Dale Weldon Duncan
ODESSA - Dale Weldon Duncan, 49, a lifelong resident of Odessa, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1955, in Odessa, to Weldon and Johnnie Duncan. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1973.
He was Vice President and Sales Manger for Metal Specialties. He coached for his girls softball teams. He enjoyed playing golf.
He is preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa Davila and husband Gerardo of Odessa and Jennifer Duncan of Phoenix, Ariz.; mother, Johnnie Duncan of Odessa; sisters, Sandra Wood and husband Pete of Nashville, Texas, and Rita McKinney and husband Richard of Colorado City; one granddaughter, who called him “Big Daddy Cool, ” Harley Couch.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Helen Ruth Pierce
ODESSA - Helen Pierce, 54, of Odessa, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
Helen Pierce was a school teacher at Milam Elementary for five years.
Helen was preceded in death by her dad, Louis Randolph Upchurch; two brothers, Robert Randolph Upchurch and Tommy Wayne Upchurch. She is survived by her mother, Lillian Irene Upchurch of Cleburne, Texas; brother, Richard Lee Upchurch and wife Nancy; niece, April Dawn Upchurch; sisters, Kathy Dugan of Odessa and Betty Huffaker, of Odessa; nephew, Shawn Huffaker; nieces, Cheryleen Lynette Glisson and husband Darrin and their two children Chrasha Lynn and Devon Lewis of Odessa and Rhonda Jane Hargrove and husband Bob of Franklin, Texas; nephew, Johnny Lee Dugan Jr., Kelsi Ernst and son Nicholas Lee of Odessa.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at First United Pentecostal Church with Pastor J.T. Pugh and Pastor Terry Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Pall bearers will be: Roy Pierce, Keith Huffaker, Johnny Dugan, Jr. Darrin Glisson, Bob Hargrove and Jack Brown.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Byrle Jay Chase
Odessa - Byrle Jay Chase, 45, passed away Friday, April 15, 2005, at his residence in Odessa.
He was born Feb. 5, 1960, to Byrle, Jr. and Myrtice Faye Chase in Amarillo. He was a dispatcher. He loved to sing karaoke, and work was his main hobby. He will be remembered as always being there to do for others.
Survivors include his sons, Bryan Jason Chase and Todd Allen Chase, both of Odessa; parents, Byrle and Myrtice Chase of Odessa; brother, James Patrick Chase of Odessa; and sisters, Donna Woody and husband, Randy, of Odessa, and Rhonda Wendeborn and husband, Johnny, of Andrews.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Victory Temple Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Randall Mitchell officiating and the Rev. Gayle Reeves assisting.

Sean McKinnis
Odessa - Sean McKinnis, 20, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born April 28, 1984, in Odessa. He graduated from Permian High School in 2002.
He is survived by his parents, David and Julie McKinnis of Odessa; sister, Sally Jo McKinnis of Odessa; grandmother, Jo Edith Brown of Odessa; and uncle, Adrian Blumberg of Austin.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Bethel Assembly of God Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials, may, be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Sean McKinnis’ name.

Minnie L. White
Odessa - To Him a child was born, Minnie L. White’s sunrise was Feb. 8, 1930, and her sunset was Saturday, April 16, 2005.
Minnie White, 75, was born to Horace and Rose Cannon in Mexia, who both preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. White will be today from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Matthew Baptist Church, 809 Barrett Drive, with the Rev. Henry Lovelady officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Whitfield and Jesse Whitfield.
She is survived by daughters, Yvonne White and husband, Emmitt, of Odessa, Deborah Allen of Houston, and Laurie Clack of Odessa; sons, Samuel David White and wife, Loretta, of Dallas, Lester Charles White and wife, Patricia, of Andrews, and Eddie Collins of Houston; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Chad Edward Campbell
Odessa - Chad Edward Campbell was born September 13, 1973, in Odessa to Prinny Ham and Tommy Campbell. God rescued Chad on May 7, 2005, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Chad attended school in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School in May 1992, where he was on the varsity tennis team. Chad had great athletic abilities and played many sports excelling in tennis. He toured the U.S.T.A. tournament circuit and achieved a state ranking, during his high school years. After graduation, Chad worked in sales for various companies until his death. His big heart and bright smile will be forever etched in our memories. His mother will always remember him as a most devoted and loving son to her. He will always and forever be a part of her. The love she had for her son knew no boundaries.
“You were a part of everything that I thought, and did, and felt. And when you were with me, I believed that anything was possible. Thank you, Chad, for the love you brought me, and taught me and thank you for the miracle of you….You are, and always will be the love of my life.”

