Brandon Lee Wayne Hunter

Odessa - Brandon Lee Wayne Hunter passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, in Odessa, Texas. He was born on March 23, 2005, in Odessa to Kinnard Jackson and Crystal Hunter of Odessa.
Brandon was preceded in death by Kinnard Dale Jackson II and Justin Lee Seegraves.
He is survived by his brother, Christopher Dale Scarborough; sisters, Christina Dawn Hunter, Kyla LeAnn Sutton, Staisha Ann Jackson and Brittany Diane Jackson; grandparents, Marcia Elaine Weesner and Dale Alen Seegrave of Odessa, Catherine Elizabeth Jackson of Odessa; aunts and uncles, Melody Dawn Weesner of Odessa, and Robert Greg Jackson of Texas City; and nephew, Wesley Roy Allen Weesner.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Byron McWilliams, of First Baptist Church of Odessa, officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Thomas Henry Parks

Alba - Funeral services for Thomas Henry Parks, 59, of Alba, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Broad Street Church of Christ, Mineola, with Frank Summers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, July 1, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Burial will be in Colony cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, Texas.
Mr. Parks passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. He was born December 20, 1945, in McKinney to the late Lynn B. Parks and Elwanda Parks Tilley. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lloyd Tilley. Mr. Parks grew up in Odessa but always had family ties in Alba. He attended college on a tennis scholarship and graduated with a teaching degree from East Texas State University in 1968. He taught English and coached tennis in various Texas schools, finishing his career in Van where he had state champion tennis teams and was named Teacher of the Year in 1998. He retired in May of 1999 and began his full-time devotion to church and show chickens. Tom was a deeply loved teacher and leader as a member in the Alba Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Williamson Parks of Alba; daughter and son-in-law, Dotty and Bill Thornton of Alba; grandsons, Zachary and Jaxson Thornton; a very special niece, Robin Creel and husband, Bob, of Alba; sister and brother-in-law, Smokey and Mike Gantt of Mineola; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Sandra Tilley of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Jeanie Craig, Walter B. Ragsdale, Mike Ragsdale, Staff Sgt. Stephen Maclin, Senior Airman Lyndi Carney, Senior Airman Cody Carney, Mark McClary, Mickey Haisten and Michael Ragsdale.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jake Creel, Leigh Walters and the Alba Church of Christ congregation.

‘Bobby’ Edwardo Arredondo

Odessa - “Bobby” Edwardo Arredondo, of Odessa, a charter cable supervisor, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at his residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
Survivors include parents, Erasmo Arredondo and Clara Arredondo; brothers, Joe Erasmo Arredondo of Apache Junction, Ariz., Ernie Arredondo of Memphis, Tenn., and Sammy Arredondo of Odessa; sisters, Mary Lopez, Sylvia Saucedo and Berlinda Lopez, all of Odessa, and Connie Polk of Arlington; aunts, uncles and a host of nieces and nephews.

Edward Nathaniel Carr

Edward Nathaniel Carr passed from this Earthly life on Monday, September 6, 2005, after a brief stay in the hospital.
Edward was born in Pecos, Texas, on December 30, 1930, to Thomas Nathaniel and Marie Elizabeth Lloyd Carr, and was baptized in the First Christian Church of Barstow. Although Edward lived most of his life in the west Texas area, he served honorably in the Korean War as a machinist’s mate in the United States Navy.
Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents and eldest brother, Thomas Warren Carr.
He is survived by his brother John Isaac Carr and sister-in-law Willeen Carr, niece Kathleen Carr Gardner and husband Dale, nephew Warren Robert Carr, 1st cousin Jim Ed Miller of Pecos, great niece Leora Marie Gardner and great nephew John Lloyd Gardner. Edward was greatly loved by his family and will be missed.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2005, at the Barstow cemetery.

Minnie Dicken

ODESSA - Minnie Dicken, 79 years of age, passed away on September 6, 2005 at the Hospice House in Odessa.
She was born on September 14, 1925 in Marathon, Texas to Dillard and Rachel Elizabeth Dodson. She was a resident of Crane for 33 years.
She married Thomas Jess Hardy Sr. on April 4, 1941 he passed away in August 1964, then she married H.D. “Sonny” Dicken on November 26, 1971, they divorced in 1981. She was a waitress for many years and was Baptist.
Mrs Dicken was preceded in death by her parents, daughter; Beverly Lucille Hardy, brother; Jim Dodson and sister; Myrtle Dodson Walters. She is survived by her son: Thomas Jess Hardy Jr. and wife Patricia of Jacksonville, Fl, grandchildren; Jeff, Courtney and Allison Hardy of Jacksonville, Fl. granddaughter; Melissa Hardy Townsend and husband James of Midland, great grandson; Daniel Sines of Crane.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 10, 2005 at 4:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Crane. Services by Odessa Funeral Home.

