RJ ‘Bob’ Bradshaw
Odessa - Robert John “Bob” Bradshaw, 73, of Midland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Bob was born on April 13, 1931, to Clarence and Louellen Bradshaw in Davidson, Okla.
He spent his career in the Permian Basin as an accomplished owner and operator of several businesses in the oil industry, some including Gold Rentals Inc., Johnson Industries Inc., Stretch Trucking Inc., JICO Fishing and Rentals Inc., BRADCO, Brad Enterprises, RJB Enterprises and Basin Real Estate. Bob’s professional life was characterized by his well-deserved reputation for hard work, honesty and integrity.
Bob’s hobbies included fishing, photography, boating, golfing, traveling, arrowhead hunting and spending time with his family. His greatest treasures were his wife, children, grandchildren and a close circle of friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Bradshaw; two sons, Robert John “Jay” Bradshaw Jr. and wife D’Layne and Phillip Andrew Bradshaw; and their mother, Vi Ward. He also had two stepsons, Anthony William Vaglienti and wife Kendra and Daryl Anthony Vaglienti and fiancee Shannon; six grandchildren, Brittany Laine Bradshaw, Robert John III, Mark, David, Calli Jelane Scout and Matti Rosellen Bradshaw; and three step grandchildren; sister, Benalou Bailey and husband Breck, their children, Cheryl, Gary and Nancy; and numerous other relatives.
Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Mission Dorado Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Ramsey Fowler, Gene McCann, Jim McMillan, Bill Fowler, Thurman Noland, Ray Ward, Perry Brown and David McKandles.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Marie Ford

Odessa - Marie Ford, a Christian, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, in Tonopah, Nev., after a sudden illness.
She was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Coleman to Jess and Lonia Watkins.
She married E.A. “Al” Ford on Oct. 15, 1954, in Monahans. He preceded her in death in 1991. Also preceding her in death were her mother and father.
Her son and daughter-in-law, Vance and Beverly Ford of Odessa; and grandchildren, Stacy Ford Doughty and husband, Brian, of Moore, Okla., and Brandon Ford of Odessa; two sisters, Juanita Dodson and Alma Hewett, both of Odessa, survive her as well as several nieces; nephews; and a large extended family of aunts; uncles; and cousins. A very special friend, Max Ladd of Duncan, Okla., also survives her.
She found great joy working alongside Dr. Dale Curry as his receptionist from 1973 until their retirement in 1990.
Her phone line would be busy for hours on end, as she loved talking with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time watching old movies, and she always had the coffee pot on for anyone who came by.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Byron McWilliams officiating. Interment will follow at the Monahans Memorial cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Ida ‘Toots’ Fry

JAL, N.M. - Ida “Toots” Fry, a 57-year resident of Jal, N.M., passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Chris’ Country Retirement Home in Odessa.
She was born July 28, 1918, in Artesia, N.M., to Lee Daniel Savoie and Hattie M. Weske Savoie.
“Toots, ” as she was dearly known, married Parm B. Fry on June 30, 1936, in Clovis, N.M. He preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1987.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Jal. She retired in 1980 as a postal clerk with the Jal Post Office.
“Toots” is survived by her son, Rodney M. Fry and wife Nancy of Chino, Calif.; one daughter, Betty Holland and husband Al of Jal; one sister, Gladys Thompson of Houston; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Jean Taylor; her brothers, Frank, Eddie and Herman Savoie; three sisters, Helen Cummings, Julia Skaggs and Mary Sutton; and by one grandchild, Michael Taylor.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Mountain Time today, Feb. 6, 2005, at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Kermit. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Time Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Jal with Father Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow in the Jal cemetery.
Pallbearers include Al Holland, Michael Witt, Tim Berry, Dustin Minear, John Savoie, Tony Savoie and Honorary pallbearer David Ford.
Memorials may be made to Chris’ Country Retirement Home, 10073A Tucson St., Odessa, TX 79763.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cooper Funeral Chapel in Kermit.

