Jesus Rodriguez Munoz
Odessa - Jesus Rodriguez Munoz, 71, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Justo and Esperanza Rodriguez. He united in marriage Jan. 2, 1958, in Ojinaga to Socorro Mata. He was a Christian Catholic and retired as an insulator in the Construction Industry.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Luis Fernando Munoz.
Mr. Munoz is survived by his wife, Socorro Mata Munoz of Odessa; sons, Jesus Munoz Jr., Justo Munoz, Alex Munoz, Jacob Munoz and Jonathon Munoz, all of Odessa, Luis Fernando Munoz Jr. of Chihuahua, Chih., Mexico, and Jose Luis Munoz of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Elia Munoz of Los Angeles, Calif., and Nancy Munoz, Rosa Munoz and Concepcion Lucero, all of Odessa; brother, Hector Rodriguez of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Antonia Olivas of CD. Juarez, Chih., Mexico, Neyva Zuniga of Saragosa, Texas, and Palmira Brito and Maria Ramirez both of Odessa; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jesus Munoz Jr., Justo Munoz, Fernando Munoz, Alex Munoz, Jacob Munoz and Jonathon Munoz.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.

Cecil H. Henderson
Arlington - Cecil H. Henderson, 65, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and a Baptist missionary, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Arlington.
The Rev. Henderson had been a Baptist missionary to Brazil for the past 39 years. He was founder of five independent churches throughout Brazil. He was co-founder of the Bible Baptist Institute of Amazonas in Manaus, Brazil. The Rev. Henderson was the active pastor of the Portuguese Ministries, graciously hosted at Temple Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
Cecil’s survivors are his loving wife, of 41 years, Saundra Henderson; his children, Sundae Urquhart, Rachel Henderson Zeboski and Lucas Henderson, all of Arlington; grandchildren, Justin and Brittany May, and Emma Lauren Henderson Zeboski; sisters, Frances Goodwin and Glenda Cranfill, both of Odessa; brothers, Tommy Henderson of Odessa, Jerry Don Henderson of Lufkin, and Michael Kent Henderson of Hahnville, La.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends throughout the world.
Funeral services were Monday, March 14, at Shannon Rose Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Robert (‘Bob’) Linton Seglem
ODESSA - Robert (“Bob”) Linton Seglem died early Monday morning, March 14, 2005, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas, after a long and courageous battle following open-heart surgery last November.
He is survived by his loving wife and “light of his life, ” Marian Edna Westerfeldt Seglem of Odessa, Texas; his son, Robert Darren Seglem and wife Michelle of Midland, Texas; his daughter, DeAnne Michelle Maisano and husband Dino of Burnet, Texas; his mother, Doris Mae Seglem of El Dorado, Kansas; his brothers, William (“Bill”) O. Seglem and wife, Donna of Odessa, Texas, and Billy Pat Salmans and wife, Kathryn of Meridian, Texas; his sisters, Janice Sue Kyser and husband, Michael, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Joni Kay Dacus and husband, Randy, of Canton, Kansas.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren who brought great joy to his life: Hunter Seglem and Toni, Beth, Katy, Hannah, Michael and Patti Marie Maisano; in addition, he is survived by numerous nephews and nieces who will lovingly remember their “Uncle Bob.”
Bob was preceded in death by his infant son, Roy Linton Seglem, his father, Linton Olaf Seglem, and his daughter, Shawnda Dawn Strickland.
Bob was born August 23, 1940, to parents Linton and Doris Seglem. He grew up on a farm and ranch east of El Dorado, Kansas. He shared this birth date with his mother, Doris, and son, Darren, resulting in many memorable family reunions in Bob and Marian’s back yard. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1957, and received his Bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1973. Bob’s life work as a Petroleum Engineer was in the oil fields of Africa, the North Sea, South America, Canada, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, with a brief time in Kuwait following the Desert Storm war. He worked for Halliburton Services Inc. for many years after which he started his own oil company drilling some 250 wells while partnering with his wife, brother Bill, son and other business associates.
Bob was an avid golfer and won several tournaments alongside his son, Darren, brother, Bill, and numerous golfing “buddies.”