Kay Diller

Odessa - Kay Diller of Odessa peacefully departed this life Monday, September 5, 2005 in Odessa at the age of 59 years. She was born August 13, 1946 in Lamesa, Texas to the late Frances St. Patrick and Lottie Evelena Kirkland McKibben.
She graduated from Tahoka High School in 1964 and American Commercial College in 1991. Kay married Jimmy Diller in November of 1992. Kay moved to Odessa in 1991 and was a member of Temple Baptist in Odessa. She was preceded in death by brothers, Pat, Warren and Tommy McKibben; sisters, Opal Belt, Frances Matthews and Joyce Ware; nephews, Justin McKibben, Brody Bourland and Danny McKibben; and a stepdaughter, Kristy Bellinghausen.
She is survived by Jimmy Diller of Odessa; a daughter, Laurala Melton and husband Paul; stepdaughter, Tina Sevin of Midland; two grandchildren, Tyler Melton and LaShaa Lewallen;step grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Sevin, Tim and Zach Bellinghausen; three brothers, Don McKibben of Tahoka, Jerry McKibben of Lubbock and Joe McKibben of Cocoa Beach, FL; five sisters, Shirley Reece of Odessa, Patricia Williams of Lubbock, Mary Lynn Rowe of Henderson, Addie Pearl Triola of Houston and Ruby Griffith of Dallas; and several nephews and nieces.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Sweet Street Baptist Church in Tahoka with Rev. Lynn Long, officiating. Interment will follow in Tahoka cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Tahoka.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home in Tahoka, Wednesday, September 7, 2005 from 6-8PM.

Darwin Etheredge

ODESSA - Darwin Dwain Etheredge, 72 of Odessa passed away on Tuesday September 6, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital
Darwin was born in Lamesa, Texas on September 22, 1932 to Ed and Ethel Etheredge. His family moved to Odessa in 1945. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1951. He married Dorothy “Dot” Florene Phillips, the love of his life on December 23, 1951.
They celebrated 50 years of marriage just prior to her death. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1955. He was drafted into the army later that year. He was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany where he and Dot made several lifelong friendships
They returned to Odessa in 1957. Darwin began his career as a home builder with his father and brother. Ed Etheredge and Sons helped to develop many of the subdivisions in Odessa. Darwin enjoyed tennis and his friendships from a bridge club that began over 40 years ago. He was a member of the Odessa Country Club where every afternoon he played gin with his many friends in the Men’s Locker Room. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Odessa. He was a devoted husband and he loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ed and Ethel Etheredge and his wife Dot Etheredge. He is survived by his daughter Lane Carson of Odessa, his son Jay Etheredge and wife Judy of Austin, four grandchildren Adam Carson of Arlington, Whitney Carson of Odessa, Devon Etheredge of Austin and Jasen Lawson of Austin, his brother and sister in law Tiny and Laverne Etheredge of Odessa and sister in law Blanche McDaniel of Odessa.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors 4635 Oakwood Drive in Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2005 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2005 at First Baptist Church with Dr H. Bailey Stone and Pastor Byron McWilliams officiating.
Memorial may be directed to First Baptist Church Music Ministry.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

James “Butch”
Gary Hill

ODESSA - James “Butch” Gary Hill, 66, of Odessa, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born to James Lawrence and Zora Gertrude Hill on January 23, 1939 in Gholson, Texas. Beloved and respected member of our community, he was a retired business man and former president of the Optimist Club.
He was also involved with the Christmas in April, Odessa Board of Realtors and Odessa Apartment Association.
He is survived by his sisters Jeanine Clark, Rosemary McNatt, Pam Frady; his daughter Debra Owens; his son James Hill and his wife Charlotte; his son Danny Hill; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three nephews and one niece. His gentle nature and quick wit will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Memorials can be made to Home Hospice of Odessa or Odessa Optimist Club.

William Landa Jr.

ODESSA - William Landa Jr. was met at the doors of his Heavenly Kingdom by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love of his life of 31 years Barbara on September 4, 2005.
William at the age of 70 passed away at his Odessa residence. He was born May 29, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Penn to William G. and Marie Delaguila Landa Sr.
He was a Christian Catholic; a Charter Bus Driver and Owner of several Watering Holes.
He united in marriage to Barbara Keating April 29, 1966 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania,
We now can only feel the happiness of both of them finally being together; the way they truly were mean’t to be. He is also preceded in death by his Daughter: Kathy O’Donnell and Parents.
He is survived by his sons; Billy Landa of Odessa, “Chuckie” Landa and wife Mary of Pittsburgh Penn, Daughters; Sherri Ash and husband Mark of Dallas, Debbie Rees and husband Denny of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Brother; Ronald Landa of Pittsburgh Penn, 11 Grandchildren; several: Nieces; Nephews; and Lots of Friends.
We the Landa Family would like to take this time to express and extend a heartfelt embrace to each and every one of you for all your prayers, floral, food offerings and especially your presence with us during this most difficult time.
A special thanks to the staff at Odyssey Hospice for all the wonderful caring love given to our Father. May God Bless each and everyone of you abundantly. He will be greatly missed by all his children; grandchildren and all that truly Loved and knew him.
