Geraldean ‘Jerry’ Barton
Odessa - Longtime Odessa resident Geraldean “Jerry” Barton, age 81, passed away February 13th at Hospice House in Odessa after a five-year battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Snyder, Texas on August 21, 1925 and moved to Odessa with her family in 1926. She lived in Odessa until 1942 when she moved to California to work for the U.S. Navy. After the war, she returned to Odessa for a family visit and ended up getting married
to Bill Barton on June 7, 1948; she remained a resident of Odessa until her passing.
Bill and Jerry owned and operated Western Nursery for nearly 20 years. Jerry was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Jerry’s grandchildren and great-grandson were so special to her, and she cherished her time with them.
Jerry loved her family and friends very much and was always willing to help out in any way possible. Jerry also enjoyed traveling and seeing new things. In the past few years she traveled to Europe, the Middle East and Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hardy Smith, her mother, Ruby Smith, sister, Patty Smith and brother, Herman Smith. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William G. (Bill) Barton of Odessa, sons Glenn Barton and Jim Barton of Odessa, Granddaughter Jamie McKinlay of Logan, Utah, Grandson, Colin Barton of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Great-grandson Jaxon James McKinlay of Logan, Utah.
Graveside services were held on Friday, February 16, 2007. The family would like to thank the Hospice House of Odessa for their loving care.

Odessa - Nola Kay Watson Watters, 67, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Buena Vida Nursing Center here in Odessa. She was born March 6, 1939 in Jacksonville, Tx. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired as Vice President from Western National Bank.
She is survived by sons, Jimmy Watters & wife Julia, Kimmy Watters and wife Jan of Odessa; brother, Nolan Watson Jr. of Cache, Okla.; a dear and special friend Vianna Gale Loving of Odessa; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today Saturday February 17, 2007 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a family gathering to visit with friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home.

College Station - Vance Harris, 66, a retired truck driver, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007.

Vance was born April 22, 1940 in Knoxville, Tenn. to Carrie and Leslie Harris. He served in the U.S. Marines. He married

Dallas - David graced our lives from 1976-2007. David attended Permian High School in Odessa, TX and Ossining High School in N.Y. David was part owner and president of Live Wire Special Events, Active Party and Tent Rentals. His active involvement in the entertainment industry was fueled by his passion for creating music with his skilled drumming ability.
He is survived by his father who was his closest friend and mother as well as his 4 siblings.

Delfina Vasquez March 9th, 1946, in Pecos, TX. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Nora Sue Moore
Allen - Nora Sue Moore, age 72, of Plano, Texas was surrounded by family when she joined the Lord on February 13th, 2007. She was the loving wife of Lynn F. Moore for 44 years who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her 4 children, Sandi Moore of Plano, Texas, Darrell Moore and his wife Cathy of Odessa, Texas, Robert Moore and his wife Debbie of Flower Mound, Texas and Kari Pfeifer and her husband Jeff of Frisco, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Tanner, Matthew, Madison, Sarah, Preston, Austin, and Avery Ellenora.
The family received friends on Friday, February 16th, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A memorial service will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas at 10:00 am on Monday, February 19th. She will be buried next to her husband at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa following the service.
Rex Allen Rarden
Rex Allen Rarden, 70, died in Kamuela, Hawaii, on January 30, 2007, while on vacation. The son of Fred Arthur and Moleta Edith (Pedigo) Rarden. Rex was born January 9, 1937, in the Mullinville (Kansas) home of his grandparents Daniel Boone and Nellie Pedigo.
Rex grew up in several Kansas and Texas towns as his father’s work with a natural gas company necessitated relocating the family. He graduated from McCamey (Texas) High School in 1955, lettering in four sports football, basketball, baseball, and track. He went to Lon Morris Junior College on a basketball scholarship but transferred to San Angelo JC when he realized that he missed the other sports. He was a member of the San Angelo Rams 1957 national championship junior college basketball team.
He served in the U.S. Army as a medical records clerk. He was the first member of his family to graduate from college, receiving a BBA in International Business from the University of Texas in 1966. In 1964, Rex and Linda Ann Sullivan were married
in Bryan, Texas. They made their home in San Mateo, California where they have lived since 1968. Rex was employed as an insurance claims executive and especially enjoyed his work with Fremont Reinsurance Company in San Francisco. He traveled throughout the United States and Canada on audits, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Sons in Retirement. His agile mind, broad interests, quick wit, encyclopedic memory, gentleness, strength (he once strangled a rabid bobcat that attacked a fellow oil field worker), generosity, radio announcer voice, facility with languages, ear for good music and eye for good art, and love of life will be remembered by his extended family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann; son Marc Elliot and Heather Rarden of San Francisco; daughter Dr. Xandra Ellen Rarden and Gabriel Rothstein of Seattle; sister Jerelyn (Rarden) Kendrick of Midlothian, Virginia; and eight nieces and nephews in California, Texas, Colorado, Washington, and Virginia, including Michael and Julie McMillan of Odessa. He was predeceased by his parents; sister Ramona McMillan; and nephew Hal McMillan. At his request, no services were held. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice or to any organization that works with those suffering from alcoholism.
