Allison ‘A.P.’ Martin Sr.
Atlanta, TX - Mr. Allison (A.P.) Martin Sr. of Rodessa, LA. passed away on May 11, 2006 in Shreveport, LA. He was born on March 20, 1925 in Miller County Arkansas. He is survived by his spouse, Laverne Martin of Rodessa, LA. One son, A.P. Martin Jr. and wife Elaine of Odessa, TX. Three daughters, Ann Herzog and husband Ken of Lubbock, TX., Pam Martin of Rodessa, TX., Allison Oliver and husband Gerrod of Atlanta, TX. Two brothers, Jack Martin and wife Mary of Rodessa, LA. Reginald Martin and wife Betty of Doddridge, AR. and one sister, Clara Phillips of Texarkana, AR.
Mr. Martin is also survived by 10 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one grandson, Charles Gowan Jr. of Atlanta, TX . Mr. Martin was a member of the McCoy Nazarene Church in Rodessa, LA., having received Christ in Odessa TX in 1963. He proudly served in the Marines during WWII. He owned and operated Specialty Pumps and Water Wells in Rodessa, LA. for 23 years and was self employed in Specialty Reverse Rigs in Odessa, TX. for many years prior. The “Water Well Man” as he was fondly called, was an avid coon hunter known for outrunning his own hound dogs. Although he cheated at cards when playing with his grandkids that he loved so dearly, he had an unselfish spirit, loving his wife of 58 years, family and all children and being loved in return. He will be deeply missed.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, May 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Concord cemetery, Miller County Arkansas with the Rev. Chris Miller officiating.
Dora Ball
Garland - Ball, Dora 49 of Garland, TX.
Survived by her husband Larry Ball and son Brandon Ball of Garland, TX. Mother – Anna Stewart, Siblings: Brothers – Art and Wally Loera, Sisters – Mary Hickman, Marissa Lorea, and Corinne Wright. She graduated from Odessa High School 1975, graduated from Odessa College with an Associates degree in Criminal Justice, University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Sull Ross State University 1994 MBA. She is preceded in death by her father Gregorio Loera. She was an educator in the Ector County ISD for twenty years and an Administrator / Educator in the Plano, Garland, and Dallas ISD for the last five years. Family will receive friends on Monday May 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday the 16th at 2:00 pm at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home chapel.
Edith Harrington
Odessa - Edith Harrington 76 of Odessa passed away Sunday May 14, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating.
Edith was born in Midland, Texas on November 24, 1929 to Herbert S. and Ava (Butler) Collings. She was a 29 year member of the MCH Auxiliary serving as president numerous times and holding state offices as well for the hospital auxiliary, Past District Secretary for district 5730 Rotary and member and secretary of the Greater Odessa Rotary, Progressive Study Club, member of First Baptist Church where she taught kindergarten and a Gideon Auxiliary member. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edith will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Rice Harrington.
Edith is survived by her husband Whitey Harrington of Odessa; daughter Sara Moak and husband Barry of Abilene; sister Patricia Taylor of Weatherford; two grandchildren Corrie Moak of College Station, and Evan Moak of Abilene.

Donna Marie Mills
Doss - Donna Marie Mills, age 45, of Doss, Texas, formerly of Buchanan Dam, Texas passed away May 7, 2006. Mrs. Mills was born November 12, 1960 in Ft. McClellan, Alabama to John A. and Jolene (Mayberry) DeSalvo.
