Odessa - Mrs. S.A. “Corinne” Parker, 99, of Midland died Monday, December 5, 2005 in Midland. She was born November 18, 1906 in Clifton, TX.
She married
Shid A. Parker February 27, 1930 in Midland, he preceded her in death. She graduated from Baylor University. She was a school teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the first Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her nephew, James W. Standefer of Ingram, TX. niece, Patricia Berka of Dallas and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Nora Fitch officiating.

William Boyd ‘Bill’ Sides
Odessa - William Boyd (Bill) Sides, 49, of Odessa passed away Monday, December 5, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 21, 1956 in Portales, N.M. to Boyd & Billie Sides. He moved to Odessa in 1972 from Clovis, N.M. He was a licensed chemical dependency counselor for the Ector County Adult Probation Department. He married
Gale King on January 10, 1980 in Odessa.
He is survived by his wife, Gale Sides of Odessa, daughter, Sally Whitney & husband Tommy of Odessa, father Boyd Sides of Odessa & mother, Billie Howard of Clovis, N.M., mother-in-law, Laverne King of Odessa, sisters, Edna Lovins of Hamilton, OH, Boysetta Biggs of Roswell, N.M. & Laura Lee Homsey of Odessa, and (2) grandchildren, Tyler & Bailey Whitney, step-brother, David Hamlett of Evans, CO., step-sisters, Tracy Conastner of Arlington, Joyce Jackson of Midland, Heather Griffith, Megan Griffith & Sherika Griffith all of Odessa and a host of aunts, uncles & friends.

Odessa - June Surratt, 86, passed away December 4, 2005, at Deering Nursing Home, in Odessa. She was born June 7, 1919, in Abernathy, Texas to parents Jasper Miles and Nannie Bell Moreman. She was a bookkeeper. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Colver Moreman, and great grandson, Jeremy Dunlap. She is survived by her son, Skip Parkey, and wife, Paula, and daughter, Fredda Williams, and husband, Eddie, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Keverly Dunlap, of Midland, Tony Williams and wife, Marley, of Richmond, VA, Melanie Williams, of Dallas, Heath Parkey of Austin, Kelly Frasier of Lubbock, Cory Frasier of Ft. Worth, Jaime Bankston and husband Jeffrey, of Odessa, Brenda Williams, and family, of Odessa, Connie Wallace and family, and Eddie Williams, Jr., and son all of Gladewater; great grandchildren, Shelby Dunlap, and wife Angela of Arlington, Daven Williams of Richmond, VA, and Ethan Bankston of Odessa. Daphna Geraldine ‘Gerri’ Ball
Odessa - Daphna Geraldine “Gerri” Ball, age 70, passed away Friday, September 9, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
She was born April 3, 1935, to John Wymer and Zula Geraldine Smith in Monkstown, TX. She married
Dalton Darrell Ball on April 23, 1976, in Odessa. She was a mother to all who entered her home. She was a realtor and a member of Highland United Methodist Church. She was also a past member of the Rebecca Lodge.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14th, at Highland United Methodist Church with Clydel Chapman of Northside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alan Glover, and a brother, Cotton Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Dalton Darrell Ball of Odessa, son, John “Lance” Glover and wife, Wendy, of Odessa, daughters, Judy Gail Caldwell and husband, Alan, of Norman, OK, Dona Freeman of Fort Worth, TX, Lisa Ball of Colorado City, TX, and Teresa Miller and husband, Shawn, of Lewisville, TX, brother, John W. Smith and wife, Mary Jane, of Odessa, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leora Elisabeth Jones Leslie
Odessa - Our loving mother passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home in Odessa on September 11, 2005.
She was born in Van Alystyne, TX on January 17, 1924. She graduated from McCamey High School in 1941, where she was a music lover, playing, the sax and piano. After graduation, she attended beauty school in Lubbock, after which she moved to Dallas and worked at Highland Park. After a year of bright lights of Dallas, she returned to Crane to work as a beautician. She married
John L. Stokes in 1943. Out of that union, 3 daughters were born. She continued her work as a beautician for the remainder of her life. She was very active in sewing clubs. She won several awards, including the Bernina Award held in Switzerland. As well as numerous blue ribbons and best of show award from the Permian Basin Fair and Expo. She often designed her own clothes and made her own patterns for herself and her family. She made everything from prom dresses to swimming suits to tuxedos. She was approached by McCall’s Patterns to design patterns. She was an outstanding cook as well as an avid recipe collector. There was always an extra plate set on the table for anyone wanting a home cooked meal. In 1985 she was honored with a volunteer of the year award for donating her time to Deerings Nursing Home. She loved doing every ones hair and teaching arts and crafts. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Here too, she was very active in volunteer work. Her last major project was working on a labyrinth for the youth group at the church.
She is survived by 3 loving daughters Kay Howard of Crane, Delores “Shorty” Stokes and Pam Rogers of Odessa; three grandchildren, Kristi Woodward of Crane, Don Woodward and fiancé Michelle Ivie of Midland, and Tony McDow of Austin; three great grandchildren Zac Woodward, Megan and Max Ivie of Midland. Co-worker and long time friend Betty Woodard; step sister, Billie and Marc Green; extended family Judy Duckworth, Sharon Wilson, Rhonda Krough, Shelly Todd and Paula Brazeal as well as numerous friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Claude H. Jones and Lillian M. (Jones) Holmes and brother William L. “Toots” Jones.
Family and friends visitation will be Wednesday, September 14th, from 5:pm to 7:pm at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors 4635 Oakwood. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday September 20th at 2:00 pm at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ at 601 N. Lee.