Chad was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Thelma “Nana” Barham of Odessa; paternal grandparents, Doris and Paul Campbell; and maternal grandmother, Rosemary Parks.
His survivors include his parents, Prinny and Doug Ham of Odessa, and Tom and Nancy Campbell of Midland; stepbrothers, Josh Ham and wife, Diane, and Justin Ham and wife, Jill, both of Midland; sister, Anna Campbell of Midland; aunts and uncles, Gina Farrell of Odessa, Les Ming of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Andy Campbell and Pat Campbell, both of Odessa; numerous cousins; his best friend, Mark Harcrow of Dallas; and his best dog-pal, “Reese.”

Alta Holley
Odessa - Alta Holley, 99, formerly of Odessa, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005, in Marble Falls.
Alta was born Sept. 17, 1905, to Louis Eubank and Ora Black Eubank in Teague County. The family moved to Scurry County in a covered wagon, when she was two-weeks old. She married
W.J. “Pete” Holley in Ira Nov. 22, 1922. After spending many years working in the West Texas oilfields, they moved to Odessa for the third time Dec. 8, 1941.
Her family was the greatest interest of her life. She was a seamstress for many years and she was very creative with her sewing, until the end of her life. She made special pillows, pillowcases and decorative towels for the kitchen and bathroom for all of her family and friends. She was a Christian and a member of the Church of God.
Alta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete Holley; two sisters; two brothers; one son, Leon M. Holley; and a son-in-law, J.B. Eller.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Eller of Marble Falls; son, Joe Holley and wife, Johnnie, of Odessa, and Weldon Holley and wife, Francis of Italy, Texas; brother, Wayne Eubanks of Synder; and sister, Coy Dee Mabine of Synder. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today, May 14, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Roy Smalling officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Edgar Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
Oscar James Kniffen
MIDLAND - O.J. “B” Kniffen passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005, in Big Spring.
He was born April 30, 1916, to Oscar J. Kniffen and Roberta Richards Kniffen in Clyde and was raised and educated there.
On Sept. 4, 1937, he married
Katherine Marie Neithercult. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. In 1976, he began the development of Kniffen Estates in East Midland. He loved spending time gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
“B” is survived by his sister, Madge Paulk of Hobbs, N.M., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. today, May 14, at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Husten Gray
Odessa - Husten Gray, 79, of Gun Barrel City, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in Gun Barrel City.
Mr. Gray was born June 6, 1925, in Blair, Okla. veteran of the U.S. Army. Previously of Odessa, he lived in Gun Barrel City for 15 years. Husten retired from Halliburton Energy Services in West Texas after 38 years of service. He was a mason in the Gun Barrel City Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Betty Gray; mother, Georgia Featherston; and father, Arthur Green Gray.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Gray; daughters, Anita Stegall and husband, David, of Levelland, Davina Cowen and husband, James, of Kerrville, and Lisa Holzwarth and husband, Steve, of Lewisville; grandchildren, Sharee, Shanna, Will, Michael, Emily, Audry, Chad, Allen, Shane, Cody and Dallas; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Jenkins of McKinney; stepdaughters, Sandy Shields and husband, James, and Anita Renee Adams and husband, Glen; stepson, David McCullogh and wife, Connie; and nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Services were at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, at the Central Baptist Church of Mabank. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today, May 14, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Veva ‘Toad’ Bolton
Coleman - Veva “Toad” Bolton went home to the Lord and her family and friends on Friday, June 3, 2005.
She was born in Whon to Tom and Effie Freeman Cooper on Feb. 13, 1922. She graduated from Centennial High School as a star basketball player. On June 11, 1943, she married
Venon Bolton at the Coleman Church of Christ, during her lunch hour. They shared 47 years together, until Venon passed away in 1990. In 1947, they moved to Fort Pierre, S.D., where they resided until 1967; at which time, they returned to Texas, first to Sealy and then to Odessa.
Veva had four brothers and three sisters: Alfred Cooper and wife, Rexa Dae, both deceased; Jack Cooper, deceased, and wife, Skeeta, of Temple; Pete Cooper, deceased; Elec Cooper and wife, Rose of Rockwood; Louise Davis, deceased, and husband, Alton, of Snyder; Loma Minnix and husband, Boog, both deceased; and Betty Jo Cooper, deceased; and many nephews and nieces.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Pexa and husband, Revi, of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandsons, Revi Don Pexa of Phoenix, and John Pexa and wife, Tiffany; great-granddaughter, Chloe of Phoenix, and Van Pexa of Albuquerque; stepdaughter, Joyce Hamby and husband, Paul, of Phoenix; stepson, Ray Bolton of Denver; and stepdaughter, Connie Newman and husband, Wally, of Fort Pierre, S.D.
For the past, four-and-a-half years Veva resided at Bear Canyon Retirement Center and Carestone Assisted Living.
Services were held Monday, June 6, 2005, at 10 a.m. at French Mortuary Chapel, Wyoming Blvd., in Albuquerque, N.M. Services will be held at Stephens Funeral Home, (325) 625-2175, in Coleman, please refer to them for times. Burial will follow at Rockwood cemetery.

