John Michael Cherrybone Jr.
Odessa - John Michael Cherrybone Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 28, 2006. John was born on March 17, 1937 in Flushing, NY to John Michael Cherrybone Sr. and Violet Cherrybone, who have preceded him in death. Also preceding John in death was his sister, Edith Ann Cherrybone, and his beloved son and endeared Rugby Buddy, David Phillips Cherrybone. His memory will be Cherished by those left behind: His wife, best friend, and soul mate, Connie Lee Cherrybone, his children, John Cherrybone III, Jim Cherrybone and Candice Cherrybone-White, step-children, Leslie Lockett, Brian Cook and Jill Jantz, grandchildren, Jamie, John IV, Boone, Ben, Jeremiah, Annabella Rose, Ryan, Aaron, Sarah, Amanda, Meagan, Katie, Matthew and Joshua and one great-grandchild.
John was an avid sports fan and his favorite sport was rugby. His favorite rugby team was The Woodlands Rugby Club, which he co-founded. John relished the times that he could sit around and share with others his boyhood memories of growing up on Long Island. John was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Odessa. He was a dear friend to many with a great capacity to love. In fact, John’s last words were, “Love…Love…Love.”

Midland - Kenneth Dale Clark, of Midland, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 2, 2006.
Kenneth was born April 25, 1933 to Zollie Tolbert Clark and Iva Chleo Clark in DeKalb, Texas.
Kenneth graduated from DeKalb High School in 1952 and married
Betty Helen Maxey of DeKalb, Texas. He was self-employed since 1959. His ventures included many aspects of the petroleum industry, centering around oilfield pipe and equipment sales. His interests also included farming and ranching.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1976, his mother in 1990, and his brother, Zollie Willard (Z.W.) Clark in 2004.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Helen Maxey Clark of Midland, TX; and their three daughters, Kathy Kay Popham and her son, Dane Jetty of Fort Worth, TX; Sherl Lea Miggins and her husband, Larry, and their two children, Thomas and Laura Miggins, all of Houston, TX; and Regina Kuethe and her husband Kenneth William, and their son, Justin, all of Midland, TX; sister, Amelia Clark Biard and her husband, Bob, of Richardson, TX; and sister-in-law, Martha Smith and her husband, Dennis, of DeKalb, TX.
Kenneth’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Jan Otho, Josie Martinez, Cindy Hernandez, and other caregivers for the compassionate care that he received.

