George S. McGuire
ODESSA - George S. McGuire, 78, born in Marfa, Texas and raised in Fort Davis, Texas passed away on Tuesday September 6, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital.
George was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during World War II and received a World War II Victory Medal. He married
Leduvina Cordova on April 19, 1952, raised their children in Marfa, Texas and retired from the Big Bend National Park Service in 1987 after 33 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Leduvina McGuire, brothers; Edward, Abel, Cruz McGuire, sisters; Leonor McGuire, Maria Granado.
He is survived by his children; George Jr. and Lorina McGuire, Johnny and Rosie McGuire, Jose Angel and Imelda McGuire, all of Odessa, Elodia and Jose Romero, Angie and Andrew Ramirez, Rose and Timo Ybarra, Christan and Hector Perez all of Odessa, Rebecca and Sony Celya of Pecos. He is also survived by his brothers; Nano McGuire, Alfredo McGuire both of Odessa, sisters; Leonor Richardson of Odessa, Leonor Holgin of Fort Davis, also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A Prayer and Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday September 8, 2005 at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the church on Friday. Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon with Michael Alcunio officiating.
Burial will follow at the Marathon cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Celaya, Mark Selph, Anthony McGuire, Adam McGuire, Andrew Ramirez, Carlos Cortez, Timo Ybarra and Issac McGuire.
Ruthie Alexander
Odessa - Ruthie Alexander, 81, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2005, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Frank W. Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born on July 13, 1923, in Goldsboro, Texas, to King Kirby and Janie Beeson. She met Adair Alexander, and they were married
on December 31, 1941, in Novice, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1997. Ruthie was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Ruthie is survived by a son, Billy Alexander and wife, Karen, of Odessa; daughter, George Anna Smith of Odessa; five grandchildren, Chris Smith, Melissa Smith, Crystal Alexander, Tara Hail and Blake Alexander; and seven great-grandchildren, Aaron, Brady, Autumn, Warren, Zachary, Chance and Kimberly.

Jesse ‘Son’ Harris
Andrews - Funeral services for Jesse “Son” Harris, 81, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Doug Kello and Dr. Jeff Donnell officiating. Burial will follow at the Andrews North cemetery.
He died Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
He was born October 31, 1923, in Haleyville, Ala., to Jesse Garfield Harris and Marilda Beck Harris. He married
Irene Teague on November 22, 1941, in Haleyville. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He moved to Andrews in 1951 from Haleyville. He had worked for Charlie Carruth Trucking and Carl Ham Inc. He retired as regional manager from N.L. Well Service, which later became Andrews Production. He had also worked for Gillam Cable Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Harris of Andrews; three daughters, Barbara Steward and husband, D.J., of Mount Pleasant, Sandra King and husband, Kelly, of Monahans, and Michelle Sawyer and husband, Mitch, of Andrews; three sisters, Nettie Plummer of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Dean Wakefield of Haleyville, Ala., and Jessie Hulsey of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Teresa Baugh of Mount Pleasant, Tammie Blount and Denni Steward, both of Pittsburg, Texas, Jacqui Cosper and Jennifer Sullivan, both of Fort Stockton, and Kyle and Kevin Sawyer, both of Andrews; and seven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kody, and Kendall French, all of Mount Pleasant, Christian, Keldon, and Chloe Cosper, all of Fort Stockton, and Dalton Steward of Pittsburg, Texas.
Llewellyn R. Burge
Midland - Llewellyn R. Burge, born December 31, 1916, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Feb. 11, 2005.
He was born in Scranton, Pa., and moved to Johnson City, N.Y., at the age of three where he resided until 2003.
He was an Army Ranger during World War II and the recipient of The Bronze Star, after which he was employed as a contract auditor for the United States Department of Defense until he retired. He was an active member for 44 years at Boulevard United Methodist Church in Binghamton, N.Y. He and his wife moved to Midland in June 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of 68 years of marriage; daughter, Lorraine Ditson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; son, Dennis Burge and wife, Diana, of Midland; grandchildren, Elise Shaffer, Louie Ditson and Benjamin Ditson, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Matthew Burge, Luca Taylor and Lee Taylor, all of Midland; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 4501 Thomason Drive, Midland, with the Rev. Billy Everette officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Epimenia Herrera
Odessa - Mass for Epimenia Herrera, 79, of Odessa will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joeseph’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Uecker officiating.
Internment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.
Mrs. Herrera died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at The Hospice House.
She was born in Colorado. She was a homemaker and a Christian Catholic.
Survivors include her sons, Rodolfo “Rudy” Herrera and Carlos Herrera, both of Odessa; daughter, Sophia Rodriguez of Odessa; brothers, Bernardo Herrera of Muleshoe, Ramon Herrera of Presidio and Benito Herrera of Acuna, Mexico; sister, Bernarda Herrera of Redford; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Piedad Rodriguez, Ramon Herrera, Carlos Herrera, Urbano Herrera, Francisco Chavez, Adrian Herrera, Ramon Herrera Jr. and Emilio Herrera.
Jim McCrary
Odessa - Jim McCrary, 66, of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Bexar County Methodist Heart Hospital in San Antonio.
Mr. McCrary was born Feb. 14, 1938, in Lorenzo to Joseph and Elsie McCrary. He married
Shirley Harrison Pearce July 7, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mr. McCrary moved from Odessa in 1995 to Ruidoso, N.M., where he lived nine years before moving to Kerrville in May 2003. He was District Gas Measurement Coordinator for Arco Oil & Gas Co. He retired Jan. 31, 1993, after 36 years of service. Before he moved from Odessa he played in the orchestra at Temple Baptist Church and was also active in music at his church in Ruidoso. He had played in a band, “The Sessions,” that traveled with the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang. He was a member and past president of the Measurement Society and former Union Representative for Arco Oil & Gas Co. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Kerrville. He was a real handy man and did a lot of woodwork and welding.
He is survived by his wife Shirley McCrary of Kerrville; sons, Mike McCrary and wife, Sandra, of Greenwood, and Mitch McCrary of El Paso; daughters, Debra Roy and husband, DeWayne, of Euless, Cynthia Elder and husband, Barry, of Gainesville; aunt, Billie Faglie and husband, Raymond, of Weatherford; 10 grandchildren, Clinton McCrary, Morgan, Bryant and Alex Roy, Channing and Chase Ward, Georgia Elder, Lindsey and Leslie Taylor and Krystal Cusatis; and one great-grandson, Andrew Cusatis.
There will be a visitation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church Youth Group.

