Otilio C. Quintana
ODESSA - Otilio C. Quintana, 81, a lifelong resident of Odessa, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 10, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Nonoava, Chihuahua, Mexico to Otilio and Filomena Quintana.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served in the Carmelitas, Associasion Guadalupana. He also served the Adoracion Perpetua de la Iglesia Santa Maria.
He married
Maria Demetria Alvarado on Jan. 12, 1947, in Chihuahua.
He is survived by his wife, Demetria of Odessa; four sons, Federico Quintana and wife, Eva, Manuel Quintana and wife, Laura, Otilio Quintana and wife, Maria, and Gilberto Quintana and wife, Rosario; two daughters, Ofelia Ramos and husband Sergio, and Maria Trinidad Martinez and husband, Florencio; 22 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Family visitations will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Martinez Funeral Home.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating. Internment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Martinez, Jesus Manuel Quintana, Pedro Quintana, Sergio Ramos, Jorge Martinez and Daniel Quintana.

Robert Furman
Dallas - Furman, Robert “Bob” Lyle was laid to rest Feb. 25, 2005, at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Born in Minneapolis September 21, 1958, he moved to El Paso as a teenager. He was a 1977 graduate of Coronado High School in El Paso, a graduate of the UT at Austin and earned his JD from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN.
A member of Temple Shalom, and the Collin County and Dallas County Bar Associations, Bob was a dedicated team member of the State Farm auto claims for the past 10 years. A gifted and talented songwriter, while he left us much too soon, he will continue to inspire countless lives through www.bobfurman.com.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 17 years, Susan Elsner Furman, a 1975 graduate of Permian High School; their children, Amanda, 11, and Jason, 7; parents, Nort and Loree Furman of El Paso; brother, Tony Furman and wife, Robin, of El Paso; sister, Lisa Bronchetti and husband, Ty, of Plano; parents-in-law, Roy and Essie Elsner of Odessa; brother-in-law, Phil Elsner and fiancee, Pam Hiller, of Dallas; and seven nieces and nephews.

Tim Holt
Odessa - Tim Holt, 63, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Hospice House.
Tim was born July 5, 1941, in Winters. He married
Shirley Patton Oct. 3, 1958, in Andrews. Tim was the owner of Odessa Small Engine; a member of Propbusters Club; and McFarland Masonic Lodge No. 1338. Tim was a loving husband, father and grandfather that loved to listen to his girls play cards. He also had a passion for taking things apart and figuring out how they worked. He loved building his model airplanes.
Tim is preceded in death by his mother, Lola Bell Holt; and his father, D.R. Holt.
Tim is survived by his wife, Shirley Holt of Odessa; daughters, Cyndi Smith and special friend, Don Haeffner, and Carrie Albritton and husband, Gary, all of Odessa, Dian Fourcher and husband, Ken, of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Trina Cannefax and husband, Craig, of Borger. Tim is also survived by 10 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; his sisters, Betty Sturgeon of Louisiana, Jennie Isebell of Washington, and Vivian Bean of Alabama; and his brother, Melvin Holt of Odessa.
A visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Marie Bennett Munson
Midland - Marie Bennett Munson, of Midland, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005.
Marie was born April 1, 1918, to Fred A. Christian and Myrtle Rutherford in Claremore, Okla. She moved to Odessa in 1923, graduated from Odessa High School in 1936 and attended SMU. She married
William Franklin Bennett II in 1938 and was widowed in 1962. She married
Craig D. Munson Jr. in 1973 and was widowed again in 2004.
Marie was a pioneer for women in business in the 1950s. She started the private employment industry in West Texas by opening Bennett Employment Service in Odessa in 1953 and Midland in 1954. She introduced the temporary help industry to West Texas in 1958 by opening Kelly Services. Over the years, Marie placed thousands of employees with hundreds of area businesses. She was a past president of the National Employment Association and listed in Who’s Who of American Women. She was a member of the Chambers of Commerce in Odessa and Midland and served on the boards of the Better Business Bureau and the Salvation Army.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons, William F. Bennett III of San Mateo, Calif., Mark A. Bennett of Odessa, and Robert C. Bennett of Lewisville; and six grandchildren.
Services for Marie will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas (432) 683-5555.