Buella McManus
CRANE - Buella McManus, 79, of Crane, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at the Hospice House in Odessa.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at the Mary Street Church of Christ with Minister Gene Klutts officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Mrs. McManus was born April 22, 1925, in Alto, Texas, and grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas. She married Robert Hugh McManus on March 2, 1946, in Lake Charles, La. She moved to Crane in 1952. She was a retired junior high math teacher, having taught in Crane and Odessa. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, of which she was currently serving as president, and was a member of the Texas Historical Commission.
She was a driving force behind the Crane County Museum for many years. She was a member of the Crane County Chamber of Commerce, and she was former member and officer of the Crane Study Club and Garden Club. She was also a member of the Mary Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh McManus on August 4, 1991; her parents, Buford and Fenella Forsyth; and a son-in-law, Larry Fountain.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan Fountain of Morton, Texas; two grandchildren, Christi Randall and husband Zac of Marion, Iowa, and Ashley Gonzalez and husband Albert of Morton, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Brennen Randall of Marion, Iowa, and Paris Gonzalez of Morton, Texas; and brother-in-law, Charles McManus and wife Dahlia of Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alton Benton ‘A.B.’ Morgan

Odessa - A.B. passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home Saturday, February 5, 2005.
He was born June 10, 1929, in Sudan, Texas. A.B. was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by all whose lives he touched. His family and friends will greatly miss him.
He was survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jackie Morgan of Odessa; his son, Mike Morgan of Odessa; daughter, Toni Shadwick of Odessa; two granddaughters, Doris and April; and three great-grandchildren, Christina, Logan, and Kayla. He is also survived by his brother, B.J. Morgan of Lubbock, and his sisters, Patsy Lane of Navasota, Texas; Yvonne Johnson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Naomi Slagle of Paris, Texas; and many more family and friends.
His parents, Alton and Velma Morgan; and his sister, Jean, all preceded him in death.
A.B. was a refinery operator for Shell Oil before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League; his handle was WB5NTI. He was also a member of the Odessa Radio Club.
Graveside services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Marjorie Grace Lyman

Virginia Beach Va. - Marjorie Grace Lyman died February 7, in Virginia Beach, VA.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1916, in Saint John, Kan. Margie lived a full life which included being one of the first female pilots in Colorado. She served as a civilian bookkeeper in the Defense Department in Washington, D.C., just prior to and during WWII. She met her husband, W.P. “Bill” Lyman while they were both working as civilians in the construction of a military base in Adak, Ala. She moved with her husband and three children at the need of the El Paso Company throughout New Mexico and then to Odessa where she lived from 1957 until 1977. She also worked many years for El Paso Products Company. After her retirement, she moved to Fredericksburg where she was very active at the Golden Hub Senior Center. She enjoyed hiking in the Texas Hill Country and traveling throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. She moved in 1996 to Virginia Beach, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Services will be scheduled for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
She is greatly missed and survived by her children, Mona “Patrick” Burton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Michael “Carolyn” Lyman of Rocky Mount, Va. and Lisa Lyman-Speckheuer of Virginia Beach, Va. She is also survived and greatly missed by five grandchildren, Ben, Rachael, and Marisa Lyman, and Anni and Johannes Speckheuer.

Violet O’Neal

Humble - Violet O’Neal returned to her Heavenly home on February 4, 2005, having passed away at Memorial Woodland Hospital in Woodland. Her family grieves her death.
Violet was born February 20, 1915, in Houston. A longtime resident of Odessa, Violet was the office manager at Machotka Auto Supply, until her retirement to Lake Brownwood. Violet resided with her daughter, Peggy, and son-in-law, Glenn Richmond, in Conroe for 13 years before moving to a local nursing home.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Peggy Marie Redmond and son-in-law, Glenn Richmond; her son, Wayne O’Neal and daughter-in-law, Diane O’Neal; her beloved granddaughter, Corey Redmond Telschow; her sister, Gladys Ferguson of Bedia; her grandchildren, Billy O’Neal, Danny O’Neal, Johnny O’Neal, Kerry O’Neal, Linda Speight, Michael Redmond, and Corey Telschow; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at Rosewood cemetery Tuesday, February 8, 2005, with the Deacon Mark Telschow presiding.

