Aiden Gage Maninger-Hardy
Odessa - Aiden Gage Maninger-Hardy, the infant son of Kami Jo Maninger-Hardy and Michael Dee Hardy of Odessa, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Dallas.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, May 7, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Lynn Money officiating.
Aiden’s survivors are his parents, Kami Jo Maninger-Hardy and Michael Dee Hardy of Odessa; Grandparents, Kenneth Eugene and Nancy Joe Anne Maninger of Brownwood; and great-grandmother, Fran Hill of Odessa.

Hershel Dwaine Callendar
Odessa - Hershel Dwaine Callendar, 61, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at 8:30 a.m., after a long battle with lung disease.
Hershel was born Sept. 18, 1943, in Lamesa to William and Mary Alice Callendar. On Dec. 19, 1962, he started his life with Glenna Lea Street, after making her his wife in their hometown of Kress. Hershel and Glenna started their family in Midland, where Hershel started his long career in law enforcement working for the Midland Police Department. Later, Hershel and Glenna moved to Odessa, where he worked for the Ector County Sheriff’s Department, Permian Basin Drug Task Force and the Ector County District Attorney’s office, where he retired Oct. 1, 2004, as director of post sentence monitoring division. Hershel was well respected and loved by all who knew him and will be missed by all.
Hershel is survived by his wife of 42 years, Glenna Callendar; his two sons, Shane and Shawn Callendar; brothers, Tommy, Jess and Wayne; and four grandchildren, Damon, Amanda, Rogan and Abigail.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, May 20, at the Eisenhower Church of Christ with Bert Groves and Lynn Money officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

David Edward Parkin
San Angelo - David Edward Parkin, 51, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 26, 1954, in Victoria, Texas, to Harry and Betty Parkin.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, where the family will greet relatives and friends.
David loved his almost seven years of work for Home Hospice of Odessa and considered them as part of his family. Before joining Hospice, David had worked in the oil field for Tucker Drilling, Patterson Drilling and Pool Company for many years. He joined the U.S. Army in 1972, where he served for several years and earned his high school diploma. The loss of David’s life at such an early age has effected many people who loved him dearly. I know as being his sister and growing up together, walking through life as small children, enduring the changes and challenges that life presents us all from time to time, the blessing of God has always been there to help us cope with our fears and our losses. As his sister and anyone that knew him knows, David is with the Lord and is looking over all of us and smiling.
David’s family wishes to thank Diane for three beautiful sons and Cindy for a beautiful daughter. A special thank you to the Staff of Home Hospice of Odessa, Midland Medical Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Midland for taking care of David and preparing him for his final journey. Our sincere appreciation goes out to Dr. Dorman and the intensive care unit staff at Midland Memorial Hospital for sustaining David’s life until his family could be with him. We would also like to thank the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of San Angelo and the Alexander Family for their prayers and gift of the burial ground for David’s final resting place.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Alexander and her beloved husband, Alex Alexander.
Survivors include sons, Michael David Parkin of San Angelo, John Edward Parkin of Austin, Mark Christopher Parkin and wife, Misty, of Austin; daughter, Jennifer Kay Parkin of San Angelo; grandchildren, Jouren Parkin, Samantha Parkin and Anakin Parkin; father, Harry Parkin of Chelsea, Maine; sister, Vickie Schofield and husband, Mike, of San Angelo. Half-brother, Joshua J. Parkin of Gorham, Maine; nieces, Christie and Patricia Schofield of San Angelo and many other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles throughout the U.S. including David’s beloved dogs, Jack and Trouble.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Michael Parkin, Mark Parkin, Mike Cain, Jim Cain, Thomas Kent, Michael Schofieldand and Joe Jasso. Walking David to his final resting place will be his grandson Anakin Parkin.
Memorials may be made to the Midland Memorial Hospice of Midland, the Home Hospice of Odessa, the Hospice of San Angelo and the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of San Angelo.

Anita Gomez Ramos
PECOS - On Tuesday May 17, 2005, our beloved “Anita” was called to go home by the Lord in Pecos, Texas.
She was born in Shafter, Texas. She was a devout Catholic. She was also a homemaker.
He came and took her by the hand; he walked her to the light and said come go with me my child, I’ll take away the pain and every time they cry for you, I’ll comfort them with rain. Every time they think of you, they’ll smile and look above; they’ll thank me first for giving you to them, so many years to love. Raindrops from Heaven will send with your love; they’ll never forget your pretty smile, your warm embrace never replaced. If they shed a tear for you, we’ll make it sprinkle rain and they will always remember no more pain for you my love “Just Rain.”
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Interment will be at Santa Rosa cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
She is survived by her sons, Aron Carrasco Sr. of Odessa and Roy Perez of Pecos; her daughters, Maria Gallardo and Eliza Carrasco, both of Pecos; her 10 grandchildren; her 24 great-grandchildren; and her 18 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and will be missed by all.
Margarita Sosa
Odessa - Margarita Sosa, 63, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at her residence in Odessa.
Mrs. Sosa was a Catholic and was born Sept. 2, 1941, in Stanton to father, Florencio Sosa; mother, Santos Pompa, who both preceded her in death, as well as granddaughter, and Alaina Margaret Luna.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Garza Franco and Ruby Luna, both of Odessa; son, Manuel Vega of Odessa; brother, Manuel Sosa of Odessa; sisters, Mary Pineda and Virginia Chavez, both of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and my nieces and nephews that were like my own children, Angelita Serrano, Linda Garcia, Ernest Albarado and Frank Albarado.

