Irene Shelton
ODESSA -- Irene Shelton, 70, of Odessa passed away March 17, 1999, in a local hospital. Mrs. Shelton was born April 12, 1928, in Haskell County, Texas. She had been a longtime resident of Odessa and worked as an Insurance Clerk for Women and Children’s Hospital until 1983. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one son, Mike Shelton and his wife, Marla of Anchorage, Ala.; one daughter Melinda Rieken and her husband, Mike of Luanda, Angola; one brother, Don Vaughn and his wife, Laverne of Odessa; four grandchildren, Jennifer Rieken, Amy and Zeph Rouquette, Monica Shelton and Aaron Shelton; a dear friend, Patricia Lambert and her family; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, March 22, 1999, in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jerry Thorpe officiating.

Beryl Blain
ODESSA -- Beryl Bruce Blain, 84, of Odessa, a retired professor, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Avalon Place.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Michael Jasper officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Arlington, Colo.

Chester Compton
ANDREWS -- Chester Lee Compton, 71, of Andrews, a retired truck driver, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Permian General Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Glenn Hammack officiating. Burial will be at Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Chillicothe and moved to Andrews in 1953. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God church.

Henry Gilley
FORT STOCKTON -- Henry Floyd "H.F." Gilley, 85, of Fort Stockton, owner of Lem Smith Machinery Co., died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Witcher officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Hollandale, Miss., and moved to Fort Stockton in 1946. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Bapist.

PECOS -- Charlie N. Millan, 82, of Pecos, a retired ranch hand, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Reeves County Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Davis and had lived in Pecos for 42 years. He was Catholic.

WINTERSET, Iowa -- George Allan Tuttle, 63, of Odessa, a retired carpenter, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at his residence.

He was born in St. Louis and moved to Odessa in 1979 from Winterset.

SLATON -- Avie G. Walker, 87, of Odessa, a retired practical nurse, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Seabury Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Weatherford and moved to Odessa in 1988 from Denver City. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Elsie Walker
SANDERSON -- Elsie E. Walker, 75, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, in Fort Stockton.

She was born in Favita, Colo., and had lived in Sanderson for six months after moving from Portales, N.M.

Danny Terry
SEMINOLE -- Danny Terry, 40, of Denver City died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Yoakum County Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Maurice P. Tripplehorn
ANDREWS -- Maurice P. Tripplehorn, 88, passed away in his home in Andrews, Thursday April 15, 1999, after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 15, 1910, in Findlay, Ohio. He was one of five children born to J.W. and Ida Tripplehorn.
Maurice graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in petroleum engineering. Following his studies, he ran the West Texas operations of his family’s petroleum business. Maurice, along with his father, was the first to successfully drill an oil well in Andrews County in 1931. Maurice married
the former Vaughan Kelly of Odessa on October 5, 1937. They made Andrews their home soon after their marriage.
Vaughan preceded Maurice in death on April 11, 1995.
Maurice was a member of the First Christian Church.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 17, 1999, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Zap officiating. Services under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Maurice is survived by a son, Paul Tripplehorn and his wife, Charlotte, of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, Kelly Jr., Alexis Claire and Jacob; and two brothers, Kent Tripplehorn and Bill Tripplehorn, both of Stephenville.
