Floyd R. (Gray) Morris
Odessa - Floyd R. (Gray) Morris passed away Monday, September 12, 2005 at his home.
He was born May 18, 1912 in Walters, Ok. He married
Tommie Jo Callaway, November 15, 1930. They moved to Texas in 1943. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. and retired from Newport Plumbing.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, serving loyally in all offices. He was especially partial to the benevolent projects directed to the Elk’s Crippled Children’s Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M.M. Morris and Rebecca Elizabeth Renfro, sisters, Velma Rathburn and Carrie Jackson, grandson, Montie Morris.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 75 years, son, Floyd Ray Morris & wife Linda of Vernal, UT., daughters, Margie Murray & husband Don, Virgie Martin & husband Larry, Kay Lovell & husband Troy all of Odessa, Patsy Hubbard & husband David of the Woodlands, brothers, Coy of Anderson, CA. Neal of Cottonwood, AZ, Goldie of Idaho Falls, ID. (16) grandchildren, (25) great-grandchildren, (11) great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews & friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Grace officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Lucille Slocomb
Odessa - Lucille Slocomb, 95, of Odessa, a retired school teacher died Sunday, September 11, 2005.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2005 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Terry Tamplen of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
She was born in Miles, Texas on May 3, 1910 to Charles Edgar and Mineola Willingham Lyle. She married
Edward Milton (Si) Slocomb on August 15, 1943 in Alice, Texas.
Lucille began teaching shortly after graduating from high school. She would attend college during the summer and teach the rest of the year. She attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Texas State University) in San Marcos and graduated from Texas A&I Kingsville) in Kingsville. She would teach for 19 years in Alice and around South Texas prior to moving with Si to Odessa in 1955. She would continue teaching 1st grade at Milam and Goliad Elementary for another 20 years before retiring in 1975. Even in her 90’s she could remember the names of her students. She was mentioned often by them as their favorite teacher.
After moving to Odessa, she began painting china. She had her own kiln for finishing her pieces and her family & friends were the beneficiaries of her beautiful work.
She remained active in the Retired Teachers Association and was a long term volunteer at Medical Center Hospital. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son Bill & wife Dottie of Leesville, S.C. granddaughter, Kristen of Dallas, brother, Hollice Lyle & wife Vivian of Alice and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Si, her mother Mineola and father Charles Edgar, brothers, Oscar, Alvin, Charles Edgar Jr., and sister Opal Bailey.

Andrew Terry Tackett
Odessa - Andrew Terry Tackett, 78, a retired Odessa High School teacher, died Monday Sept. 12, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House, 309 N. Sam Houston Ave., Odessa TX 79761.

Hattie P. Wilson
Odessa - Hattie P. Wilson, 90, a retired beautician, was born Sept.23, 1914, in Chicota, Texas, to Pearl and Luther Cots Vanderburg. She passed away Monday, September 12, in Odessa.
Hattie married
Archie Wilson in Pampa, Tx., in 1935. They were divorced in 1951. From that union two son were born. Hattie moved to Odessa in 1938, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Hattie was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended services until her health declined.
Hattie was preceded by her parents, five brothers, Cleo, Coy, Jack, Dub and Harry Vanderburg, one grandson, Steve Wilson, and Steve’s mother, Jackie Sue Wilson Bigelow.
She is survived by sons Lonny Wilson and wife, Jackie, of Odessa and Jerry Wilson of Lubbock; sisters: Charlene Cooper of Odessa, and Retha Coleman of Gun Barrel, Tx, sister-in-law: Martha, Edna, Robbie Jo, Laverne, and Elana Vanderburg; grandchildren: Kellye Johnson, Max Wilson, Russell Wilson and wife, Linda, of Odessa; great grandchildren: Stevie and Cole Johnson, of Odessa, Richard, Kristyn, and Katilyn Wilson of Abilene, Sean Bradley of Odessa and Shannon Bradley of Houston, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services are Friday, September 16 th, at 10 a.m., at Frank Wilson Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Odessa, or Home Hospice.

Roger Holt Sofge
ODESSA - Roger Holt Sofge, 71, of Odessa passed away Friday, September 9, 2005, at his residence. He was born April 9, 1934, in Christoval, TX, to Cramer and Mary Sofge. He graduated in 1952 from Eldorado High School, and attended Texas A&M. He received his Associate Degree from Odessa College.
He married
Esther Jones on June 15, 1953, in Eldorado, TX. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and, at one time, he was a volunteer for the Odessa Police Department.
He is survived by his wife Esther Sofge of Odessa, sons, Kenneth James Sofge of Pasadena, CA. Steven Wayne Sofge of Odessa, brother, George Sofge of Schertz, TX. sisters, Shirley Jackson of Cibolo, TX. Janice Tadlock of Hot Springs, AR. and Linda Lacefield of Canyon Lake, TX.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ivy Shelton officiating.

