Barbara Wilkes Henderson

ODESSA - Barbara Wilkes Henderson, born November 4, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away at home Wednesday, October 5, 2005.
She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, great supporter of her community, and avid Mojo and Longhorn football fan.
Barbara’s parents were John and Marguerite Thompson Wilkes, they preceded her in death. She graduated Arlington Heights High School and attended Texas Tech University where she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She also attended Texas Christian University and The University of Texas at Austin.
She married Bryan Neal Henderson on August 22, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas and celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage. They moved to Odessa in 1958. Barbara was active in many community organizations and served as President of the Junior League of Odessa, President of the Odessa Symphony Guild, President of the Crystal Ball Foundation, President of the Odessa Opti-Mrs., President of the Contemporary Study Club, and President of the Women’s Association of the Odessa Country Club. She also served her church as a member of the Board of Trustees, chairman of the Restoration Fundraiser, and member of the Builder’s Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Presidential Museum Board, Planned Parenthood Board, Heritage of Odessa Foundation, Ector County Historical Commission, Ector County Republican Women, Heritage Lighting of Odessa, Main Street Odessa Board, Odessa Panhellenic, Parker House Ranching Museum Board, and Ector Theatre Board for Renovations. Barbara was also involved with the American Cancer Society, Permian Playhouse, Globe Theater, Ellen Noel Art Museum, 4-H Adult Leaders Association, Texas-Exes, and Safari Club International.
She received several honors including: Lifetime Achievement Award from the Junior League of Odessa, Community Statesman Award in Humanities from the Heritage Foundation of Odessa, Distinguished Women Award from the Girl Scouts of America, and the Outstanding Young Women of America Award.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bryan, her daughter Teresa Owens and husband Mark of Odessa, son, Dr. Bryan Henderson, II and wife Karen of Dallas, son, John Henderson and wife Beth of San Antonio.
She is also survived by grandchildren, the lights of her life, Bryan Henderson III, Mark Owens II, Merritt Owens, John Henderson II, Lera Henderson and Alyse Henderson.
Barbara is also survived by her brother, Roy Wilkes, Jr. and wife, Libba of Jackson, Mississippi, uncle, Mayo Thompson of Houston, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the family home from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, Funeral services will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverends Terry Tamplin and Donnie Williams officiating. Interment to follow at the Henderson Ranch Family cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Bryan Henderson II, Bryan Henderson III, John Henderson, John Henderson II, Judge Mark Owens and Mark Owens, II.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Department, 415 North Lee, 79761.
A special thank you to Home Hospice for their support and care, caregivers, Velma, Rose and Ava and the special friends in her life.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Elauteria Banuelos

Odessa - Elauteria Banuelos, 83, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
She was born in El Indio.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Joe Banuelos, Lorenzo Banuelos, and Santiago Banuelos, all of Odessa, and Ascencion Banuelos of Pecos; daughters, Maria Vega and Yolanda Banuelos, both of Odessa; 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Kay Keltner Courtright

Crane - Kay Keltner Courtright, 66 of Crane, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 in the Regency Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Crane with Reverend Tommy Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral home of Crane.
Kay was born on June 20, 1939 in Crane, Texas. Kay was a longtime resident of Crane; a homemaker, and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband, Charles Lively of Crane; and numerous cousins and friends.

Blake Copeland

ODESSA - Blake Copeland, loving son, brother and fiancé, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 6, 2005 in Waco, Texas.
Blake was born in Monahans, TX on October 13, 1965. He moved to Odessa in 1966. He graduated from Permian High School in 1984 and then went on to earn a degree in Technical Engineering from Tarleton State University in 1988.
He has lived in China Springs, TX for the past 6 years. Blake was a member of the United States Team Roping Championship and Team Ropers Association.
Blake loved horses, roping and the rodeo way of life. Blake will be loved and missed dearly by his friends and loved ones.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Linda Copeland of Odessa, his sister, Michelle Copeland of Odessa, his grandmother, Mary Sue Blair of Odessa, his fiancé, Molly Oglesby of China Springs and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A family visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005 from 7-8 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 9, 2005 in the Chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Bill Cook officiating.
Interment will be held on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 10 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be, Cliff Self, Doug Wilson, Jeff Downing, Gary Tate, Jet Brown, Stacy Nichols and Brian Blair.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Bill Ed McKenzie