Another great joy in Bob’s life were reunions with his lifelong friends from El Dorado, Kansas, High School “Class of ‘57.” Throughout the years, they enjoyed numerous trips together serving to strengthen their friendship bonds. Other important highlights from his life include: He was a lifelong member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers; He was the past president of the ASA Girls Softball Assoc.; a member and former trustee of the Highland United Methodist Church; past president of the Odessa Chapter of the American Heart Assoc.; and past president of the Odessa Hearty Hearts Assoc.
A family visitation will be held for friends and family today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Highland United Methodist Church with Mark Scott officiating and Dino Maisano co-officiating with a graveside service immediately following.
A memorial may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.

Waymon L. Watts
Odessa - Waymon L. Watts, 54, of Odessa, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Dec. 18, 1950, in Odessa to Obie Lynn and Luna Mae Watts.
He lived in Odessa all of his life and had been employed by G&RG Trucking as a driver. He was a graduate of Permian High School, and he was a Baptist.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Andy Watts of Lipan; daughters, Abbie Hubbard and husband, Marshall, of Ozona, and Shirlee Thompson and husband, Greg, of Orangefield; sisters, Sara Carver and husband, George, and Mary Redmon and husband, Keith, both of Odessa; and grandchildren, Madye and Westyn Hubbard, and Kolton and Logan Thompson.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at Ector County cemetery.
If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

W. Sam White
Midland - W. Sam White, of Midland, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in Houston.
He was born Nov. 5, 1931, in Dallas to Babe and Sam White. In 1949, he graduated from Crane High School as Valedictorian. That fall, he entered the University of Texas and graduated in the top ten percent of the class four years later with a BS in Chemical Engineering with Omega Chi Epsilon, Honorary Chemical Engineering Society, and Tau Beta Phi, Honorary Society for all Engineers.
On April 16, 1956, Sam went to work and later founded Champion Technologies. He was elected president in 1959 and later chairman of the board and, eventually, chairman of the board emeritus, until his death.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, of 32 years, Flo White of Midland; his daughter, Deborah White of San Antonio; his sons, Sam White of Kerrville, and Tom White of San Antonio; his stepchildren, Cynthia Keller of Dallas, Mark West of Midland; and his grandchildren, Summer Keller, Crystal Carpenter, Cody Soele, Samantha White and Travis White.
Memorial services were Thursday, March 10, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Mae Frances Wilson
Kermit - Mae Frances Wilson, age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Kermit.
She was born May 21, 1916, in Arlington, Ky., to Coley Dunn and Grace Sauderson Dunn. Frances was a resident of Wink for 22 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Wink. On Feb. 17, 1983, Frances and C.M. “Curley” Wilson were united in marriage in Grenada, Miss. “Curley” passed away Aug. 3, 1996.
Those left to cherish Frances’ memory are her daughters, Barbara Slaughter of Graham and Nancy Willis of Grand Junction, Colo. Also surviving her are seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Wink with the Rev. Richard Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Cooper Funeral Chapel of Kermit.
Conard "C.P." Parr
Conard "C.P." Parr, 76, of Odessa, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born March 30, 1923, in Kosse, and came to Odessa in the early 50’s and worked as a wireline engineer all over the world.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Parr; daughters, Gail Phillips and Dottie Parr, both of Austin, Toni McDaniels of Odessa and Jackie McFarland of Omaha, Neb.; stepsons, Kyle Nichols of Nacogdoches, Russell Kirk and Kevin Nichols, both of Austin; sisters, Yona Willis of Andrews and Dovie Leggett of Dallas; brothers, Bob Parr and Ted Parr, both of Lubbock.
Eugene "Bucky" Jones
Bucky Jones, 44, of Odessa, died Friday, December 24, 1999 in Odessa, Texas.
He was born January 19, 1955 in Selma, Alabama. He was a graduate of Weatherford High School and attended Ranger Junior College. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Eastern New Mexico University and was an assistant coach for Permian High School.
He started his coaching career in Odessa with Bonham Jr. High, and had coached for Permian High from 1981-1986, Lewisville High School, Galena Park High School and Spring High School before returning to Permian in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Bonner Jones of College Station and Andrew Eugene Jones of Arlington; mother, Betty Warren of Lubbock; sister, Jana Thomas of Stephenville; and stepchildren Wes, Brent and Amanda Sheets. He is also survived by several nieces, and a great niece and great nephew.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 1999, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 4141 Tanglewood La., with Rev. Judy Cobb officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Richard Lynn Lovett
Richard Lynn Lovett, 56, of Odessa, died December 22, 1999, in Bossier City, La.
