James Richard ‘J.R.’ Wilson
Odessa - James Richard “J.R.” Wilson, longtime resident of Odessa went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He was born Sunday, July 29, 1928 in Paint Rock, Concho County, Texas, to the late Albert Wade and Minnie Mae (Jackson) Wilson.
J.R. moved to Odessa in 1945 where he met the love of his life, Mary Roxie Thompson, who he married
in 1946. He started work as a welder with J&J Steel and Odessa Pump where he remained for many years. In 1955, J. R. became a member of the H.A. McFarland Lodge #1338 A.F.&A.M. He and his wife were members of the Fountain Of Life Missionary.
Those left behind to cherish his love and memories are his wife Roxie Wilson of Odessa; three daughters, Georgia Landers, Darva Earnest and husband, Gene, all of Odessa, and Toni Perry and husband, Kevin of Dallas, three sons, Jimmy R Wilson and wife, Mary Ann of Dallas, Stanley Wilson and wife, Judy of Austin, and Matthew Landers of Odessa, two sisters, Barbara Burgin of Charlotte, N.C. and Julia Windham of Cloveland, Fla., one brother, John Windham and wife, Lavonne of Gardendale, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers Bill Wilson and Dicky Windham.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, May 26, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Rosehill cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.
Ann Gilbreath
Odessa - Ann Gilbreath, 65, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2006 at her residence after a short illness.
She was born May 25, 1941 in Plainview, TX.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Lamesa, TX at Lamesa Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa, Tx.
Survivors Husband, Bill Gilbreath of Odessa, Tx.; sons, Barry Gilbreath and wife Kathalyn of Ruidoso, N.M., Cody Gilbreath and wife Pam of Odessa, Tx.; daughter, Gina Mize and husband Bill of Brownwood, Tx.; sister, Wanda Henderson of Lubbock, Tx.; brother, Gaylen Bishop and wife Johnnie of San Antonio, Tx.; five grandchildren; Ginger, Harvey, Jimmy Newton, Toby and Corky Gilbreath; four grat-grandchildren, Aliea, Jessie, Baily and Christian.
She will be missed dearly by her loving family and her dear friends.

Eddie W. Baker
Odessa - Eddie W. Baker went to be with the Lord May 25th, 2006. He was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on February 5th, 1931 to Ernest and Annadell Baker.
Eddie served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He married
Jackie Jameson on December 28th, 1953. Eddie worked for A.W. Thompson and retired in 1993 from Marks Crane.
Mr. Baker is survived by Jackie, his wife; two daughters, Carol and her husband Steve Henderson; Linda and her husband Kenneth Parisher all of Odessa; five grandchildren, one step-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Contributions, in his memory, may be made to Northside Baptist Building Fund or Star Care Hospice.
A come and go visitation will be held on Saturday May 27th, 2006 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Baker will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 27th, 2006 at Northside Baptist Church, in Odessa, TX, with Reverend Clydell Chapman officiating.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 29th, 2006 at Stag Creek cemetery, in Comanche, TX.

Sandra Renee Lopez
Odessa - Sandra Renee Lopez passed through the “Gates Of Heaven” at 2:20 am, Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the age of 43. Mrs. Lopez fought a long and courageous battle while on this earth and will be sorely missed by Family and Friends.
Sandra was born to William and Patricia Ingram, in Sardis, MS. on March 30, 1963. In 1981, Sandra married
Filberto Lopez. From that union, 3 children were born, two sons, Phillip and Daniel, and one daughter, Jennifer.
Mrs. Lopez will always be remembered as a devoted, daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her family and friends, her children and grandchildren were her life.
She enjoyed flowers and nature. Her loving heart, generous spirit and kindness will always be cherished, forever.
Sandra was in retail sales for over 20 years, and has been a resident in Odessa for over 26 years.
Sandra leaves behind, her Husband, Filberto Lopez, three children, Daniel, Phillip and wife, Vanessa, and Jennifer Lopez, all from Odessa. Her grandchildren, Allysa, Phillip, Jr., Arianna & Kaly Lopez, Nathan Carrillo and also one grandchild on the way. Her parents, Bill & Patricia Ingram, of Seagoville, Texas, her grandparents, William Sr. and Patsy Ingram of Dallas, Texas, her Father-in-law, Marcos Lopez of Odessa. Also left behind are, two brothers, Dewayne and his wife, Evelyn, of Rowlett, Texas, Randy and his wife, Pat of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Joyce Evans and her husband Bud, of Odessa, Beverly Bryant and her husband Jessie, of Seagoville, Texas and Regina Knott of Abilene. Sandra also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
When I must leave you for a little while, Please do not grieve and shed wild tears, and hug your sorrow to you through the years. But..... start out bravely with a gallant smile; and for my sake and in my name, live on and do all things the same, Feed not your loneliness, on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways, reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; and never be afraid to die, for I am waiting for you in the sky.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and friendly gestures throughout this difficult time. Your prayers and friendship will always be appreciated and remembered.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am, Saturday, May 27th at Acres West Funeral Chapel, with Raul Puente officiating.

