Emma Laura Harvard
Corsicana - Emma Laura Harvard, 80, slipped from this world into God’s heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in Corsicana, Texas.
Emma was born June 1, 1925 in Littlefield, Texas to Thomas Floyd and Bertha Pyeatt. the ninth of ten children. She grew up in New Mexico and, responding to a family medical crisis, moved to Kermit in 1948. She met and later married
Sam Harvard in Kermit on September 8, 1950. There they raised their two daughters and owned and operated Harvard Construction Company where Emma served as the bookkeeper for many years. They retired to Corsicana in 1987.
Emma was the quintessential family matriarch and was the consummate wife, mother, and grandmother. She was lovingly adored by her husband, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She devoted her life to her family and her faith. Emma was a member of First Baptist Church in Corsicana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Benton Pyeatt, T.F. Pyeatt and Richard Pyeatt; and sisters, Ethel Simmons, Margarette Carney, Leola Watson, Olene Holly, Gladys Howell and Estelle Mullins.
Survivors include her husband, Sam, who was the love of her life; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and John Sizemore of Nocona and Susie and Gary Gregory of Frisco; grandchildren, Suzann Sizemore of Providence Village, Julie Davis and husband Jarret of Nocona, Rebecca Sizemore of Nocona, Laura Gregory of Addison, April Gregory of Frisco and Brooks Gregory of Frisco, great-grandchildren, Jase Davis and Bodie Davis of Nocona.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with the Rev. B.F. Risinger Jr. and Brother Bill Honea officiating. Interment followed at Hopewell cemetery in Navarro County.
Pallbearers were nephews Lanny Howell, Fred Howell, Harper Simmons, Benton Holly, Dickey Pyeatt, Bill Mitchell, David Smith, Bo Simmons and George Seales. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Bronstad, Joe Glass, Bob Taylor, Larry Talbert, Bunk Bottoms, Jimmy Dee Coker and Roy French.
Nelda Bishop
KERMIT - Nelda Bishop, 73, died Saturday April 8, 2006 in Aztec, New Mexico.
Born in Wink, she had lived in both Kermit and Wink all of her life.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, and was a homemaker.
Nelda married
Dale Bishop July 3, 1953 in Kermit. He preceded her in death October 17, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a grandson Corey Beaty, who passed away July 21, 2002.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; son Jim Bishop and his wife Lisa of Pueblo, Colo.; daughters, Debbie Bishop of Lago Vista, TX., Jeana Beaty and her husband Doug of Aztec, NM.; brother Doyle Carter and his wife Nelda of Breckenridge, TX., and grandchildren; Tonya Banker, Charlie Banker, Travis Beaty, Justin Bishop, and Shelly Bishop.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 1:00 pm in the Kermit cemetery with the Reverend Henry O. Freund officiating.
Services have been entrusted to Martinez-Smith & Cooper Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Kermit.
Fern Dodson
MONAHANS - Fern Dodson was born in Malvern, AR to Louie and Buelah Pierce on July 26, 1923.
She married
Randolph R. Dodson in 1942 at the First Baptist Church in Malvern. Fern and her family moved to Pyote in 1954. She served as Head Librarian of the Ward Co. Library for 25 years, until she retired in 1988.
Fern passed away April 8, 2006 in Odessa. She is proceeded in death by her husband, 1 sister, Mary Thomas; 3 brothers, Bill, Terry and Charles; 2 sons, Stephen and Russell.
She was survived by 1 brother Louie Jr. of Magnolia, AR. 1 sister Florence May of Idaho; 2 daughters, Pat and husband Gene McWhorter of Odessa, Shelia and husband Douglas Maxey of Monahans, 2 sons Robert of Malvern, Ar, and Douglas and wife Vicki of Carter Lake, IA. 5 grandchildren, Andrea Martin and Susan Slaton of Odessa, Shawn Dodson of Omaha, NE, Stephen Bolin of Mobile, AL and Stephanie Craft of Round Rock, Tx., and 7 great grand children.
Viewing will be at the Harkey Family Funeral Services in Monahans, with services at 10 AM April 11 at the First Baptist Church in Pyote, with burial at the Pyote cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hospice House, especially Ducky, Shirley, and Betty for the support and care for our mother.