Gloria June Coker Petterson

Odessa - Gloria June Coker Petterson, of Midland, passed away Monday, February 7, 2005, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Gloria June was born November 26, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas, to Lonnie Arlis Coker and Evlyn Maxine Archer. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1960 and attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 1964. Gloria studied one year in Sweden at the University of Stockholm. She married Paul Petterson on September 16, 1967, in Big Spring. Gloria was the assistant director of child development at First Baptist Church in Odessa. She had been the pastor’s secretary for Dr. H. Bailey Stone during his affiliation with First Baptist Church of Odessa and church secretary at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro, Texas. Gloria was a member of First Baptist Church in Midland and served as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years for preschool and four year old departments at various Baptist churches. Gloria was a loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a strong Christian woman with an unwavering faith in God. It was her faith in God and her family that helped her fight her courageous battle with cancer.
She is preceded in death by her father Lonnie Coker.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Petterson of Midland; one daughter, Dane Shoffner and husband, Philip, of Euless; two sons, Cort Petterson and wife, Marci, of Little Elm; Bruin Petterson and his fiance, Jennifer Nease, of Odessa; her mother, Evlyn Coker of Big Spring; one sister, Londa Henry and husband, Wayne, of Kingsland; and two grandsons, Curan Petterson and Jeron Petterson, both of Little Elm; a niece Shawn Ashlock and husband, Dr. Larry Ashlock; and nephews Greg Henry and Kurt Henry.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Odessa with Dr. H. Bailey Stone, Dr. Gary Dyer and the Rev. Byron McWilliams officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family suggest memorials be given to the Child Development Center of First Baptist Church, 709 Lee Ave., Odessa, TX, 79761.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors and Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.

Annie Frasier Tate

COLEMAN - Annie Frasier Tate, age 84, of Coleman, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Coleman County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 10, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russ Frasier, her grandson, officiating. The committal service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Weaver cemetery near Gorman, Texas. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Annie Lee Keese on May 29, 1920 in Cordell, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late George Dee Keese and Nettie Acklin Keese. She grew up and attended school in Oklahoma and North Texas. On October 31, 1936, she married John D. Frasier and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1968. In 1969 she married Sanders E. Tate and he died in May 1986.
She moved from Gorman to Odessa where she lived from 1946-1982. While living in Odessa, she taught in the Children’s department and nursery at the First Church of the Nazarene. She moved to Coleman in 1982 where she was an active member and cook at the Coleman Senior Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Coleman Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Faye Frasier of Coleman, Texas, Tommy and Melva Frasier of Kirbyville, Texas, Jimmie and Danielle Frasier of Houston, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Bettie and George Kirk of Granby, Missouri; one sister, Wynama Gould of Lubbock, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman, Texas.
Memorials may be made to Coleman Senior Center, 916 S. Concho, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Gordon Votaw

Odessa - Gordon Votaw, age 67, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, in Odessa.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mid-Cities Community Church with the Pastor Kevin York officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Votaw was born on Feb. 15, 1937, to M.H. and Veta (Stuart) Votaw. He was a graduate of Abilene Christian University and worked as a petroleum land man. He also served his country in the United States Army. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M.H. and Veta Votaw.
Gordon is survived by one son, Jeff Votaw of Gyllette, Wyo.; one daughter, Jill McCoy of Floresville; one sister, Sara Easley of Odessa; six grandchildren, Erica Haro, Jeff Votaw II, Gordon Adam Votaw, Ashley Votaw, Jacob Votaw and Cody Votaw; one great-grandchild, Joshua Haro; and two nephews, Jon and Jay Easley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX, 79761 or to the American Cancer Society.

Joe Carlton Halifax

Odessa - Joe Carlton Halifax, 57, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in Abilene.
Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa with Kellam Colquitt officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Community Memorial Funeral Home in Abilene.
Joe was born Nov. 14, 1947, in Odessa to Joe Earnest and Thelma (Acuff) Halifax. He grew up in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1966. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1970 and returned to Odessa. He worked as a consultant for the oil business for many years, but he had most recently worked for Walker Air Conditioning as a technician. Joe loved hunting and fishing, and spending time with his grandsons.
Survivors include his mother, Thelma Halifax of Odessa; a son, Coby Halifax of Plano; three daughters, Loren Halifax of Kansas City, Mo., and Carmen Halifax Money and Shannon Reffner, both of Abilene; a sister, Janeen James of Abilene; and three grandsons, Jaxson Money, Max Money, and Josh Reffner, all of Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Earnest Halifax.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene, TX 79604.
