ODESSA - Alicia Gonzalez, 76 years, a homemaker and caregiver, ascended to Heaven Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005.
Alicia was Catholic and was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Marfa, raised in Ft. Stockton to father Rafael Dominguez and mother Elena Lujan.
She is preceded in death by spouse Mack G. Gonzalez from Odessa, her parents, and brother Bonifacio Dominguez from Fort Stockton.
Rosary was held Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at 7 p.m. at Martinez Smith Funeral Chapels.
Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Survivors: Only child son, Johnny M. Gonzalez and wife Isabelle of Midland; brother, Roberto Dominguez of Fort Stockton; sisters, Carmen Sarabia and Pasquala Nunez, both of Fort Stockton, and Ester Nunez of Odessa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Helen Lucille Watt
ODESSA - Helen Lucille Watt age 86, of Odessa, passed away Friday, December 30, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital.
Visitation was held be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev Paul Bauernfeind.
Helen was born May 4, 1919 in Meridian, Mississippi to Jeff and Alice (Moore) Casey.
She married
LaFolia Watt on November 15, 1942 in Beaumont. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Helen is survived by her husband La Folia “Bud” Watt of Odessa; daughter Kathy Adams and husband Hugh of Odessa; sister Ruth Davis of Austin; granddaughter Laurie Speir and husband Michael of Mobile, AL; great granddaughters Amelia and Amanda Speir of Mobile, AL.

Samuel Drake Brown
ODESSA - Samuel Drake Brown was born January 25, 1911 to James and Louella Brown in Yalobusha County, Mississippi.
He passed away December 29, 2005 at 7:22 p.m. at the Hospice House in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 3, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Frank Wilson Chapel with Lynn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens where Masonic Rite will be recited.
Samuel was the youngest of ten children. He was raised a Methodist by his mother who was widowed when he was only 6 weeks old. He was a true “Southern Gentleman”! As a young man, he discovered his love for automobiles, and became a mechanic stepping away from farming.
He moved to El Paso, Texas in 1934. This is where “the girl from Tennessee and the boy from Mississippi” met. Sam married
Wilma Galloway, July 12, 1936 in Roswell, New Mexico.
During World War II, Sam went to work for Standard Oil/Chevron. He and his family were transferred to Wink, Texas in 1948, where he and Wilma raised their two daughters. He was a member of the Wink Lions Club for over twenty, years, and served six years on the Wink School Board. Sam was a Master Mason and affiliated with Fraternity No. 1111 for 50 years.
In 1969, Chevron transferred him back to El Paso. He continued to work for Chevron until he retired in 1974 after 32 years of service. After his retirement he severed as a consultant for Chevron several years. In 1993, Sam and Wilma moved to Odessa to be closer to their family. He thoroughly enjoyed many holidays, birthdays and special occasions with his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandsons, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 69 ½ years Wilma Brown, daughters Martha Lou Long of McCamey, Texas, Marion Berryhill and son-in-law Sheril Berryhill of Odessa, grandsons Tracy Long and wife Tina of Katy, Texas, Perry Berryhill and T.J. of Odessa, Darren Berryhill and wife Kathy of Odessa, great grandchildren Kyle Long, Adison Long, Laci Sullinger, Ryan Berryhill, Zachery Berryhill, Nicholas Woolley and Emily Berryhill.
Sam will be missed by all who knew and loved him but especially by his wife and family.
Pallbearer are Tracy Long, Perry Berryhill, Darren Berryhill, Kyle Long, Gregg Eddings and Cameron Kirkland.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chevron Pipeline Retirees.
Memorials can be made to Hospice House of Odessa.

Elpidia Carrasco
ODESSA - Elpidia Carrasco, 38 years of age, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2005, at her residence in Odessa.
She was born April 10, 1967, to Meliton Carrasco and Carmen Sanchez in Ojinaga, MX.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, January 3, 2006, at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Uecker officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Mauro Barraza of Presidio, TX; sons, Jaime C. Pina, Jesus C. Pina and Samuel Carrasco, all of Ojinaga, MX; daughters, Abilene Carrasco, Maritza Carrasco, and Mauri Jasmin Carrasco, all of Odessa; father, Meliton Carrasco; brothers, Cruz Modesto of Kermit, TX, Felipe Muniz of Ojinaga, MX, Samuel Carrasco, Elizardo Carrasco and Meliton Carrasco Jr., all of Odessa, TX; sisters, Juana Hernandez of Kermit, Maria Martinez of Lovington, N.M., Sylvia Muniz of Ojinaga, MX, Socorro Valencia of Odessa, TX and Mirta Marquez of Lovington, N.M.

