Ozie Mae Mathews

ODESSA - Born October 24, 1906, as Ozie Mae Folsom, in Shelby County, Texas; she died December 20, 2005, at her home in Odessa, surrounded by her loving family and caretakers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Mathews, a daughter, Brooksie Stephens, and a son, David Johnson.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Jones, and Mary Thomas, both of Odessa, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Ozie Mae is now safe in the arms of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Saviour. We will miss our mother and grandmother, but we will always remember her sense of humor, her wit, and her great spirit. She has gone to be with those loved ones she has missed for so long. We wish her joy in her reunion.
Ozie Mae was a true Texas pioneer woman. Her life is a testament to hard work and loving kindness. She will be greatly missed.
There will be a family visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta, TX. Burial will follow at Hope cemetery in Henrietta.

Doris Fayo

Odessa - Doris Fayo, age 78, passed away Friday, November 11, 2005, at the Hospice House in Odessa.
She was born April 23, 1927, to Oran and Margaret (Taft) Mann in Sherman, TX. She married John Fayo in 1944 and they were the owners of Rig’s Service Inc. She worked for various nursing homes for 15 years, and was an administrative nurse at Deering’s Nursing Home before she and her husband retired to Lake Hubbard in Breckenridge, TX. She also enjoyed her pets, Candi and Mandy, and loved to work in her garden. She was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bill Mann, and by her husband, John, in 1999.
Survivors include her son, Johnny Fayo and wife, Dianna, of Odessa; grandchildren, Mary Ann Brown and husband, Scott; Susan Feuer and husband, Bill; and Sherry Fayo; great-grandchildren, Megan Brown, Stephanie Brown, Craig Feuer, Brittany Feuer, Lawrence Feuer, and Branson Feuer, and one great-great-grandchild, Anaya Feuer.
There will be a family visitation on Tuesday, November 15, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at the Chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Idalou cemetery in Idalou, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Hospice House of Odessa, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX 79761.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Reverend Grover Bishop

Athens - Reverend Grover Bishop, 76, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend James Bishop officiating. A chapel service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Carroll Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, Texas. Burial will follow in Athens.
Grover Bishop was born December 18, 1928 in Cullowhee, North Carolina to Neal and Birdie (Hooper) Bishop. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Rosalie Ludwig on June 8, 1951 in Ft. Worth. He earned degrees in Theology PHD at Calvary Baptist in Melbourne, Florida, Minister PHD from Bethany Theology Seminary in Dothen, Alabama, Divinity PHD from North Baptist College in Ft. Worth and Divinity PHD from Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana. He pastured for 49 years. Some of the churches he served were Calvary Baptist in Graham, Bible Baptist in Bowie, Fairview Baptist in Little Rock, Central Baptist in Athens and Calvary Baptist in Odessa.
He is preceded in death by his son William Ross Bishop.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Rosalie Bishop of Odessa; sons John Mark Bishop of Athens, Rev. James Bishop and wife Shirley of Odessa; foster children John and Maria Lashwa of Maybank,; daughters Lydia Bishop of Athens, Sandy Kietzman and husband Rev. Tim Kietzman of Columbia, Mo., Peggy Hoffman and husband John of Conway, Ark.; brother Bill Bishop of Sylva, NC.; grandchildren Jimmy Mabry, Jennifer Mabry, Shawna LaHue, Belinda LaHue, Carra Bishop, Rachel Bishop, Tony Bishop and great-grandchild Christian.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Calvary Baptist Church Mission Fund 8644 Andrews Hwy, Odessa, Texas 79765.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Celia Acosta Simmelink

Monahans - Celia Acosta Simmelink, born April 13, 1954, in Monahans, Texas, to Julio and Anita Acosta, passed away July 27, 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 51.
Celia fought a long and courageous battle against overwhelming health problems, to stay with the people she loved. She lived her life with grace and dignity that was an inspiration to everyone that knew her.
Celia supported her husband Steven’s, Air Force career of 25 years, and lived at several stateside and overseas locations during that time. She was a talented artist, loving wife, mother and grandma. She will be missed and will be in our hearts forever.
Celia is survived by her husband of 25 years, Steven Simmelink of Tuscon, Arizona. Also by 1 son, Alfred Carrasco III, of Odessa, and 2 daughters, Anita Maria Demoranville and Angela Dawn Wagner, both of Tuscon, Arizona. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Steven Paul and Pilar Demoranville, Cotton Blue and Harlie Hunter Wagner, all of Tuscon, Arizona. Her brothers, Loyd Acosta, of Irving, Julio Acosta, Jr. of Arlington, Marty Acosta of Eunice, New Mexico, Angel Acosta of Andrews, Fernando Acosta of Monahans and Pablo Acosta of Monahans, as well as 1 sister, Maria Ontiveros of Odessa.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 14, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church of Monahans. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery with Father John Lucido officiating. Services are entrusted to Harkey Family Funeral Services of Monahans.