Thurston E. Dean, M.D.
Midland - Thurston E. Dean, M.D., of Midland, died Sunday, April 30, 2006.
Dr. Dean was born January 26, 1929, in Madisonville, Texas, where he graduated salutatorian of his high school in 1946. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Dean obtained his medical degree in 1953 from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. His orthopedic training was interrupted by two years of service in the U.S. Air Force in Biloxi, Mississippi, being honorably discharged with the rank of captain. After completing his residency, Dr. Dean moved to Midland in 1960 and opened his orthopedic practice. He received numerous honors associated with an exceptional medical career, numbering among his most cherished was the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas High School Coaches Association for his contributions to high school athletics.
Dr. Dean was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Jean.
Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Mary; his six children, Dr. Ted Dean and his wife Rita, Dr. Paul Dean and his wife Gayle, Dr. John Dean and his wife Deborah, Kathleen Williams and her husband Andy, Dr. Brad Dean and his wife Shan, and Christopher Dean and his wife Holley; step-daughters, Lynn Hall and her husband Lynn, and Karen Clifton and her husband Tom; seventeen grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Robert ‘R.L’ Luther Malone Sr.
Haskell - Robert “R.L” Luther Malone, Sr., 70, of Plano, formerly of Rule, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday May 3, 2006 at Rule cemetery in Rule, Texas with Bro. Dub Jenkins officiating, under the direction of Holden McCauley Funeral Home of Haskell. R.L. was born October 12, 1935 above the post office in Rule, Texas, to Opal and C.G. Malone. He was the oldest of 10 children. On March 15, 1960 he married
Ruthie Lorene Crosson in Haskell, Texas, they were married
28 years when she died in 1988. R.L. served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War and earned a silver star. He fought in a number of battles when not playing pinochle. Following service as a Marine, he joined the U.S. Army. He served in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters. Randall Lane Moon
Odessa - Randall Lane Moon, 51, passed away on April 26th, 2006 at his home in Midland, Texas, after fighting a long illness. Mr. Moon was born in Winters, Texas on September 20th, 1954 to J.B. Moon and Evie Lorell Griffen. He went to rest with his mother Evie and brother Hilton Moon. Mr. Moon served in the military and supported his family by working in the oilfield. His interests include having great faith in the Lord, spending time with his family and pets, disc golf, movies, and loved the outdoors; he could brighten a room with his great sense of humor.
Mr. Moon is survived by his wife of 25 years, Darla Ann Moon, three daughters, Crystal Dove Alderete, Sherry Ann Moon, and Amanda Lashawn Fouchier and one son, Roy Don Moon, son-in-law Daniel Andrew Alderete, two dearly beloved grandchildren, Aaliyah Jazmin Alderete, and Jaeden Trey Moon, one brother, Gary Moon, sister, Melissa Brookshire and brother-in-law, Steve Brookshire, father-in-law, Donald Stolte, sister-in-law, Dinah Lynn Bounds, nieces include Danielle and Destiny Bounds, Sarah Harrison, Leslie Grillo, Misty Moon, nephews, Brian Moon and E.J. Le Roy Sprayberry
Odessa - Le Roy Sprayberry was born on June 5, 1914 in Goodwater, Alabama. He left this world for a better place on April 28, 2006 just short of his 92nd birthday.
Le Roy married
Amanda Smith in Rising Star, Texas, on November 26, 1936. Amanda predeceased him on November 5, 1959. He then married
Estelle Partain on May 14, 1961. She predeceased him on February 8, 2002.
He retired from Conoco Oil Company in 1976. That is when his real joy began. He started attending the livestock auction in Midland, Texas every Tuesday and trading livestock.
He and his wife, Estelle loved opening up their farm to the families of Highland United Methodist Church for the annual Easter egg hunt. He and first wife, Amanda, were in on the building of Highland United Methodist Church in its present location.
Le Roy was awarded the Channel 7 “Red Plate Award” in recognition of his community service of allowing school children to take field trips to his farm. By coming to his farm they were able to see first hand the animals, fruit and vegetables that were grown there.
He was proud of the high honor of being a 32nd degree Mason. He was also very proud of the contribution that he was able to make during World War II by building fighter planes at the North American plant in Grand Prairie, Texas.
He passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona at the group home where he had resided for the past three years. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2006 at Highland United Methodist Church followed by Masonic graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local Hospice.
Le Roy is survived by one son and two daughters; Charles Sprayberry of Midland, Texas, Lynne Anderson of Mesa, Arizona and Pamala Houghton of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chuck Bailey, Cliff Bailey, Caron Close, Mike Sprayberry, Tadd Sprayberry, Justin Schneider and Amanda Mayer and 17 great-grandchildren.
We would all like to say “Thank you”, Le Roy for sharing your life with us. You will be missed and fondly remembered.