Bruce Wayne Wolsch
Odessa - Bruce Wayne Wolsch had a change of address and moved to be with his heavenly Father. He no longer resides in Odessa. Bruce went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2005.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Fairmont Park Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Fairmont Park Church of Christ with Roy Raney and Scott Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
Bruce was 54 years old and was born Aug. 13, 1950 in Stamford. He served in the U.S. Army and he loved his country. He worked at Sentry Services in Odessa for 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Devon Haught of Crane; his father, R.Q. Wolsch of Odessa; and his sister, Janet Pinkston of Crane.
Bruce married
Debra Jean Cagle May 11, 2000. He had a daughter, Jennifer O’Neal of Wichita Falls; three stepsons, Terry Lynn Takeda and wife, Triva, of Odessa, Kelly Christopher Takeda and wife, Lin, of Midland, and Joseph Takeda of Beaumont; one brother, Robert Wolsch and wife, Lucy, of Midland. Bruce had 10 grandchildren and they were his most favorite things in life. He was so loved by us and will be missed. He has one son, Jimmy Wolsch; and two daughters, Tina Wolsch and Theresa Simpkins.
Gladys Mae Cowart Wood
Fairfield - Gladys Mae Cowart Wood, 93, of Fairfield, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005, in Fairfield.
Gladys was born in Mineloa March 24, 1911. She was one of four children born to J.B. and Ann Cowart. Gladys left home at 18 to work for Western Union. During her tenure at Western Union, she led an exciting life, traveling throughout East Texas and Louisiana. It was on one of her business trips that she met her future husband, Wirt Wood. They married
in Lufkin in 1936. In 1938, they moved to Fairfield and opened Wood Drug on the square. After a successful business career, they sold their drug store to Warren Awalt in 1963. After Gladys’s husband died in 1988, she chose to remain in Fairfield to enjoy the people and the town that had nurtured them through good and bad times.
Gladys’ family history is deeply rooted in Texas. She is the great-great-granddaughter of Martin Varner, on the original 300 who followed Stephen F. Austin to East Texas. In a time when men dominated business, politics and community, Gladys earned the respect of men and women in Fairfield as a strong, independent and free thinker. She joined the Eastern Star in 1942 and served as worthy matron from 1946 through 1947 and again from 1964 through 1965. She remained active in Eastern Star, while her health permitted and recently received her 60th year pin.
Gladys had no children but was blessed with many loving nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother, J.C. Cowart of Mineola; nephews, Robert Wood of Woodville, and Pete Donohoe of Mineola; nieces, Betty Dale of Odessa; and her late husband’s sister-in-laws, Mrs. Marvin Wood, Mrs. Ernie Wood and Mary Francis Lentz.
Services were Monday, March 7, at Capps Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Eston Turner officiating. Burial was at Fairfield cemetery. Arrangements are by Capps Memorial Funeral Home of Fairfield.
Memorial should be sent to Freestone County Senior Services, Eastern Star or First United Methodist Church.

