Kwen Daren Fisher
Midland - Kwen Daren Fisher, cherished son of Mary Fisher and the late Les Fisher, passed away November 9, 2005, after a long illness. Kwen was born March 11, 1961, in Odessa, Texas, and lived there until the family moved to Midland in 1989. Kwen attended Rusk and Hays Elementary schools and graduated from ECISD Special Programs in May of 1983.
Kwen was a very special person. Everyone who knew Kwen knew that. Every time Kwen would see someone he knew, he greeted them with a handshake or a hug and kiss. As a teenager, Kwen participated in Special Olympics in track and field. Throughout his life, Kwen loved to go to the Broncho football games and lead the band during halftime. It didn’t matter if the Bronchos had a winning season or not. To Kwen, the Bronchos were always Number One.
Kwen loved going with family to Colorado and California, but he especially loved to return to “Kwen’s house.” He was the unofficial greeter for many years at North “A” Church of Christ in Midland and was responsible for handing the collection baskets to the men of the church. Kwen loved to shake hands with members and visitors at the church and loved to be included as one of the guys.
Kwen had an angelic quality about him, mixed with mischief and with love of a good joke. He would put on his furry Santa Claus hat every Christmas, becoming “Kwennie Claus” during the holidays adding to the joy of the season. In any activity in which Kwen was involved, he always did his very best. Kwen was a precious gift from God to his family and to everyone lucky enough to have been touched by his life.
Kwen was preceded in death by his daddy, Les Fisher. He is survived by his mother, Mary Fisher of Midland; by his grandmother, Donna Wells of Rosemead, California; and by his sisters and brother, Lerla Chism of Odessa; Shauna and Robert Thornton of Houston; Jim and Stacie Fisher of Flower Mound; and Kimberly and Jon Stepp of Odessa. Kwen is also survived by his aunts and uncles Dorothy and Carl Schlemeyer, and Chris and Blue Clark, as well as many loved cousins. Pallbearers will be Kwen’s niece and nephews, Leslee Bond, Clay Chism, Chad Chism, Caley Chism, Kagan Thornton, Matthew Thornton, Trent Thornton and Zachary Fisher. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of North “A” Church of Christ who did so much to make Kwen feel valued in service to God.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 11, 2005, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Greg Fleming of North “A” Church of Christ officiating. Bobbie Jo Henson
Odessa - Bobbie Jo Henson, 53, of Odessa passed away Thursday, November 10, 2005 at the Hospice House. She was born July 3, 1952 in Big Spring to Gloria & Calvin Henson. She was in special education classes at MHMR from age 6 to 21 years old. She was in Special Olympics bowling and won 3rd place. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed summer camps, Prude Ranch, playing Bingo and Cross words. She was always surrounded by and loved by her family.
She was preceded in death by her father Calvin Jewell Henson.
She is survived by her mother, Gloria Dean Henson of Odessa, brothers, Tony Calvin Henson & wife Alicia of Tyler, Terry Vonn Henson & wife Becky of Odessa, Kerry Lynn Henson & wife Cristie of Odessa, sisters, Sharon Lea Cecil & husband Larry of Odessa, Shirley Ann Farris & husband Tim of Tyler, Reda McIntosh & husband Gary of Odessa, nieces & nephews: Lesa Huber, T. C. William Everett Berry Sr.
Fort Stanton, N.M. - William Everett Berry, Sr., 55, of Ruidoso, New Mexico, died peacefully November 9, 2005 of complications from cancer. Bill was born June 19, 1950 in Ft. Worth, Texas, the son of Everett and Eve Berry. They lived and traveled all over the continental United States, Hawaii, Japan and the Orient. Bill served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, California on the aircraft carrier Nimitz, with time spent in the Far East. Bill was an avid fisherman and sportsman with a special interest in golf and football. He is preceded in death by his father, Everett, and brother, Michael. Bill is survived by his mother, Mary Evelyn Perkins Berry of Odessa, Texas; his son, William Everett Berry, Jr., wife Lisa and children Emma, William and Faith of Midland, Texas; and sister Carol Shrigley and daughters Jennifer and Christina of La Jolla, California. He also leaves a circle of very special friends in Ruidoso who have been so supportive during his battle with stroke and cancer complications. Bill’s family is forever in their debt for their loving kindness to Bill all these years. The family also extends tremendous gratitude to Ruidoso Hospice for their amazing care for Bill at his life’s end. His struggles were many—but his sense of humor was ever intact. Lagrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso is arranging the graveside service November 16, 2005, at 11:30 AM at Ft. Stanton cemetery in Ft. Stanton, New Mexico. Odessa - Sharon K. Loyd Smith, 53, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at her home. She was born August 9, 1952 in Hobbs, N.M. to William & Reba Loyd. She married
Johnnie Smith December 26, 1986 in Gardendale. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was active in Meals On Wheels in Midland, Texas Sized Garage Sale for Seniors, Childrens Miracle Network, Mission Odessa, Franklin Grahams - Shoe Box, Apt. Ministries.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Johnnie G. Smith of Odessa, parents, Reba & Dewey Loyd of Midland, sisters, Laqueta Howard & husband David of Odessa, Tashya Cole & husband Ronnie of Houston, nieces & nephew, who were the light of their Aunt Go-Go’s life, Christian Lynn, Faith Brinkley Cole, Trace Michael Cole all of Houston.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, November 14, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Odessa, with Rev. Byron McWilliams officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill cemetery.