Evelyn Shields
Coleman - Evelyn Shields, age 71, long-time Odessa resident, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at River Springs Health Care Center in San Marcos, Texas. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 12 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Santa Anna cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman, Texas.
She was born Evelyn Joyce Arthur on November 11, 1933 in Santa Anna, Texas, a daughter of Mildred J. Williams Arthur and the late William Preston Arthur. She grew up in Santa Anna where she attended school. On January 28, 1949 she married
Robert Shields in Santa Anna and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1997. She lived in Odessa for 40 years and was a secretary/bookkeeper for a grocery store. She had lived in San Marcos for the past two years. She was Baptist and had been a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW in Odessa.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Lynn and Kaye Shields of Austin, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Mike Hoagland of Austin, Texas; her mother, Mildred Arthur of San Marcos, Texas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Shields Holling, Ben Shields, Carrie Roberts, Haylee Hoagland, Robbie Hoagland; three great-grandchildren, Chloe Shields, Nicholas Austin, Dylan Hawk Holling; two brothers, Jerry Arthur of Junction, Texas, J. W. Arthur of Jasper, Texas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tylene Wright, Edith Gilbert, Leona and Mark Frazee, Leo and Louise Shields.

Odessa - Blanca Pando Ponce, 49, Diana Ponce, 19, and Diana’s unborn daughter Lydia Ponce passed away Wednesday in Odessa.

Ruben Gonzales Prado
ODESSA - Memorial Service for Ruben Gonzales Prado will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2005, with Military Honors, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, in Odessa, Texas.
Mr. Prado entered into enternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Midland Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Lupus.
Ruben was born May 13, 1947 in Fort Stockton, Texas. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Mr. Prado attended the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and received a BS degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Ruben worked as a accountant up until the last 8 year of his life.
Ruben’s survivors include his wife of 38 years, Diane, of Odessa; two children, Ruben P. Prado and his wife Janetta, of Midland; Shannon R. Isarraraz, and her husband Juan, of Del Rio, Texas; his brother, Manuel Prado Jr. and his wife Jan of Dallas, Texas; and five grandchildren, Katherine A., Thomas A. and Sarah M. Prado, all of Midland; Taylor R. and Brian J. Isarraraz both of Del Rio, Texas.

FORT STOCKTON - Mass for Eulogio “Payoyo” Alvarado Gonzales, 88, of Odessa will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Stockton with Father Floro Hinacay officiating.
Interment will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.
Mr. Gonzales died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at his residence in Odessa. He was born Oct. 25, 1917, in Lajitas to Sipriano Gonzales and Marina Alvarado. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his brother, Francisco Gonzalez; and his sister, Mary G. Gonzalez.
