Odessa - Alex Duarte 25 of Odessa passed away Saturday April 15, 2006 following a tragic accident in San Angelo, Texas. He was born October 26, 1980 in Cd. Juarez Chihuahua Mexico to Mario Quezada and Leticia Duarte. He was a Christian Catholic and a Truck Driver. He is Survived by Wife: Hilda Duarte, Sons: Nathan and Alex Duarte Jr., Daughter: Rachel Duarte, Father: Mario Quezada, Mother: Leticia Duarte, all of Odessa, Grandmother: Bertha Quezada of Cd. Juarez Chihuahua Mx. Brother: Miguel Duarte and wife Criselda, Sister: Gaby Duarte and Husband: Leo of Odessa, Two Nieces: Briana and Yanira, Several: Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Lots of Friends. Debra Ann Parke Fundyk
Mountain Home, Ark. - Debra Ann Parke Fundyk, age 26, of Mountain Home, died Saturday, April 15, 2006. She was born April 16, 1979, in Alpine, Texas, to Daniel R. and Ann Marie Nelson Parke. On May 5, 2001, she married
Jason Fundyk in Alpine, Texas. Mrs. Fundyk was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a minister and homemaker, and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors are: her husband: Jason Fundyk: of the home; a son: Gavin Alexander Fundyk: of the home; parents: Dan and Ann Marie Parke: Ft. Stockton, Texas; sister: Kelly Ann Parke: Ft. Stockton; grandfathers: David Parke, Sr.: Ft. Stockton; and George Nelson, Sr.: Aransas Pass, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Daniel A. and Karen Fundyk: Lakeview, Arkansas; and many other family and friends.
Private family graveside services will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will be at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 22, 2006, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mountain Home with Minister Cliff Prough officiating.

C.M. ‘Tony’ Knott
Midland - C.M. “Tony” Knott, of Midland, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006 in Midland, Texas.
He was born August 22, 1935 in Wendell, North Carolina, to Clellie and Caleb A. Knott. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Tony proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant from 1952 until 1956. After proudly serving his country and marriage to his wife Joyce on August 4, 1956 in Rowena, Texas, Tony worked as an electrician in San Angelo, Texas for several years. After settling in Midland, they started a family and lived out their lives together. In 1971, Tony opened Tex-Mex Meter Service, Inc. an oil field service company that he operated until his death.
Tony’s legacy will be carried on by his family and friends. He will forever be remembered for his kindness and generosity. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Joyce, and brother, Carl T. Knott.
Tony is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Melissa Knott, two grandchildren, Caleb and Carson Knott, all of Midland, TX; sisters, Alice K. Richardson of Portland, OR; and Martha J. Wilson of Odessa, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.
A prayer vigil will be held at Ellis Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 7:00 P.M.

