Odessa - Carol Cole Parker, 69, passed away August 31, 2005, at her residence in Odessa, Texas.
Carol was born March 12, 1936, in Eunice, New Mexico, to Henry and Thelma Cole. She married
John J. Parker June 24, 1959.
Mrs. Parker is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Henry Cole; and her grandson, Kyle Christopher Upton.
Carol is survived by her husband, John J. Parker; children, Bill Parker and wife, Linda, of Odessa, Fonda Evans and husband, Tommy, of Odessa; Judy Groce and husband, Tony, of Killeen, Texas; Brenda Stidham and husband, Jeff, of Odessa; grandchildren, Brandy Haynes, Allison Parker, Shawn Upton, Nicholas and Derrick Groce, Zack Stidham, Savannah Hazard, and Ryan, Josh, Sarah, and Samantha Lambert; sister, Pat Poisson; adopted daughters, Judy Robertson and Michelle Lambert; aunts, Judith Irwin, Deloris Mason and Bobby Ramsey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard Blaine Buford
Odessa - Richard Blaine Buford, 59, of Odessa, Texas, passed away September 1, 2005, at his residence.
Richard was born September 12, 1945, in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas, to Edward Blaine Buford and Zela Ruth Adkins. He married
Loretta Gail Marshall, May 8th, 1974, in Kermit, Texas, where Rick graduated from Kermit High School and then furthered his education at Odessa College in Odessa.
Rick, as he was called, was a professional welder. He worked for MGF Drilling Co. in Midland, Texas, in the 1980s, going from there to Hollice Clark in Odessa, Texas, and finishing his career with Pradon Construction Co. also in Odessa for 20 years until he was unable to work.
He was a sports enthusiast and participated in all sports, including boxing in the Kermit Schools. His picture appeared in the Winkler County News many times for excelling in a sporting event. Rick loved working with the Odessa Youth Program in football and baseball with his son, Blaine. He was looking forward to being a mentor for his only grandson, Braiden Blaine, and watching him excel in sports, also.
Rick was a Veteran of the Vietnam War receiving the Bronze Star/2, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal along with a Marksman Rifle Award. He also received recognition for being in the USAINTS-Intel Analyst and USAINTS-Interrogate. He will be buried with full Military Honors, presented by the Honor Guard from the VFW No. 4372.
Mr. Buford is preceded in death by his father, Edward “Skeet” Blaine Buford.
Rick is survived by his wife, Loretta Buford of Odessa, Texas; one son, Blaine G. Buford of Odessa; and his son, Braiden Blaine Buford of Odessa, “the joy of his life; ” two daughters, Briana Buford of Odessa, and Stefanee Buford of Odessa; his mother, Zelda Ruth Rives; one brother, David Buford of Odessa; two sisters, Katie Vickrey of Allen, Texas; and her two sons, Shane and his wife LaVonda Vickrey of Allen, Texas, and their three daughters, LaCrista, LaKayla, and Kelsie; and one son, Lance Vickery of Kermit, Texas; sister, Patsy and her husband Charlie Beck; and their two sons, Doyle and wife Susan Beck of Odessa, Texas, and their four children; one daughter, Regan L. Beck of Odessa; three sons; Dillan and Taylor Beck of Odessa, and Thomas Franks of Odessa; Charlie Beck Jr. and his two sons; Brice and Troy Beck of Odessa; uncles, J.D. Adkins of Buchanan Dam and Neil Dean Adkins of Odessa; also many cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on today, September 3rd, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 5, 2005, at Kingston Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas, with the Pastor John Taylor officiating with the assistance of brother Jorge Garcia and brother Robert Rowe.

James W. ‘Jim’ Bush
Odessa - James W. “Jim” Bush was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Waxahachie, Texas, and left us to be with his Lord on Aug. 29, 2005.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. in September of 1943 and served in the South Pacific on the islands of Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima. He was discharged in December of 1945. He married
Dorothy Voth on Nov. 23, 1946.
Survivors, other than his wife, include his sons, Stan and wife, Carolyn, of Baton Rouge, La., and Steve and wife, Danielle, of Farmington, N.M.; brother, Scott and wife, Mae, of Lubbock, Texas; three grandsons; three granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. His other survivors include an aunt, Scotty Jacobs of Waxahachie; and sister-in-law, Carol Baker and husband, Dale, of Odessa.
Jim was a Little League coach, active in Lions Club and taught Sunday school in White Deer, where the family resided from 1957 to 1971 and where their sons attended school. Due to health problems, since moving to Midland, attending church services became a problem; he read his Bible daily, reading it through three times until his health even prevented this. He enjoyed life, loved his family and his Maker, where he dwells now in his permanent home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Monte Kreis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your church or favorite charity.

