Wayne Hill

Odessa - Wayne Hill, 64, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2005, in a local nursing home.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, April 22, at the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Wayne was born on October 17, 1940, in Stigler, Oklahoma, to Albert and Bertha (Garner) Hill.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, playing golf and playing in pool tournaments. His grandchildren were the delight of his life. They will always remember their “Putz.” He was a skilled mechanic who worked on and off for over 30 years at Broncho Chevrolet. He was also self-employed as a mechanic for many years.
Survivors include three daughters, Shellie Recker and husband, Pat, of Odessa, Callie Mendenhall and husband, Boyd, of Houston, and Jenna Hill of California; and two sons, John Hill and Deon Hill, both of California. He is also survived by six grandchildren including Casey and Cody Sullivan of Houston, and Sheldon and Carlton Driggars of Odessa.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Deon Hill; a daughter, Kathy Hill; two brothers; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas St., Odessa TX 79761.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland.

Marie Laden Holloway

Mount Pleasant - Marie Laden Holloway, 77, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005, in Odessa.
Marie was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Titus County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Dale Holloway; son, Larry Don Holloway; parents, Joe and Verna Laden; and brother, Kenneth Laden.
Survivors are one son, Gary Holloway and wife, Kathy, of Odessa; two sisters, Elna O’Neal and husband, Dr. George O’Neal, and Nelda Dunn, both of Mount Pleasant; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Laden of Irving; six grandchildren, Joe Pat Holloway of Iraq, Gary James Holloway and wife, Brandi, of New Braunfels, Lori Lynn Nunn and husband, Kyle, of Burleson, and Bryan Scott Holloway and wife, Misty, Jennifer Michelle Holloway, and Brandon Nicholas Holloway, all of Odessa; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bates-Cooper Chapel with Weldon Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Nevills Chapel cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Grady Duncan, Jerry Laden, Sammy Laden, Larry Freeman, Roy Fox, Darrell Cooper and Van Lee.

Jose Sigala

ODESSA - Jose Sigala, 82 years of age, passed away on April 21, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Jalisco, Mexico.
He is survived by his wife, Rafaela Sigala of Odessa; sons, Juan Sigala of Barron, Wis., Ramon Sigala of Odessa, Francisco Sigala of Mexico and Edward Sigala of Odessa; daughters, Reynalda Dominguez of Odessa, Placida Davis of Barron, Wis., Catalina S. Olguin of Odessa, Patricia Vanegas, Ana Sigala and Maria Azuena Garcia, all three of Las Vegas, Nev., and Guadalupe Sigala of Odessa; brothers, Fernando Sigala of Mexico, Refugio Lopez of El Paso and Catalina Sigala of D.F. Mexico; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brian Mulato, Juan Jose Sigala, Erick Sigala, Cruz Dominguez, Carlos de la Cruz and Fernando Sigala.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, April 24, 2005, at the family home located at 8643 W 23rd St. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home.

William ‘Bill’ ‘Dusty’ Wilkins

Odessa - William “Bill” “Dusty” Wilkins, 46, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Hospice House.
Bill was born on March 14, 1959, in Odessa to his parents Ray and Billie Wilkins.
Bill graduated from Odessa High School in 1977 then attended Odessa College and became a cosmetologist. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Billie J. Wilkins in October 2002.
Bill is survived by his father, Ray Wilkins of Odessa; sister, Bonnie Blount and husband Eldon of Odessa; and brother, Tommy and wife Janeen of Midland. Bill is also survived by three nephews; two nieces; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; and many friends.
We will be celebrating the life of Bill Wilkins with a memorial service at 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Bill requested donations be sent to Gifts of Hope West Texas Cancer Center, 600 N. Grant Ave., Odessa, TX 79761, or Alison Cancer Center, 301 N. Midkiff Road, Midland TX 79701.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mildred Inez Brown