Baltazar Valencia Sr.
Odessa - Baltazar Valencia Sr., 73, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.
He is survived by his wife; Manuela Valencia of Odessa; sons; Edward Valencia, Baltazar Valencia Jr., Jesse Valencia, Pedro Valencia, Albert Valencia, Moses Valencia, Joshua Pando and Baltazar Valencia III, all of Odessa; daughters; Margarita A. Guzman, Mary Helen A. Velasquez and Nancy Pando, all of Odessa; brother; Edmundo Martinez of Durango, Mexico; and sisters, Guadalupe Sotelo and Socorro Mata, both of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Aurora Martinez and Magdalena Mata, both of Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He has 30 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Antonio Ramirez, Manuel Ramirez and Francisco Martinez all of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Gaspar Mata Valencia of Arizona; sisters, Jesusita Ramirez, Alejandra Ramirez and Ventura Lopez all of Ojinaga, Chihuahua. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
A prayer service has been scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Odessa Funeral Home with the Rev. Reynaldo Marquez officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Recia Capps
Colorado City - Recia Capps, 57, of Loraine, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Colorado City cemetery with the Doctor Sammy Elliot officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Capps was born August 28, 1947, in Odessa to J.L. and Recia Arnold Shults. She married
Jack Capps Aug. 1, 2003, in Loriane. She enjoyed woodcraft, ceramics and she loved life.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Capps of Loraine; her mother, Recia Shults of Loraine; one stepdaughter, Olivia Omega Capps of Odessa; four stepsons, Michael P. Capps of Houston, Jack C. Capps of Abilene, and James D. Capps and Joshua Lee Capps, both of Odessa; two brothers, James Earl Shults of Ruston, La., and Larry Eugene Shults of Aurora, Colo.; three aunts, Emily Kiser of Bangs, and Gertrude Johnston and Myrtle Collins, both of Odessa; two uncles, James Lloyd Shults of Hobbs, N.M., and David Arnold of Colorado City; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews
She was preceded in death by her father, and brother John Shults.
Deidra Brynne Henry
Odessa - Deidra Brynne Henry, born Dec. 20, 1989, left us April 16, 2005, to be with our Lord in Heaven.
Deidra was a very popular young lady with a beautiful voice, she is now singing in God’s choir. She was a member of the National Jr. Honor Society and president of the Ector Jr. High All Girls Choir. Deidra brought a lot of sunshine to her loved ones lives. She will now shine upon us from the heavens up above.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, James and Dora Hills, Ted and Beulah Johnson, Stella and Luther Henry, and Guy and Olian Whigham.
She is survived by her father, David B. Henry; her mom, Francis M. Henry; her mother, Marsha L. Hills; her sisters and brothers, Megan, Robert, Taryn, Isiah, Bryan and Michelle. Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Frances Henry, Mr. and Mrs. C.V. “Rip” Ryan, Ms. Shirley Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. James and Roberta Pointer, Mr. and Mrs. Mike and Jeannie Hills; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as friends.
Family visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors.

Joel Trimble Edwards
Abilene - Joel Trimble Edwards, 55, of Abilene, died Saturday April 16, 2005, at his home.
Joel was born April 14, 1950, in Odessa to Bill and Betty Edwards. Joel was a handful till the day he died. Joel attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, where he met his wife, Sophie. He moved to Abilene in 1998 working with AT&T, before working in various Abilene car dealerships. He was a member of Kiwanis, Odessa and Abilene Jaycees, and a former Sunday school teacher at St. John’s in Odessa. Joel was a devoted husband and a dedicated father. His lasting memory will bring a smile to everyone who knew him. He made it a point to brighten everyone’s life around him. Joel will always be remembered for this selfless generosity, his great sense of humor and his overzealous storytelling. His love for his wife and family brought him the most joy in his life. Joel will be greatly missed.
Joel is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sophie of Abilene; his son, Joel of Abilene; his son, Ben of Austin; his daughter, Rachel of Abilene; his son, David of Abilene; his mother, Betty Edwards of Odessa; his sister, Patty Kinnard and her husband, Clay, of Odessa; and his brother, Kirk Edwards and his wife, Lori, of Odessa.
The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. today at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander, in Abilene. After the service, family and friends are invited to the Parish Hall for sharing and fellowship.
The Edwards family respectfully requests that memorial contributions may be made in Joel’s name to the University of Texas Southwestern medical School, neurology department, or the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene.
Robert ‘Rob’ Dean Landrum
Odessa - Robert “Rob” Dean Landrum, 42, of Odessa, passed away April 18, 2005, in Dallas.
Rob was born on September 13, 1962, in Odessa to his parents Robert “Bobby” Wayne Landrum and Patricia “Pat” Ann Griffith. He married
Sue Childress on September 10, 1984, in Odessa. Rob graduated from Odessa High School and was in ROTC. Rob never had an enemy, he didn’t know a stranger, he was always ready to lend a hand and he was a huge race fan. Rob was employed at Star Drilling for four years.
Rob is survived by his wife, Sue Landrum; son, Nick and wife, Samantha; and son, Bobby; and one daughter, Tasha; parents, Bobby and Pat Landrum; brothers, Randal, Kyle and Mark; sister, Michelle and husband, Tim; grandmother, Jewell Landrum; grandchildren, Nicholas, Brynna, Eryn and Kali. He loved his grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece, Brooke; and nephews, James, Brandan, Mark Jr., Tanner and Braydan. Rob also has many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
There is a visitation scheduled for Thursday, April 21, 2005, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. for Friday, April 22, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Craig DeArmond officiating.
Pallbearers are: Lonnie Neatherland, Kent Crabtree, Rory Roach, Jacob Pettigrew, George Smiley, Kerry Robertson, Kent Crabtree and James Wright.
