; son, John Barry Tatum; and two daughters-in-law, Jean Smith Tatum and Ann Carman Tatum.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Tatum; brother, Homer S. Tatum of Carrollton; children, Mark Davis Tatum and Jeffery Dean Tatum and wife, Jill, Deborah Ford Proctor and husband, Glenn, Ray Ford and wife, Paula, Larry Ford and wife, Linda, Alice Ford Rowe, Betsy Ford Morin and Matt Ford and wife, Jill; grandchildren, Jenifer Tatum and Stephen Tatum, Atticus Tatum, Ethan Tatum and Keeton Tatum, Amy Ford Jensen and Melanie Ford Chavez, Cassie Wood Wilson, Justin Wood and Cynthia Proctor, Michael Pituch and Chris Morin, Mindy Ford, Jennifer Jones and Jason Jones, and Morgan and Raelene Ford; great-grandchildren, Colby Wilson and Chloe Jensen.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of eight central at Medical Center Hospital and, also, will be forever grateful to the loving, caring people of Home Hospice and Hospice House.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Frank W. Wilson Chapel with the Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.

Art Wagner
CRANE - Art Wagner, 54 of Crane, died on Thursday, August 11, 2005, at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Lyndel Lee Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Crane County cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Art was born on Feb. 6, 1951, in Odessa, Texas. He had been a longtime Crane resident. He was an Amway distributor and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lawanda Wagner on Dec. 16, 2003.
Survivors include, father, Norman Wagner of Crane; son, Matthew Art Wagner of Charlotte, Texas; brother, Larry Wagner and wife Debbie of Odessa; niece, Lindsey Wagner of Odessa; nephews, T.J. Wagner and Lee Wagner both of Odessa; great-nephew, Ethan Drake Wagner of Odessa; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Charles Notley
ODESSA - Charles Notley, 53, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Dr. Jimmy Braswell and the Rev. James Channell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Charles was born on February 28, 1952, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Robert and Lorene (Irwin) Notley. He married
Denise Anne Denney in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on September 18, 1971. He was the co-owner of John Distributing and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Mitchell Notley; and brother, Robert Mitchell Notley Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Notley of Odessa; sons, C.B. Notley Jr. and wife, Lura, of Odessa, Philip Notley and wife, Jill, of Waco, and Nathan Notley of Dallas; daughter, Anna Jones and husband, Cole, of Odessa; mother, Leta Lorene Notley of Odessa; brothers, Richard B. Notley and wife, Sharon, of Odessa, and Thomas Notley and wife, Shirley, of Odessa; grandchildren, Trace, Andy and Noah, all of Odessa.

Fred L. Rabe
Odessa - Fred L. Rabe, 64, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2005, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, August 17, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Fred was born March 12, 1941, in Seymour, Texas, to Fred M. and Christine (Wood) Rabe.
He was the director of Safety and Risk Insurance for Big Dog Drilling and Endeavor Energy. He married
Lou Ann Gray on September 7, 1963, in Odessa. Fred was a 1960 graduate of Permian High School. He was an avid hunter and classic car enthusiast. Fred enjoyed restoring classic cars, Mustangs, Cushman Scooters, antique jukeboxes and antique Coke machines. He was a charter member of the West Texas Street Rod Association and a member of 6th & Jackson Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his father, Fred M. Rabe; and grandson, Brandon Shipley.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Rabe of Odessa; son, Lee M. Rabe and wife, Traci, of Odessa; daughter, Debra Shipley and husband, Terry, of Odessa; mother, Christine Rabe of Chico, Texas; sister, Pennie Smith and husband, Garry, of Chico, Texas; and grandchildren, Justin Shipley and Payton Rabe.

Richard Dean Hoadley Sr.
Midland - Richard Dean Hoadley Sr., of Midland, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2005. After seven years of paralysis, Richard is now walking the streets of gold in heaven.
He was born June 22, 1929, to Ivan Hoadley and Goldie Reay Hoadley in Sparland, Illinois, and was raised and educated in Clovis, N.M. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1946 until 1948. On Feb. 14, 1976, he married
Shirley Patterson in San Angelo. Prior to his retirement, Richard had worked with Seismic Reference Service, B&R Inspection and had a contract position with the U.S. Postal Service. Richard was a member of South Memorial Baptist Church and Cotton Flat Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and one granddaughter.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley Hoadley of Midland; son, Richard Dean Hoadley Jr. of Alva, Oklahoma, and Gary Michael Hoadley of Clovis, N.M.; daughters, April Ray Robinson of Midland, Tracey Diane Poarch of Rowlett, Willie Ruth Hoadley of Clovis, N.M., Jackie Ann Martin of Friona, and Vickie Evon Leggett of Georgetown; four grandsons; seven granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; a mother-in-law; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Cotton Flat Baptist Church in Midland. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Belvedere cemetery, on Arden Road, in San Angelo. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway, Midland, (432) 683-5555.

Curtis James Fletcher
ATASCOCITA - Curtis James Fletcher, 25, passed away from cancer on Sunday, August 14, 2005.
He was born in Houston on July 3, 1980. He attended Pine Forest Elementary, Atascocita Middle School and Humble High School in Humble. He graduated from Humble High in 1998 and attended Texas A&M University from 1998 to 2004, where he graduated with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering. He was an award winner in the C.E. Plant Design Award hosted by Shell Oil Co. in Spring 2004.
Curtis is survived by mother, Frances A. Norred; brother, George O. Fletcher II; grandfather, James D. Norred; and preceded by grandmother Joyce S. Norred — both former teachers of Odessa and Galveston. He is also survived by his father, George O. Fletcher II; uncles, Mark Fletcher and Don D’Amico; aunts, Cheri Fletcher and Suzanne D’Amico; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George O. Fletcher Sr. of Eastland; six cousins; and incalculable amount of friends.
Viewing will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, August 18, at Rosewood Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 19, at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Atascocita with Margaret O. Williams officiating by followed by internment at Rosewood cemetery in Humble.