Henry Yamada
Odessa - Henry Yamada went home to be with Jesus April 30,2006. After a brief stay at Hospice House in Odessa, TX. Henry was retired from a career in the Oil Business in Sadia Arabia. He was well traveled all over the world. He was born in Angoyse City, Japan June 22, 1923 and came to America at age 6.
Henry served in the Intelligence Unit of the U.S. Army during WW II. His parents, brother and sister have preceded him in death. Although he never married
, Henry leaves behind many friends The World Over. Ronnie and Joana Neal of Odessa, TX, Marie Beuter of Odessa, TX, and Cindy Tanzillo of La Grange Park, Illinois. Burial will be private.
Hollis ‘Dale’ Bryan Sr.
Odessa - Services for Dale Bryan will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 3rd in the chapel at Sunset Funeral Home, Odessa. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Reverend Clydel Chapman and Jeff Chapman will officiate. Informal visitation will be held Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006.
Dale, surrounded by his loving family, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, April 30th, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born March 21st, 1942 in Abilene, Texas to Burt and Jewell Bryan. He united in marriage to Mary Queen December 7th, 1963 in Odessa, Texas.
Dale was a skilled craftsman in automotive and woodworking. He owned and operated, along with his son and wife, Dale’s Alignment and Brake Service. He was a 33rd degree Mason at the Fellowship Masonic Lodge 1385. Dale enjoyed restoring classic automobiles, boating, camping and gathering with his many friends and family. His most precious time was spent with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Burt Bryan; brother, Bill Bryan; and sister, Justine Smith.
Dale is survived by his wife, Mary Bryan; son, Dale Jr. and wife Jamie; daughter, Lacritia and husband Chris Phillips; grandchildren, Natosha and husband Jimmy Breeding; Trey Bryan; Ashton and Dustin Phillips and great-grandson Jimmy Breeding III and one unborn great-grandchild. His mother, Jewell Cude; brothers, Don of Odessa, Texas; Dyrell of Tyler, Texas; Benny and Buddy of Abilene, Texas; sisters, Betty Sparks of Deer Park, Texas; Barbara Bryan and Debra Hanson of Abilene, Texas and Margaret of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
The Pallbearers are Carl McMillan, Chuck Houston, Curtis Richardson, Bruce Evans, Mike Couch and Sam Roberts.

Mrs. Caddell was born May 21, 1918, in Hico, Texas, to Rev. John and Zilphia Taylor Denton. She married
Curtis Macon Caddell, Nov. 25, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Survivors: Husband, Macon Caddell of Granbury; sons, Michael Caddell and wife, Day Nell, of McKinney, Len Caddell and wife, Patty, of Granbury; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Lelia Hazlett of Cleburne.

Wilbur W. Hayse
Midland - Wilbur W. Hayse, of Midland, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006 at his home under the care of Home Hospice.
He was born to Frank and Lillie Hayse on November 22, 1908. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married
Rilla Hicks in 1945 in Kermit, Texas. He worked for EI Paso Natural Gas Co. for 33 years. On his retirement they moved to Midland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rilla, and eleven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his five children: Janet Hayse, Rita Hayse, Mary Hayse, Jimmy Hayse, all of Midland, Wilbur Ray Hayse & wife Georgia of Odessa, and two grandsons, Brandon Hayse of Odessa, and Ryan Hayse of Lubbock; and a special daughter, his wife’s sister whom he helped raise, Jane Ann Muller and her husband Ray, of Amherst, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial reception will follow at the Fellowship Hall of Fairmount Park Church of Christ, 3813 N. Midland Drive. Vela ‘Eve’ Laughlin
Odessa - Vela “Eve” Laughlin, 77 of Odessa, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2006. Eve was born on December 18, 1928 in Post Oak, Texas to Thomas and Edith Scarber.
Eve was Valedictorian of her high school. She attended Decatur Baptist College where she studied music. She played piano for many Baptist Churches, including Post Oak Baptist, First Baptist Church in Kermit, Texas, and Sunset Heights Baptist Church in Odessa where she was a member.
Eve was a bookkeeper for Odessa Plumbing for approximately 12 years, and Cook Tile Company for approximately 8 years. She was also the secretary for Clark Engineering for several years. She had been retired for nine years.
Eve is survived by her husband Jerry of 34 years; two daughters Karen OH of Lubbock and Sharon Griffith of Odessa; Two sons-in-law Kent OH and Gary Griffith; Sister Vesta Antoinello of Arlington and Five grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Nick Gates officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday May 2, 2006 at Sunset memorial Funeral Home.