Howard David Brown
ODESSA - Howard David Brown, 69, a longtime resident of Odessa, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Sept. 13, 1935, in Coalgate, Okla., and moved to Odessa at an early age. Howard served in the army for two years. He was a leader of his platoon, and he worked for Pacer Trucks of Odessa, a family business, and also Hooper Trucking.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Brown and Anna Bell Powell; grandparents, Melton and Mary Ellen Brown; grandmother, Esther Chatman; brother, Bill McInturf; an aunt, Mary Taylor; and uncles, Bo and Jimmy Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce L. Brown of Odessa; son, Bobby Joe Brown; grandson, Tighe Brown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Caywood officiating.

Jesusa Saiz Villa
Odessa - Jesusa Saiz Villa was called upon into the Loving Arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, June 4, 2005, from Midland Memorial Hospital at the age of 64.
She was born Feb. 20, 1941, in Big Spring to Jesus and Felipa Mendoza Saiz. She united in marriage to Sabino H. Villa in Big Spring in Aug. 1956 and six children were born to this unification. She was a devout Christian and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Eusebio Saiz; three sisters; Rosa Olague, Elvira Moreno and Gloria Vasquez.
She is survived by her husband, Sabino H. Villa of Odessa; two sons, Felipe Villa and wife, Kathy, of Arlington, and Sabino H. Villa Jr. and wife, Maribel, of Odessa; four daughters, Elvira Moralez and husband, Larry, of San Antonio, and Martha Sotelo and Robert Rodriguez, Sylvia V. Zorrilla and Rosie V. Deleon and husband, Antonio, all of Odessa; three brothers, Ernesto Saiz of Big Spring, Frank Vidales of Odessa, and Salvador Vidales of Seguin; three sisters, Jauquina Vidales of Nampa, Idaho, Consuelo Cortez of Pamona, Calif., and Juanita Villareal of Odessa; 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a lot of friends.
Pallbearers will be: Ricky Carrillo, Antonio Deleon Jr., Adrian Sotelo, Samuel Villa, Robert Deleon, Daniel Anaya, Fernando Martinez and Philip Villa.
We the family are eternally grateful to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for allowing us these wonderful and beautiful years with my beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and, especially, dear friend. With a heartfelt embrace, we thank you all for the wonderful loving care that has been given to the family with your prayers, food, floral offerings and presence with us at this time.
