Murretta J. Van Jelgerhuis
ANDREWS - Murretta J. Van Jelgerhuis, 83, a cook, of Andrews, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at her home in Andrews.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Andrews West cemetery. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Indianapolis.
Survivors Son, Donald Lee Van Jelgerhuis of Odessa; daughters, Juanita Horton of Andrews, Judith Lewis of Andrews, and Patricia Joss of Nevada; brother, Harry Normington of Indiana; sisters, Helen Whittington and Rose Mary Normington, both of Indiana; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Marc Florence
ODESSA - Marc Florence, 53, of Odessa, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at his residence in Odessa.
Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

ODESSA - Christine Heredia, 64, of Odessa, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Odessa Regional Hospital.

Benny Ray Hudson
Odessa - Benny Ray Hudson, 59, of Odessa, died January 31, 2007 at his home.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1000 W. Clements St., with Pastor Roy Gentry, officiating.
Burial will follow at Rosehill cemetery under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory of Odessa.
Benny Ray Hudson was born January 23, 1948 in Odessa, Texas to Jessie Hudson and Connie Polk Hudson. He graduated from Permian High School in 1967 and attended Odessa College. Benny attended Bethel Baptist Church. He worked for Jones Brothers Dirt & Paving Contractors for 15 years.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: Wife, Jacquelyn Hudson; 3 daughters, Shantaneya Harris, Tilicia McDavid and Eletta Ellis, all of Odessa; 1 son, Benny R. Hudson Jr. of Tennessee, Texas; 1 brother, Victor McCowan of Odessa; 1 Aunt, Willie Mae Hooper and a host of cousins and friends.
Joyce Bruton
Odessa - Joyce Bruton, 76, of Sand Springs, a retired telephone operator, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at the Southern Specialty Rehabilitation Center in Lubbock.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
She was born in Big Spring. She was Baptist.
Survivors Son, Richard Bruton of McAllen; daughter, Lesa Gamble of Sand Springs; brothers, Robert Fields of Odessa and Alton Fields of Big Spring; sister, Bobbie Cornelison of Fort Worth; and five grandchildren.
Cozette Hardcastle
Odessa - Cozette Hardcastle, 75, of Andrews, a retired school teacher, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at her residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Strawn. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors Son, Sam Hardcastle of Crane; daughter, Annell Udy of Katy: eight grandchildren: and one great-grandson.
Jose De La Luz Hernandez
Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico - Jose De La Luz Hernandez, 69, of Odessa, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be today in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Arrangements were by Martinez Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
Survivors Wife, Petra Hernandez of Odessa; sons, Jose Hernandez of Odessa, Reyes Hernandez of Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Juan Hernandez of El Paso; daughters, Gloria Hernandez of El Paso, Lucelena Hernandez of San Antonio, Carmen Hernandez of Maryland and Rosa Estella Hernandez of Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Daniel Lugo
Odessa - Daniel Lugo, 34, of Odessa, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alberto Flores officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
He was born in El Paso.
Survivors Son, Nathaniel Lugo of Amarillo; daughters, Marina Paredes Lugo and Natasha Lugo, both of Odessa; parents, Ruben and Ignacia Lugo of Juarez, Mexico; brother, Ruben Jesus Lugo; and sisters, Elizabeth Lozoya and Wendy Lugo, both of Odessa, Sandra Ramos and Karla Flotte, both of El Paso.
Leonor Nuņez Mediano
Marfa - Leonor Nuņez Mediano, 84, of Lubbock, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in Lubbock.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Roland Fonseco officiating. Burial will follow at Mercedes cemetery. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
She was born in Ruidoso. She was Catholic.
Survivors Sons, Nicholas Mediano Jr. of El Paso, Ernesto Mediano of Lubbock, Adan Mediano and Lee Mediano, both of Odessa, and Omar Mediano of Carrolton; daughters, Eva Gonzales of Pharr and Lilia Mediano of Marfa; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Martin Joseph Shuster
Fort Stockton - Martin Joseph Shuster, 86, of Fort Stockton, the owner/operator of a grocery store, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in Odessa.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Ernie Waggoner officiating. Burial followed at East Hill cemetery.
He was born in Homestead, Pa. He was Christian.