Lynn Jay Albright
Odessa - Lynn Jay Albright, 44, of Odessa, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005. He was a loving husband and father. Jay worked as a construction technician for 25 years for AT&T.
Jay was born September 24, 1960, in Washington, Mo. to Herschel and Pearl Albright of Sullivan, Mo. He was kind, generous and passionate in all he did. His children brought him great joy. He loved to cook for family and friends and work in his yard. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Jay was an active member and representative of the Communications Workers of America local no. 3250.
Jay is survived by his wife, Shelly of Odessa; daughters, Jessica, Stephanie and Jennifer all of Odessa; sons, Jared and Logan, both of Odessa. Parents, Herschel and Pearl Albright of Sullivan, Mo.; brothers, Dale and Joyce Albright of Pollock, La., and Larry and Charlene Albright of Bourbon, Mo.; sisters, Faye Teague, Sue and Joe Lee, both of Sullivan, Mo., and Gay Albright of Columbia, Mo. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sammie McCulloch of Amarillo; brother-in-law, Jerry McCulloch of Howardwick; and sisters-in-law, Janie and Jerry Mechell of Arlington, and Valerie and Ron Johnson of El Paso. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

George Calvin Davis
Odessa - George Calvin Davis, 77, of Odessa, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 9, 2005. He had lived in Odessa for the past four years, after living in Kermit for 44 years. George, the oldest of six children, was born August 20, 1927, in Honey Grove, Texas to Jodie and Josie Davis. He married
Nannette Rebecca Oliver on November 9, 1950, in Seymour, Texas.
He was employed in the oil field industry for 45 years, before retiring. George was a charter member of Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit and served as a deacon for over 40 years. After moving to Odessa, George and Nan joined Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon.
George was a kind, humble and considerate man who was respected and loved by his family and all who came in contact with him. His life centered around his family and the church. His grandchildren especially loved their Papa. He was a caregiver to many sick and elderly people and served in any capacity needed during times of need. George’s family had the utmost love, admiration and respect for him and he leaves them with many fond memories and a legacy that will never be forgotten.
In addition to his wife, Nan, George is survived by four children, Randy Davis and wife, Marsha, of The Woodlands; Debbie Davis Goertz and husband, Mike, of Kingwood, Becky Davis Porter and husband, Joey, of Odessa, and Jeff Davis and wife, Chris, of Midland.
George is also survived by four siblings, Betty Jo Tilson and husband, Hobert, of Moore, Oklahoma; Cotton Davis and wife, Katy, of Odessa, Patricia Treat and husband, Al, of Allen, and Larry Davis and wife, Janelle, of Plano.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Bobby Gene Davis of Tom Bean.
George leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Michael Goertz and wife, Kim, Michelle Goertz Eby and husband, Sam, Melanie Davis Saunders and husband, Matt, Jonathan Goertz, Ryan O’Rear and wife, Becca, Joey Porter Jr., Laura Davis, Holly Davis, Brittney O’Rear, Emily Porter, Clayton O’Rear, and Kaegan Burwell; as well as one great grandchild, Michael Gorertz III.
The family wants to thank Home Hospice of Odessa for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association or Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12th at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Box officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Goertz Jr., Jonathan Goertz, Ryan O’Rear, Clayton O’Rear, Sam Eby and Matt Saunders.

