Mildred May Lincoln

Odessa - Mildred May Lincoln, 90, of Odessa, passed away March 30, 2005, in Odessa.
She was born in Vivian, La. April 27, 1914, to Levester and Banna May. She had one brother, Sonny May. She was a member of Parkview Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; husband, John V. Lincoln; and her only son, Jimmy Ivins Sr.
Mildred is survived by her three grandsons, Jimmy Jr. and John and his wife, Tyra, both of Odessa, and Bill Ivins of Aztec, N.M; her daughter-in-law, Patsy Ivins; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Denis Dillon officiating.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jimmie Pauline Snapp

Robertson County - Jimmie Pauline Snapp, of Bronte, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, March 31, 2005.
Viewing will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at Shaffer Funeral Home in Bronte.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at First Baptist Church of Bronte with the Rev. Morris Johnson officiating. Burial and graveside rites will be at Henry Prairie cemetery.
She was born in Robertson County Aug. 16, 1941, to the late, James F. Morgan and Lois Mae Vann Morgan. Retiring from Snapp Lease Works, Jimmie and George moved to Bronte, where Jimmie was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Bronte. She was a member of the RSVP where she volunteered with Salvation Army and, her first love, Bronte Nursing Home Auxiliary, where she spent countless hours before she fell ill. Jimmie attended Franklin and Bryan schools and also attended Business College in San Angelo.
She is proceeded in death by her parents and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, George Snapp of Bronte; two daughters, Vickie Parker and her husband, Alan, of Robert Lee, and Teri Gardner and husband, Rick, of Blanchard, Okla.; one son, Lea Daggett and wife, Revis, of Lajitas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Jimmy Snapp and wife, Beth, and David Snapp and wife, Derri, both of Odessa; two stepdaughters, Karen Phillips and husband, Ricky, of Odessa, and Annette DiStasi and husband, Gus, of Carrollton; and seven step-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Janis Morgan Lefevre of Franklin; two brothers, Larry Morgan of Bryan, and Bill Morgan of Franklin; one special uncle, Travis Morgan and aunt, Ione, of Franklin; special friend, Dr. Marsha Daggett of Fort Stockton; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Freddy Crumpler, Scott Boughton, Billy Stokes, Keith Fletcher, Joe Draper, Ronnie Mills, Manuel Sanchez and Jim Guthrie.

John B. Preston

Dallas - John B. Preston, 89, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1916, to John and Rebecca Preston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Baptist.
He is survived by his nephew, Johnny Q. Ward of Dripping Springs; and nieces; Becca Kennedy of Crane, and Omega Preston and Paula Chambers, both of Odessa.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Odessa Funeral Home.
Military Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, at Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery.
Services are by Odessa Funeral Home.

Billie Carlene Matheny-Spisak

Odessa - Carlene Matheny-Spisak, 54, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at her residence. Car went to Latter Rain Worship Center.
Services will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 2 p.m. with the Pastors Craig and Sissie DeArmond officiating, of Latter Rain Worship Center. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Carlene is survived by her husband, Bill Spisak; daughter, Christine Matheny of Austin; sons; Curtis Matheny and wife, Christina, of Austin, and Michael Matheny and wife, Tresa, of Fort Worth; brother, Michael Wilson and wife, Sue, of Odessa; and grandchildren, Justin, Kelsey, Garrett, and Dylan.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Esther Malka Fisher