Mrs. Mills grew up in Austin, Texas, where she would later work for the District Attorney’s office. She loved being outdoors enjoying the lake and hunting. She also loved her Lord, Jesus, her family and friends, arts and crafts, and had a passion for photography. Her ability to master a hobby kept everyone wondering what the next one would be. Mrs. Mills held numerous certificates for achievements and was also voted as Freshman Sweetheart for Travis High School and attended Permian High School in Odessa, Texas.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her husband, Keith Lee Mills; three children: Lyndsay Bredahl and husband, Roger, of Round Rock, Texas; Kendall Barba of Round Rock, Texas; and Rachel Barba of Kingsland, Texas; grandchildren: Peyton, Parker and Pierce Bredahl; mother, Jolene Hawkins, of Kingsland, Texas; step-father, Ray Hawkins, of Buchanan Dam, Texas; father, John A. DeSalvo, of Las Vegas, Nevada; father-in-law, Glen Lee Mills, and wife Sandy, of Austin, Texas; and mother-in-law, Janie Eads and husband Jay, of Marble Falls, Texas; four brothers: Vince Hawkins and wife, Kim, of Colleyville, Texas; Wade Hawkins and wife, Michelle, of Odessa, Texas; Brant Hawkins and wife, Shurine, of Kingsland, Texas; and Nick DeSalvo and wife, Tammy, of North Carolina.

Albert James Pierson Jr.
Albert James Pierson Jr., 79, of Jal, was born on June 10, 1926, in Big Spring, TX. He passed away on May 06, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX, after a two and half year battle with cancer and heart problems.
A graveside service will be held on May 20, 2006 at 2p.m., at Jal cemetery. Services are under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
He loved the family and the time spent with them. His father came to America from Belgium as a small boy. He loved his many trips to visit his België family. Jim went to school in Baird, TX and ACU in Abilene. He served in the U.S. Navy on an LST and was in the invasion of Southern France. He and Shirley married
on June 01, 1946 and would be 60 years in June. They moved to Jal in 1949 and he started his 37 year career with El Paso Natural Gas Company in the Instrument Department. He retired in 1986. He loved playing golf with his friends. Jim served on the city council of Jal for 25 years and the last 5 years as mayor. He enjoyed the friends he worked and served with. He was honored to be the Jal Trailblazer for Lea County in 1998.
Jim is survived by his wife: Shirley of the home; one daughter: Sherry and husband Jeff of Austin, TX; one son: Tony of Jal; two grandchildren; two brothers: Bob and Sandy Pierson of Montgomery, TX, Ed and Sherry Pierson of Tucson, AZ., one brother-in-law: Bob and Susan Poole of Horseshoe Bay, TX; and his brother’s wife: Bonnie of Austin, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pierson was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother Benny.
He was an exceptional husband, father, and friend to many. He added much to all of our lives and he will be missed.

Delma Lea Ellzey Poe
Odessa - Our precious, loving mother and mam-maw, Delma Lea Ellzey Poe, of Odessa, TX passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the age of 60. She was born January 31, 1946 in Liberal, Seward County, KS to Thomas Gerald and Ava Lea Ellzey.
Delma married
Bobby Joe Poe at the age of 14 on August 12, 1960 in Odessa, TX at the Ector County Courthouse. Delma was an Odessa American home delivery carrier for 17 years, until she was diagnosed with cancer in February 2006.
Delma was preceded in death by her parents, T.G. and Ava Lea Ellzey; a sister, Sandra Coleen Hudson; a niece, Katie Michelle Cox and a son-in-law, Billy Charles Holliman.
She is survived by her husband of over 45 years, Bobby Joe Poe of Odessa, TX; son, T.J. Poe and wife Susan of Odessa, TX; daughter, Barbie Poe Pierson and husband Derrick of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter, Bobbie “Josie” Neely and husband Johnny of Odessa, TX; son, Cory Poe and wife Diann of Eustace, TX; daughter, Dedra Poe of Odessa, TX; eleven grandchildren, David, Joey and Billy Poe, J.T., Cody and Chad Pierson, Cameron, Mackenzie and J.T. Neely, Gerry and JoLea Poe and foster grandson B.J. Lovins; three sisters, Sarah Northcutt of Miami, TX; Wina Garrett of Morongo Valley, CA, and Jeri Ford of Herculaneum, MO; as well as many nephews, nieces and other loved ones.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Brandon Utley officiating. Formal visitation will be Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, TX. Pallbearers will be David Poe, Joey Poe, Billy Poe, J.T. Pierson, Cody Pierson and Andy Hudson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Home Hospice of Odessa.
