Eufemia L. Rojo
ODESSA - Eufemia L. Rojo, 78, of Odessa, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Hospice House surrounded by her beloved family.
She was born September 16, 1927 in Lajitas, TX. She married
Benito O. Rojo on June 25, 1943 in Alpine, TX.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benito, her daughter, Connie De La Cruz, her brother, Jesus Llanez, her mother, Candelaria Llanez, and her father, Santos Llanez. She is survived by 9 children, Mrs. Gloria Quintela and Santos of Odessa, Mr. Luis Rojo and Elena of Odessa, Mrs. Mary Sanchez and Eduardo of Odessa, Ms. Anna Rojo of Odessa, Mrs. Rosie Morales and Juan of Odessa, Mr. Bennie Rojo of Odessa, Mrs. Norma Bueno and Luis of Odessa, Mr. Ruben Rojo and Lupita of Odessa, and Mr. Raul Rojo and Sarah of Odessa; 26 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Tomas G. Llanez of Odessa and Joe Garcia of Odessa, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was a homemaker and a mother and a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church where she was a cursilista and belonged to the Third Order of Carmelites.
We would like to thank Hospice and all those who supported us through prayers, kind words, visitations, kind gestures, cards, flowers, plants and food.
Visitation will be held today from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph with Fr. Joe Uecker officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
Mariana Rocha Scripps
FREDERICKSBURG - Mariana Rocha Scripps, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at her home on April 29, 2006, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on June 4, 1925, in Pecos, Texas, to Francisco Rocha, of Native American descent, and Leonor Rayos Rocha of Pecos. In 1948, she married
Robert “Bob” P. Scripps, who served in the U.S. Army Infantry from March 1941 until August 1945 in the Pacific War. He was a farmer, owned a machine shop and was a director of the E.W. Scripps Company until he retired. The family moved to Fredericksburg from Balmorhea in 1981.
With her long, black hair in braids down to her shoulders, she was known to everyone as “Ama.” She dedicated her life to family, and her home was always full of children as she helped raise many others besides her own. Her favorite color was red, and she loved to laugh, dance and sing. She enjoyed family gatherings and was famous for her homemade tortillas, beans and chili.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Rocha, Maximino Rocha and Alvino Rocha; and her sisters, Sara Jaramillo and Rita Hernandez.
She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Scripps; her brother, Urbano Rocha of Midland; and her children, Rebecca S. Brickner and husband Jeff of Fredericksburg, Robert P. Scripps Jr. of Fredericksburg, William A. Scripps and wife Luz Ma (Norma) of Fredericksburg, Corina S. Granado and husband Ray of Fredericksburg, Margaret S. Klenzing and husband Gary of Fredericksburg, Jimmy R. Scripps and wife June of Fredonia, Adam R. Scripps of Fredericksburg, Eva S. Attal and husband Sam of Colorado, Mary Ann S. Sanchez and husband George of Fredericksburg, Henry R. Scripps and wife Michelle of Fredericksburg, Virginia S. Vasquez and husband Feliciano of Spring Branch; 34 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial Mass was said at 3 p.m. May 3, 2006 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hill Country Memorial Hospice.

Odessa - Valerio Guerrero Sr. 68 of Odessa passed away Sunday May 7, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital
He was born October 29, 1937 in Saltillo Coahuila Mexico to Agapito and Aquelina Sanchez Guerrero. On June 18, 1958 in Nuevo Laredo Mexico, he united in marriage to Lilia Malacara. He was a Christian and retired Owner operator of the Dog House Lounge in Midland. He is preceded in death by Parents: Agapito and Aquelina S. Guerrero, Son: Valerio Guerrero Jr., and Brother: Damason Guerrero He is survived by wife: Lilia M. Guerrero of Odessa, Sons: Joe Guerrero and fiancé Nora Lujan of Midland, Alex Guerrero and wife Evette of Spindale, North Carolina, Ignacio “Nacho” Guerrero and wife Lavinia, Santiago Guerrero and wife Soledad, Ramon Guerrero and wife Janie all of Odessa,Sergio Guerrero and wife Liliana of Alburqueque NMx. Fort Stockton - Dee Jamison of Fort Stockton passed away Sunday, May 7. Services will be Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton, Texas with Rev. Dr. James R. Miles officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Colls, Billy W. Jamison, Randy Jamison, David Jepson, Ross Colls, and Brandon Jamison. Honorary Pallbearer will be James (J.R.) Jepson.
