Odessa - Mack Douglas Reeves 63 of Odessa passed away July 31, 2006 at his residence in Odessa. He was born August 28, 1942 in Lorraine, Texas to parents J.D. Reeves and Rita Bell Lee Reeves. He married
Virginia Sue Fisher on March 9, 1966 and was a foreman in the construction Business for 38 yrs.
Visitation will be held today from 9 AM to 10 PM at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Martinez-Smith with Jack Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Sue Reeves of Odessa, sons, Rodney E. Pourner of Amarillo, TX and Douglas C. Reeves of Odessa, daughter, Andria L. Maggio of Odessa, mother, Rita Reeves, brothers, Charles S. Reeves of Odessa, Jack Reeves, Jimmy Reeves, Johnny Reeves, Jerry Reeves, J.D. Reeves and Jeffrey Reeves, all of Des Moines, Iowa; sisters, Glenda Bishop, Jennie Moses and Audrey Wilkerson all of Odessa. Jarbo Wright
Kermit - Jarvis Addison (Jarbo) Wright, 87, took his final adventurous journey when he left this world for his heavenly home on Monday, July 31, 2006 at his residence. Jarbo was born April 6, 1919 in Palmer, Texas to James Aron and Ozna Wright. His family moved to Lubbock when he was a young boy. He graduated from Lubbock High School. He attended and played football for Texas Tech University.
Jarbo was always a proud patriotic American. He enlisted in the Army Airborne on April 8, 1942 and served as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne in World War II. He was on the first plane to land at Kenda Air Field in Yokohoma, Japan — three days before the peace treaty was signed on the USS Missouri in 1945. At the time of his honorary discharge, Jarbo held the rank of Staff Sergeant. After the war, Jarbo worked for Permian Mud Service and later Dresser Magcobar as a Mud Engineer in the oil fields of West Texas for 30+ years until he retired in 1983.
He married
Donaldeen (Donnie) Wright in Hobbs, NM. Jarbo was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a 52-year member of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Winkler County degree team that went to El Paso for several years. He was a Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star. Jarbo was a member of First Baptist Church in Kermit. He was a Lifetime Charter Member of the National WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Jarbo and Donnie have always been avid Cowboy football fans and over the years they made many trips to Texas Stadium to see their Cowboys play. Jarbo was an avid fisherman and whittler. After his retirement he and Donnie spent 15 summers on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. They made many lifelong friends while in Canada. Jarbo and Donnie also were able to cruise to Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands and through the Panama Canal. Later they spent the summers in South Fork, Colorado. Since 1983, Jarbo was a member of the Airstreams West Texas Unit Region 9 of the Wally Bynam Caravan Club International.
Jarbo was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Huddleston and Frank Wright. His is survived by his loving wife, Donnie of Kermit; two sons, Jarvis Wright and wife, Jan of San Angelo, James Wright and wife, Kathy of Coleman and three daughters, Donna Rushing and husband, Peter of Farmington, NM, Jonnie Carrell and husband, Don of Jal, NM, and Mary Ann Stanley of Granbury. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Chris Rushing of Midland, Dean Rushing of Las Vegas, NV, Amber Carrell and Wesley Carrell of Odessa, Carie Beaty of Huntsville, Jill Wright of Kingsland, Ami Depew of Hobbs, NM and Don Carrell of Post, TX; five great-grandchildren; and two beloved sisters-in-law, Jo Johnson and Edna Weger. He is also survived by two men that Jarbo and Donnie have always treated as sons, Rodney Hayes and James Burns, both of Kermit.
Visitation will be 7 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Kermit at 2 pm Thursday, August 3, 2006 with the Reverend Dudley Mullins and the Reverend J.R. Manning officiating. Burial will immediately follow services at Kermit cemetery with Masonic services. Pallbearers will be Chris Rushing, Dean Rushing, James Burns, David Brown, Peter Rushing, and Don Carrell. Honorary Pallbearers are all Masons, Walter Anderson, Ken Mays, Joe Ethridge, Mike Michelson, the late Barnie Jones of Odessa and the late Bill Carnie of Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada.

ODESSA — Earnest Carr, 82, of Odessa, a retired laborer, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at his residence.

He was born in Smithville.

ODESSA — Jimmy H. Chandler, 55, of Odessa, owner of Chandler Landscaping, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mark Woodruff and Alan Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Gatesville and moved to Odessa in 1950.

ANDREWS — R.L. “Raymond” Chapman, 80, of Andrews, a retired operator for Phillips Petroleum Co., died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.

MARATHON — Teresa Gonzales, 76, of El Paso, a homemaker, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in El Paso.

She was born in Marathon and was a resident of El Paso for seven years. She was Catholic.

Odessa - Luz G. Cervantes, 64, of Odessa passed away Friday, November 17, 2006. He was born in Presidio, Texas on July 22, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents: Dolores and Guadalupe Cervantes: two brothers: Salome Alvarado and Angel Alvarado. Survivors: Wife, Angelica S. Cervantes of Odessa, three daughters, Priscilla S. Cervantes of Austin, TX, Josie Cervantes Mata and husband Luis and Anita S. Cervantes both of Odessa; two sisters, Belen Jimenez and Maria Lilia Rodriguez both of Odessa; five brothers: Jesus Alvarado and wife Adelaida of Artesia, N.M., Fred Alvarado and wife Aurora, Delores Cervantes and wife Otilia, Ernesto Cervantes and Jose Cervantes all of Odessa, two sister-in-laws: Lydia Cervantes and Maria Elena Lujan. The light of his eyes, his two grandsons; Luis Alfredo C. Mata and Sergio Xavier C. Mata. Several nieces and nephews. His hobbies were horse racing and rooster fighting.
Funeral Services were held Monday, November 20, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father Joe Uecker. Pallbearer’s were: Luis Mata, Luis Alfredo Mata, Jose Cervantes Jr., Joel Cervantes, Raul Cervantes and Manuel Alvarado. Services were held under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
Richard Chipman
Odessa - Richard was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his wife dearly and was always giving and doing for his children and grandchildren. He loved his brother Raymond Chipman very much and enjoyed going to see him often in Belton Texas. Any time he missed work it was to go see his brother. He was also a very hard worker and very devoted to his job. He was a tool pusher for many years for Capstar Drilling before becoming Driller Superintendent in January 2005. He was so happy to have got this position. He loved his job and did it to the fullest. Anything he did had to be top of the line. My daddy was a hero to all of us. He pulled me out of my grief when I lost my son and his grandson Bradley Chandler back in June of 2005. My daddy and I had a lot of fun and laughter together since Bradley’s death and I will really miss him. Daddy you’re our hero and we love and will miss you a lot.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday in the Frank Wilson Chapel with Rev. Weeks Dubose officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