ODESSA - Mildred Inez Brown, 85, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Anna, Texas. She married J. D. Brown on Oct. 9, 1937, in Oklahoma. She was a retired licensed vocational nurse and had worked at Medical Center Hospital for over 20 years. She also had been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1948, where she had taught Sunday School and was a WMU member.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Geraldine Brown.
She is survived by her daughters, Claudine Hunt of Corpus Christi, Ernestine Alexander, Ida Johnson and Virginia Ruth Johnson, all of Odessa, and Janice Cannady of Talahina, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Jim Weaver, Rosalinda Weaver, Rusty Johnson, Christy Henderson, Shawna Ashburn, Karri Thompson, Vaughn Johnson, Lisa Holmes, Chad Johnson, Alisha Cannady and Albert Cannady; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
There will be a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Byron McWilliams officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
Pallbearers will be Brian Ashburn, Rusty Johnson, Vaughn Johnson, Chad Johnson, Albert Cannady and Gary Trout. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Weaver and Terry Thompson.
The family wishes to thank Drs. R.J. Patel and Steven Wiehle, and the staff at Odyssey Healthcare Hospice.

Eulis Britton ‘Tarp’ Compton

Big Spring - “Tarp” went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2005.
He was born Oct. 29, 1928, to Eulis Britton Compton Sr. and Amazie Beatrice Tolbot Compton in Loraine.
In 1956, he married Betty Sue Pearson in Big Spring. The couple had three children: Connie Sue, Victor Britton and Steven Dale. Betty passed away in 1991.
“Tarp” was a Christian and a member of Ranchland Heights Baptist Church in Midland. He worked in the Texas and New Mexico oilfields nearly his entire working career. He was a driller for M.G.F. Oil Co. of Midland, a tool pusher for Cherokee Drilling Co. of Midland and was also a self-employed water well driller before retiring in 1992 in Stanton.
“Tarp” married Johnnye Sue Barnes from Odessa and moved there in 2004.
He was very active in the Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star and the Shriners. “Tarp” believed very strongly in the work that the Shriners do, helping to heal disabled children. He was a true family man, adoring his children and grandchildren, and they adored him. We will all miss him very much.
“Tarp” is survived by his wife, Sue; a daughter, Connie Sue Speight and husband Mike of Midland; two sons, Victor Compton and wife Dee Dee of Moore, Okla., and Steve Compton and wife Tammy of Odessa; grandchildren, Chanda, Kelcey and wife Stephanie, John, Chris and wife Jennifer, Brittney, Chelsea and Kenzie; great-granddaughters, Madison Lee, Macie Marie and Alexyss Faythe; and sister, Eunice Padgett of Alpine.
The family received friends from 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at Ellis Funeral Home.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, at Trinity Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospitals of Texas or the Odyssey Hospice & Health Care of Odessa and would be greatly appreciated.

Johnny Roy Hamlin

Waco - Johnny Roy Hamlin, 69, passed away and joined his Lord on Memorial Day, May 30th, 2005 after his brave battle with cancer.
Johnny was born in the small town of Sylvester, Texas, on April 21, 1936. The Hamlin family later relocated in Odessa, Texas, where Johnny graduated from Odessa High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Two years of service in the Army and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Houston provided Johnny with the skills necessary for his successful career of over 34 years as a computer programmer with Shell Oil Co.
Johnny was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Houston, where he served as an active deacon and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He also enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his children, grandchildren and his sweetheart Sandy Sayers.
He is preceded in death by his father; and mother, Roy and Katie Mason Hamlin; and brother, Jimmie Hamlin. He is survived by his brother, Carl Hamlin; and sisters, Laura Helen Hamlin Keith and Ruth Hamlin Smith. Johnny is eternally the loving and devoted father of his 3 surviving daughters, Susan Hamlin Sadler and husband, Chris Sadler, of Waco, Nancy Hamlin Hankins and husband, Brian Hankins, Alice Hamlin and husband, Eduardo Segura; and his four surviving grandchildren Jeffrey, Jessica, Nicholas and Christopher.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in the chapel of Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood cemetery in Waco, Texas.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate, loving and competent care given to him by the Houston Hospice Medical Staff.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Cancer Association, 3000 Herring, Waco, TX 76708.