Anthony “Craig” Combs
ODESSA - Anthony “Craig” Combs, age 45, of Odessa passed away Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital, after a courageous fight with ALS.
Craig was born May 28, 1960 to Jesse Ivan Combs and Paula Jean Combs in Hobbs, NM. They moved to Odessa, TX in 1963, and he graduated from Permian High School in 1978. Later, he married
Debra Babcock, February 7, 1987 in Odessa, TX. He worked for Sivall’s Inc. as a Technical Engineer for twenty four years.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Combs of Odessa; Parents, Paula and Jesse Combs of Odessa; Daughters, Kimberly Neontha Harding and husband Eric of Texas City, TX, Jennifer Denise Temple and husband Lance of Odessa and Grandchildren Averi and Chaz Temple also of Odessa. He also has a brother, James Combs of Florence, TX, and grandmother, Helen Richardson of Odessa; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Richard and Betty Babcock of Odessa, and his beloved dog, Mindy. He is also survived by his aunt, Judith Steusser and husband Dennis of Corpus Christi, TX,and uncle Eugene Combs of Ontario, CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Craig is preceded in death by his granparents, Elda Combs, Jesse F. Combs, and Jimmie Richardson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Chapel at 2:00 pm, with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guest at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Tuesday, January 3, 2006 from 6:00 till 8:00 pm.

Fannie A. McCain
Odessa - Fannie A. McCain, 84 of Odessa, passed away Friday, December 30, 2005 at Deerings Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday in the Frank Wilson Chapel with Rev. Brian Saffle officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday in the Littlefield Memorial Park cemetery in Littlefield, Texas.
Fannie was born February 28, 1921 in Stephens County, Oklahoma to Charles and Lula (Hammer) Goldston. She married
Ercel McCain on December 24, 1939 in Rockyford Churchland County, Texas. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and had worked in sales for the retail industry.
She is survived by her son Thomas McCain and wife Lynda of Odessa; brother Willis H. Goldston of Odessa; three grandchildren Raymond, Jessica and Derek; three great grandchildren Mercedes, Hallie and Morgan.

Estes G. “Buddy” Shivers Sr.
WORTHAM - Estes G. “Buddy” Shivers Sr., 94, passed away, Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, while residing at Live Oak Nursing Home in George West.
He was born June 5, 1911, in Tehuacana, Texas.
Estes, or Buddy as he was known to his friends, worked for more than 50 years in the oilfields of East Texas, Southeast New Mexico and West Texas. He lived in Lovington, N.M. and Hobbs N.M., however, Odessa, Texas, where he lived later in his life was considered his home.
Estes was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Riley Shivers, and two sons, E.G. “Gil” Shivers Jr. and Larry Shivers. He is survived by one granddaughter, Debbie McClure of Logan, N.M. and grandsons, Phil Shivers of Midland, Stacy Shivers of San Antonio, Dave Shivers of Logan, N.M. and Doug Shivers Caudle of Truth or Consequences, N.M.
Buddy is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Wortham with the Rev. James Mack Strange officiating.
Pallbearers will be Terry Don Shivers, Jimmie Shivers, George Shivers, Randy Bates, Bill Shivers and Dickie Thornton. Honorary pallbearer is Christopher Shivers.

Doyle Manford Kirby
ODESSA - Doyle Manford Kirby, 79, passed away January 2nd in the arms of his family.
He was born December 17, 1926, in Bokhoma, OK, to Earl and Alice Kirby. He was raised on a farm at Harris, OK, and graduated from Haworth High School where he was the captain of the boxing team. After graduation, he entered the Army in the 13th General Hospital Division during WWII.
He returned to Idabel, OK, in March 1947, and married
Delora Goodin. Looking for work, his car ran out of gas in Odessa, TX, in June 1947. Since there were no vacant motel rooms, he slept on the courthouse lawn.
He was hired as a roughneck by Skaggs & Tullous Drilling in 1947, and in 1948, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum. While working for Phillips, he contracted with FHA to remodel their repossessed homes. In 1962, he started his own independent contractor business for Humble Pipeline, later Exxon. He also owned Kirby Paint and Repair Co. until retiring in 1994. He was a Master cabinetmaker and woodworker, was a licensed gun dealer, and owned K-Bar Arms. After retiring, he was a partner with his wife in Red Door Antiques.
His hobbies were family, fishing, hunting, traveling, and woodworking. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
A strong, quiet, Christian man, he believed in absolute honesty and integrity and giving a man a day’s work “plus” for a day’s pay.
Our “Daddy” and “Pappy” is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Delora Kirby; son, David Kirby and wife Linda of Lamesa; daughter, Cindy Lee and husband Larry of Odessa; grandson, Greg Kirby, wife Christi, and their three children, Gregory, Hannah, and Matthew of The Woodlands; granddaughter, Amanda Hart and husband Jayson of Lamesa; grandson, Clint Lee and wife Cassie of Odessa; grandson, Dustin Lee of Odessa; and two sisters, Louise Bell of Haworth, OK and Ruth Layton of Oakgrove, LA.
There will be formal visitation Wednesday night from 7 til 9 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Sunset Memorial Chapel services will be Thursday, January 5, 2006, at 2 p.m., Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will be receiving guests at 75 Shiloh Rd, Odessa, TX.
