ODESSA - J.A. 'Heavy' McKandles, 78, a retired Odessa Fire Department captain, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Hamilton County and was a resident of Odessa. He was a Johovahs Witness. Randall Wayne Berry
ODESSA - Graveside services for Randall Wayne Berry, 50, of Odessa are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Hilton Chancellor officiating.
Mr. Berry died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at his residence. He was born Feb. 28, 1947, in Olney, Ill.
After graduating high school, Randall joined the Army and served two tours, one in Vietnam. After returning home he worked in the oil field and later became a truck driver. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his mother, Wilma Berry of Odessa; two brothers, Thomas Berry and Timothy Berry, both of Odessa; three sisters, Sandra Moore of Odessa, and Kathleen Lunsford and Theresa Genzling, both of Carlsbad, N.M.
Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lee H. Webb, Jr.
ODESSA - Services for Lee H. Webb Jr., 74, of Odessa are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with the Rev. Jim Hawk officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitors will be received at the home of Butch and Susan Webb at 4034 E. Everglade.
Mr. Webb died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at home with his family by his side. He was born May 4, 1922, in Wilson, Okla.
Mr. Webb moved to Odessa in 1927 with his mother and dad, four brothers and two sisters, from Wilson, Okla. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1939. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II, having served on the U.S.S. Guardfish Submarine. At the end of his service time he married
Vera Joye Durham on March 11, 1944, in Midland. They enjoyed 53 years together.
Mr. Webb was owner of Webb Stove Fixtures from 1946 to 1971, having installed many fixtures for cafes, clothing stores, jewelry stores, grocery stores and banks, in the Permian Basin. In 1971 Mr. Webb co-founded Webb Mfg. Inc. and Webb Camper Center and operated those until 1990.
He was active in community services as a Boy Scouts leader, past president of the Kiwanis Club, Odessa High School Booster Club, the Prairie Dance Club and past State Treasurer of the Texas R.V. Association and was current Treasurer of the Odessa Men's Bible Class and Lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church. He was very active in organizing the reunions for the '30s and early '40s O.H.S Reunions.
He was an honorable and decent man, and will be greatly missed by his family and many life long friends.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Joye Webb of Odessa; a son, Butch Webb and wife, Susan, of Odessa; a daughter, Jeri Lee Sumruld and husband, Darrel, of San Angelo; a brother, Melvin F. Webb of Odessa; two sisters, Oleta Oakes of Cedar Creek and Naomi Troop of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Drennan Lee Webb of San Angelo, Wesley Wayne Webb of Houston, Amy Jean Cranford of Odessa, Ward Lee Webb and Wendy Chere Webb of Odessa; and one great- granddaughter, McKenzie Nichole Cranford.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Lewallen, David Lewallen, Frank Green, Lionel Hinojos, L.J. Marr, Jack Dillard. Honorary pallbearers, Frank Farmer and Jess Ellis.
Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Carl Cobb
ODESSA - Services for Carl Cobb, 75, of Gardendale are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Norman Owens officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cobb died Monday, March 3, 1997, at Deerings Nursing Home. He was born June 7, 1921, in Norman, Okla. He married
Bonnie Boland on June 1, 1943, in Odessa. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Cobb moved to Odessa in 1942. He was a retired oil field salesman. He was a member of the Odessa Faith Tabernacle Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Cobb of Gardendale; three sons, Eddie Don Cobb and Teddy Joe Cobb, both of Odessa, and Michael Cobb of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Doyce Thompson of Bandera and Carlene Brown of Gardendale; two brothers, Jake Cobb of Ventura, Calif., and Fred Cobb of Sacramento, Calif.; sister, Rachel Melton of Anaheim, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren.