Hilda Valtierra Rodriguez
Odessa - Hilda V. Rodriguez 57 of Odessa, passed away Friday April 14, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born May 24, 1948 in Mexico City, Mexico to Jose Valtierra and Bernarda Gomez. She was a Christian and a homemaker. Her parents and sons, Arturo and Rey Rodriguez preceded her in death. She is survived by her Life Partner: Reyes Rodriguez Sons: Oscar Rodriguez and Omar Rodriguez, Daughters: Patricia Romero and Hilda Rodriguez all of Odessa, Sisters: Lourdes Valtierra, Estella Valtierra and Maday Valtierra all of Mexico City, Mexico grandchildren; Michael Rodriguez, Reyna Rubio, Jessica Romero, Cristian Rubio, Yvonne Rodriguez, Arturo Rodriguez, great grandchildren; Cristian and Christopher Rodriguez. A Rosary was recited at 7 pm Monday April 17, 2006 at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Bill E. Wright
Odessa - Bill E. Wright, 78, of Odessa passed away Friday, April 14, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born October 21, 1927 in Olney, Texas. He graduated from Bryson High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. Bill graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1951 with a bachelor of science degree in business. He received a master of business administration in management from UTPB in 1978.
He began working for Continental Emsco Company and retired after 41 years as senior sales representative from LTV Energy Products in Midland. After retirement he started Bill E. Wright Consulting Service and began a close association with friends at Williams Oil Company.
He married
Mary Green on August 16, 1953 in Eden, Texas. Five years later, Bill and Mary had their only child Lyn in Abilene, Texas.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary of Odessa; his daughter Lyn Roberts and her husband Doug of Odessa; his granddaughter Jennifer Ross and her husband Jonathan of Spring, Texas, and a great grandson due in June; his granddaughter Laura Roberts of Abilene, Texas; his sister Bobbie Jo Peterson and husband Don of Loving, Texas; two nieces, Donnett Peterson Wiley and husband Jimmy and their sons Pete & Pal; Tiffany Peterson Stone and her children Lacey Duke & Bobby Stone, and two nephews, Joe Green and Ray Green.
He was preceded in death by his father Ed Wright and his mother and stepfather Lena and Raymond Andrews.
He enjoyed an active lifestyle including: travel, exercise at MCH Cardiac Rehab, story-telling, sports, times of worship with his church family at Sixth and Jackson Church Of Christ. He loved and appreciated time spent with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ with Roy Smalling officiating. Burial will be at Loving Community cemetery in Young County at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
Pallbearers are Richard Williams, Tom Williams, Mark Solari, Gary Armstrong, Fred Petty, Charles Reeves and Tom Kennedy.

Robert Xavier Billups
Midland - Robert Xavier Billups, of Midland, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Born November 2, 1943 in Corpus Christi to Andrew X. and Dorothy Faye Capehart Billups, Bob was raised across the state but attended high school in Monahans and Seminole. He followed his father’s footsteps into the oil fields, working both stateside, overseas and on the seas with various oil companies since 1962. Bob traveled extensively around the world while living and working in such interesting places as Scotland, Libya, Spain, Malta, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Somalia, Singapore, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Argentina, Chile, Australia, Haiti and Saudi Arabia. He had resided in Midland for many years and was well known locally for his years of work around the oil fields of West Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. Bob met his sweetheart Faye King at their 25th Monahans High School reunion and they were married
in 1988. Faye quickly became Bob’s devoted travel companion. Bob was proud to work for Global Santa Fe International in Houston, and at the time of his passing had been working on the Gulf Coast of Texas on off-shore oil rigs damaged during last year’s hurricane season. His work on the Gulf Coast was finished this past week and Bob and his wife Faye were looking forward to a new adventure in Singapore and a following retirement.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Faye, one son Michael Billups, and two daughters, Lori and husband Scott Steel and Brenda and husband Randy Wilson. He also left two dear sisters Nancy McKinney and Beverly and husband Bill Parnell, 11 grandchildren, numerous family members, great friends the world over and his dear Dallas Cowboys.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Kelview Heights Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Bob would be happy that the very best of his friends and family are to see him off as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers: Rick Parnell, Larry Parnell, Armando Subia, Don Blair, Bill Childress, Bill Bush, Dennis Page, Ed Fredericks, Fred Coonce, Phil Philpy, Randy Matthews and Richard Counts. William Wayne Brightman
Odessa - William Wayne Brightman, 50 of Odessa passed away Saturday April 15, 2006. He was born in Odessa, Tx on June 30, 1955.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Carrie Lynn Brightman and three sons, Timothy and wife Elizabeth, Wesley and girlfriend Stephanie Ward, and John Walter, and two daughters, Rebecca and husband Walker Walz and Olivia Lyn Brightman.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Local Church located at 2224 W. Interstate 20, Odessa, Tx.