Doris Nathane Veatch
ODESSA - Doris Nathane Veatch, age 74, a homemaker, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 2, 2005, at Hospice House in Odessa.
She was born July 5, 1931, to Thurmon and Jewel Brooks in Waco, TX, one of eight siblings. She married
Lonnie Veatch on July 30, 1947, in Odessa. She was a member of the Baptist Church, and a faithful wife for 58 years. She will be missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two siblings.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Veatch; sons, Don and Mike Veatch, all of Odessa; five siblings, and two grandchildren, Christina Ashing, and Cynthia Veatch.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Porterfield officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Billie Jean Myers
Midland - Billie Jean Myers passed away Friday, September 2, 2005 in Odessa.
She was born November 21, 1927 to Louis and Ida Belle Murphy in Amarillo, Texas. Billie married
Ray V. Myers in 1960 and moved to Odessa shortly after. She lived in Odessa until Ray retired and then they moved to Rochelle, Texas where they enjoyed traveling and spending time together. After Ray’s death in 2000, Billie moved to Midland to be closer to family. She was a hard working wife, mother, grandmother and friend and loved being a great-grandmother more than anything.
Billie was preceded in death by her loving husband Ray; her two sons, Dennis Morrison and Ricky Morrison; her parents Louis and Ida Belle Murphy; and two brothers, Louis Murphy and Leroy Murphy.
She is survived by her daughters, Gwendolyn Grigsby of Stephenville, TX and Beverly Myers of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell and Jeremy Mitchell of Odessa, TX, Shiloh Klein of Tyler, TX, Shawn Myers of Andrews, TX, Misty Morrison, of New York, NY, Misty Seales of Midland, TX and Ezra Grigsby of Stephenville, TX; her brothers, G. O. Murphy of Amarillo, TX and Jerry Murphy of Nacogdoches, TX; and six very precious great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home Monday, September 5, 2005 between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Monahans - Socorro Quiroz Hernandez, 64, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in Monahans.

Donald Reid Smith
Cedar Grove - Donald Reid Smith, of Sanderson, 80, a costume designer, died Saturday, June 30, 2005, in Odessa.

He was born in Sanderson. He was a Navy veteran and a Methodist.

James Donald ‘Jim’ Stinson
Lone Camp - James Donald “Jim” Stinson, 70, of Odessa, a retired truck driver, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at his residence.

He was born in Gordon. He was a U.S. Air Corps veteran.

STANTON - Margie Villa, 66, of Stanton, Texas, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at her residence.

She was born on May 12, 1939, in Hondo. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Weldon Earl ‘Socks’ Hunter
Kermit - Weldon Earl “Socks” Hunter, age 80, was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on November 14, 1924. He passed away on August 21, 2005, in Lubbock, Texas.
He was the youngest of six children. He graduated from Electra High School, Electra, Texas, on June 1, 1943. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard. Weldon proudly served his country from June of 1943 until March of 1946. He married
Peggy Jean Kimbrough on October 30, 1945, in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He lived in Kermit, Texas, from 1947 until 1996, when he moved to Lubbock, Texas.
Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife of 60-years, Peggy Kimbrough Hunter; two children, Welda Hunter Bates of Midland, Texas, and Dr. Danny Hunter and wife, Robin, of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Ryan Bates of Midland, and Jason Hunter, Eric Hunter and Briana Hunter, all of Lubbock; one brother, A. T. Hunter of Wichita Falls, Texas; and two sisters, Nell Carriker of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and Pauline Stanford of Electra.
Mr. Hunter was predeceased by his father, George Allen “Pat” Hunter and mother, Lula Harrison Hunter; and two brothers, Lue Allen Hunter and Odell Hunter.
In his younger years, Weldon enjoyed hunting, boating and raising show horses. He is a veteran of World War II Navy Armed Guard (Gunner); a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; a lifetime member of Masonic Blue Lodge No. 1258 in Kermit; member of Scottish Rite of El Paso, Texas; member of El Maida Shrine of El Paso; past-governor of Monahans Moose Lodge No. 2224; and member of Grace Temple Baptist Church of Kermit. Weldon retired from Gulf Oil Co. in 1983 after 36 years of service.
The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit. Graveside Services with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. at Kermit cemetery with the brother L. D. Green officiating.

Jacquelyn King
CRANE - Jacquelyn King, loving wife and mother, went home to her Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2005.
She was born July 6, 1957, in Odessa, Texas, and has been a resident of Crane for 16 years. She was married
to Norman King on November 1, 1975.
Jacque was employed as a secretary with Crane Independent School District for 17 years and was also employed by Stones Home Center. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, as well as many other community organizations.
She was preceded in death by her son, Trey King; her parents, Hersal and Arvilla Grant; and a brother, Michael Jerry Grant.
She is survived by her husband, Norman King; a son, Thomas King and daughter, Tara King, all of Crane; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Wanda Grant; sisters and brother-in-laws, Barbara and Cecil Hulsey, Kathy and Jonny Emmons, Julia and Bill Ward, and Tammy and Tony Bailey; mother-in-law, Gerry King of Odessa; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Richard and Sandy King, Russell and Cindy King, and Curtis and Pen King; 30 nieces, 34 nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Crane County cemetery.
