Wesley Martin Shrum
Odessa - Wesley Martin Shrum 26, of Midland, Texas passed away on December 23rd, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.
Wesley was born December 27th, 1978, to Pamela Dawn Shrum, in Seminole, Texas. He was reared and educated in Shelburn, Indiana. He worked as a driller for Adobe Drilling.
Wesley is preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Shrum Fisher; an Uncle Wesley Shrum; grandparents, Ida and George Fisher.
Mr. Shrum is survived by his wife, Danielle Thompson Shrum of Midland; a son, Devon Shrum, of Midland, Texas and a baby on the way; three sisters, Buffy Wingo of Odessa, and Amanda Fisher of Terra Haute, Indiana, and Renee Fisher of Midland; father, Robert Fisher of Midland; grandparents, Wesley and Sandra Shrum of Midland; five Uncles, five Aunts, three nephews and one niece, and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27th, 2005.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28th, 2005 in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor Emmitt Beasley officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Anthony Dean Simon
Clovis, N.M. - Anthony Dean “Tony” Simon, age 43, of Midland, Texas, died Saturday, December 24, 2005, at University Medical Center Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on January 6, 1962, to Wilfred John and Frances Prince Simon, in Clovis, NM.
He worked as an Allstate Staff Adjuster, was Baptized at El Porvenir Church Camp of the New Mexico Christian Churches, and moved to the Midland/Odessa, Texas area in 1983. Mr. Simon also did autobody work. He loved playing golf, water and snow skiing, and earned a blackbelt in Tae Kwan Do.
He is survived by four daughters, Brittni Simon of Fort Worth, Andrea Michelle Simon of Fort Worth, Lauren Simon of Midland and Megan Simon of Midland; his mother, Frances Simon of Clovis, NM; a brother, John Simon of Texico, NM; a sister, Valerie Simon of San Antonio, Texas; his grandmother, Minnie Prince of Clovis, NM; a nephew, Tyler James Simon; a half-sister, Ciera Simon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and numerous aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Simon; his grandfather, William Prince; and a brother, John Francis Simon.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church with Jon Forrest officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, New Mexico. Pallbearers are Buddy Prince, Jimmy Prince, Dudley Hardin, Mike Tice, Ray Prince, and Kevin Ward.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis, NM (505) 762-4435.

Norma Lee Wallum
Odessa - Norma Lee Wallum, 81, of Odessa, passed away Monday, December 26, 2005 at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born June 25, 1924 in Girard, Texas to her parents, Tycus & Katie Teel Boyd.
She married Clarence Wallum on June 20, 1950 in Odessa. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1972.
She worked for ECISD Cafeteria, Fashion Cleaners, Ector County Library, and for Texas Instruments. She was a member of Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ. She was a longtime resident of Odessa.
Mrs. Wallum was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Baldwin, her parents, her son, Johnny Lane Wallum, her brothers, Jewel Boyd and Raymond Boyd, and her sisters, Beulah Watson, Bertha Wallum and Leveta Scott.
She is survived by her son, Ron Wallum & wife, Dyann of Alvord, TX; her daughters, Joy Daugherty of Sanford, FL, and Judy Wallum of Odessa; her brothers, Theo Boyd and wife, Opal, of Rising Star, TX, Ottus Boyd & wife, Dorothy of Lake Thomas, TX, and Robert Scott of Gorman, TX; her grandchildren, Sharon Gaines of Odessa, Chris Gaines of Sanford, Fl, Norman Gaines & wife Laura of Deltona, Fl., Mic Gaines of Odessa, Todd Summers & wife Naomi of Alvord, TX and Philip Wallum of Alvord, TX; her great-grandchildren, Lexi Gaines, of Odessa, Christina Gaines, of Sanford, FL, Alex Wallum, Asa Summers, Rowdy Summers & Dylan Summers all of Alvora, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Pearl Collins.
Special thanks to Terrace West Nursing Home. Memorials may be made to Midland Christian School.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 30, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, Odessa. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Lynn Money officiating.
Family visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2005 from 7-8:30 PM, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home (601 N. Alleghaney, Odessa).
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

