B. Ernestine Brewster
June 23, 1916 to July 8, 2005
ODESSA - Ernestine Brewster, loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully July 8, 2005, after suffering two strokes. Ernestine was born June 23, 1916, in Tahoka, Texas to John William and Sudie Nunn Boatright. On July 20, 1939, she married
Aubrey (Ben) E. Brewster. Ben passed shortly before their 64th Wedding Anniversary, but they had a lifetime of love and sharing. Their years together were blessed with four children: Beverly J. Brewster, L. Tom Brewster, Dennis C. Brewster and D. Scott Brewster. No one could ever have asked for better parents. Their three daughters-in-law were blessed with the same love that they shared so generously with their children.
After over two decades of employment with El Paso Natural Gas (El Paso Products), Ernestine retired having been presented with several awards as a valued employee throughout the years. She was the first to operate a special graphing machine that charted the volume of natural gas passing through the wells. A couple of years later, Ben joined her in retirement, thus providing more time to spend with their family.
As Charter members of Westminster Presbyterian Church, they shared the joy of watching their religious community flourish and grow. How proud they were when they moved into the new church. Losing her beloved husband on June 21, 2003, and her only daughter on October 4, 2003, Ernestine and her family were so grateful for the love and support shown to them by their pastor, Bob Sams, associate pastor, Cheryl Homsher, and the congregation at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
As a soft spoken, gentle woman, there was never any doubt that she had enduring strength. As she grieved the loss of her husband, daughter, two brothers and three sisters, you could see her faith was not shaken as she moved forward with her life. The most recent example of her independence was when she chose to move from her home of 52 years into Lincoln Tower where she developed new friendships. This new life brought her joy. We are grateful for all the friendships that were shared in that new life.
Ernestine’s final move on this earth was to Hospice House of Odessa where her daughter had passed just 21 months ago. Because of the love and compassion shown by the staff at Hospice House to her daughter, it was her desire to spend her final days there. Being able to fulfill this as one of Ernestine’s last wishes provided the family with much peace during this difficult time.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. L. Tom and Kay Brewster (Tulsa, OK), Dennis C. and Sally Brewster (Abilene, TX) and D. Scott and Mary Brewster (Albuquerque, N. M.); six grandchildren and their spouses: Sheila and Donald Armour; Sonya Brewster; Rhett and Danielle Brewster; Devin Brewster and his fiancée, Christy Akers; Heidi and Heath Brantingham; and Heather and Tom Donga; and 4 great-grandchildren: Zachary and Nathan Zaloudek; Eleah and Analeese Brewster.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the following: Westminster Presbyterian Church or Hospice House of Odessa. A graveside service will be held to celebrate Ernestine’s life on Monday, July 11, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Sams officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

“For you to love while she lives, And mourn for when she’s dead.”
“It may be six or seven years Or twenty-two or three, But will you ‘till I call her back, Take care of her for me?”
“She’ll bring her charms to gladden you And should her stay be brief, You’ll have the precious memories To comfort you through grief.”
I cannot promise she will stay since all from the earth return. But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.”
