Barbara Sue Luck

Odessa - Barbara Sue Luck, 62, of Odessa, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at her residence.
She was born April 6, 1943, in Lampasas.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2005, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2005, at Lampasas cemetery.
Barbara was a science teacher at Nimitz Junior High for 13 years and was a manager at Doby’s Bar-B-Q and Thelma’s Cafe. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife. Since retiring, she enjoyed spending time caring for her animals and her garden.
She is survived by her son, Joel Luck of Arlington; daughters, Cheryl Luck of Galveston, and Melissa Thornell of Plano; sister, Francene Hodges and husband, Wade, of Odessa; grandchildren, Amber Blatney, Audrey Thornell, Aryn Thornell and Angelina Luck.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Twilla G. Dorough

Odessa - Twilla G. Dorough, 82, of Odessa, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born November 18, 1922, in Terry County, Texas, to E.A. and Allie Graham. She married Tom T. Dorough on May 2, 1949, in Brownfield, Texas.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at St. Andrew’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Internment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum in Lubbock, Texas.
Twilla moved to Odessa in 1973 from Cario, Egypt. She was a homemaker and was an active member of St. Andrew’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom T. Dorough; and a son, Philip Hobert Dorough.
She is survived by her son, Tom S. Dorough of Odessa; daughter, Diedre Dorough of Leander, Texas; sister, Wanda Amo of Ohio; grandson, Tommy Buck Dempsey and wife, Mandy, of Midland; and their sons, Hunter and Brayden Dempsey, both of Midland. She was loved by so many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at St. Andrew’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1514 N. Grandview, Odessa, TX 79761.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

John L. Gleason

Rocklin, Calif. - John was born July 3rd, 1942, in Williams, Okla. He died May 28th, 2005, in Rocklin, Calif. He was 62 years old.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Robin of Rocklin. They have four children, Johnny Bob Gleason of Roland, Okla., Regan Eaton of Bentenville, Ark., Eden Gonzalez of Reno, Nev., and Jeff Gleason of Minot, N.D. He has eight grandchildren; and his little dog, Veto. John is also survived by his three sisters, Janette Kirkendoll of Stigler, Okla., Judy Newkirk of Purcell, Okla., and Betty White of Odessa.
Preceding him in death was his mother and father, Jim and Jewell Gleason; and a sister, Mary Jane Gleason.
John was big man, not just in size but he had a big heart. He was a traveling man for many years, until he met Robin. She stole his heart and he stole hers. They were soul mates. John was always laughing and having a good time. John married Robin on Oct. 22, 1988, in Reno, Nev. They were a blessing for each other. John was a master brick mason by trade. His work was well known all over the country. John would not want anyone to mourn his passing but to smile and remember all the good times you had with him. He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

Sherman Lee ‘Newt’ Newton

Odessa - Sherman Lee “Newt” Newton, 80, longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1925, in Mirando City. He was raised in Corsicana. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1951, he married Nancy Williamson in Odessa. He worked in the maintenance department for Odessa College for seven years, and worked as a sawman for O.I.M.E. for several years. Since 1992, he owned a yard service co. He is a member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ. He enjoyed reading, watching TV and he loved to tell jokes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee and Maude Newton; and brother, Phillip Newton.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Newton of Odessa; son, Kevin Lee Newton and finance, Rhonda Perry, of Groesbeck; daughters, Wendy Hamblin and husband, Mike, of San Antonio, and Laura Newton Sawyers of Odessa; brother, Arthur E. Newton of Florida; sister, Zelma Wucher of Austin; and three grandchildren, William Hernandez and Terra and Cody Perry.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Eisenhower Church of Christ with Jeff Sweeten officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Odessa Christian School.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jerry Hotchkin