Survivors Sons, Joe Shuster, Bobby Shuster and David Shuster, all of Fort Stockton; sisters, Ruth Clegg of Clearwater, Fla., and Marian Owens of Spring Hill, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Justin Hager
Fort Stockton - Justin Hager, 19, died Friday, March 17, 2006, in Fort Stockton.
Services are pending with Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
Ronald ‘Ron’ Dowell
Odessa - Ronald “Ron” Dowell, 56, of Odessa passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday in the Frank Wilson Chapel with Rev. David Wyantt officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Ron was born in Odessa, Texas on September 24, 1949 to Roy and Jewell Craig Dowell. He became a Christian at a young age in the Methodist Church. Ron and his mother talked a lot about our Lord and how much he had helped both of them. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended Odessa College. Ron was a native Texan.
He worked at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. He enjoyed helping people, especially the young and elderly. Ron was a wonderful son and will be missed by numerous friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his father Roy Raymond Dowell.
He is survived by his son Dustin Dowell of Houston, daughter Jennifer Dowell Cortez and husband David of Houston, mother Jewell Dowell of Odessa, sister Janet Lee and husband Gary of Odessa, grandchildren Jacob, Elysia and Kara.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Jose Vega
Stanton - Jose Vega went to be with his heavenly father on April 26, 2006. He was born in 1945 in Big Spring, Texas to Esperanza Vega. He married
his beloved wife Hope Treviņo Vega.
He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Mrs. Deborah Munoz and husband Paul of Pennsylvania, daughter Ms. Mychelle Vega of Odessa, TX.; son Mr. Ricardo David Vega and wife Veronica of Odessa; grandchildren include Alex, Anthony and Cristine Munoz, Esperanza Corina and Victoria “Danna,” Guy Rene and Kassandra Vega; brothers; Benny Polanco of Las Vegas, Nevada and John Polanco of Fort Worth, TX.; sisters, Dora Garcia and Mary Ann Polanco, both of Defiance, Ohio and Sylvia Pacheco of Odessa, TX.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home.
O’Leta Evelyn Bradshaw Nesbit Vordick
Eden - Leta Vordick of Millersview, Texas passed away in her home on April 26, 2006 at the age of 62. She was born June 26, 1943 in Bradshaw, Texas to Bell Bradshaw and Jessie Walker. Leta attended school in Winters, Wingate and Bronte, Texas, and was a homemaker.
Leta married
Bill Nesbit on November 20, 1960 and lived in Winters from 1974-1988 where she was assistant manager of Dairy Queen. She married
Ronnie Vordick on February 28, 1987 and moved to Millersview, Texas in 1988 and worked at J&P Food Store in Eden until becoming a homemaker.
Leta was full of life and enjoyed her grandchildren, singing, dancing, chatting with friends and playing games on the internet, and gathering with family and friends. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone and hardly ever met a stranger. She touched many lives and will live in our hearts forever.
Leta is preceded in death by her parents Bell and Jessie Bradshaw, and 3 brothers Jerry, JB, and Ray Dale Bradshaw, and 1 brother-in-law Coy “Smokey” Hord.
Survivors include her husband Ronnie Vordick of Millersview, 1 daughter Gina King and husband Raymond of Odessa, 2 sons Tracey Nesbit and wife Amy of Millersview, TX, and Casey Nesbit and wife Sue Ann of Robert Lee, 3 stepsons Ricky Vordick and wife Dana of Brownwood, Dea Vordick and wife Morgan of Grape Creek, and Dale Vordick of San Angelo, 3 sisters Shirley Hord of Winters, Joan Claxton and husband Roger of Denton, and Cora Dillard and husband Darrell of Santa Anna, 13 grandchildren Lance King, Jennifer Nesbit, Casey Mare’e Nesbit, Stetson Nesbit, Alycia Nesbit, Coly and Ian Vordick, James, Larissa, and Lea Vordick, Ryan and Natalie Vordick, and Amanda Garza, 7 nephews and 1 niece and a very good friend became a member of our family. Leta leaves behind many friends and family.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday April 29, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Eden Funeral Home of Eden, Texas. Interment will follow at the Eden Cemetary.
Pallbearers will be Victor Santoya, Cody Hord, Stephen Bradshaw, Jesse Bullard, Jerry Hord, Ben Hord, Cliff Mattingley and Trey Bradshaw, and honorary pallbearers will be Lance King and Stetson Nesbit.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Vista Care Hospice of San Angelo. Services entrusted to Eden Funeral Home.