Bertha Lee Paige
Odessa - Bertha Lee Paige, 78, passed away Friday, May 26, 2006 at Hospice House in Odessa.
Graveside services will be 11:00 Saturday, May 27, at Trinity Memorial Park cemetery in Big Spring with Rev. Freddy Steen officiating.
Bertha was born December 1, 1927 in Childress, Texas to Henry and Gracie (Wagner) Paige.
She is preceded in death by daughter Gloria Price, her parents, brother Jerry Paige and sister Sudie McNew.
She is survived by her husband Bill Craven of Odessa; son Keenan Craven of Odessa; daughters Britnee Craven and Dustee Craven both of Odessa, brothers Henry Paige and wife Verla of Sand Springs, James Paige and wife Jimmie of Mineral Wells; sisters Ruth Steen and husband Bill of Odessa, Sue Day and husband Thomas of Gardendale, Rita Bailey of Odessa; brother-in-law Jake McNew of Gardendale; sister-in-law Shirley Paige of Sand Springs; grandchildren Shana Glasgow and Scott Price.
Bertha will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Mary Helen Key Cypert
Odessa - Mary Helen Key Cypert, passed away on June 1, 2006, in Odessa, Tx. She was born April 23, 1926, in San Angelo, Tx to Mary and James Key. The Key family moved from McCamey to Odessa in 1939. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1942 and married
John Logan of Rawlings, Wyoming that year. Together they had one son, John Key Logan. Mary Helen attended TCU and then graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1945 with a BA in History.
She began her teaching career at Ector County ISD in 1949. Six years later she entered the mortgage banking business with her father, Jim Key.
She married
E.O. (Cy) Cypert on April 22, 1967, and returned to teaching for another 22 years. After her husband’s retirement from Gulf Oil, they owned the Candy Store in Winwood Mall and later Smuggler’s Imports. This store plus her teaching World History encouraged them to indulge their interests in foreign travel with many trips to Europe, Asia and North Africa. When Mary Helen retired from teaching in 1990, they sold their businesses and continued to travel.
Mary Helen was a member of Odessa Study Club and Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. On May 6, 2006 at the Women’s Congregational Meeting, she was honored with “Honorary Life Membership” in the Presbyterian Church, USA.
She is survived by her husband Cy, her son John Key Logan and wife Jo Lynn, her stepdaughter Cyd Berry, and her stepson Vince Cypert, all of Odessa. She leaves three grandchildren: John Key Logan Jr. and wife Mary of Pittsfield, MA; Marcus K. Logan and wife Erin of Arlington, Tx; and James K. Logan of Odessa; four step-grandchildren, all of Odessa; two great grandsons: Jacob K. Logan and Gabriel K. Logan.
She is also survived by a brother, James Shields Key and wife Dona of Medford, OR, and three nieces: Candace Key of San Rafael, CA; Lori Key Becker of Springfield, MA; Sally Key of High Point, NC, and one nephew, Philip Shields Key of Portland, OR.
A memorial will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 3rd with Rev. Bob Sams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church or the Ector County Library- AV Department.

Bill Royce Swinney
Odessa - Bill Royce Swinney, 76, of Odessa passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born March 18, 930 in Canton, TX to Owen & Odessa Luttrell Swinney. He married
Doris Buchanan January 18, 1952 in Midland. Mr. Swinney was a self employed carpenter and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Swinney of Odessa, son, Royce D. Swinney of Odessa, daughters, Sicrita Dell Stahlman & husband Rex of Odessa, LaTanya Dean Barber & husband Steve of Camarillo, CA, brothers, Donald Reese Swinney & wife Neoma of Odessa, Owen LaDwayne Swinney & wife Viola of Paris, AR, (3) grandchildren & (3) great-grandchildren.
There will be family visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.