Teodora Olivas ‘Dora’ Lujan
Odessa - Teodora Olivas “Dora” Lujan 94 of Odessa beloved mother and grandmother went bo be with her Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday April 16, 2006. Born on April 1, 1912 in Shafter Texas to Cornelio Olivas and Jesusita Matinez. She married
Andres Lujan. Through her career she was a domestic worker, cleaned Dr’s offices and at one time owned and operated the Odessa Cafe on Magnolia St. The first of five generations has gone and left an empty void in our hearts. Known as Mommy Dora to all her grandchildren she opened her heart and home to all. She always made sure to feed anyone who showed up (expected or unexpected) and no one left her house hungry. She blessed so many people and she also made sure to bless all who left her house. We will all miss her prayers blessing and most of all her generosity and great food. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, (Sonny) grandson (Rofie Hernandez, brothers, (Manuel, Salome and Antonio Olivas) sisters; (Damasia Hernandez, Paula Olivas Merecilda Martinez and Ofelia Gonzales). Living to cherish her memories are daughters; Alicia Muniz and husband Albert of Monahans, Ida (Chita) Hernandez and husband Issac (Chavelo) of Dallas, Melba Sue Lujan Lara and husband Tony of Midland, sister; Alicia Frausto and husband Luis of Hobbs, NM. 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren. Katie M. Nichols
Odessa - Katie M. Nichols, 29, of Odessa, passed away Monday, April 17, 2006, at United Medical Center in Lubbock.
Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday April 20, 2006, at Odessa Christian Faith Center.
Katie is survived by Tony Aguilar of Odessa; son, Isaiah Hinojos of Odessa; mother, Brenda K. Nuņez of Odessa; father, Larry R. Nichols of Tuscon, Ariz.; brothers, Corky Nuņez, Rocky Nuņez and Joaquin Dominguez Jr., all of Odessa; grandparents, Frank G. Nuņez of Fort Stockton and Pancho and Elena Acosta of Hobbs, N.M.; and uncle Rudy Nuņez and wife Diane of Fort Stockton. She is also survived by several nephews, one niece, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by Carolina M. Nuņez.
Per her request she ask that her body be donated to Medical Science for further research and cure for lupus.
Beverly S. Rice
Big Spring - Beverly S. Rice, 63, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, April 16, 2006, in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Ralph Anderson, minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
She was born on January 23, 1943, in Berkeley, California.
Beverly had lived in Big Spring most of her life. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1961 and received an Associate of Arts degree from Howard College. She worked for the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center for 30 years retiring as Chief Health Information Management Section.
She enjoyed reading and loved to travel. She was a member of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ and of TOPS.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, DeLloyd and Mildred Hooser of Big Spring; one sister, Brenda Mercer of Midland; two nephews, David Mercer and wife, Virginia and Britt Mercer and wife, Joely all of Odessa; two nieces, Kristy Galvan and husband, Theo of Morton, and Kaci Hooser of Ft. Worth.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carolyn Hooser.

Odessa - Retta Pierce 48 of Odessa, passed away April 16, 2006 at her residence. She was born February 10, 1958 in Lamesa, Texas to parents Eddie Pierce & Lena Mae Rogers. She was a cashier at Town & Country. Visitation will be held today, April 19, 2006 from 9am to 9pm at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels. David ‘Tattoo Dave’ Verlander
Odessa - David Mitchell “Tattoo Dave” Verlander, age 45, passed away Friday evening, April 14, 2006 in Odessa. He was born Sunday, November 27, 1960 in Catskill, NY to Donald Michael and Margaret Jane (Spaulding) Verlander.
Dave was a man who loved telling jokes and being the jokester, but, there was a softer side to Tattoo Dave; one who had a big heart and tried to help and donate to charities. He enjoyed fishing, playing the piano and singing and was a devoted Jackalope Hockey fan, who could be heard by all. He attended the Agape Dream Center.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are wife, Janice Verlander of Odessa, one son, David Alan Verlander of Odessa; two daughters; Beth Ann Verlander of Odessa and Raegan Verlander of Pittsburgh, PA; his mother, Margaret Jane Verlander of Stuart, FL; one brother; Donald M. Verlander of Farmersville, TX; three sisters, Denise M. Verlander and Diane M. Jimenez both of San Antonio and Donna M. Earsley of Jensen Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his father.
