Jose Primera, Sr.
MIDLAND - Jose Primera, Sr., of Midland, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2005.
He was born July 21, 1930 to Santos Primera and Eduvigen Martinez Primera in Fort Stockton, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jose is survived by his wife, Olivia Holguin Primera of Midland, TX; his children, Claribelle and Richard Ramirez of Odessa, TX; Linda and Hollis Riggins of Dallas, TX; Patsy and Gary Salgado of Midland, TX; Olga Primera and Karl Kovacich of Midland, TX; Dilly and Rudy Mendoza of Lockhart, TX; Jose, Jr., and Debbie Primera of Austin, TX; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren; four brothers, Pascual Primera, Epimenio Primera, Frank Primera and Gabriel Primera, and two sisters, Maria Saldana and Margaret Garcia. He is also survived by the many friends he had and loved.
A rosary will be held at Ellis Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral mass has been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with Father James Bridges officiating.

Minnie Belle Blanton
Albany - Minnie Belle Blanton, age 86, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at her home in Albany. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, December 19th, at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Trey Little officiating. Burial will follow in the Albany cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
She was born on July 15, 1919 in Anderson County, Texas to Clara Bell and Thomas Royle. She married
William Blanton on December 25, 1945, at Reynolds Bend on Lambshead Ranch. They lived in Odessa until 1968 when they moved to Elbert County to ranch. In 1997 they returned to Albany, where her husband, Bill, preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Blanton was a homemaker and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church in Albany.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kathy Blanton of Elbert Co., Colorado; two daughters and sons-in-law: Liz and Billy Green of Albany, Texas and Mary and Tom Crist of Alpharetta, Georgia; three sisters: Gladys Pierce, Mildred Cooper and Edith Miller, all of Montalba, Texas; three grandsons: Bill Crist of Alpharetta, Georgia, Henry Green of Albany, Texas and Tommy Blanton of Elbert County, Colorado; granddaughters: Anne and husband, Byron Hicks of Austin, Texas, Kim and husband, Dan Parker of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Laura Green of Tampa, Florida, Lindsay Blanton of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Sarah Blanton of Elbert County, Colorado; and 4 great grandchildren.

L.D. Edward Cook
Kingsland - L.D. Edward Cook of Kingsland, Texas died here Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the age of 85.
He was born on December 3, 1920 in Hillsboro, Texas to Roxie Ann (Mitchell) and Joseph Henry Cook.
L.D. and Helen Lucille Urbanovsky were wed in Alexandria, Louisiana on August 8, 1942, and celebrated 60 years together prior to her death in 2002.
L.D. was a veteran of World War II and served his country in the U.S. Army in an ordinance battalion. While stationed overseas he took part in campaigns in France and Germany. After military service, he worked for American Optical, eventually retiring as a branch manager for that company. In 1979, he and Helen moved from Odessa to Kingsland. They were members of Highland Lakes Church of Christ.
L.D.’s hobbies were cooking and playing dominoes, and he dearly loved animals. He greatly enjoyed long drives through the scenic Hill Country, and visiting at the Senior Citizens Center in Kingsland.
Survivors include daughter Jerry Lynn Woolard of San Antonio; son Dale Allan Cook and wife Valerie of Odessa; brothers J.B. Cook of Houston, Pat Cook of Splendora, Odell Cook of Grandbury, and Leslie Cook of West; sister-in-law Juanita Cook of Tokio, granddaughters Penny Pickett of McKinney and Jogee Comegys and husband Wick of San Antonio; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, brothers Joe, Jack, Marvin, and Doyle Cook, and sister Thelma Odessa Cook.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel in Kingsland, officiated by Bro. Joe Winnett. Burial followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County.
Pallbearers were Odell Cook, Leslie Cook, Dale Cook, Edmond Tillman, Jim Barton, and C.J. Smiles. Serving as honorary pallbearers were J.B. Cook, Pat Cook, and Glenn Vanderburg.

Richard Dean Conklin
ODESSA - Richard Dean Conklin, 38, of Odessa passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1967 in Winchester, Indiana to Merl & Jacqueline Conklin. He worked for R & S Power Tongs. He loved water, boats, skiing, driving fast, motorcycles and rock & roll music.
He is survived by his sons, Skyler Don Conklin, Devin James Conklin, Donivin Joseph Conklin, daughter, Kelcei LaShay Conklin, parents, Merl & Jackie Conklin, all of Odessa, brother, David Allen Conklin of Monks Corner, S.C. and nephew, Heath Nathaniel Conklin.
A visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating.

