Reaford Reed

CARLSBAD, N.M. -- Reaford "Peanut" Reed, 71, of Odessa, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with the Rev. Raymond Bugg officiating. Arrangements by Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.

He was born in Fort Worth. He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors: Wife, Barbara Reed of Carlsbad; sons, Michael Prince and Robert Prince, both of Odessa; daughter, Barbara Turner of Arlington; brothers, Darrell Reed, Robert Reed and James Loyd Reed, all of Carlsbad, N.M.; sister, Dorothy Oney of El Paso; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Minnie Wonzer

ODESSA -- Minnie Emma Wonzer, 77, of Odessa, a retired co-owner and waitress of a cafe, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at SPJST Rest Home in Taylor.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Condra Funeral Home in Taylor.

She was born in McAllister, Okla., and was a 49-year resident of Odessa before moving to Taylor. She was a Methodist.

Survivors: Step-daughters, Marilyn Frazier of Austin, Dotti Burns of Fort Worth; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Atilana Salgado

ODESSA -- Atilana Salgado, 30, of Odessa died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at his residence.

Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Alvaro Abila

PECOS -- Alvaro Abila, 42, of Pecos, a roughneck, died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at Reeves County Hospital.

Rosary was said at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Barstow cemetery in Pecos. Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Pecos. He was Catholic.

Survivors: Wife, Sofia Abila of Pecos; son, Alvaro Abila Jr. of Pecos; daughters, Shirley Abila and Cassandra Abila both of Pecos; mother, Magalena Abila of Pecos; grandmother, Shona Abila of Barstow; brothers, Robert Abila, Roman Mata Jr., Jackie Hernandez all of Pecos and Ruben Hernandez of Midland; sisters, Lucy Ortiz, Mary Gallego, Ana Moody all of Pecos, Elautreia Sandoval of Odessa, and MaryJean Lyles of Midland and one grandchild.

Nellie Covington

MIDLAND -- Nellie Grace Covington, 82, of Midland, a homemaker, died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at Rockwood Manor in Midland.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. D.L. (Sam) Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Kermit. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Indian Creek.

Survivors: Sons, Larry Covington and Freddie Covington both of Fairacres, N.M., and Sherman Covington of Grove City, Ohio; daughters, Ruth Rambo and Darlene Self both of Odessa and Nancy Hewett of Victoria; sisters, Floy Sawyer of Robert Lee; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Opal Dunigan

ODESSA -- Opal Lilly Dunigan, 83, of Odessa, a hairdresser, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Wayne County, Ill. She was Presbyterian.

Survivors: Husband, Thomas O. Dunigan of Odessa; daughter, Virginia Williamson of Albion, Ill.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James Harry

ODESSA -- James Richard Harry, 68, of Odessa, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at a later date. He will be cremated. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Steel, Mo.

Survivors: Wife, Georgia Harry; daughter, Sandra Kay Kelcherside of Stegenevieve, Mo., Darlene Heberlie of Perryville, Md.; stepson, Patrick Slatton of Odessa; sisters, Flora Cash and Maria Veal of Potosi, Mo., and seven grandchildren.

Willis Lowe

ODESSA -- Willis "PeeWee" Lowe, 74, of Odessa, the retired owner of E&S Auto Parts, died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Tabernacle with the Rev. Scott Sprouse officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Corsicana and came to Odessa from Winters in the 1950s. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors: Wife, Reba Lowe of Odessa; sons, Willis A. `Dub' Lowe Jr. of Allen and Richard Lynn Lowe of Fayetteville, Ga.; mother, Gertrude Lowe of Abilene; brother, Alton Lowe of Abilene; sister, Flo Savage of Houston; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jerry Silhavy

ODESSA -- Jerry Silhavy, 83, of Odessa, died Monday, May 25, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bob Bratcher officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Chicago, Ill. He was Baptist.

Survivors: Wife, Opal Silhavy of Odessa; nephew, Albert Silhavy of Dellfield, Wis. and niece, Annie Thome of Dewaukee, Wis.

Juna Silvas

ODESSA -- Juna Silvas, 79, of Odessa, died Monday, May 25, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at a later date in Santa Elena, Mexico. Burial will be in Santa Elena, Mexico. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.

He was born in Alpine.

Survivors: Sons, Sixto Silvas of Odessa, Teodoro Silvas of Midland, Juan Silvas of Fort Stockton, Agapito Silvas, Veto Silvas both of Santa Elena, Mexico and Guillermo Silvas of Lovington, N.M.; daughters, Simona Silvas of Midland, Macara Silvas of Odessa, Dominga Silvas and Rosa Silvas both of Santa Elena, Mexico; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Donald Townsend

CRANE -- Donald C. Townsend, 80, of Crane, a retired pumper for Atlantic Richfield, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Crane Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Richard W. Box Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Miracle officiating. Graveside services will also be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the City cemetery in Nocona. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Home.

He was born in Healdton, Okla. He was Methodist.

Survivors: Wife, Fern Townsend of Crane; daughters, Storm Evans of Philadelphia, Pa., Susan Loyless of Crane, Claudia Wolfe of Llano, Ann Blanton of Charleston, S.C. and Jill Hudgens of Tow; son, Graham Don Townsend of Bowling Green, Ky.; brothers, Dr. Charles Townsend of Canyon and Edd Townsend of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Gilberto Navarette Sr.

ODESSA -- Gilberto V. Navarette Sr., 63, of Odessa, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