James Kellam (J. K.) Colquitt
San Angelo - James Kellam (J. K.) Colquitt, 84, died peacefully June 3, 2006 at his residence in San Angelo, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on June 5, 2006 in the Marfa, Texas cemetery. The services will be directed by Johnson’s Funeral Home of San Angelo and a brother in Christ, John Kidd of Odessa will be officiating.
Mr. Colquitt was born on November 5, 1921 in Marfa, TX to Will Kellam Colquitt and Leota Gillett Colquitt. His maternal grandfather was Captain James B. Gillett, famous Texas Ranger and author of “Six Years with the Texas Rangers”. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful dad and granddad. He had lived in San Angelo for 19 years.
Mr. Colquitt was truly a member of “The Greatest Generation” which was so eloquently chronicled by Tom Brokaw in his book by the same name. He was a product of the Great Depression, a decorated World War II pilot and an entrepreneur who helped to build our country after the war. He attended the A&M College of Texas but quit his sophomore year and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army Air Forces where he became a pilot and was a member of the Ninth Air Force and the 416th Bombardment Group. He flew the A-20 and A-26 attack bombers and successfully completed 65 missions over Europe beginning immediately after D-Day. After the war he owned and operated the Wilson Motor Company in Ozona. He later spent many years with The Western Company in Odessa and Rankin, TX and in 1966 purchased a Gulf Oil service station in Crane, TX where he was the proprietor for over 13 years. Mr. Colquitt finished his career as a drilling and completion consultant in the oil industry and retired to San Angelo in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Will Milton (Shorty) Colquitt, his stepfather, Lee Wilson, his stepsister, Melba Beeman and his stepbrother Woodrow Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Piper Colquitt of San Angelo, two sons, Kellam and wife Emily of Plano, TX, Jay and wife Constance of Lake Buchanan, TX; three grandsons, Jim and wife Buffi of Houston, TX, Jason of Austin TX and Douglas of Dallas, TX; two granddaughters, Juliana Colquitt Harbig and her husband Björn of Lingen, Germany and Tanja Colquitt of Meppen, Germany; one nephew, Milton Ketchum and wife Patti of Moro, Oregon and one stepsister, Irma Lee Smentek and her husband Bill of Granite Shoals, TX.
Mr. Colquitt enjoyed the outdoors ever since his youth where he spent time on his grandfather’s and his uncle’s ranches in west Texas and New Mexico. He became an avid fisherman, golfer, photographer and hunter but was also interested in technology. He was fascinated with cameras, electronic calculators and in his 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s computers, which he used on a daily basis. During his time in Rankin, Mr. Colquitt was an active leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
While in Rankin and Crane Mr. Colquitt was a member of the United Methodist Church and since moving to San Angelo has been a member of the First Christian Church.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. David Harvey for his wonderful care and council throughout the last 10 years; in every respect he added 10 good years to the life of our husband, dad, granddad, uncle and brother. The family would also like to express their appreciation for the kindness and gentleness shown by Hospice of San Angelo and TLC In Home Care during the last days of Mr. Colquitt’s life.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association.
Robert Marshall Dawson Jr.
Monahans - Robert Marshall Dawson Jr., 49, of Monahans; died June 2, 2006, at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans.
Services are scheduled for 4 pm Monday June 5, 2006 at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Monahas Memorial Cemetary.
Mr. Dawson was born September 20, 1956, in Seminole, Texas to Robert Marshall Dawson Sr. and Mary Williams. Mr. Dawson was a graduate of Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and was a certified Harley-Davison Mechanic. He worked as an oilfield electrician.
Mr. Dawson is survived by: one daughter, Sheena Dawson of Andrews, Texas; two sons, Robert Dawson and Steven Dawson, both of Monahans, Texas; his parents, Robert Sr. and Mary Dawson of Monahans, Texas; three sisters, Sherri Burkhalter and husband Robert of Pampa, Texas, Jackie Ponder and husband Bill of Anna, Texas, Beverly Berry and husband Steve of Monahans, Texas; two daughters in law, Renee Dawson and Diane Dawson; one son in law, Michael Scheller, six grandchildren, Tanner Brown, Destiny Dawson, Kameron Dawson, Rylan Dawson, Colton Cummins, Darren Dawson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.
