Anita Dobbs
Odessa - Anita Dobbs, 81, of Odessa, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2005.
Anita was born May 23, 1924, in Estelline, Texas, and returned to Odessa in 1991 from Ballinger, Texas. Anita graduated from Pecos High School in 1943. She and Cecil Emmitt Dobbs married
in her parents’ home in Abilene the same year on May 15th. The couple enjoyed 53 years of marriage before Cecil passed away in 1997.
Anita was proud of her heritage in that her father was a Native American of the Tuscarora Indian Tribe from Ontario, Canada. Anita also had tremendous character. A hard worker, Anita was employed by the City of Odessa for nine years in the 1980s. Also, Anita was an outstanding homemaker who loved her family with all her heart. A Christian woman, Anita was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Dwyane and Gayle Dobbs and David and Dianna Dobbs, both of Odessa; grandchildren, Spencer and Cary Dobbs of Odessa, Scott and Kristy Winchell of Odessa, Matthew and Carly Myers of Lubbock, and Samuel Dobbs of Odessa; as well as great-grandchildren, Conner and Sierra Dobbs, Katelynn and Dylan Winchell and Blayden and Sterling Myers.
Anita is preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Robert and Myrtle Cusick; and her brother, Robert “Bob” Cusick.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the Frank Wilson Funeral Chapel in Odessa, Texas with the Rev. Robert Bratcher and Lynn Money officiating.

Byford Gayle Sealy
Andrews - Byford Gayle Sealy, the only child of Carl and Lurline Sealy, was born on February 19, 1926, in Waxahachie, Texas. He died on July 21, 2005, in Andrews.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the Andrews Church of Christ with the Minister Mark Wilson and Moody Conner officiating. Burial will follow at the Andrews Old cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann of the home; one son, Scott Sealy and his wife, Gloria, of Andrews; two daughters, Gayle Schultz and her husband, John, of Houston, Texas, and their children Shauna Schultz of Dallas, Texas, and Jason Schultz of San Diego, California, Keri Wientjes and her husband, Ross, of Mound City, South Dakota, and their children, Payton, Pearson, Reece and Channing.
He was pre-deceased by his parents; and a son, Michael Neil Sealy, who died in an automobile accident the day after he finished his junior year at Texas Christian University.
Byford and his parents moved to Andrews in 1929 and Byford graduated from Andrews High School in 1942. He was baptized at the age of 13 in a dirt tank about 10 miles north of Andrews. He attended John Tarleton Agricultural College for one year and then enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 17 in 1943 at the Marine Recruit Depot in San Diego. Basic training was at Camp Pendleton in California. He served as a machine-gunner on Saipan and Okinawa, and as an military policeman in the occupation of Japan in Nagasaki, after the atom bomb was dropped. He returned home in 1947 and attended what is now the University of North Texas earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music in 1951. He then became the band director in Hawkins for one year before re-entering the Marine Corps as an officer in 1952. While in Hawkins, he was also the tuba player in the East Texas Symphony. He was a naval gun spotter in Korea for about 6 to 7 months. He returned to the U.S. and was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia.
Upon leaving the Marine Corps as a captain in 1955, he entered the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent in Washington D.C. and Chicago, Illinois.
Byford and his family returned to Andrews in 1957 for him to go into the abstract business with his father. After returning to Andrews, he served on the city council as mayor; he served as a board member of the Andrews Independent School District. He was a member of the Andrews Industrial Foundation and was on the board of directors of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce.
Byford met his wife Jo Ann, while they were both playing in the Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra, where he played tuba and she played French horn. Jo Ann attended West Texas State University on a music scholarship given by the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, in which she played French horn. Byford and Jo Ann were married
on September 27, 1969. Byford has reflected that Jo Ann is comparable to the wife described in Proverbs 31:10-31 and has said that she has all of the good characteristics of that wife.
Byford has lost his long battle with cancer–having had treatment for the past 18 years.