Gwendolyn Louise Supina
ODESSA - Gwendolyn Louise Supina, 84, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
She was born January 30, 1921 in Lyra, TX to Bert and Eva Mae Smith.
During WWII Gwen worked for Consolidated in Ft. Worth as a Riviter. She also had worked for Otto’s Ice Cream Parlor. She was a member of Legion of Mary at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served on the Prayer Line.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Lorene.
Her loving husband of 63 years, William G. Supina survived her by 7 hours.
She is survived by her cousins, Tim and June Ponsetti, Sr. of San Angelo, Godchildren, Cindy Reed of Schulenburg, TX., Toni Rodriguez and husband Artie of Odessa, Tim Ponsetti, Jr. and wife Pam of Midland, Steve Ponsetti and wife Beth of San Angelo, Theresa Robertson and husband Clint of San Angelo, Patricia Lopez and husband Conrad of San Angelo, Robert Ponsetti and wife Diane of Killeen, John Paul Ponsetti and wife Cathlynne of New York, as well as their church family at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

William George Supina
ODESSA - William George Supina, 84, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
He was born July 17, 1921, in Strawn, TX to Andrew and Janie Supina. He married
Gwendolyn Smith June 8, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in India. He served in the Asiatic - Pacific Theatre and was awarded the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and four overseas bars. He retired from Amoco Production after more than 30 years of service.
He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over 50 years where he served on the Prayer Line, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Gwendolyn and his parents, brothers and a sister.
He is survived by a niece, Jane Geishauser of Harker Heights, TX, cousin, Tim and June Ponsetti, Sr. of San Angelo, Godchildren: Cindy Reed, Toni Rodriguez and husband Artie, Tim Ponsetti, Jr. and wife Pam, Steve Ponsetti and wife Beth, Theresa Robertson and husband Clint, Patricia Lopez and husband Conrad, Robert Ponsetti and wife Diane, and John Paul Ponsetti and wife Cathlynne, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as their church family at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Jack Porter Crane
Odessa - Jack Porter Crane died on November 9, 2005, at the Hospice House, Odessa, Texas, after a short illness. He was born February 3, 1918, in Fruitdale, S.D., to John & Lula Crane.
Jack Crane’s family moved to Prospect Valley, Colorado, where he received his elementary schooling. They next moved to Timnath, Colorado, in the Fort Collins area, where he completed high school. Jack graduated from Colorado State University in 1939 with a degree in Civil Engineering. His first job after graduation was with Noble Drilling Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The following summer he married
his high school sweetheart, Josephine Elizabeth Westerdoll in Goosecreek, Texas, on June 1, 1940. He continued to work for Noble Drilling until the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Jack joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the civil engineering department as a commissioned officer. He served 4 years and was released in early 1945. On being sent to Odessa by Noble Drilling in 1945, he was one of two founders of the local U.S. Navy Reserve. He continued to be active in the reserve for over 20 years and achieved the rank of Captain.
Jack was active in the Downtown Lions Club for almost 50 years being club president in 1959-60. He was also active in the Chuck Wagon Gang for many years. In later years, he and Jo enjoyed traveling with the Sandhills Holiday Rambler Club.
In 1992, Jack retired as chief engineer of Woolley Tool and Manufacturing in Odessa.
Jack Crane and his wife, Jo, have been members of First Christian Church, Odessa, since 1946. He held all board positions and also served as a trustee. He taught youth age Sunday School for 13 years and later taught adult classes for several years. In 2001 he received the Elder Emeritus Award, the highest lay honor.
Jack Crane was preceded in death by his first son, Bill Crane. Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jo Crane, daughter-in-law Lynda Crane Fowler of Odessa; son Dick Crane and wife, Deborah, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and son, Tom Crane and wife, Linda, of Houston. Jack had eight grandchildren: Larry Crane, Lisa Crane, Eric Crane, Hillary Crane, Brittany Crane, Erin Crane, Lauren Crane and Lindsey Crane, and 2 great-grandchildren, John and Nathan.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2005, at First Christian Church, 601 N. Lee, Odessa with Dr. David Mindel officiating. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association.

George Travis Johnston
Odessa - Services for George Travis Johnston, 58, of Cleburne will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 12, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Troy Brewer and Rev. Charles Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Johnston, Dick Johnston, Lastin Johnston, Gene Moore, Nolan Noblett and Michael Martin.
Mr. Johnston passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005 in Cleburne. He was born July 7, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas, to Charles D. and Kathryn Doyle Johnston. He married
Candace Wooten on September 4, 1966, in Odessa, Texas. Mr. Johnston was a retired contractor in the home construction industry. He was a member of Open Door Ministries and the Masonic Lodge of Crowley.