Frances Esmond Walker

Odessa - Frances Esmond Walker, 82 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 10, 2005. Frances was born October 24, 1922 in Lamesa, Texas to the pioneer family of M.C. Lindsey and Tommie Lindsey. Her father was one of the organizers of the Town of Lamesa and served as the first County Judge of Dawson County and was well known to the development of the area.
Frances was reared in Lamesa, graduated from Lamesa High School, and earned a degree in business from the University of Texas at Austin. In 1946 she moved to Odessa after marrying Kenneth E. Esmond, a civic leader and engineer, for 33 years until his death in 1977. She was married to Elton Gilliland, a civic leader and attorney, for 19 years until his death in 1998. On March 16, 2002, she married Charles Walker, a civic leader and business manager for Ector County Independent School District.
Frances was always vitally interested in making Odessa a better place in which to live. With this as one of her ultimate goals, she devoted her time and talents to her home, family, church, and community. For three decades she taught many young people in the Sunday School of the First Baptist Church of Odessa. She gave time and encouragement at the Door of Hope Mission.
Having belonged to Alpha Delta Pi while attending the University of Texas, Frances became a charter member of Pan-Hellenic and held various offices in the local organization including Chairman of the Well Baby Clinic. She served as co-chairman of the residential drive for funds for the Community Chest. She was Chairman of the Mothers March on Polio before the Salk vaccine was discovered.
Feeling that good music was vital to the community, Frances gave many hours to the Odessa Symphony Guild and the Odessa Symphony Association. She held various offices in the Guild including two terms as President. She is past member of the joint board of the Midland-Odessa Symphony.
Frances served on the Board of Directors of Permian Bank & Trust. As a member of the Women’s Auxiliary to Medical Center Hospital, she was VP and contributed many hours of service. Her interests were varied and included many facets of the world scene. As a member of the Pan-American Roundtable, she worked to promote harmony between the United States and Latin America. During her lifetime she traveled to 112 countries on every continent throughout the world. The Thursday Study Club was a vital part of her activities. She has held every office in this organization. She served as president of the Women’s Forum in 1968-69.
Frances was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Clay Esmond. She is survived by her husband Charles Walker of Odessa, son Steve Esmond of Irvine, California, daughter Carolyn Esmond Tweedie of Phoenix, Arizona, daughter-in-law Diane Esmond Kendall of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren: Richard Esmond, Greg Esmond, Chris Esmond, Matt Tweedie, Aaron Tweedie, Bryan Tweedie, and Amy Esmond; and four great-grandchildren: Kayla Esmond, Ross Esmond, Rylee Esmond, and Degan Tweedie.
Visitation will be held at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2005. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Odessa at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2005 with the Rev. Bailey Stone officiating. Services entrusted to Frank Wilson Funeral Directors. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Odessa, or Hospice/Odyssey Health Care.

Frederick F. ‘Ding’ Tracy

FORT WORTH - Frederick F. “Ding” Tracy, 87, loving husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully Wednesday, December 7, 2005.
Memorial service: Friends and Family will celebrate his life at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church. Rev. Christopher Jambor will officiate. Interment : Northeast Harbor, Maine.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Ding’s memory may be honored with a gift to All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76107; VITAS Charitable Fund, 2501 Parkview Dr., Suite 600, Fort Worth, TX 76102 or to a charity of choice.
Frederick Foster Tracy was born Nov. 8, 1918 to S.E. and Kay Tracy in Northeast Harbor, Maine. His father nicknamed him “Ding” because of his tendency to stumble during walks through the woods.
An engineering graduate of the University of Maine, he soon joined the U.S. Navy as a Lt. JG and served in the Pacific during WWII stationed in Hawaii. There Ding met his future wife, Jane Marie Gilman, a native of Cisco who was teaching on Maui.
After marrying, they moved to Odessa, where he began a long career as an engineer in the petroleum industry, at one time running his own company, Trayco. Ding lived in Odessa for 37 years, where his outgoing personality, honesty, and sense of humor helped him create and foster many enduring friendships. He was a lay reader and member of the vestry at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
When he retired, he and Jane moved to the lake where they both relaxed, and he was able to boat or play golf daily (making three holes-in-one along the way).
Ding loved life and people, and that love was returned in kind. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother, Tiffy Burr and Buss Tracy.
Survivors: His wife of 59 years, Jane; children, Gilman Tracy and his wife, Mary of Fort Worth, and Wynne Bredlow and her husband, Tony of Mesquite; grandchildren, Drew and Grace Tracy of Fort Worth.

