Ruby E. Brown
Odessa - Ruby E. Brown, age 93, a longtime Odessa resident, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Hospice House. She had struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease for approximately the last four years. Prior to that, she had enjoyed her retirement, having retired in 1978 from S&H Green Stamp store where she had worked for 24 years.
She was an active member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ before her illness. Ruby was born June 2, 1913, in Booneville, Arkansas. She married
James Hubert Brown in November 1929. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Roy Brown and Bill Brown.
Survivors are: sons, Roy Brown and wife, Hazel, and Bill Brown and wife, Darlene; grandchildren, Jim Brown & wife, Debbie of Hobbs, N.M., Teresa Ingram of San Antonio, Steve Brown of Odessa and Debra Williams and husband Phillip of Evanston, WY; 11 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Eisenhower Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brown, Kirk Brown, Daniel Brown, Steve Brown and Phillip Williams.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Maudene Whiteside
Odessa - Maudene Whiteside, 81, of Odessa, passed away Monday, February 19, 2007, at Hospice House.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2007, at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Maudene Whiteside was born August 26, 1925, in Hawley, TX to Lemuel and Iva Williams.
She married
Grady Whiteside June 7, 1946, in Morton, TX. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Whiteside, brothers, O’Neal Williams, Eldred Williams, Donald Williams and sister, Electra Bishop.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Whiteside and wife, Maria of Dublin, TX, Terry Whiteside and wife Nadeen of Midland, brother, Alfred Williams and wife, Mildred of Windom, TX, sister, Darlene Banks and husband, Lloyd of Portales, NM, grandchildren, Shelly Norwood, Heath Whiteside and wife, Brianne, Joy Whiteside, great grandchildren, Cameron Norwood, and Eric Copavo

Bennie Dean Babb
Odessa - Bennie Dean Babb, 78, a longtime Odessa resident, passed away Monday morning, February 19, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital. Bennie retired from Eidson-Wasson Realtors where she was a broker for many years.
She was founding member of Asbury Methodist Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Bennie was born November 17, 1928, in Cisco, Texas, to the late Newt and Dora Fields. She married
Elbert G. Babb Jr. on December 24, 1946, and they made their home in Odessa. This marriage was blessed with two loving children Michael Babb and Benna Stiver.
Survivors are husband, Elbert Babb; son, Michael Babb of Odessa, and daughter Benna Stiver and husband, Mike of Constantine, Michigan; grandchildren, Matt Babb of Midland, Neal Buckingham of Odessa, Melissa Babb of Orlando, Florida, Thomas Buckingham of Manchester, Tennessee, and Jessica Buckingham of Constatine, Michigan. Bennie had 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Abury United Methodist Church in Odessa. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.

She was born in Checotah, Okla. She was Baptist.

San Angelo - Winston Evans, 84, of San Angelo, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, in San Angelo.

He was born in Plainview. He was formerly of Odessa. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Seminole - Maria De La Luz “Luz” Garcia, 85, of Seminole, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Memorial Hospital.
Services were Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Hugh Thekkel officiating. Burial was held at Gaines County cemetery. Arrangements were by Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
She was born in Mexico.