Julieta Gonzalez
ODESSA - Julieta Gonzalez, 72 years of age, passed away April 9, 2006 at her residence in Odessa.
She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico and was a homemaker.
Funeral Services will be held today, April 11, 2006, at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Uecker officiating.
She is survived by her son, Jesus Manuel Campos Gonzalez and wife Ana A. Campos of Round Rock, Texas, daughters, Maria Teresa Campos of Odessa, and Alma Rosa Baeza and husband Bernardo Baeza of Marfa, Texas, Sister Dora Hernandez of Marfa, and grandchildren, Michelle Campos, Paul Campos, Alberto Campos and Braulio Campos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Campos Gomez, and her brother Armando Medina.
Services are under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
Eunice (Boots) Holt
Odessa - Eunice “Boots” Holt, age 88, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the Hospice House.
She was born October 25, 1917 to Joseph and Una Wynn in Ida, Louisiana, and was the youngest of thirteen children, all who have preceded her in death.
Boots married
J.P. Wall on July 1, 1938 in Vivian, LA. Together they had three children. They moved to Odessa in 1944, where they raised their family. Alongside her husband she worked hard to always see that their children’s needs were met. She worked for First State Bank, later Electric Service and Supply, and Sid Richardson Carbon Plant. She was a quiet, soft-spoken woman and instilled in her children a sense of responsibility, commitment and strong principles.
Boots was a Christian and lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, where she and her family were active participants.
Her husband J.P. died in April 1971. Five years later she married
E. R. “Slim” Holt. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Wall & wife Betty of Austin, TX; daughters, Vicki Woods & husband Rockie of Allen, TX, and Marilyn Kindel of Odessa, daughter-in-law, Jackie Wall of Plano, six grandchildren, Chris & Whitney Wall of Plano, Grant Woods of Allen, Melissa Kindel of Midland, Melanie Bedrick & husband Phillip and Marnie Davis & husband Larry all of Odessa. and four great-grandchildren, Benjamen Bedrick & wife Kim, Trent & Troy Davis all of Odessa and Stephanie Bedrick of San Antonio.
There will be a visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Johnny Young officiating.

Rosa Faye’Brown’ Marshall
Kermit - Rosa Faye Marshall, age 81, of Kermit, passed away Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Hospice House in Odessa. Mrs. Marshall was born March 23, 1925 in Gatesville, TX to the late Michael Caddo and Mary Jane (Miller) Brown. She was a resident of Kermit for 40 Years having moved here from Crane, TX in 1965. Mrs. Marshall married
Lawrence L. “Turk” Marshall on April 17, 1941 in Monahans, TX., and they had 62 wonderful years together before Turks’ passing on March 5, 2003. Rose was a Tax Assessor/Collector for the City of Kermit for 25 years, and an active member of Belvue Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are one son: Jack Marshall and wife Clara of Kermit, two daughters: Rosie Lee Henry of Kermit and Mary Ellen Mason and husband Charles of Andrews, TX; 11 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.
Funeral services for Rose will be 2 pm Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit with Bro. Danny Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will be at Kermit cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry Mason, Tim Mason, Tommy Mason, Lonny Marshall, Marshall Carrell, Bradley Castleman, Jackie Hallmark, Tim Kinnear, and Kevin Kinnear.