Fort Stockton - Bill Ed McKenzie, a member of a prominent pioneer ranching family of Pecos County, died in Kerrville, Texas, October 6, 2005. He was lifelong resident of Pecos County until poor health caused him to move to the hill country in 2002. He was born September 22, 1920, in Fort Stockton to Cleo and Mary Lea Thomson McKenzie, and was named William Edwin but was always called Bill Ed. His beloved grandchildren gave him his most cherished title, “Pop.”
Bill Ed attended school in Fort Stockton, where he graduated from high school in 1939, and later went to Tarlton State College. He was a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II. One of the highlights of his life was attending of his life was attending the First National Boy Scout Jamboree in Washington, DC. He loved the Boy Scouts and felt it had a positive impact on his life and encouraged all young men to join the organization,
Ranching was Bill Ed’s lifetime profession, and he often said that he was one of the most fortunate people on earth because he could work at a job he loved. The McKenzie family-owned ranch was Escondido, and he was the general manager of the 240 sections, seven ranch operation. He worked closely with his mother and brothers as they raised Ramboulette sheep, goats and Brangus cattle. After his mother died, Bill Ed ranched the Hat A until his retirement.
Bill Ed held dual membership in the Fort Stockton and the Kerrville First United Methodist Churches. He served in many leadership in the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Assn., where he served as a Director. He was a Director and President of Texas Farm Bureau, President and Director of Ranchers Wool and Mohair, served on Farmers Home Administration committee, the A.S.C. Committee, and was the area Farmers Home Administration Office Manager. He served on the Girvin ISD Board as Secretary; Bill Ed was a member of the Fort Stockton Rotary Club, serving as President, as well as many other offices within the club. He was awarded the Rotary Outstanding Rancher’s Award and Rotarian of the Year 1981-82. He was also awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by the Fort Stockton Club. He was Director and Vice-Chairman of the Pecos County Tax Appraisal Board and a member of the Pecos County Livestock Show Association. He was a member of the Fort Stockton Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was proud of Fort Stockton and considered it a special honor to serve on the Historical Commission.
Bill Ed is Survived by his wife, Kathryn of Kerrville, a son, Blake and wife Beth and daughters Kristen, Kelsie and Kendall of Kerrville, He also Leaves granddaughter, Lori Ann Lannon and husband Michael and son William Patrick of Worcester, Mass., and Deborah Wynn of Lake Dallas and daughter Ashley Marie Gognas. In addition, he is survived by the family he welcomed when he and Kathryn married more than twelve years ago, daughters, Melinda McElligott and husband Mark, Rhonda Mauldin and husband Gene, son Richard McKee and wife Twila, and twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Chapman and her husband Bill, Tyler, brothers, Gregg and wife Lou Ann, Fort Stockton, and L.B. (Buster) and wife Barbara, Odessa, sister-in law, Billie McKenzie, Fort Stockton, Mickie McKenzie, McCamey and Carolyn McKenzie Edwards, Kerrville. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth, to whom he was married almost fifty years, also a daughter Barbara Ann Wynn, and an infant daughter Mary Ann, Also three brothers, C.R., Row Neal and Bruce.
Bill Ed also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends including his beloved pet constant companion, “Princess”.
A celebration of life of Bill Ed McKenzie will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Stockton on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Larry Krueger, Carlsbad, N.M., Rev. Blake McKenzie and Pastor Linda Mizell, officiating. Interment will follow in East Hill cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be Rex McKenzie, Ted McKenzie, Larry McKenzie, Kirke McKenzie, Mark McKenzie, Mike Fairbank, Dean McKenzie and Dee Sims.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge, Rotary Club and 1939 Fort Stockton Graduating Class and Bill Ed’s Nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Awaken to Life Ministry, P.O. Box 291512 Kerrville, Texas 78029, First United Methodist Church, Fort Stockton, Texas, or to the West Texas Boy’s Ranch.

Sarah Tucker

McCamey - Sarah Tucker, 65 of McCamey, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2005 in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverends Jodi Windbigler and Earl Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven cemetery in McCamey with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Sarah was born on October 19, 1939 in Coleman, Texas. She married Max Tucker on July 15, 1956. She was a bookkeeper in the business office for the McCamey ISD. Sarah had lived in McCamey most all of her life; and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Clydine Wolfrum.
She is survived by her husband, Max Tucker of McCamey; her daughter, Melissa Kirby and husband Edwin of Tyler, TX; three grandchildren, Tucker Kirby, Taylor Kirby, and Tiffany Kirby, all of Tyler; two sisters, Carol James of Midland, and Becky Gryder of Fort Worth; a nephew, Doug James; nieces, LeAnna James, Jana Gryder, and Janet Dilts.

Grace Baldwin

Odessa - Grace Baldwin, 92, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born November 11, 1913 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Daniel & Sophia Molsehan Glavin. She married James L. Baldwin in Austin on December 18, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She has lived in Odessa since 1969. She was active with Catholic Charities.
Mrs. Baldwin is survived by her two daughters, Betty Lou Johnsick of Odessa and Patricia Ann Baldwin of Fresno, California, (9) grandchildren and (4) great grandchildren.
There will be a rosary at 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Christopher Lee Breeding

Gilmer - Funeral services for Christopher Breeding, 17, of Gilmer will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas with Neal Thornburg officiating. Burial to follow at Enon cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Croley Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
Christopher passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2005 in Gilmer. He was born on November 28, 1987 in Odessa, Texas to Terry Dean Breeding & Tonya Renee Sellers.
Christopher graduated from Harmony High School, May 2005. While attending school he worked at Spencer Vet Clinic in Gilmer. Chris, as he was known to his many family and friends was a hardworking, intelligent, very determined young man. With the leadership that he learned in Harmony’s FFA Chapter from advisors Cody and Rachelle Darby, he sat out to Texas A & M in the early fall of 2005, to accomplish his goal in life, to become a vet. That was his passion. That was his life. Chris was an avid guitar player. He loved to play his guitar and sing Country music and every now an again a little bit of Rock and Roll. He was a good listener and a wonderful Big Brother to sister Lockie. Chris will be sorely missed by his many family and friends. The family would like to thank Randall Spencer for his love and compassion to Chris.
A loved one that has finished their life on earth is not dead, there life has just begun. They are here in spirit. That you must believe. They are called Angels.
Christopher is survived by his father, Terry Dean Breeding of Odessa, mother and step-father, Tonya & James Horn of Gilmer, sister; Lockie Breeding of Gilmer, grandparents, Helen Breeding of Odessa and the late Roy Breeding, grandmother:, Nadean Shipley of Andrews, grandfather, John Quinn of Brandon, Mississippi, grandparents, Jimmy Dan & Opal Sellers of Jefferson, Texas, PAPA-Earl Breeding of Odessa, Texas, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers are D.J. Anderson, Austin Edwards, A. J. Castloo, Brandon Langford, Cody Reynolds, Mathew Whitt, Hadden Starnes, Nick Theaux. Honorary Pallbearers are Jake Atchely, Chad Davis, Tyler Davis, Scott Poole, Randall Spencer, Cody Darby, Algie Tuttle and Justin Harland.