John Marvin Callaway
ODESSA - John Marvin Callaway, 94, passed away on Monday, December 12th, 2005, in Odessa, TX, supported and loved by family that he loved unconditionally.
Marvin was born on March 21, 1911, in Wylie, TX, to Pearl and Fred Callaway. After graduating from Saint Jo High School in 1929, he attended North Texas State University in Denton, and had a celebrated career with Southwest Wheel Manufacturing Co. in Dallas for 43 years.
Marvin and his wife, O’lene, were married July 29, 1934, in Wichita Falls, TX. Their 67 year marriage was built on love, faith, grace, compassion, and a home full of laughter.
Marvin and O’lene moved to Wichita Falls in 1948, and were faithful committed members of Floral Heights United Methodist Church and the Couples Class for 53 years. They transferred their membership to First United Methodist Church of Odessa, after moving to be near family.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, O’lene, his parents, and his brother, Byron.
He is survived by: his two sons, Byron Wayne Callaway and his wife, Peggy, of Loveland, CO, and Gary Marvin Callaway and his wife, Cynthia, of Odessa, TX; four grandchildren, Shannon Callaway Haile and her husband, Phil, of New Haven, CT, Greg Callaway and his wife, Jennifer, of Franklin, TN, Shawn Callaway and his wife, Anita, of Arlington, TX, and Brent Callaway of Dallas, TX; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Haile, Cameron Callaway, Ian Haile, Bryce Callaway and Skyler Callaway.
Services will be held at the Crestview Memorial Cemetary Chapel in Wichita Falls, TX, on Saturday, December 17, at 2 p.m.

Margaret Waggner Jones
ODESSA - Margaret Waggner Jones, age 87, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born December 16, 1917, in Los Angeles, California. She married George Edward Jones on June 20, 1943 in Ft. Worth. She was a substitute teacher in Ruston, Louisiana, where her late husband was a English professor at Louisiana Tech. She was active in the A.A.U.W. (American Association of University Women) and the United States Census Bureau. She was also active in the Volunteer Head Start Program. She was active in her community and church in Ruston, LA. They moved to Odessa in August 1969 where she later became active in the first United Methodist Church.
In 1986 Margaret & her husband were some of the first residents of Parks Retirement Village, which was founded in 1986. Through their remaining years until her death they made many friends and acquaintances at Parks and were active in various activities and committees.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Pops” Garnett Waggner & Margaret Idora Dundass, her husband, and a son, Kent Dundass Jones.
Survivors include her sons, Carl Phillip Jones of Odessa, and David Edward Jones of Denver, CO, grandchildren, Chessa Nicole Jones and Cody Carlton Jones of Odessa.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2005, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Tamplen of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

John A. Lippe
Marble Falls - John A. Lippe, 88, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2005 at Seton Highland Lakes Hospital, Burnet. He was born, June 29,1917 in Mills County, the 3rd child of F. H. and Annie Bufe Lippe. He married Dora Mae Steinmann on July 15th 1943 at the U.S.O. in Marysville California by Captain Robert J. Angel.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dora Mae, sons, Johnny Ray and wife Sherry of Odessa Tx., Larry Glenn and wife Sharon of Fort Davis Tx. and Kenneth Royce and wife Michelle of Schertz, Tx. Sisters, Lydia Schlueter of Saulk Rapids, MN., Velma Bretting of San Angelo, Tx., Martha Hosum of Appleton, Mn., Lena Teinert of Midland, Tx., Katie Richards of Odessa, Tx., Ruth Cleckler and husband John of Odessa, Tx., Brothers, Benjamin and wife Lillie of Odessa, Tx., and Martin and wife Elsie of Independence, Mo. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister JoAnn Gholson, brother Fritz A. Lippe and one great grandchild, Breanna Marie Lippe.
A veteran of World War II, he joined the Army in 1941, and served as a medic and received an honorable discharge January 24, 1945. Shortly after his discharge, he moved to San Angelo where he worked at Goodfellow AFB and Concho Field. He moved to Odessa, Tx in 1947 and worked for a short time at H. B. Zachary and in November of that year he began with Standard Oil and Gas as a pumper and continued through name changes Pan American and then Amoco Production,now BP, He retired, August 31,1981, after 34 years service.
After retirement, he moved to the Marble Falls area and joined Saint Peters Lutheran Church in spring of 1983.
He was a gentle, loving,caring person who was always concerned about other people. He was always there for those in need. While a member of Christ Lutheran in Odessa, Texas, he took a very active role in the church serving on the council, visitation, a delegate to the church’s conventions, and a member of the Brotherhood. He enjoyed and spent many hours tending the lawn and maintaining the church property. He also served in the community as a cub master for a number of years.
The last few years when his health was waning he found peace in his beloved church .The Marble Falls Senior Activity Center was also a source of blessing for him. When he no longer could play eighty-eight he loved to be with his friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14 at Clements-Wilcox from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 15 at 2:00 PM at St. Peters Lutheran Church with David Henry officiating. Burial will be Friday, December 16 at 3:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas. Memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church or Seton Highland Lakes Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Marble Falls.