Larry Omar Redman
Odessa - Larry Omar Redman, 55, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at his residence.
He was born May 2, 1949, in Odessa to Orville Lee and Edith Redman. He was a Christian.
Mr. Redman is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Redman of Odessa; nephew, Ricky Redman Sr.; great-nephews, Ricky Redman Jr. and Rowdy Redman; and dear friend, Toby Pendleton.
Graveside services were Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at RoseHill cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Services are by Odessa Funeral Home.
Doris L. Speed
Rankin - Doris L. Speed was born in Albuquerque, N.M., on Jan. 21, 1922, and died on Feb. 12, 2005, at the age of 83.
She was the daughter of Sydney B. and Geneva Cooper Ramsey. Following Geneva’s death, when Doris was 9 years old, Grace Sherrard Ramsey became her second mother. She was raised in McCamey from 1929 to 1941; where her dad owned and operated Ramsey Welding & Boiler Works and the Bluebonnet Cafe. She graduated from McCamey High School in 1940. She attended Business College in San Angelo. She married
Jesse Adams in 1941 in Brownwood. The couple had two boys, Jimmy E. Adams and wife, Lucy, of Bogue Chito, Miss., and William “Bill” R. Adams and wife, Pat, of Ackworth, Ga.
Doris and Jesse parted ways after several years of marriage and Doris married
E.L. Speed in 1950 in Lovington, N.M. Three children were born to that union, Edward L. Speed, now deceased, Brenda S. Clinton and husband, Terry, of Midland, and Alan D. Speed and wife, Beth, of Jal, N.M. Doris was proud of her 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren
Doris and family moved to Rankin in 1960, and she lived there for 34 years. Doris owned and operated Speed’s Cafe in Rankin, until it was destroyed by fire in 1968. Doris was County Treasurer of Upton County for 20 years. She moved to Jal in 1994. Doris was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jal, N.M. She was a lifetime member of Zeta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and Rebekah Lodge. She was a crusade chairman for the Cancer Society and a volunteer member for the West Texas Opportunities. She taught Sunday School for 38 years. When asked what a mother’s best gift to her children was, Doris said, “It’s giving her children knowledge of Christ, and teaching them to love a living God.” Doris is also survived by a sister, Lorriane Jenkins of San Angelo; and a brother William Wheeler of Benton, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward Lynn Speed; and brother, James C. Ramsey.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Allison Clinton, Andrew Clinton, Benjamin Speed, Angela Speed, David Speed and Deacon Mike Pierce.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church, Odus Kelley, Bobby Kimball, W.M. Kemp, Theo Essman, Dave McFadden, and John Allen.
Services will be at 10 a.m. (Mountain Time) Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Jal, N.M. with intermit at Rankin cemetery at 4 p.m. (Central time) in Rankin. Her son, Alan D. Speed and son-in-love Terry L. Clinton will officiate.

Troy Lou Munn
Odessa - Troy Lou Munn, 89, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005.
A Graveside service was held at 7 p.m. at Evergreen cemetery in Stanton on Friday, July 15, 2005.
A Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2005, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Odessa with the Rev. Mark Scott, pastor of Highland United Methodist Church in Odessa, officiating.
She was born on Sept. 1, 1915, to John and Jennie (Allison) Blocker in Stanton. She was reared in Martin County and attended school in the Courtney Community. Troy married
W.H. Munn on Dec. 16, 1933, in Big Spring. They lived in Andrews for 40 years and for the last ten years, they made their home in Odessa. Troy was a lifelong Methodist. She was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church of Odessa at the time of her death. She was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Association and a longtime member of the Rebecka Lodge. She was a loving mother and wife, whose family and church always came first.
Survivors include her husband, W. H. Munn; three daughters, Helen Cook of Odessa, Mary Steed of Midland, and Ruth Ann Page and her husband, Dennis, of Midland; three sons, Pat Munn and his wife, Jan, of Odessa, Mike Munn and his wife, Sue, of Midland, and Jimmy Munn and his wife, Suzan, of Big Spring; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Sadler of Odessa; a brother, John Blocker Jr. and his wife, Betty Jo, of Hobbs, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