ODESSA - Esther Malka Fisher passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital, with her husband of 66 years by her side, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. May 29, 1915, to Nathan and Fannie Rosenberg.
The family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Esther was a tremendous athlete excelling in tennis, golf and track. In High School she was the State Basketball Free Throw Champ, sinking 48 out of 50 throws.
In 1935 while attending junior college at Jewish People’s Institute in Chicago, Esther met Sam Fisher and they married two years later. From Chicago they moved to Tyler, Texas where both children were born, first Burt and then Carolyn. It was there that Sam began practicing optometry. In 1946, the family moved to Odessa, where they opened Fisher Optical Company on North Grant Avenue. Esther was loved by so many of their patients, as she worked in his practice for many years.
Above all, she will be remembered for her community service. She served on the Board of the Girl Scouts; was a den mother for the boy scouts; was the first sponsor of the BBYO youth group; and taught some skills to disadvantaged children. The De Molay organization also profited from her energy. Esther Fisher was a fixture at Medical Center Hospital from the inception of the Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Northside Senior Center, where she helped serve meals or worked in the kitchen. She volunteered at the local library, food bank and was a member of the Temple Beth El Sisterhood for 59 years. She was a founding member of the temple.
In 1971, she was honored as Volunteer of the Year by radio station, KQIP-FM. Mrs. Fisher was frequently referred to as one of the most beautiful women in Odessa.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Sam Fisher; daughter, Carolyn Kwiatek of Mountain View, Calif.; son, Dr. Burt Fisher of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughters Melody Nolan of Sacramento, Calif., and the late, Dawn Fisher; and one nephew, Dr. David Rosenberg.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rabbi Sidney Zimelman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to Temple Beth El, 1501 North Grandview Ave., Odessa, TX 79761.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Elvina Josephine Davis

Odessa - Elvina Josephine Davis, 75, of Midland, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Detroit, Mich. She moved to Texas in 1949 and was a longtime resident of Eden. She was a great cook and cake baker. She taught CCD classes. She loved baseball and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Florene Velma Atwood and husband, Delton, of Paint Rock, Lynne Francine Davis of Round Rock, and Rebecca D. Pierson and Deborah Carlo Davis, both of Midland; four grandchildren, Frank Dewayne Atwood of Big Spring, Carol-Lynne Jane Hood and husband, Eric, of Keller, Elvina Rachalle Kraus of Virginia, and Samuel Douglas Caldwell of Austin; and great-grandchild, Jorey Noël Hood of Keller.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Bridges officiating.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Carlos Charlie Loya Jr.

Odessa - Grandpa Charlie went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 31, 2005.
He was born March 27, 1932, in Alpine to Beatrice and Carlos Loya Sr. He was owner of Loya’s Body Shop. He was a member of the Lions Club, Pan American Golf Association, Eagles Lodge, and the Holy Name Society. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. He was known and loved for his kindness and love for all.
He is preceded in death by his twin daughters, Mary and Terry Loya; and his parents, Beatrice Adamson and Carlos Loya Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Aida Ramirez Loya of Odessa; daughters, Florinda Loya Deporto and husband, Martin, of Odessa, Nelda Loya Guerra and husband, Abel, of Odessa; mother-in-law, Aida Ramirez of Odessa; brothers, Rudy Loya of Ruidoso, N.M., Monroe Adamson of Tow, and Jasper Adamson of Alpine; sisters, Mary Martinez, Kate Dominguez and Josie Galindo, all of Carlsbad, N.M., Rosie Arp of Tow, Elizabeth Valenzuela of Kermit, and Mildred Robles of Alpine; five grandchildren, Andrea Olivarez and husband, Danny; Brian Subia and wife, LuVina, Marcus Doporto and wife, Jessica, Fabian Subia and Tiffany Guerra; and three great-grandchildren, Steven, Alyssa and Sevon Olivarez.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
The family expresses special thanks to: Star Hospice, Ravi and Madhu Shakamuri and their nurses, Michael, Toni, Mary, Kim and Sabrina, his caregiver, Maria Elena Padilla, family and friends.