Mama always put her family before herself. She lived for her children and gave us a full and happy childhood. We will mourn her passing, celebrate her life and cherish the memories until we meet again.
Kathy Turner-Rigdon
Austin - Kathy Turner-Rigdon passed away on May 9, 2006 in Austin after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 49.
Kathy was born on August 16, 1956 in Big Spring, Texas to Bettye and Jack Turner. After moving to Odessa, she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Nimitz Junior High, graduating from Permian High School in 1974. She then worked at the Oil Patch Restaurant where she made many lasting friendships. She later moved to Austin and worked for Nagel Manufacturing Company for over 13 years until she left to devote her time to raising her family. She and the family moved to Dripping Springs in 2002. Kathy was loved by everyone who met her with her cheerful personality and wonderful smile. She will be missed by all.
Kathy is survived by her husband Kevin, daughter Lauren and son Cole, all of Dripping Springs; parents Bettye and Jack Turner of Odessa; brothers Steven and wife Karen of Pleasanton, James and wife Valerie of Carrolton and Michael and wife Cyndy of Humble, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock, May 20, 2006 at Austin-Peel Funeral Home in Austin. Family graveside services will follow at Remembrance Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Christopher House of Hospice Austin or the Odessa Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Wayne Rock
Big Spring - Wayne Rock, age 87, died at home, Monday, May 15, 2006, following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 12, 1918 in Snyder, Oklahoma, to the late William and Myrtle Rock. He served in the US Air Force during WWII where he was stationed in Italy with the rank of Master Sergeant. Wayne graduated from the Southwest Photos Arts Institute in Dallas. He was united in marriage to Joan Thompson on November 26, 1966. He lived in many places in his lifetime; however he considered two places to be home – St. Louis, Missouri and Big Spring, Texas. Wayne worked in the educational film and commercial photography industry for more than thirty years. He worked for the University of Oklahoma filming movies and football games and later made a training video for NASA astronauts. After moving to Big Spring, Wayne worked for Gamco Educational Software for many years and later retired from there. Following his retirement he worked as a substitute teacher for Forsan ISD.
As an active citizen of Big Spring, Wayne was on the board of the Big Spring chapter of the American Business Club (ABCs) in the ’70s and ’80s and the local Rotary club in the ’90s. He was also on the Howard County Fair Board and the Planning and Zoning Board for many years. On August 28, 1976, Wayne was ordained a Catholic Deacon in the Diocese of San Angelo, Texas. During his diaconate, he was a dedicated servant to Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Big Spring where among his many other duties he served in the Men’s Club.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan, and their three daughters: Tasha Barlow and husband, Robert of Austin, Texas, Tonya Williams and husband Chris of Hutto, Texas, and Lana Liles and husband James of Eagle Point, Colorado; and one son, Barry Rock of Colorado. He has one surviving brother, Decisel Rock of Norman City, Oklahoma. Wayne is also survived by grandchildren Elaine and Lenci Williams, Christopher Moore, Melanie Liles, Kristyn and Chelsea Rock and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Moore. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bert, Cecil, Wilbur and RC and by one sister, Opal.
Rosary will be Tuesday, May 16 at 7:00 pm at Nalley Pickle and Welch Funeral Home, Big Spring. Deacons Tim Graham and Ignacio Cisneros will preside over the wake. Funeral services for Wayne Rock will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1009 Hearn Street, Big Spring. Bishop Michael D. Pfeifer, OMI will be the presider and Deacon Alan Neff will deliver the homily. Pall Bearers are Tom Corwin, Auriel Lafond, Lee George, Joel Lane, Raymond Holguin, and Maurice Smith. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday evening prior to the rosary at the funeral home. Visitors may also pay their respects to the family at their home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in his name for Catholic Prison Ministries and Odyssey Healthcare of Big Spring.

Judge Lee Sledge Green
Fort Worth - Judge Lee Sledge Green, 69, of Midland, died on Sunday, May 14, 2006. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Greenwood Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Worth with Rev. Clark Ford and Dr. William Parkey officiating.
