Faustino ‘Tino’ A. Torres
Odessa - Faustino “Tino” A. Torres, 79 years of age, passed away Wednesday Jan. 26, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Grandfalls to Octavio and Tomasa Acosta Torres. He united in marriage to Elfida Rico in Grandfalls Sept. 30, 1946, and to this unification were born four Children. He was the owner and operator of Aztec Welding and Fabrication in Odessa. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a Christian Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters; Lupe Santiago, Ramona Carrasco, and Amada Aguilera.
Surviving are his wife, Elfida Rico Torres of Odessa; sons, Alfredo R Torres and wife, Ophelia, of San Antonio, and Roberto R Torres and wife, Betty, and Joe R. Torres and wife, Julie, both of Odessa; daughter, Gracie Nabarrette and husband, Adolfo, of Odessa; brother, Octavio Torres of Grand Prairie; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of sister and brother in-Laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; and lots of friends.
A Rosary will be said today at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, nephews and dear friends.
If it is true and certain that a great man is measured by his commitment and love for God, his family, including his work ethic, his strength of character; his integrity, and then himself. Then my Husband, Father and Grandfather certainly walked among “The Greatest of Men.” He overcame any and all obstacles. He instilled in us a belief that everything is possible if you only believe. We love you Dad and will be greatly missed.

Ada Mae Chandler
ODESSA - Ada Mae Chandler, 88, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Avalon Place Nursing Center in Odessa.
Ada was born Aug. 31, 1916, in McGregor to George C. and Undine (Williams) Rhoads. She married
Howard B. Chandler on Dec. 15, 1935, in Oglesby. The family moved to Odessa in the mid-1940s.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; four sisters; her husband, of 53 years, Howard Chandler in 1989; her son, Jimmy Chandler in 2001; and her son-in-law Larry Hoover in 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, June Hoover; daughter-in law, Mary Ann Chandler; one grandson, Kevin Chandler and wife, Cyndi; three granddaughters, Terri Baker and husband, Valon, Kelli Welch and husband, Brian, and Tammi Rodgers; and eight great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brittani Baker, Cole, Kourtnye and Krysten Chandler, Joshua Rodgers, Tiffani Tate and Brody Welch, all of Odessa. Ada also leaves a host of nieces and nephews as well as a lifetime of dear friends.
Ada and Howard owned and operated Chandler’s Barber and Beauty Salons in Odessa for 20 years and then Armstrong McCall Beauty Supply for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
Ada was an active member of the Family and Community Education Extension Club, the Odessa Quilters’ Guild, and a past officer and energetic member of the Democratic Club. Ada was also a dedicated member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Avalon Place Nursing Center and Odyssey Hospice for their care and concern for our mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Bauernfeind officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Robert ‘Bob’ Futrell
ODESSA Robert “Bob” Futrell, 81, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2005, at home, where he wanted to be.
Robert was born in Virginia, the baby of 4 sisters and 3 brothers to Elizabeth and Papa Futrell.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Betty John. He was a world traveler and a WWII Veteran who earned his wings. A true Southern Gentleman grounded in tradition bringing laughter and love to his family and friends.
He is survived by his two daughters Betty L. Stice and Susan J. Riad of Odessa. He was blessed with four grandchildren: Sharif Riad of Dallas, Lynn James, Bobby Stice, and David Stice Jr. of Odessa. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Austin Riad of Dallas, Noah Stice and Katey Stice of Odessa, John, Josh, and Jacob James of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty J. Futrell and his sweet daughter Nancy J. Futrell.
Thank you Daddy, for the treasure hunts, the trips, laughter and the memories you brought to us girls. We love you and miss you, Say Hi to Momma and sister for us.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Home Hospice for helping take care of our Daddy and Grandpa.

Rosemary Graham
ODESSA Rosemary Graham, 63, of Odessa, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mrs. Graham was a born April 5, 1941, in Limestone County. She was Baptist.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Vern Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at the Ector County cemetery in the Rose Hill section.
She is survived by her husband, Nathaniel Graham of Odessa; mother, Thelma Jackson of Odessa; daughters, Connie Denise Turner and Nichelle Graham both of Odessa; sons, Christopher Lee Jackson and Nathan Graham, both of Odessa, Anthony Earl Graham of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Earl Wayne Jackson of Fort Worth and Earl (Butch) Jackson of Odessa; sisters, Frances Freeman and Esta Jackson, both of Odessa, Betty Young of Fort Worth and Helen Jackson Beroit of California; 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Robert Earl ‘High Pocket’ Hilliard
Odessa Robert Earl “High Pocket” Hilliard, 80 years of age, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Mr. Hilliard was born March 13, 1924, in Hempstead, to father, Feline Hilliard and, mother, Annie J. Miles whom both preceded him in death. He was a Navy veteran. His wife, Alma Brooks Hilliard, also preceded him in death.