Merle Thompson
HAWORTH, OKLA. - Merle Thompson, 87, of the Harris community, joined her Savior on December 10, 2005 in Atlanta, Georgia while visiting her daughter.
She was born in Redland, July 12, 1918, to Walter and Ada Crain. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She celebrated her life by serving God, and she never lost site of the good in everyone. She was the heart and soul of her home and family. She taught them love, courage, strength, and faith. Her love comforted all those whose lives she touched. Her inspiration and teachings will live on through her family and loved ones.
Merle retired from Pioneer Natural Gas in Odessa, Texas, in 1982 after 25 years of service. She and her husband returned to the Harris community for retirement in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Eldon Thompson.
She is survived by her children: June Stephenson, Martha Heller, and Susie Morehead, grandchildren: Melody Manley, Gary Manley, Greg Heller, Eldon Heller, David Heller, Dolly Horob, Quentin Heller, Kelly Heller, Mandi Hardy, and Glenn Morehead, her sister-in-law, Melba Leatherbee, 14 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at 11:00 in the morning at the First Assembly of God Church in Haworth, OK with Aubrey Thompson and Keith Stanford officiating. Interment will follow at Redland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Heller, Eldon Heller, Gary Manley, Glenn Morehead, Mike Hardy, Joe Wright, and Charlie Ray Hudgins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harrel Thompson, Ken Crain, and Harold Crain.

Leo L. Lowery
Crane - Leo L. Lowery, 86 years old, a resident of Crane Texas since 1965, passed away at the Crane Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, December 11, 2005.
Leo was born on August 10, 1919 in Hackberry, Louisiana to Ernest Lawrence Lowery and Agnes Bertha Elender Lowery. He was the oldest of eleven children. Leo graduated from high school in 1936 at Hyatt, Louisiana. In 1937 he married Joycie Mae Jacobs in Fields, LA. He worked as a carpenter in DeRidder, LA and worked up to be the foreman in the construction of the DeRidder Airport. After the airport was completed, the family moved to West Lake where Leo worked in a magnesium plant making airplane parts. At this time Leo received a letter from Uncle Sam to report for the duty at Shreveport, LA in twenty-one days. There were many delays; the twenty-one days became eight months. Leo moved his family to Fields, LA while he did his basic training and completed his service in France, Germany and Czechoslovakia. After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Leo was employed by Neal Gasoline Plant in Merryville, LA. After eight years he transferred to Lovington, NM and started a new plant for Atlantic Richfield. In 1965, after eleven years in Lovington, he transferred to Crane, TX, Block 31. He retired in 1987 from ARCO.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Joycie Mae Lowery of Crane, and by seven children: three daughters, Nancy Agnes LeBeau and husband Jimmy of Spring, TX, Joyce Elaine Wofford and husband Durward of Las Cruces, NM, and Donna Lynn Bryant and husband Philip of Mansfield, TX; four sons, Leo V. Lowery and wife Alice of Kilgore, TX, Floyd Lowery of San Augustine Park on Lake Sam Rayburn, Arden Lowery and wife Susan of Crane, TX, and Evan Dale Lowery and wife Betty of Crane, TX; Leo is survived by 16 grandchildren: Lesli, Larry, Duane, Durward Dale, Gene, Leah, Robin, Kami, Rebekah, Sarah, Ross, Angela, Richard, Kevin, Cord and Jacob. He is survived by 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Lauris Earl Lowery and C.J. Lowery of Sulphur, LA and Lawrence Lowery of Lake Charles, LA; one sister, Mary Geraldine Lowery Cirello of Newport Beach, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Leo was a member of First Baptist Church, Crane, TX, Masonic Lodge and Lion’s Club. Until his health failed, he enjoyed attending sporting events at Texas Tech, Texas A &M and Crane Public Schools. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by two brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Larry LeBeau, Duane LeBeau, Durward Dale Wofford, Gene Lowery, Richard Bryant, Kevin Bryant, Ross Lowery, Cord Lowery and Jacob Lowery. Honorary pallbearers will be; Arnold Durham, Don Booth, Lewis Overton, Steve Pharaoh, Charles Mapes, Delbert Matlock, Charles Stroder and Jesse Wilson.
The Family will be receiving friends from 5pm until 7pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Crane with Pastor Tommy Parker and Pastor D. Burchfiel officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