Odessa - Jerry Hotchkin took his final adventurous journey when he left this world for his heavenly home on Thursday, July 12, 2005.
Jerry was born in Jackson, Mich., Sept. 22, 1928, to F. Elwyn and Margaret Smith Hotchkin. During the great depression, his dad moved the family to a farm in Harper Springs, Mich., where they lived off the land.
In 1953, Jerry met and married Faith Schurman Hotchkin in Lansing, Mich. They had one daughter, Patrice, and two sons, Robert and John. Jerry was in the service in Okinawa in 1955 and 1956.
In 1968, Jerry moved his family to Andrews, where he owned and operated a carpet store and a body shop. He later became a farmer and custom harvester.
The Lord called Jerry to pastor Faith Christian Outreach in West Odessa in 1980. Jerry and his wife, Faith, traveled and ministered in Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan and India. In 1990, they resigned as pastors from the church and went fulltime as missionaries and evangelists. One of the greatest adventures was spending two weeks in Albania.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Elwyn and Margaret Hotchkin of Odessa.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Faith Hotchkin; his brother, Edgar Hotchkin and his wife, Kathy, of Pasadena, Calif.; his three children, Patrice Smith and her husband, Brad, of Odessa, Robert Hotchkin and his wife, Nancy, of Corpus Christi, and John Hotchkin and his wife, Beth, of Bridgeport; his seven grandchildren; and his three great-grandchildren.
Services have been set for 2 p.m. today, July 15, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Demetro officiating. A private burial will be held.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Mathew Johansen, Charles Hotchkin, John A. Hotchkin, Jared Hotchkin, Robert Hotchkin, John F. Hotchkin, Jim Hotchkin and Brad Smith.
Services are by Odessa Funeral Home.

Lorina Gonzales Tercero

Odessa - Lorina Gonzales Tercero, 71, beloved wife, precious mother and adored grandmother entered into rest and peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Home Hospice.
Lorena was born on March 3, 1934, in Marfa. She will be remembered by so many in such special ways and with such fond memories that it is impossible to list them all. Her roles as wife, mother and grandmother were always what was most dear to her.
God saw her getting tired, and a cure was to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered, “Come to me.” With tearful eyes we watched her and saw her pass away and though we love her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating and hard working hands at rest, though our hearts are broken, we have chosen our Lord Jesus Christ and we have this hope and promise that we will see each other again soon. We love you.
Mrs. Tercero was preceded in death by her husband, Abelardo Tercero; her parents, Adolfo and Maria Gonzales; and father and mother-in-law Dometila and Pedro Tercero.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Tercero; sons, Adam and wife Julia Rubalcado, Orlando Rubalcado, Richard Tercero and wife Delma Tercero and Rudy Tercero, all of Odessa; bothers, Rudy, Robert Gonzales and Ismael Gonzales and wife, Maria, all of Odessa; sister, Natalia and husband Raul Quiroz of Odessa; sisters-in-law, Lucy and husband Rufus Fuentes of Odessa, and Maria Elena Natividad of Farmers Branch; brother-in-law, Jose and wife Gloria Tercero of Snyder; grandchildren, Augustine, Alex, Jeremy, Lisa, Michelle, Lori and Lynette Rubalcado, Daniel, Rachel and Dinah Tercero, Ricky, Rudy and Tiffany Patino and Jerica Morales; four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home with an open floor service at 7 p.m.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at Odessa Christian Faith Center, 8860 N. Andrews Highway, with the Rev. Don Kaywood officiating. Interment will follow at RoseHill cemetery.
We, the Tercero family, would like to express and extend a heartfelt embrace to the staffs of Deerings Nursing Home and Home Hospice for all the wonderful caring love that was given to our beloved mother. A special thanks to Joel Gonzales and the Staff at Odessa Funeral Home; thank you for all your kind help. May God bless you all, abundantly.

Marcia Elaine Weesner

Odessa - Marcia Elaine Weesner, 40, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in Odessa.
She was born Sept. 10, 1964, in Odessa. Elaine was a very strong and outgoing person. She gave us laughter and wonderful memories.
She is preceded in death by grandmother, Mildred Lee; sister, Cindy Weesner; aunt, Annette Drummond; and grandson, Brandon Lee Wayne Hunter.
She is survived by her parents, Marcia and Elvis Copeland of Odessa, and Bob Weesner of Dallas; brother, Bobby Weesner of Odessa; daughters, Melody Weesner and Crystal Hunter, both of Odessa, four grandchildren, Wesley Weesner, Christina Hunter and Christopher Scarborough, all of Odessa, and Kyla Sutton of Monahans; aunts and uncles, Sharon and Forest Buenger, Robert Drummond and Donna and Steve Bell, all of Odessa; grandfather, Cecil Cox; longtime friends, Dale Seegraves of Odessa, and Ronnie Norris of Midland; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
We will always hold her in our hearts and miss her.
Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Zion Christian Church, 9300 W. 26th St., Odessa, with Dr. Dewey Blevins officiating.