Jamia Darlyne Mitchell Jernigan
SAN ANGELO - On April 7, 2006 our precious Savior took our loved one home. Jamia Darlyne (Mitchell) Jernigan was born on July 11th, 1947 in Odessa, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, John of the home; two sons, Michael Samarripa and David Samarripa, both of Houston, TX; one sister, Judy Stewart of Odessa, Tx; six grandchildren; Mitchell, Danessa, Paul, Kristen, Whitney, all of Houston and Lina of Odessa; two nieces, Naomi Simons of San Angelo and Misty Dawn Emig of El Paso, Tx.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mitch Mitchell; mother, Mary Derrick; and father, Jim Mitchell.
She was a dedicated and loved employee of JC Penney’s for over 10 years. Jamia will be greatly missed by her family and beloved friends. We will remember her beautiful smile, wonderful laughter, and those dazzling heaven-blue eyes.
The family wants to express their love and appreciation to Home Hospice of Odessa for their gentle care of Jamia. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to that organization.
She will be buried at Fairmount cemetery in San Angelo, TX. next to her dear mother. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Shaffer Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX., is handling all arrangements.

B.J. ‘Scotty’ Scott
Fort Worth - B.J. “Scotty” Scott, 79, of Fort Worth formerly of Odessa a retired field coordinator for Phillips 66, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at his residence.
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home in Fort Worth.
Survivors: Wife, Irene; son, Ben; daughters, Debbie, Jackie and Barbie; seven grandchildren, and extended family.
Patsy Jean Shaw
ODESSA - Patsy Jean Shaw was born on May 8, 1945 to John Douglas and Ferris Pyrle Smith in Winters, Texas.
Pat was the fourth of six children, two boys and four girls.
All of her life Pat relied on Jesus to get her through. In February of 1967 she met the man who would take care of her for the rest of her life.
She married
Chuck on June 20 of that same year and shared over thirty-eight wonderful years with him. Pat was told at a young age that she would never have children, but on April 15, 1970 the first of two miracles was born, the second came on March 1, 1972. As Pat’s children grew so did her family, not a child entered her life without becoming her own.
Pat saw almost every mile of these great United States as she traveled them with her family. She loved the wide-open spaces of God’s greatest creation.
In 1999 Pat took on her dream job at Mike’s Garden Center where she became a Master Gardener and a Texas Certified Nursery Professional. She taught hundreds of children through Junior Master Gardeners and each of them was like her own. Pat will be sorely missed. Each time you step into your garden, please remember her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Donny Smith, granddaughter, Carriaghe Anne and great grandson, Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck Shaw of Odessa, daughters, Melissia Maurine Bohnet of Evansville, WY., Jennifer Joanne Shaw of Odessa, mother-in-law, Fern Shaw of Flushing, MI., brother, Jerry Douglas Smith of Amarillo, sisters, Nelda June Wilcox of Amarillo, Billey Edine Krahn and Doris Gayle Wooten both of Vega, TX., (5) grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Bohnet of Las Vegas, NV., Logan Nathaneal Shaw, Michael McKenzie Banks and Brionna Marie Banks all of Evansville, Wy., and Megan Amber Shaw of Shertz, TX., (2) great-grandchildren: Alexis and Isaiah.
Pat passed peacefully into the open arms of her loving Savior at 11:55 p.m. April 8, 2006 after a nine-month battle with cancer.
Pat’s family would like to invite you to join them in a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron McWilliams officiating. Please out of respect for her, ties and suits are prohibited. Please don your garden attire. Pat requested that her remains be studied in order to further fight cancer. Her last prayer was for all of the children that they would never suffer as she did.

ODESSA - Pauline M. “Momo” Ponce was met by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Love of Her Life her husband Robert Ponce who preceded her in death February 15, 2003.
Pauline, 65, of Odessa, surrounded by her Loving Family passed away Saturday April 8, 2006 at her residence. She was born January 12, 1941 in New Gulf, Texas to Tomas Maldonado and Ramona Cuestas.
She married
Robert Ponce in Corpus Christi, Texas May 5, 1965. She was a Christian Catholic and a retired Opthamology Tech. She is also preceded in death by her Parents: Tomas and Ramona Maldonado Sr., Brother: Tomas Maldonado Jr., Sisters: Juanita Ramos, and Estefana Ramos.