John J. Sims
Odessa John J. Sims, 86, of Gardendale, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Medicine Mound to Matt and Bessie Sims. He grew up in Mobeetie and graduated with a BS in Chemistry and Biology in 1940 at what is now the West Texas A&M University in Canyon. He was employed from 1940 to 1950 with Phillips Petroleum Company in Borger as foreman and superintendent. He moved to Odessa in 1950 and co-founded Continental Products/Hydrochem, Inc. Before retiring in October 1984, he established Blue Ribbon Pecans in Gardendale in 1977, which he managed until his death. Mr. Sims was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Canyon; the El Maida Shrine in El Paso; the American Chemical Society; a past board member of the Texas Pecan Growers’ Association; and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Bessie Sims; brothers, Thirl and Wayne Sims.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine; a son, John J. Sims Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Montague; a daughter, Suzanne Knox and husband, John, of Ozark, Ark.; stepdaughters, Cynthia Esmond and husband, Steve, of Irvine, Calif., Janice Schattman and husband, Fred, of Fort Worth, and Holly Heil and husband, Terry, of Ennis. He is also survived by one brother, Hamp Sims and wife, Katy, of Evant; sisters-in-law, Inez and Mary Sims; by grandchildren, Byron and Jason Sims, Kyle and Alex Hawkins, Jon David James, Richard, Greg, and Chris Esmond, Brandy Adams, Ricky and Brady Barber, Kevin, Trenton, Tyler, Trevor, Amber and Trista Heil, Jason, Martha, and Rebecca and Theresa Schattman; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nora Fitch officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Lee Donald Brown
Monahans - Lee Donald Brown, 69, of Monahans died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1935, in McCamey, Texas, to Elward Thomas and Zanna Pearl (Barrett) Brown.
He married
Joycilyn Parrot on September 24, 1982 in Lancaster, Texas. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Joycilyn Brown of Monahans; a son, Jerry Donald Brown of Mesquite, Texas; and three daughters, Donna Murphy of Seagoville, Texas, Kimberly Payne of Springdale, Arkansas, and Vanessa McCaffrey-McCusker of Okemus, Michigan; two brothers, Lloyd Wayne Brown of Chicago, Illinois, and Harvey Brown of Seguin, Texas; as well as seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services for Lee Brown are set for 11 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2005, at Southside Baptist Church with the Reverend Craig Rhoten officiating. Burial will be at a later date in McCamey, Texas.
Services are under the direction of Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
The family has requested memorials be made to the Building Fund of Southside Baptist Church of Monahans, The American Heart Association or The Kidney Foundation.

Henry Edward Ehrenberg Jr.
Abilene - Henry Edward Ehrenberg Jr., 69, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Hospice House after a brief fight with cancer.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2005, at Elmwood cemetery in Abilene, Texas, with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. The family will receive visitors from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Henry Edward Ehrenberg Jr. was born July 23, 1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Henry E. Ehrenberg Sr. and Ruth Wilson Ehrenberg.
He was raised in Hawkins, Texas, and moved to Sonora, Texas, in 1950 and graduated from there in 1952. He also attended San Angelo State University.
He married
Lou Ann Adkins on October 5, 1956, in Sonora, Texas. Henry retired from National Supply, a division of Armco Steel, now known as AK Steel. He was currently employed by E&E Sales and Service.
He was a member of Highland Methodist Church of Odessa. Henry was a kind gentle man who loved the Lord and always had time for his family, grandchildren and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry E. Ehrenberg Sr. and Ruth Wilson Ehrenberg.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lou Ann Ehrenberg; three daughters, Linda Lou Judkins and husband Ron, Dora Ann McGinnis and husband Larry and Laura Ann Mitchell and husband Chuck; five grandchildren, Laci Judkins, Derek Judkins, Kayla Mitchell, Braison McGinnis and Destiny McGinnis.

Roger Greenlee
Bryan - Roger Greenlee, 78, of Bryan and formerly of Odessa, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Hillier Funeral Home with Mr. Kirk Castleman officiating. Burial will follow at the Bryan City cemetery.
A visitation has been scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 30, 2005, at Hillier Funeral Home.
He was born April 13, 1926, in O’Donnell. He’d lived in Bryan-College Station for nine months, having moved there from Odessa.
He was a foreman in gas distribution for Pioneer Natural Gas in Odessa.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Greenlee of Bryan; sons, Don Greenlee and wife Katina of College Station and Gary Greenlee and wife Debbie of Alpharetta, Ga.; sister, Doris White of Karnes City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