Kylie Lyn Branch

Midland - Kylie Lyn Branch, born Jan. 31, 1989, as a redheaded fireball, was killed on Saturday, July 9, 2005, in an automobile accident in Breckenridge. A fire put out entirely too soon.
She was born in Midland to Joey and Melody Branch and was raised in Midland. Kylie attended Midland Lee Freshman School, where she was involved in the choir. Kylie was very excited about starting her sophomore year at Lee High School. She was a member of Ranchland Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jody Branch; her grandfather, James Milloway; and her maternal great-grandmother, Gladys Steele.
Kylie is survived by her mother, Melody Branch of Midland; stepfather, Larry Wallum of Midland; sister, Amber Ashwood of Midland; stepbrother, Brian Wallum and step-sister, Meagan Wallum, both of Odessa; grandparents, Darrell and Sherry Doss of Midland, and Katrina Milloway of Gainesville; aunt and uncles, Simon and Dawn Barr of Midland, Tim Cannon of Gainesville, and Bryan Cannon of Avon, Colo.; cousins, Alexandria and Samantha Barr of Midland, Blake Barnett of Tomball, and Aidan Cannon of Gainesville; great-aunt and great-uncles, Fred and Judy Collins and family of Waxahachie, Richard Clay and family of Fairbanks, Alaska; former stepfather, Kerry Ashwood and his fiance, Krista Fowler of Midland. Also surviving her are numerous extended Bolin family relatives, Aunt Brooke and Aunt Jana; and friends too numerous to name.
Kylie enjoyed being with all of her friends and “hanging out.” She also enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing with her grandparents. She enjoyed singing and listening to music. Her passion for life was contagious and you hardly ever saw her without her smile shining brightly.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, July 12, at Ellis Funeral Home.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway, Midland, (432) 683-5555.
Pallbearers will be: Tom Becker, Chris Evans, Brandon Stuart, Kerry Ashwood, Ian Paige and Kyle Wilson.

Jane Lea

Midland - Jane Clark Lea, of Midland, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2005.
Jane was born on Jan. 1, 1931, in Odessa, Texas, to John E. and Florence Clark. While she and her family still lived and ranched in Crane County, Jane met Walter Lea whose family was also involved in ranching. Jane and Walter married on July 15, 1950, and moved to Dallas, where they started their family. Jane and Walter lived in the Dallas and Denton areas until 1994, when Walter became ill. Jane and Walter moved to Midland soon after Walter’s illness where Jane resided until her death.
Throughout her life, Jane exemplified the Christian spirit that so many of us seek. To know Jane was to know grace, love, generosity and kindness. We will miss her warmth and humor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; and her brother, John Clark.
Jane is survived by her brother, William F. Clark of Odessa; her daughters and son-in-laws, Rebecca and Nick Henderson of Arden, N.C., and Lisa and Tom McGee of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; her son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Melinda Lea of Midland; and her uncle, Richard B. Whittenburg of Odessa. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.
Memorial services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity with the Rev. Dr. Mark Cannaday officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway, Midland, (432) 683-5555.

Ann Parrish

Midland - Ann Sloan Parrish, of Midland, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2005.
She was born Aug. 6, 1941, in Plainview, Texas, to Robert S. Sloan and Ruth Hillman Sloan. The family moved to Lubbock and later to Midland in 1948. Ann graduated from Midland High School and worked at the Credit Bureau of Midland and at Energas, retiring in 1989 with twenty years of service. On May 14, 1977, she married Owen Parrish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Gaye Akins.
Ann is survived by her husband, Owen Parrish of Midland; brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Ruth Sloan of Midland; nephew, Steve Sloan and his wife, Traci, of Big Spring; three nieces, Susan Robinson and her husband, David, of Midland, Sarah Abbott and her husband, Mike, of Midland, and Melissa Miltonberger and her husband, Neil, of Chicago; grandnieces, Danielle and Kaitlin Robinson; and grandnephews, Christian and Matthew Sloan.
Ann’s family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Shylesh Ganta and Dr. Gregory Bartha for the care and understanding they gave, and also to the staff of Midland Hospice Inpatient Unit for the comfort and support they provided.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, July 12, at Ellis Funeral Home.