Carl P. Matthews

Coleman - Carl P. Matthews, age 82, of Coleman, died Friday, December 9, 2005 at Coleman County Medical Center. The service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rodney Martin officiating. Private interment will be held at the Gouldbusk cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman, Texas.
Carl P. Matthews was born July 12, 1923 in Leaday, Coleman County, Texas, a son of Joe and Vivian Cohea Matthews. He grew up in Leaday and graduated from Mozelle High School. On March 16, 1946 he was married to Delma Martin. He lived in Odessa for many years where he was a production foreman in the oil and gas industry. He moved to Coleman in 1986 and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Delma Matthews of Coleman; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Matthews and David Dismukes of Waco, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Ted Matthews and wife Betsy King of Anson, Texas; one grandson, Matthew King; two brothers, Lester and Willie Matthews both of Coleman; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death his parents and a sister, Ruth Row.
Family visitation will be held on Saturday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

(BJ) Bobby Ray Boiles, Jr.

ODESSA - (BJ) Bobby Ray Boiles, Jr., 23, of Odessa, passed away, Friday, December 23, 2005, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
He was born to his parents, Bobby Ray, Sr. and Lola Bryan Boiles on February 21, 1982 in Midland, TX.
He was a drilling boom hand for Cap Star Oil Co. He was affiliated with Foursquare Gospel Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alisha Fikes, his daughter, Jana Boiles, his son, Alvie Spurlock, his daughter, Topanga Fikes, all of Odessa, his mother Lola Tyler and step father, Sammy Tyler both of Odessa, his grandparents, Virginia Bryan and Martha Boiles, both of Midland, his sister, Cynthia Foster and husband, Roland of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his father, 2 grandfathers, 2 great-grandmothers, and 1 great-grandfather.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2005 at Foursquare Gospel Church (2900 Kermit Hwy).
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Randy Demetro officiating.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Lucille N. Castonguay

Crane - Lucille N. Castonguay, 79, died December 24, 2005 in Crane, TX.
She was born December 6, 1926 in Southbridge, MA to Joseph and Louise Eva Carrier. She married George E. Castonguay Jr. in 1944 and resided in Southbridge, Brookfield, and North Brookfield, MA. George and Lucille relocated to Roswell, NM in 1977. Odessa and Monahans, Texas became their home in the early 80’s before moving to West Palm Beach and Ocala, Florida, returning home to Odessa in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by seven children: Yvonne L. Pulchtopek of Odessa, Roland J. & Kathy Castonguay of Clearwater, FL, Cassie L. Christiansen of Cherryville, NC, Norma & George Connor of Spencer, MA, Doris E. Matthews and Howard Whitcomb of Brookfield, MA, Mona C. Castonguay and Richard Whitney of North Brookfield, MA, and Noel G. & Susan Castonguay of Odessa; nine grandchildren: Rockie & Joe LeBlanc of Odessa, Roland J. Castonguay Jr. of Worcester, MA, Shane P. Pulchtopek of Lake Worth, FL, Melissa & TJ Miller of Auburn, MA, Casey J. Matthews of Brookfield, MA, Ryan G. Connor of Spencer, MA, and Kevin G., Christopher N., and Kenneth J. Castonguay of Odessa; Four great-grandchildren: Matthew S. and Lindsay M. LeBlanc of Odessa, Tyler S. Pulchtopek of Lake Worth, FL, and Isabella J. Miller of Auburn, MA.
Lucille lived happily with her family near and far, treasuring family ties most of all. She will be missed tremendously by each and every one.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and caregivers of Nurses Unlimited, Infusion Plus, Star Care, Crane Nursing & Rehab Center and Home Hospice of Odessa.