Corene Albright
Midland - Corene Casparis Albright passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2005, after a long illness.
Corene was born in Pecos, Texas on September 9, 1927 and moved to Odessa, Texas in 1928. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1945. On August 6, 1945, she married
Oren D. Albright, Jr. They moved to Midland, Texas in 1954.
She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Casparis, her mother, Cora Mankins, her step-father, Howard Mankins, and her grandson, Dennis Albright.
Corene is survived by her husband, Oren Albright, her son and daughter-in-law, Oren and Trina Albright of Midland and her daughter and son-in-law, Dan and Debbie Sharp of Katy, Texas; and a brother and sister-in-law, A.L. and Nell Casparis of Odessa, Texas.
She is also survived by her grandson and his wife, Jim and Melissa Albright of New Braunfels, Texas and two granddaughters, Heather Conner and her husband Will of Wills Point, Texas and Stephanie Albright, of San Francisco, California; two great-granddaughters, Lauren Albright of New Braunfels, TX and Tory Conner of Wills Point, TX; and two great-grandsons, Christopher Albright of New Braunfels, TX and Evan Conner of Wills Point, TX.

Harold Leon Wilson
EARLY - Harold Leon Wilson, 78, of Lake Brownwood, passed away Sunday September 4, 2005 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center, after a sudden illness.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday September 5, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Cross Cut cemetery with Reverend Bill Reed, Brother Gene Baker, and Reverend Dianne Cree officiating. Services are under the direction of Heartland Funeral home in Early.
Harold was born in Shamrock, Texas on October 20, 1926 the son of the late Larson and Hattie Tucker Wilson.
He proudly served his country during W.W.II through the United States Navy.
He had worked for several years in Odessa as a Meter Technician in the Oil Industry.
On January 20, 1984 he married
Norma Jean Byrd in Odessa.
He was a member of the V.F.W., and the American Legion. He was also an active member of the Fishermans Chapel U.M.C. at Thunderbird Bay Lake Brownwood.
Survivors Wife Norma Jean Wilson of Lake Brownwood; sons, Michael and Pam Hutchins of Seagoville, Kevin Hutchins of Dallas, James and Mary Hutchins of Odessa; daughters, Melody and Gene Baker of Bellevue, Tx., Janece and Gary Stiles of Pearsall; sister, Lora Coombes of Odessa/ 9 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters. Numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins, and a host of friends.

Kay Diller
Odessa - Kay Diller of Odessa peacefully departed this life Monday, September 5, 2005 in Odessa at the age of 59 years. She was born August 13, 1946 in Lamesa, Texas to the late Frances St. Patrick Lottie Evelena Kirkland McKibben.
She graduated from Tahoka High School in 1964 and American Commercial College in 1991. Kay married
Jimmy Diller in November of 1992. Kay moved to Odessa in 1991 and was a member of Temple Baptist in Odessa. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Kristy Bellinghausen.
She is survived by Jimmy Diller of Odessa; a daughter, Laurala Melton and husband Paul; stepdaughter, Tina Sevin of Midland; two grandchildren, Tyler Melton and LaShaa Lewallen;step grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Sevin, Tim and Zach Bellinghausen; three brothers, Don McKibben of Tahoka, Jerry McKibben of Lubbock and Joe McKibben of Cocoa Beach, FL; five sisters, Shirley Reece of Odessa, Patricia Williams of Lubbock, Mary Lynn Rowe of Henderson, Addie Pearl Triola of Houston and Ruby Griffith of Dallas.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Sweet Street Baptist Church in Tahoka with Rev. Lynn Long, officiating. Interment will follow in Tahoka cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Tahoka.

Harold Jones
Odessa - Harold Jones, 75, of Odessa, passed away Sunday September 4, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.

Harold Jones was born December 11, 1929 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ernest and Doris (Fairchild) Jones. He married
Helen Estes on September 5, 1947 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He worked for Morrell Meat Packing in Ottumwa for 21 years and worked as a machinist in Odessa.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Becky Comer.
He is survived by his wife Helen Jones of Odessa, son Michael Jones of Odessa, daughters Sally McBurney, Teresa Sanford both of Odessa, Connie Comer of Ottumwa, Iowa, sister Ramona Brown of Knoxville, Iowa, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Douglas C. Burrous
Crane - Doug Burrous, 75, passed away Feb. 28, 2005, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital, after a sudden illness. He was a resident for 42 years of Crane, where he taught for the Crane Independent School District for 27 years. He was born in Seminole, Okla., but was raised in Crosbyton. He attended Baylor and Texas Tech for his undergraduate degree and achieved his graduate degree from West Texas State University in 1954. While in Crane, Doug taught history, drama and speech. His passion was his debate team. His secondary passions were woodworking, going to garage sells and antique collecting. He never met a stranger, and loved public speaking. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crane for 42 years and taught Sunday School until his death. He married
May Dell Davis Jan. 31, 1964, in Crane.
He is survived by his wife, May Dell Burrous, of 41 years; a twin brother, Dal Burrous of Dallas; four children, Beki Morris of Austin, Dal Burrous of Lubbock, Emily Castleman of Houston, and Maurine Lee of Pflugerville; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by a step-son, Danny Davis of Lubbock, who has 5 children.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Ricky Baker. He is survived by Ricky’s two 2 children, and 7 grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 2 at the First Baptist Church of Crane at 2 p.m. Immediately following the internment, there will be a memorial bonfire honoring a fine man for anyone with a passion for smoking to throw their last cigarette into the fire and prolong their life.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