Bernice Eula Herron Littleton

Dallas - Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Eula Herron Littleton, 86, of Glenn Heights, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Lancaster, Texas, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at Heartline Ministries Worship Center, 2414 S. Buckner, in Dallas. Mrs. Burnices passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Winsor Place Nursing Home in Lancaster, Texas. Burial will follow at Woodland cemetery in Corsicana, Texas. Funeral arrangements by Ross and Johnson Mortuary, 1100 E. Fifth Ave., Corsicana.
Mrs. Bernice Eula Herron Littleton, was born Sept. 18, 1918 in Chatfield, Texas, to the parentage of Rev. and Mrs. Henderson Herron. She received her formal education in the Corsicana School System. She met and married Alford Lee Littleton and to this union three children were born. She later met and married C. B. Cooksey and to this union a son and daughter were born. She was preceded in death by a son, Perry and a daughter, Brenda.
She united with the St. James Baptist Church of Odessa, Texas, where she served as an usher and loyal member until her health failed in 2003.
Survivors include her children, Alford Littleton of Glenn Heights, Texas, Mentha Cooksey Andrews of Mesquite, Texas, and Geraldine Williams, Lancaster, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Thelma Herron of Waco, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Robert ‘Bob’ Archie Pincham III

Odessa - Robert “Bob” Archie Pincham III, 76, of Gardendale, Texas, passed away Monday, May 30, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with interment to immediately follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Bob was born June 24, 1928, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Robert Pincham II and Marie Curtis Pincham. He graduated from Crooked Oak High School. Bob married Pat Clepper in August of 1946 in Henrietta, Texas. He worked his entire professional life for Otis Engineering Corp. and Bob traveled the world working in many exotic lands for OEC.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Janis Wright; and son, Ron Pincham both of Odessa, a sister, Betty Jean English of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren; Ryan Pincham and wife, Bridget, and Tiffany Rodgers and husband, Clint, and Brandon Wright; and two great-grandchildren, all of Odessa. Bob would like to
say a fond farewell to all his many friends at Music City Mall.
There will be an all day visitation Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Jerry Wright

Ruidoso, N.M. - Visitation for Jerry Wright, 67, of Ruidoso, N.M., from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. will be Thursday, June 2, 2005, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, at First Christian Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Kermit cemetery in Kermit.
Mr. Wright passed away Monday, May 30, 2005, in El Paso. He was born Dec. 18, 1937, in Ranger, Texas. He moved to Ruidoso on Dec. 16, 1978, from Las Cruces. Jerry was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ruidoso, N.M., the Scottish Rite and York Rite and had spent his life in radio and television broadcasting and in recent years had worked at LaGrone Funeral Chapel and was also a member of the First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Byron Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna of Ruidoso, N.M.; a son, Philip G. Wright Jr. and Kandy of Alamogordo; a daughter, Missy Schlotfeldt and Dave of Richland, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Buie, Taylor Wright, Rachel Wright, Holly Wright, Cameron Quigley, Anthony Schlotfeldt, Andy Schlotfeldt, Madi Schlotfeldt, Jamison Wright, Elizabeth Jones and Bryce Jones; two great-grandchildren, Naomi Escalante and Asa Escalante; and an aunt, Inez Jones of Waco.
The family has requested memorials to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460.

Guadalupe Sotelo Benavides

Odessa - Guadalupe Sotelo Benavides, 79 years of age, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
She was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Colorado City, Texas, to parents Pedro and Adela Sotelo. She was a Housekeeper.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be at 7 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Jospeh’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruby Patino; son, Freddie Benavides; brother, Mateo Sotelo; and sisters, Josephina Benavides, Augustina Marmolejo and Linda Sotelo.
Survivors include her husband, Jose Benavides; sons, Sammy Benavides of Albuquerque, N.M., Arturo Benavides of Odessa; sisters, Pilar Hull of Midland, and Maria Diaz of Amarillo; grandsons, Ricky Patino, Tommy Patino and Paul Chris Patino, all of Odessa; Sammy Jr. Benavides, Danny Benavides and Micheal Benavides, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home.