Maria ‘Mary’ Franco Vega
MONAHANS - Maria “Mary” Franco Vega, age 61, of Grandfalls, passed away Friday, September 9, 2005 at her home. She was born January 11, 1944 in Buena Suerte, Texas, to Francisco and Tomasa (Hinojos) Franco. She married
Jesus Vega in December, 1963, in Alpine, Texas.
A funeral mass in Alpine, and a memorial service in Grandfalls will be held later in the week. Burial will be in the Holy Angel cemetery in Alpine. Services are under the direction of Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
Survivors are her husband, Jesus Vega of Grandfalls, and sons, Jesse Vega of Grandfalls, Danny Vega of San Antonio, and David “Gis” Vega of Ft. Worth. Also a daughter, Angie Portillo of Alpine. She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Franco, Jesus Franco and Frank Franco all of Alpine, and sisters, Maye Salgado of Odessa and Margie Urquidez of Globe, Arizona.
Aralyne Elizabeth Wright Earnest
Odessa - Aralyne Elizabeth Wright Earnest, 90, died at her home in Odessa on Tuesday, December 20, 2005. Born March 18, 1915 in Adamsville, Tennessee, she grew up in Tullahoma, Shelbyville and Nashville. In 1937 she graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis. Her working career as an RN lasted from 1937 to 1943. During those years she worked at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, at Wood Hospital in Odessa (for Drs. Wood and Barganier), and in private medical practices in Big Spring and Odessa (for Drs. Headlee and Hestand). She married
Joe Porter Earnest in 1938 and together they established residence in Odessa, where Mr. Earnest worked in the automobile repair business, which he later expanded into Porter Earnest Motor Co., the Buick dealership in Odessa during the 1960s. Their life together spanned 49 years until Mr. Earnest’s death in 1987. At various times in her life Mrs. Earnest was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa, the Hospital Auxiliary at Medical Center Hospital, and the Ector County Sheriff’s Posse Auxiliary. She enriched the lives of her family and friends who remember her for her lively sense of humor, her forthright honesty, her profound compassion and gracious friendliness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and by her daughter, Ara Lynn Earnest Bauman, who died in 1997.
Mrs. Earnest is survived by two sons, John David Earnest of New York City and Daniel Porter Earnest of Venice, Florida, a sister, Jean Wright Carroll, and a brother, Fuston Wright, both of Tennessee, a brother, Jesse A. Wright, Jr. of Illinois, five grandchildren, Lisa Earnest Heredia, Steven F.P. Earnest, John David Bauman, James Christian Bauman, Elizabeth Marie Bauman, and one great-grandchild, Diego Luis Heredia.
Graveside services will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church.

Jose Luis Lujan
Odessa - Jose Luis Lujan, age 57, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with burial following in Sunset cemetery. Rosary services will be at 7:00P.M. Wednesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, in their chapel.
Mr. Lujan is survived by: Two Sons; Jose L. Lujan of Phoenix AZ, and Albert M. Lujan of Odessa, TX; Two Brothers; Arnulfo Lujan of Alpine TX, and Valentine Lujan also of Alpine, TX; Four Sisters; Corina Lujan of Odessa, TX, Selma Leyva of Denver, CO, Laura Romero of Ft. Stockton, TX, and Mary Ann De Lao of Alpine, TX; Five grandchildren, and One great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nama Jacquez Lujan, his parents, Louis Lujan, and Lilly Ybarra Luyan, and one brother, Edward Lujan.
Mr. Lujan was a member of the Mission Adults. He will be loved, missed, and cherished by all of his family and friends.

Walter Ray Hancock
Odessa - Walter Ray Hancock, 46 of Odessa passed Tuesday, November 2, 2005 at Regency Hospital. He was born February 14, 1959 in Odessa to Walter Young and Ida Lane Hancock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Lavonda Denise Hancock and Patricia McGee.
He is survived by six sisters, Patricia Hancock Jones of Odessa, TX, Cathy Williams of Arlington, TX, Shirley Crowder of Odessa, TX, Kay Laverne Marshall of Wichita, KS, Vickie Pryor of Ft. Worth, TX and Angela Young of Austin, TX. Four brothers, Delbert Hancock, Gary Miller, and Eric Coleman all of Odessa, TX and Walter Allen of Austin, TX. Uncle Luther Wilson of Odessa, TX, and a host of other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends.
A tribute in Memory of Walter Ray Hancock will be held Sunday, November 6, 2005, 7:00p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Services will be held Monday, November 7, 2005, 1:00p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, the reverend R.S. Sutton, pastor. The reverend R.T. McNeil will officiate, and the reverend R.S. Walter Whit Teer
Andrews - Memorial services for Walter Whit Teer, 82, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 5, 2005 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Malcolm F. Slayter of Midland and Darla Jimenez of Andrews officiating. Mr. Teer donated his body to the Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock.
He passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at his residence in Andrews.
He was born July 11, 1923 in Franklin, Texas to George Azmond Teer and Viola LaRue Holman Teer. He graduated from Hobbs, NM High School and from Texas Tech University with a B.S. Degree in Psychology and Spanish. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. While in Odessa, he had worked for McVean & Roberts, Vaughn & Taylor, Conner Construction, and Clyde Construction. He moved to Andrews in 1999 from Odessa. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge, Rocky Mountain Pipeline Association, and was a pilot. He was married
to Doris Wynne Gholson for 21 years, and she preceded him in death in 1971. He was married
to Alma Irene Little for 39 years. He was a member of St. Mathias Episcopal Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife: Irene Teer of Andrews; 2 sons: George Teer of Flower Mound, Texas and David Teer of Athol, Idaho; 3 daughters: Susan Teer Omohundro of Lubbock, Charlotte Teer-Egerton of Mackay, Idaho, and Sidney Gaston of Andrews; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