Theodore Mattison ‘Ted’ Lawson
Andrews - Theodore Mattison “Ted” Lawson passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005.
Ted was born Feb. 6, 1940, in Lubbock to Estelle (Terry) Lawson and T. M. Lawson. He started to school in Levelland. He graduated from Midland High School in 1958. He attended South Plains College for one year on a golf scholarship. On June 6, 1959, he married
his high school sweetheart, VonDean Heairren. They attended Sul Ross University. He graduated in 1962 with a degree in business. Upon graduation he worked for DRILPRODCO in Hobbs, N.M.
In 1964 he moved to Andrews, and was employed by Dowell. In 1966. he became partners in Chemical Service Company. He then started Technical Tubing Testers. In 1981 he married
Anne Blanton McBeth. He formed Alamo Tubing Testers and Drillers Rat Hole Service in Odessa. He ran for the office of Texas Railroad Commissioner in 1990. In 1995, he started Lawson Equipment Company in Odessa, which is still in operation today.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.M. and Estelle Lawson.
He is survived by one sister, Virginia Watkins and husband, Wally; nephew, Lynn Muncy; nieces, Michelle Dunlop, Cheryl Staudaucher and a special niece, Linda Avery. He is also survived by numerous cousins; a stepdaughter, Kelly McBeth; two step-grandchildren, Quincy and Addie Smith; and one great-step-grandson, Henry Smith.
Ted was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa. He belonged to numerous civic organizations, including: past president of the Andrews Country Club, past Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Andrews, past president of Andrews High School Booster Club, Past president of Sul Ross Ex-Students Assoc. and a loyal supporter of Sul Ross University. He was honored by the Desk and Derrick Club as “Boss of the Year”. He was a semi annual exhibitor of the Permian Basin Oil Show, and an active businessman in the oil industry. Through out his life he was very generous to people, especially to those in need. He was instrumental in helping many people become business owners.
His wonderful sense of humor, his love of music and singing and gregarious personality made him welcomed and loved by everyone he came in contact with.
Ted leaves behind a multitude of loyal friends and family who will miss him terribly. The world is a little dimmer without Ted.
There will be a visitation 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Odessa. Burial will follow at Andrews cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Lamar Chuter, Harold McCullough, Mike Alcorn, James Barnett, Bill Culver, Danny Barlau, Jimmy Madewell, Lynn Muncy, Brad Avery, Chris Carruth, Mark Staudaucher and Wallace Watkins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Todd, Terry, Jerry and Mike McCabe, Carl Shamburger, Howard Raglin, Herman Guetersloh, Marian Belknap and Butch Lawhorn.

Jack Price
Odessa - Jack Price, 81, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
Family Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Frank Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Dan Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Jack was born July 5, 1923, in Oklahoma City to Calvin and Dorothy Campbell Price. He married
Vinta Rose June 15, 1946, in Sulfer, Okla. He worked at The Odessa American as a printer for a number of years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Dorothy Marie Wren; and daughter, Linda Gutierrez on April 5, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Vinta Price of Odessa; son, Jack W. Thompson of Abilene; daughters, Margaret O’Neill Hardwick of Odessa, and Brenda Thompson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

Sylvia Edwards
Coleman - Sylvia Edwards, 90, of Coleman and former Santa Anna Resident, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Sylvia Jackson on Dec. 19, 1914, in Madisonville, the daughter of Odell Jackson and Dilcey Johnson Jackson. She grew up and attended school in Madisonville and married
Jim Edwards Nov. 10, 1949, in Coleman. He preceded her in death in 1962. She moved to Coleman in 1985, after living in Santa Anna for many years. She was a housekeeper and sat with the elderly, a former member of the Eastern Star, the Santa Anna Co-Op and St. Willow Baptist Church in Santa Anna.
Survivors include four daughters, Eva Mae Holloway of Coleman, Mary Ann Payne of Coleman, Wanda Jackson of Odessa, and Dorothy Douglas of Fort Worth; five sons, Odell Baker Sr., John Tony Baker and Claude Baker Sr., all of Coleman, Tony Baker Jr. of Fort Worth, and R.D. Edwards of Dallas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Cosette Jackson, Maxine Jackson, one son, Jim Albert Edwards, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Family visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at the First Baptist Church in Santa Anna with the Rev. Mackey officiating, assisted by Rev. James Anderson and Elder L.C. Smith. Burial will follow at the Santa Anna cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her sons.
Wilma Savage Webb
Odessa - Wilma Savage Webb, a loving sweet soul, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 10, 2005.
She was born June 22, 1914, Turley, Okla. and moved to Texas in 1921. She met and married
her childhood sweetheart, Elmer E. Savage in 1933. They were married
54 years. when he passed away in 1986. She had lived in Odessa, since 1944.
Wilma worked nearly twenty years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., still giving her time and love to her family. Wilma worked tirelessly for the Senior Citizens of Odessa. She was Senior of the Year in 1990, and also won the KOSA Red Plate Award for Community Volunteer that same year. She was president of AARP for two years. Her greatest joy and pride was in leading the exercise classes and her many friends at Northside Senior Center, where she met and married
her second husband, Melvin F. Webb. They had seven wonderful years together, enjoying love, companionship, cruises, bridge, friends and extended families.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Perez and husband, Jesus, of Odessa, Jean Reeves and husband, Hugh, of Missouri City; and one stepson, Sonny Webb and wife, Judy, of Odessa. She has four loving grandchildren, Gary Peek, Bill Reeves, Todd Reeves and David Palmer. Wilma was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Miranda Peek, Mallory Peek, Sam Reeves, Jacob Reeves, Amelia Reeves and Miles Reeves.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Doctor JB Naidu, the staff at Alliance Hospital and especially to Ruben Serna, the loving nurse on the fifth floor.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Money officiating.