Billie Carlene Matheny-Spisak

Odessa - Billie Carlene Matheny-Spisak, 54, of Odessa, passed away on March 30, 2005, at her residence in Odessa.
Car was born on Oct. 13, 1950, to Carl and Billie Wilson of Odessa. She went to Permian High School. Car worked for Eckel Manufacturing for over 20 years. I would like to thank all of the people at Eckel for putting up with her, but she must have been doing something right for being there that long. They were like family. As we all know Car loved life. She also had a love for music, the water, and dolphins. Carlene grew up with a bunch of friends that she still has to this day. They are Betty, Sandra, Linda, Kathy, Terry, Pattie, Angie, Danny, and Bennie, can’t forget Bennie.
Now, Carlene will be free of pain and party with the rest of the family. Carlene loved to be outside in the mountains of Ruidoso, N.M., where the wind would blow through her hair and being free or watching the shooting stars. Being in the mountains was as close to Heaven as you could get on Earth. The other love of her life are her kids; Christy, Curtis, and Michael, watching them grow up and having kids of their own. To the grandkids, Justin, Kelsey, Garrett, and Dylan, memaw will always be with you. And finally to the Star Hospice and Dr. Khandelwal, thank you for taking such great care of Carlene.
Carlene will be greatly missed here on Earth, but I know there are a lot of people waiting on her. Peace be with you baby and no more pain. I love you.
Carlene was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Carl Wilson.
Carlene is survived by her husband, Bill Spisak; daughter, Christy Matheny; sons, Curtis Matheny and wife, Christina, and Michael Matheny and wife, Tresa; brother, Michael Wilson and wife, Sue; four grandchildren; all of her dear friends; and two dogs, Britt and Princess.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. April 2, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastors Craig and Sissie DeArmond, of Latter Rain Worship Center, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mae Keefer Henry

BIG SPRING - Mae Keefer Henry, beloved mother and grandmother, age 102, passed from this life at Mountain View Lodge on Friday, April 1, 2005.
She was born Oct. 17, 1902, in Polk County.
She was married to Lemuel Keefer, a farmer, who preceded her in death in 1947. Together, they had six sons.
After Mr. Keefer’s death, she married Wylie Henry, a truck driver for McAllister Trucking Firm in Big Spring. Mr. Henry also preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons, Roy Keefer of Big Spring, C.P. “Red” Keefer and wife Jewel of Maypearl and L.D. Keefer and wife Gayle of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and six great-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ruthie McGee of Cleveland, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Jim Keefer of Big Spring, Levi Keefer of Houston and Robert Keefer of Woodville; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Henry was an accomplished seamstress and tailor, making wedding garments, also suits and other clothing for many residents of Big Spring, Stanton and Odessa.
Her talents were many, among which were making friends quickly and cooking lavish holiday dinners for her large family.
Mae was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Big Spring and later of Grace Baptist Church of Odessa, where she made lasting friendships.
Funeral services will at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2005, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton officiating and Dr. Claude Craven assisting. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

Leslie Bowman Henderson Jr.

ODESSA - Leslie Bowman Henderson Jr., age 81, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Crane Nursing and Rehab Center in Crane, Texas.
He was born Jan. 17, 1924, to Leslie B. Sr., and Lula Henderson in Odessa. He was a retired pipe fitter and a member of the Plumber and Pipe Fitter Union Local 654, and a member of the Methodist church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed on a LST as a Gunner.
Survivors include his aunt, Faye Henderson of Odessa; cousin, Sonny Henderson of Odessa; sisters, Hazel Frances Whitlock of Bouse, Ariz., Dorothy Yarbrough of Fort Worth, Texas, and June Scheller of Lake Buchanan, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Blossom Matthews officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Kathleen Milling

MILLERSVIEW - Kathleen Milling, 73, of Millersview, passed away at her residence on Friday, April 1, 2005, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Hot Springs, Ark., to the late Louis and Winnie Short.
She married the love of her life, James D. Milling, on Jan. 14, 1965.
Kathleen was a beautiful soul, who could see the best in all and knew the needs of most. She loved life and lived it to its fullest, never taking anything for granted. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Paint Rock. She will be missed dearly by all and never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Edwards; and stepfather, Bill Denson.
She is survived by her husband, James Milling of Millersview; daughter, Eugenia Watkins of Roundrock; granddaughters, Sabrina McKee of Midland, Katrina Clark of Odessa and Midland and Kizzy Collier of Fredericksburg; great-grandchildren, Caleb Haynie, Joshua Clark, Micah Haynie, Michaela Clark, Coby Palmer and Teagan Collier.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2005, at Concho cemetery with Pastor Chad Barnett officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Watkins, John McKee, James Clark, Caleb Haynie, Josh Clark, Micah Haynie and Ben Collier.
The family will receive friends at the Brunson Center immediately following the service.