Rubye Jean Cooper
PEARLAND - Rubye Jean Cooper died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at her home in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 78 years. Rubye was born May 15, 1927 in Santa Anna, Texas to Howard Raymond and Rilla Jean (Alexander) McAuley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Nathan Cooper and is survived by a loving family; two sons, Kevin Cooper and his wife, C. R., of Pearland, Texas and Glynn Cooper and his wife, Marsha, of Fischer, Texas; daughter, Teresa Ghinelli and her husband, Rick, of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Ina Witherspoon, of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Ivon Walton, of Hobbs, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Erica Davis, Vanessa Sickler, Tony Ghinelli, Lauren Ghinelli, Taylor Cooper and Madison Cooper; three great grandchildren, Christian, Cameren and Cortlyn; her companion for the past five years, Col. Art Porcella, of San Antonio, Texas; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. A celebration of Rubye’s life will follow at 1:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sonny Foraker, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pearland, officiating. A private committal will be held at Houston National cemetery.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Jack C. Holt
ODESSA - Jack C. Holt, 75, of Odessa passed away Friday December 16, 2005 at the Hospice House in Odessa.
Jack was born August 19, 1930 in Bogata, Texas where he attended school. Jack retired from the ECISD after 30 years of service in the Maintenance Department. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 430 and VFW Post 4372.
Jack is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Tom, of Odessa, and grandson Sam, of Midland. His daughter Becky Leonard and her husband Jerry, of Odessa, and his grandson Clayton Leonard. His brother Robert Holt and his wife Nina Jo of Bogata, TX, and his sister Dorris Martin and her husband Wayne of Bellevue, WA., and Bill and Juanita Arnold, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paris, TX. He has many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church at 10:00 AM December 19, 2005. The family would like to give special recognition to Onita Erwin and Peggy Mackey. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice House and Home Hospice in Odessa.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Thelma Evelyn Holt Donham Jennings
ODESSA - Thelma Evelyn Holt Donham Jennings, affectionately known as T. J., 79, died Thursday, December 15, 2005, at the Casa de Oro Nursing Home, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Services have been set for 2:00 p.m. at the Frank Wilson Funeral Home, Odessa, Texas. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery in Odessa.
Thelma was born to Walter Roland and Lora Birdie Dyer Holt on March 9, 1926, in Caddo, TX. The family moved to Odessa in 1930 where she graduated from Odessa High School in 1944.
In 1945, she married
Lt. Jack Albert Gates, a USAF bomber navigator who was KIA over Germany in December 1945.
In 1947, she married
Charles Tillman Henderson, USAF, in Odessa, TX.
She married
Horace Dee (Spec) Donham September 05, 1948, in Ballinger, Texas, but resided in Odessa. They owned and operated Donham Oil Tool Co., DOTCO. After Mr. Donham’s death in 1956, she continued as the company’s President.
She married
James Ray Jennings March 2, 1957 at the First Baptist Church, Odessa.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Ector County Sheriff’s Posse and the Eastern Star.
She and her family loved to travel and often spent time at Lake Brownwood, TX, and Ruidoso, NM, taking friends with them.
She and Mr. Jennings sold Dotco in 1969 and bought a ranch in the Hondo Valley, east of Ruidoso. They also had ranches at Capitan, Villanueva and Tularosa, NM. They owned the Whispering Pines Restaurant in the Upper Canyon of Ruidoso. She sold the restaurant after Mr. Jennings death in 1981.
She was also predeceased by her parents and sister, Dorothy Rowena Holt.
She is survived by two daughters, Dee Ann Wooldridge of North Richland Hills, TX, and Lynda Monsimer of Ruidoso, NM, one son and daughter-in-law, William David and Linda Donham of Odessa; four grandchildren: Sam and Walter Donham of Odessa; James Donham (J.D,) Monsimer of Las Cruces, NM, and (granddaughter) D J Wooldridge of North Richland Hills, TX, one great grandson, Aspen Wooldridge; and two maternal aunts, Evelyn Mays Smith of Haltom City, TX, and Gracie Fields of California.
Gilbert Kinne
Odessa - Gilbert Kinne, 79, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Friday, December 9, 2005 at the Hospice House. He was born November 29, 1926 in Bloomington, IL. to Harold & Dorothy Kinne. He moved to Odessa in 1958 from Brownsville. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a supervisor for Shell Oil Co. for 23 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and Asbury United Methodist Church.
His wife Cornelia Florene Kinne preceded him in death on August 27, 2005.
He is survived by his son, Gilbert Earl Kinne, Jr. of Odessa, daughter, Carolyn Kinne of Odessa, brother, Robert A. Kinne of Peoria, IL., grandson, Alex Kinne of Odessa and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Bauernfeind officiating.
Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Hospice House of Odessa.

Oscar H. Ross
ODESSA - Oscar H. Ross, 67, of Odessa passed away Friday, December 16, 2005 at Regency Hospital in Odessa. He was born February 8, 1938 in Chickasha, OK. to C. W. & Dorothy Ross. He was owner of OHR Enterprises. He was a member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang and the Odessa Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Olive DeLay Ross on January 17, 2004, and a son Stephen Ross.
He is survived by his son, Kelly Higginbotham of Odessa, daughters, Bonnie Easter & Shanis Simons both of Wichita Falls, Tory Margeson & husband Dan of Odessa, Kerry Stennett & Kim Randolph both of Austin, brother, C. W. Ross, Jr. & wife Catherine of Wickett, sisters, Letta Mae Freeze of Houston & Jettus Craighead of AZ., (10) grandchildren & (6) great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
