Betty Jann Proffitt
Odessa - Betty Jann Proffitt went to be with the Lord on December 28th, 2005, at Hospice House in Odessa, Texas.
Betty Jann was born to Elmer ‘Ned’ and Dorothy Lou Flowers on June 8th, 1941 in Dallas, Texas. She was a 1963 graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelors Degree in education. Betty taught at the fourth grade level in Houston for four years and then as a thirty-three year resident of Odessa, Texas she worked for State Farm Insurance, retiring in 1998 after 20 years of service. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to those in her community.
Betty is survived by one sister, Sue Ann Flowers, of Houston, Texas; her husband James T. Proffitt, of Odessa; one daughter, Stacy L. Davis and husband Robert; grandsons, Cody & Jarred, of Wylie, Texas; two sons, Stephen E. Proffitt and wife Lori; grandson, Grayson and granddaughter, Brooklyn of Odessa; Michael D. Proffitt and wife JaDona; grandsons, Zackary and Zane and granddaughter, Micaela of Odessa; and one step-daughter, Tambra Denise and granddaughters, Katlyn, Janelle, Rachel, and Jaclin, of Tom Ball, Texas; also, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Temple Baptist Church, in Odessa, Texas at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30th, 2005, with Reverend Kyle Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Billy Douglas Schneider
ODESSA - Billy Douglas Schneider, 63, of Odessa passed away Friday, December 23, 2005 at Seaton Hospital in Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Frank W. Wilson Chapel with Rev. Jerry Thorpe officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Billy Douglas Schneider was born July 22, 1942 in Malone, Texas to Robert Henry, Sr. and Bertha (Priebe) Schneider. Bill graduated from Hubbard High School in 1960. In 1964 he graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville with a degree in accounting. He married
Jamie Lytle on January 15, 1965 in Odessa.
Billy was the owner of The Overhead Door Company of Springdale, Arkansas and serviced all of the Northwest Arkansas area from 1972-1984, until moving to Odessa in 1984. He owned and operated B&R Oil Inc. in Odessa. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing, golfing and watching football with his grandson Matt. He was a loving and devoted father, who was the center of life for his wife and daughters, who loved him dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Jamie Schneider of Odessa; three daughters Kim Reese and husband Richard of Springdale, AR, Romy Schneider of Odessa, Amy Curtis and husband Sheldon of Cypress, TX; three sister-in-laws Betty Priest and husband Dan of Austin, Shirley Warren of Andrews/Amarillo, Lynn Tompkins of Cambridge, OH; two grandchildren, Megan Reese of Springdale, AR and Matthew Reese and wife Andrea of Fayetteville, AR, seven nieces and nephews Danielle, Jamysen, Ronalda, Lytle, Kevin, Stephen and Josh; brother Robert and Glenda Schneider and family, and sister Joyce Schneider of De Soto.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to Drs. J.B. and Raja Naidu and the staff of the Naidu Clinic for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to Dallas Easter Seals in honor of Romy, his daughter, who was the Easter Seal Poster Child in 1970.

Everette L. Tharp
Odessa - Everette Leroy (Lee) Tharp, 70, of Odessa, a retired musician, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at his residence after fighting one illness after another for a very lengthily period of time.
“He has fought the fight, finished the course, & kept the faith.”
He was born July 31, 1935 in San Jose, California to Evelyn I. Tharp, the first love of his life, and Ira L. Tharp. He was the oldest of 3 children.
He married
Billie Jo Baker on February 15, 1960 in California where they lived for 12 years and had two children. A son, Michael (Mike) and daughter, Kelley. The marriage ended and he married
Joey Crossland on July 2, 1972. They moved to Oklahoma where they lived 4 years before moving to Odessa.
Lee was a loving son, husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joey. Lee is survived by his son, Mike Tharp and wife LaWanda of Odessa and daughter, Kelley Bradshaw of Granbury and four grandchildren. Two sisters, Carole Gliozzo and Iris Oberst both of San Jose, California. He is also survived by 3 stepsons and their families of whom he shared a very special bond with. One niece and three nephews and many many friends.
He thoroughly enjoyed his last few years spending time with Mike and LaWanda, shooting bows together, going to 3-D shoots and going hunting, which was one of his last wishes fulfilled. And the last few months he had really enjoyed playing in a little band again with Martha Parvin and friends out at the Blue Bird Cafe in West Odessa.
Thanks to everyone who helped make his last days here on this earth so much fun and enjoyable. He was really having a blast.
A special thanks to his doctors at Naidu Clinic who have taken care of him over the last couple years. He thought very highly of you.
As per his last request, no services will be held in Odessa.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date in California.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered, “Come to Me.”

SNYDER - Flora Vida Gladson, 87, of San Marcos, a Sunday School teacher, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, in San Marcos.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bell-Cypert-Seal Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Amon Langston officiating. Burial will be at Snyder cemetery.
She was born in Scurry County.