Louis Ferrell Woodward
Fort Stockton - Louis Ferrell Woodward, 82, of Girvin, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the Fort Stockton Church of Christ with Harold Durham officiating. Burial will immediately follow at East Hill cemetery.
Louis was born October 15, 1922, in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Fonnie and Emma Gay Woodward. He was married
to Eddie Mae Hogg, Jan. 13, 1950.
Louis was a member of the Church of Christ, husband, father, friend and rancher, as well as a World War II veteran. He joined he Army in 1942 and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge in 1945.
Louis returned home to ranch with his family in Terrell County. He moved to Crane County to begin ranching on his own in the 1950s. He moved his family to Girvin in 1962 where he made his home. Louis proudly expanded his ranching operations with his four sons in Pecos County and Culberson County.
Louis is survived by his bride of 55 years, Eddie Mae Woodward; his four sons, Ernest Woodward of Bakersfield, Lowell and Carol Woodward of Alpine, Boyd (Skip) and Debbie Woodward of Bakersfield, and Loyd (Snap) Woodward of Girvin; his nephew, Neil and Janie Woodward of Fort Stockton, and niece, Loraine and Don Lannom of Fort Stockton. He had seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Louis will be missed in many organizations that he believed in. He was a director of the Federal Land Bank; an honorary lifetime member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association; former president of the Pecos County Farm Bureau; member of the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association; and many other agricultural organizations.
Pallbearers are: his four sons, Ernest, Lowell, Snap and Skip Woodward; his grandsons, Cade, Colton and Justin Woodward; and his nephew, Neil Woodward.
Louis was preceded in death by his mother, father and his brother, Burch Woodward.
The family asks that donations be made to favorite charities in lieu of flowers.
Reba Nell Hannah
MONAHANS - Reba Nell Hannah, 74, of Monahans, passed away Friday, July 22, 2005, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 11, 1931, she was the youngest of 10 children born to Robert Wallace Hall and Lillie Mae Hall.
She married
Melvin Hugh Hannah on July 31, 1948, and enjoyed 49 years of marriage together. They had two children.
While living in Monahans, she worked at Mary Kay’s Gifts and Brenham’s Men’s Shop. She retired from her retail positions to pursue her “hobby, ” which was spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Monahans. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and loved attending their monthly meetings.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always a constant source of happiness for her. She was affectionately known as “Meme” by all who knew her, and most especially by those who loved her. She enjoyed her time with her family, and she cherished the many lifelong friends she made along her journey here on earth.
Survivors include daughter Dolores Fine and husband Larry; son, Charles Hannah; grandchildren, Christi McCoy and husband Clint, and their children Stetson, Brannan, Mackenzie, Jaxon and McKenna, and Cammie Bounds and husband Travis, and daughter-to-be Hannah; sisters, Raydoe Goree and Rella Spurck of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was never happier than when her family was around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Hannah; brothers, Robert and Rufus Hall; sisters, Ruby Pevey, Rose Mickan, Retha Blagrave, Ruthie Lee Bracht and Ruth Inez Parker.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Monahans with Brother Craig Rhoton officiating. Interment will follow at Monahans Memorial cemetery.
The family would like to express special thanks to Yvonne Contreras who took care of our Meme like she was her own; the staff of Ward Memorial Home Health, most especially Kathy Boucher, Kathy Dutcher and Cindy Armistead, who were always there for us whenever we needed a helping hand or just a simple hug; and Dr. D. William Davison, who never tired of giving us direction and treated Meme and her family with the utmost compassion and care.

Georgia ‘Jo’ Pearl Motley
ODESSA - Georgia “Jo” Pearl Motley, 76, of Odessa passed away Friday, July 22, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church with the Rev David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 3p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Georgia was born May 13, 1929, in Gilmer, Texas, to George Kirk and Sarah Harell.
She married
Robert Motley on October 14, 1948, in Midland. She was the owner of Georgia’s Day Care Center from 1979 to 1994 and a member of Central Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Robert Motley of Odessa; two sons, Jack Motley and wife Donna of Odessa and Roger Motley and partner Joseph Papendick of Palm Springs Calif.; grandson, Mark Motley; and great-granddaughter Erin Motley.

Johnnie LaMerl Algood
Odessa - Johnnie LaMerl Algood, age 80, passed away Monday, August 1, 2005, at her residence in Odessa.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Interment will follow at the Kermit cemetery.
Johnnie was born August 8, 1924, in Logansport, La., to Martin and Callie Ferguson. She married
Chester Algood on January 21, 1948, in Kermit.
Johnnie worked as a beautician but her favorite task was taking care of her family. Her family was the most important thing in her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and granddaughter, Ariel Algood.
She is survived by her son, Randy Algood and wife, Quinten, of Wasilla, Alaska; daughter, Montie Bryan of Odessa; sister Betty Tudor of Port LaVaca, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa Gale Bryan of Odessa, and Robert Allen Algood of Wasilla, Alaska; and great-grandson, Mason Sparks.