Dee Jamison was born March 12, 1939, to Farris and Hazel Pounds in Littlefield Texas. She attended Bovina High School. Dee loved working with Robert on their ranch in Fort Stockton. She loved being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She married
Robert Jamison on February 18th 1956. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at their home in Fort Stockton.
She is survived by her husband Robert Jamison of Fort Stockton; Two Sons, Billy Jamison and wife Tammy L., Kevin Jamison and wife Tammy both of Fort Stockton; Two Daughters, Pam Kiser and husband Keith of Katy, TX and Cathy Colls and husband Don of Dumas, TX; Two Brothers, Danny & wife Deenie Pounds, Sammy & wife Wanda Pounds; Two Sisters, Martha Wilson & husband Bruce, Betty Pounds. Nine Grandchildren, Becky Jamison. David Jepson, Billy and Brandon Jamison, Chad and Ross Colls, Mandi Hosli, Randy Jamison, and Traci Collins: Six Great Grandchildren, Blake, Tyler & Kamryn Collins, Stacey Jamison, Samantha Hosli and Michael Layne.
She is preceeded in death by her Father Farris Pounds, Mother Hazel Pounds, Brother John Robert Pounds, Sister Jerry Bennett, Grandson James (J.R.) Jepson, and Father-in-Law Arnold Jamison.
Denise Renee’ Baker
Odessa - Denise Renee’ Baker, 49, of Odessa went to be with our Lord, May 4, 2006 after battling a lengthy illness.
Denise was born, July 3 1956, in Andrews, Texas to Wayne and Ouida Wright. She was a loving daughter and sister to brothers, Donny and Doug Wright. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1974 and later attended and graduated from Odessa College in cosmetology. She used her skills as a hairstylist to treat her family/friends and later pursued her interest in other career paths. She worked as an executive officer for the Odessa Board of Realtors. She was a bookkeeper for Sentry Services and later served Nurses Unlimited, as an administrative assistant before becoming a housewife.
Those who knew Denise will miss her smile, wit and laughter. She loved her family and friends, as well as, Elwood, the family’s pet. Denise often gave of herself through her simple random acts of compassion and kindness.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donny. She is survived by her husband David K. Baker, son John Wayne Baker, and daughter, Kendra Renee’ Baker, all of Odessa; brother Doug Wright of Gainesville, Texas; and her two nieces.
Family visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors 4635 Oakwood Drive in Odessa. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Wednesday at Andrews North cemetery in Andrews with Rev. Jeff Box officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 1802 E. 52nd in Odessa.

Charles ‘Floyd’ Johnson
Odessa - Charles “Floyd” Johnson, age 68, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born October 20, 1937, to Andrew Clinton and Ollie Frances (Bertling) Johnson in Fayette County, TX. He married
Thelma Ray Headrick on May 28, 1960, in Odessa. He was the owner of Floyd’s Texaco in West Odessa from 1977 to 1999. He was a member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church.
His father, and his sisters, Doris Johnson, Jo Ann Kuntschik and Sadie Mae Denman, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Ray Johnson of Odessa; son, Rev. Charles (Chuck) James Andrew Johnson and wife, Sharla, of Fritch, TX; daughter, Cindy Denise Curnutt and husband, Dwight, of Odessa; step-son, Chester (Chet) Headrick and wife, Gayla, of Odessa; mother, Ollie Frances Holland of Yoakum, TX; brothers, Clinton Ray Johnson, John Everett Johnson, and Wallace Lynn Johnson; sisters, Dora Vadjos, and Della Hearn; seven grandchildren, Amber Curnutt, Michael Curnutt, Amanda Latham, Rachelle Johnson, Layden Johnson, Devin Johnson, and Michael Ortiz; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Kay and Jayden Scott.