He was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas. He moved to Odessa from Anderson Mills in 1984 and was a retired GM service manager. During the Vietnam War he was a medic attached to a Navy Seal team aboard the USS Fourstal CV-59.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Lovett Smedley and her husband, Jeff, of Cedar Park, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew and Jeremy Smedley; mother, Melba Lovett of Odessa; brothers, Guy Roger Lovett and his wife, Connie, of Odessa and Leslie Paul Lovett of Odessa. He is also survived by two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 1999, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Mark Howell officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Midland. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Virgil Wesley Massingill
Virgil Wesley Massingill of Grandfalls, Texas, passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Christmas Day, 1999.
Mr. Massingill was born on Jan. 10, 1917, at home in Hamilton County, Texas to Roy and Angeline "Susie" (Bass) Massingill. He was the second of 11 children. He married
Anna E. Williamson on Sept. 7, 1940. He resided in Eastland County, Texas, from 1945 until he moved to West Texas in 1964. He was an active member of the Grandfalls Union Church for 34 years and served on the Grandfalls City Council.
Mr. Massingill, who was active in farming and ranching until the time of his death, is survived by his wife; two sons, Don W. Massingill and Dan V. Massingill, both of Eastland, Texas; two daughters, Mary Lynn Geurin of Grandfalls, Texas, and Carol Anne Green of Midland, Texas; two brothers, Paul and J.T. Massingill; five sisters, Myrt Davis, Totis Robuck, Rita Craig, Mildred Bottlinger, all of Hamilton, Texas, and Ann Brawner of Bedford, Texas; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was deeply loved and admired by his family and friends. He will be missed by those who knew him.

J.C. Trout
J.C. Trout, 76, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy battle with his heart. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 18, 1923, in Binger, Okla., the oldest of 11 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvia and Vedie Trout, and his brother, Norman Trout.
He married
Iwana Jones August 18, 1945, in Winnsboro, and they moved to Odessa in 1950 where he began his work in the oil field as a tool pusher. He retired from Parker Drilling Co. in 1985. Shortly afterward he began his career with Rototec, Inc., working with his sons.
He loved the outdoors and spent many hours working on the Trout Ranch, keeping up the equipment, feeding the cows, horses and many other chores he found rewarding. J.C. was a member of Central Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and was faithful to his church, family and friends. His home was always open to anyone in need. We hold many cherished memories of the love he leaves with us.
J.C. is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iwana Jones Trout; sons Mike Trout and wife Carol and Pat Trout and wife Donna; grandchildren, Jason, Laura, Melissa and Shelley; and great grandchildren, Kasey, Kristiana and Zane. He is also survived by five brothers; Buster, Floyd, Marvin, Bobby and Orville; sisters, Betty, LaVerna, Jewel and Bernice; and 50 nieces and nephews. He was also blessed with sister-in-law Charline Jones Sorrels, and three brothers-in-law, J.D., Bill and Don.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Revs. David Johnson and L.D. Green officiating. Julia Faye Chappell
ODESSA - Mrs. Robert L. Chappell Sr. died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.
Julia Faye was born to parents, Annie Mae and J.B. Richardson on July 5, 1916, in Bryce, Texas. She moved with her parents to Fort Worth in 1922.
She attended Central High School and Texas Christian University. Julia Faye married
Robert Lane Chappell on February 6, 1937.
While in Fort Worth, Julia Faye was a member of the Women’s Club and Hemphill Presbyterian Church.
Julia Faye and Robert moved to Odessa, Texas, in 1956. They were members of First Presbyterian Church. In Odessa, she was involved with several charitable and civic organizations.
Julia Faye is survived by her husband of 68 years Robert Lane Chappell; her son, Dr. Robert L. Chappell Jr. and his wife Barbara of Odessa; her daughter, Cynthia Ferguson and her husband Roy of Fort Worth. She has four granddaughters, Tammy Ferguson Peden and husband Matt from Flower Mound, Texas, Julia Ferguson Whitener and husband Jonathan of Fort Worth, Catherine Anne Chappell of Dallas and Elizabeth Lane Chappell of Dallas. Julia Faye has one great-grandson, Price Jennings Peden of Flower Mound. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. J.B. Richardson and wife Ann of Houston; her aunt, Docia Marie Andersen of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