Pedro Oyerbides Jaquez
MONAHANS - Rosary for Pedro Oyerbides Jaquez, 76, of Monahans will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at St. John Catholic Church.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Father John Lucido officiating. Interment will follow at Monahans Memorial cemetery under the direction of Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
Mr. Jaquez died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in Monahans. He was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Colorado City. He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Cruzita Jaquez of Monahans; sons, Pete Jaquez, Jr. and wife Cris and Ray Jaquez and wife Rosemary, all of Odessa, and Robert Jaquez of Monahans; daughters, Elfie Calzada and husband Tony, Elisa Hinojos and husband Alfonso, Esperanza Muniz and husband Angel, all of Monahans; brother, Lupe Molina of Texas; sisters, Refugio Contreras and husband Eliseo of Monahans, and Juanita Palafox and husband Cornelio of Fresno, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Josephine Opal Moseley
Odessa - Graveside services for Josephine Opal Moseley, 6209 Austin Ave., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born May 18, 1928, in Clay County, Prospect, Texas, to Joseph Issac and Lessie Butler. She married
Leyland Ivan Moseley Sept. 19, 1946, who preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1984.
Opal died Saturday morning at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She had been a resident of Odessa for the past 60 years, where she resided as a housewife and loving mother. Opal had been a member of the Pythian Sisters of Odessa. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa.
Opal is survived by her three sons, Clifford Wayne Moseley, Kenneth Ivan Moseley and David Errol Moseley, all of Odessa; her sister, Shirley Ann Hastings; and brother, Larry Douglass Butler, who resided in Missouri; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of Odessa.

Mack C. Morris Jr.
Midland - Mack Chastine Morris Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior, whom he loved and served until he died on Aug. 1, 2005, surrounded by his family and friends.
Mack was born on July 17, 1926, in Lamesa, Texas, to Mack C. and Carrie Essie Musick Morris. His family was among the first Lea County, New Mexico, pioneers who homesteaded north of Hobbs, New Mexico. His family moved from Knowles, New Mexico, in 1934 to Tatum, New Mexico. He graduated from Tatum High School on May 14, 1943. During World War II, he was inducted and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. At the age of 26, Mack married
Josephine Helms on Nov. 23, 1952, in the bride’s hometown of Lander, Wyoming.
His career in oil and gas exploration spanned more than 40 years. He retired from Amoco Production Co. as a Geophysical Field Foreman for West Texas and Eastern New Mexico in 1988 following 22 years of loyal service. Mack had many domestic assignments including the 1970s exploration of the Rocky Mountain Overthrust Belt. His international assignments included Kuwait, Venezuela, Guatemala and Mexico.
Mack transferred to Midland in 1978 with Amoco Production Co. Mack retired in 1988 and resided in Midland until his death.
Mack came to know the Lord at an early age. He served in many capacities to further Christ’s work. Mack was an active member of Alamo Heights Baptist Church for 26 years. Mack Morris was the most “living” example of a man who, through the most part was homebound and endured continual pain and suffering. He never complained and lived every day of his life in a way that was an example to everyone the kind of Christian man he was, and remained so, until the day he died. When most would have given up, he seemed more determined to share with his church family, his concern and love for others and their welfare. But he was modest and careful that no one should know when he so generously helped financially. II TIM, 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
Mack’s lifelong love was traveling and seeing many of God’s wonders with family and friends. Mack and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States and Canada. He loved the outdoors and had actively supported the Boy Scouts of America.
Mack was preceded in death by his father; mother; and sister. He is survived by his sister, Marie Pruett of Lovington, New Mexico. Mack is survived by his wife of 52 years Josephine Morris; and his children, Tom, Mack, Paul, Dian and their families. Mack is also survived by nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. today, August 3, 2005, at Ellis Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005, at Alamo Heights Baptist Church with the Pastors Gary Redwine and Bob Porterfield officiating. Interment will follow in Lovington, New Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas (432) 683-5555.
Pallbearers will be: Mack C. Morris III, Paul Morris, Mack C. Morris IV, Paul Morris Jr., Alex Morris, Lonnie White and Tom Carstenson.

Joan Hammack
Andrews - Funeral services for Joan Hammack, 54, of Andrews, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at First Assembly of God in Andrews with the Rev. Mark Bristow, of Grace Fellowship Church in Monahans, officiating with assistance from the Rev. Perry Sheffield of Seagraves.
Joan went home to be with her Lord and Savior July 31, 2005, after a lengthy but hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was born April 15, 1951, in DeKalb, Texas, to Chester Compton and Maedean Hogeland. She married
the Rev. Glenn Hammack on Nov. 2, 1968. They pastored churches at Dayspring Assembly of God in Odessa and House of Mercy Ministries in Andrews. She worked at Key Energy as an office clerk.
She is survived by her loving husband and friend, Glenn Hammack; daughter, Amy Hammack of Odessa; son, Eric C. Hammack and daughter-in-law, Jessica Hammack of Andrews; grandsons, Jair and Jachin Hammack of Odessa, and Jase Hammack of Andrews; mother, Maedean Campbell of Andrews; sister, Barbara Harris of Andrews; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Chester Compton; and brothers, Ronald and David Compton.
She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. She was a loving Christian woman that proved to be an example to many. To our wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece and friend, we love you and will sing with you in heaven some day soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to MD Anderson in Houston and the West Texas Cancer Center in Odessa.