Judge Green was born on November 30, 1936 to Gus Sledge Green and Mildred Washburn Green. He was a 1955 graduate of Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth. He received his B.A. in Philosophy from The University of Texas at Austin in 1963 and his law degree from The University of Texas Law School in 1966. In addition to his years in private practice in both Fort Worth and Pecos, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Tarrant County and as the County Attorney for Reeves County. Judge Green also served as the County Court at Law Judge for Reeves County from 1982 until 2001 when he retired. He was a member of the Texas Bar Association, a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Exes, a member of Phi Kappa Sigma, a member of The Fort Worth Club, and a member of Memorial Christian Church in Midland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Washburn Green.
Judge Green is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane Jones Green; two daughters, Jane Ellen Green of Houston and Lee Amy Green of Dallas; a son, Edward Foster Green of Fort Worth; a sister, Jane Green Davis; a sister-in-law, Patsy Van Winkle; two nieces and one nephew.

Joyce Owen Goldwire
Sanderson - Joyce Owen Goldwire died Thursday morning in Fort Stockton, Texas. Services will be held in Sanderson, Texas at First Baptist Church on Saturday May 20 at 1 p.m. with burial at Center Grove cemetery in Sanderson. Bro. Randy Bush will officiate.
Joyce Nina Owen was born May 10, 1936 in Cass County, Texas to Lamar Garrett Owen and Susie Ineva Hamilton Owen. She graduated as Salutatorian from Atlanta High School in 1954. She married
A.N. Farley Jr. in Houston in 1956 and they moved to Sanderson in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1978. She married
Bill Goldwire of Sanderson in 1982. Joyce worked as a bank loan officer in Houston and Sanderson. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Sanderson where she served as treasurer for many years. She was an active member of the Culture Club of Sanderson and served as General Federation of Women’s Clubs Western District President for 2 years. Joyce was a very proud resident of Terrell County enjoying many activities over the years including High School booster clubs, Historical Commission, Senior Citizens and was a Centennial Committee member.
Joyce Goldwire was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brothers, J. Frank Owen and Billy Clark Owen and her sisters, Sybil Wiley and Wanda Ruley. She is survived by her husband, Bill Goldwire of Sanderson, her son, Kevin Farley and wife Melissa of Fort Stockton and daughters Selene Farley Amberson and Susie Farley of Austin, her stepchildren Lloyd Goldwire of Sanderson and Alice Glass and husband David of New Hampshire. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Elizabeth Farley of Fort Stockton, Terra Amberson of Austin, and Emily Horne of Los Lunas, N.M., and her great-granddaughter Margaret Horne of Los Lunas. She is also survived by her sisters LaRue Cohn of San Leandro, California, Jo Brand of Vivian, La. and Patricia Little of Atlanta Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers will be nephews Lamar Little, Dan Swanson, Trevor Swanson, David Farley, Robert J. Farley and Robert G. Farley.

Edna Jewell Curtis Sparkman
Odessa - Edna Jewell Curtis Sparkman 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday May 18, 2006 at Hospice House in Odessa.
Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Saturday at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday at Frank Wilson Chapel with Rev. Byron McWilliams officiating. Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Tuesday at Crowell cemetery in Crowell, Texas.
Edna was born June 2, 1932 in Crowell, Texas to Alfred B and Willie Mae (Holmes) Curtis. She was a restaurant manager and a Baptist.
She is survived by her son Larry Sparkman and wife Tammy of Odessa; daughters Linda Amonett and husband Ron of Odessa, Gloria Thornton of Lexington, TN; brother Frank Curtis of Roswell; grandchildren Amy Parker, David Thornton, James Thornton, Jason Kiser, Chris Kiser, Jimmy Wolsch, Tina Wolsch, Teresa Simpkins; great-grandchildren Spencer Wolsch, Joshua Wolsch, Collins Parker, Maggie Parker, Haley Simpkins, Lindsey Simpkins, and Abraham Thornton.
