Jerry Wayne Kenyon
EL PASO - Jerry Wayne Kenyon, longtime resident of El Paso, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 following an extended illness.
Born in Sayre, Oklahoma, October 27, 1949, Jerry grew up in Hobbs, NM before moving to Odessa, Texas and finally to Notrees, Texas in 1962. There he attended Crockett Junior High and Odessa High School where he graduated in 1967.
Jerry settled in El Paso where he met and married
Beebee to whom he was married
for almost 25 years until her death in December of 2000. Jerry excelled as a diesel mechanic, shop foreman, and service manager. His accomplishments were recognized by Ford Motor Co., among others, from whom he received many awards over the years. His most enduring legacy in his work was the many young men he helped train to be competent, hard working mechanics and managers while practicing his craft.
Jerry made a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ at Castle Avenue Baptist church in Hobbs, NM at the age of 9.
Although Jerry and Beebee never had their own children, all of his nieces and nephews were truly his. Jerry was preceded in death by his dear wife and his dad, Alvin Kenyon. He is survived by his mother, Ima Kenyon of Odessa; brother Clifford of Ardmore, OK; brother Dean of Canton, GA; brother Verl of Odessa; brother Barry of Roby, Tx.; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge at the Masonic cemetery in El Paso, TX at 2:00 p.m. on February 6, 2006.