There will be a family visitation from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2006, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Rev. Jess Little officiating and assisted by Rev. Charlie Johnson. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials can be given to Sunset Heights Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

Marshall Gist Nevill
McCamey - Marshall Nevill, one of the last of a dying breed of old time ranchers, died in his home in McCamey on Sunday.
He was born at home, Dec. 9, 1912 in Dawson county. He was the oldest of the three children born to Laura Lou (Bullock) and Virgil Nevill.
He went to school in Ft. Stockton and graduated in 1930. He briefly attended Texas A & M University until the family ranching business called him home.
He married
Prebble (Midge) Adams Feb. 20, 1933 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They lived and ranched in Culberson, Crane, Pecos, Crockett, and Upton counties. He farmed in Pecos and Gaines counties. In 1953, when his daughter reached school age, he moved into McCamey and resided there until his death. He made the trip south to the farm every day, sometimes 3 or 4 times, from 1953 until the present, logging an estimated 1.5 to 2 million miles on highway 1901.
He presented a gruff exterior, but all that knew him knew that he was a kind, compassionate man. He seldom asked anybody for anything but was always willing to help somebody in need. This was evidenced by all the people he helped get a “start” in life.
Survivors include his daughter Marsha Wolfe and son-in-law Roger Wolfe of Bakersfield, grandsons Brian Gryder and wife Shelia of Bakersfield, Brent Gryder of McCamey, Brad Gryder of Houston, Gregg Wolfe
and wife Candi of San
Angelo, Gary Wolfe of Shreveport La., 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Laura Nevill, brother Hearrell Nevill, sister Ethene Plumber, and wife of 67 years Prebble (Midge) Nevill.
Graveside services will be Wednesday May 10, 2006 at 11: a.m. at Resthaven cemetery in McCamey, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Pascual Sanchez Jr.
Odessa - Pascual Sanchez Jr., 28, a resident of Midland for seven years, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Martinez-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Fry officiating. Intermittent will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
He was born March 17, 1978 in Pecos.
He is survived by his parents, Pascual M. Sr. and Delma A. Sanchez; brothers Joseph Sanchez and wife Joyce and Daniel Sanchez and wife Monica; sister, Monica Carrasco and husband Esequiel; grandparents, Manuel and Rosa Jacquez and Maria Sanchez; niece, Ariana Sanchez; and nephews, Daniel Sanchez Jr., Patrick Sanchez, Samuel Sanchez, Jonathan Carrasco and Jonah Sanchez.
Pascual was a classic car enthusiast, who always put his family and friends first especially when it came to his niece and nephews. He was a dependable brother and son. He always offered what he could, even if it was just an ear to lend or a shoulder to cry or lean on.
We will always miss and Love You Your Family.
Frankie Earl Howard
Lubbock - Beloved husband, father, and PaPaw left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on May 8, 2006, at UMC in Lubbock after a sudden illness at the age of 74 years.
He was born April 4, 1932, in San Angelo, to Frank and Jeanette Howard. He moved to Denver City at the age of 13. He graduated from Denver City High School and the following year, married
his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Allison on Feb. 16, 1951. They were married
for 55 years. They resided in Denver City and raised their three children there until 1978, when they moved to Lovington, NM. In 2003, they moved to their current home in Wolfforth.
Frankie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict for two years. He was also in the National Guard for 20 years, serving as a Master Sergeant for the last 10 years.
Frankie was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, Sunday school director, and on several committees. He received much enjoyment while volunteering many hours at My Father’s House in Lubbock.
He was employed by Amoco Pipeline for 44 years where he worked in many different positions and finished his career as field supervisor.
He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy; son, Brent Howard and wife, Michelle of Lubbock; daughters, Cynthia Trout and husband, Lyndal of Denver City, and Penny Gallion and husband, Audwin, of Crane; mother, Jeanette Howard of Denver City; brother, Bobby Howard and wife, Delta, of Hobbs, NM; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
His father, Frank Howard, and sister, Frances Dodson preceded him in death.
Frankie will be missed by numerous people whose lives have been touched in some way. His love of Christ, family, and friends leaves a legacy of love and devotion. He knew no bounds when it came to love and service.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Bacon Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Joplin and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. A graveside will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to My Father’s House of Lubbock.
The family will receive friends at Resthaven Wednesday, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.
