Odessa - Lola Mae Dunn 91, of Odessa passed away Friday, March 24, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at College Mound cemetery in Terrell, Texas.
She was born Kaufman County, Texas on December 5, 1914 to George and Alice (Yarbrough) Aires.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Dunn and her son Joe K. Dunn.
She is survived by her daughter Jackie Hoskins of Odessa; five grandchildren Steve Bovee, Seresa Arndt, Jamie Williams, John Hoskins Jeffery Hoskins; four great grandchildren Cam Ogden, Maggie Ogden, Ryan Bovee and Hunter Williams.

Janet Sue Karr
Odessa - Janet Sue Hodgkiss Karr lost her battle with breast cancer Sunday, March 26, 2006 in Waco, Texas. She was 63 years old. Jan was born on September 29, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Lloyd L. and Tommye Hodgkiss. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and cherished friend. She married
Roy F. “Sonny” Karr III on June 6, 1964 beginning her life in Odessa. She was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Hodgkiss and her husband, Sonny. She is survived by her children Roy and Sarah Karr of Waco, TX, Kevin and Kathy Cox of Maple Valley, WA, her grandchildren, Franklin and Michael Karr and Jackson, Grace, Madeline and Walker Cox, her mother Tommye L. Hodgkiss of Irving, TX, her brothers John Hodgkiss and wife Merry, Bill Hodgkiss and wife Leslie of Irving, TX, her brother in law Richard Karr and wife Collette of Waco, and 13 nieces and nephews.
Jan was an Irving High School graduate and graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Education as an English Major, president of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and member of Baylor Acappella Choir. Making a profession of faith at an early age she became a member of First Baptist Church of Odessa immediately after moving to town in 1964. For over 40 years she was actively and cheerfully involved in the Music Ministry where her love of music and drama thrived. She was also a member of Odessa Junior League. She was an outstanding teacher in the Ector County Independent School District for over 33 years and a member of Who’s Who among American High School teachers. She coached the State Champion Academic Decathlon teams at Odessa High School where she was also a beloved Advanced Placement English teacher.
Her favorite hobbies were spending time with her children, grandchildren and precious friends. She loved to go fishing, scrapbook and play bridge anytime and anywhere.
Above all, her legacy of faith and love will continue to live in not only her children and grandchildren, but also all those with whom she came in contact.
A memorial service will be held in Jan’s honor at First Baptist Church of Odessa on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Consuelo Machuca
Odessa - Consuelo M. Machuca, 67, of Odessa, died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born February 2, 1939, in Terlingua, Texas to Jose and Maria Isabel Molinar. Survivors include, husband, Manuel Machuca of Odessa; daughters, Blanca Longoria and her husband Otimio Jr., Rose Mary Baca and husband Eric, Nancy Machuca, all of Odessa; son, Victor Lopez of Odessa; sister, Esperanza Grado of Fort Stockton; brothers, Cruz Molinar of Odessa and Adolfo Molinar of San Mateo, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said 7 p.m.on Tuesday at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Josephs Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Rocky Longoria, Nick Longoria, Stephen Hernandez, Oscar Bueno, Greg Machucha, Guadalupe Alvarez. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.

Lila Masters
Monahans - Lila Masters, 93 of Midland, passed away on March 26, 2006, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Monahans Memorial cemetery in Monahans, Texas, with Pastor Waymon Swopes officiating.
She was born August 16, 1912 in Mexia, Texas to William and Josie Mays. In 1928, she married
Murdock Masters, he preceded her in death in 1958.
She was a past member of the Eastern Star and Rebecca’s. Lila was a member of Parker Heights First Christian Church in Odessa and has taught Sunday school there. Lila was known for her Christmas decorations and enjoyed hand crafts and embroidery. She loved pets and especially children. Ms. Masters was a friend to all.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bob & Brenda Masters of Midland; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene & Williard Gunter of Midland; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Masters of Odessa, eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Marion Masters and Jack Masters, and her husband.

Odessa - Frances Ray Palomino 40 years of age passed away Friday March 24, 2006 at her residence in Odessa. She was born March 22, 1966 in Alpine, TX to parents Ray Sanchez and Frances L. Martinez. Visitation will be held today from 9 Am to 10 PM at the funeral home, with a rosary said at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels with Fr. Norma Jean Bryce
Odessa - Norma Jean Bryce, 73, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Alliance Hospital. She was born January 14, 1933 in Albany, Oklahoma to Fred & Velma Johnson. She married
James W. Bryce January 2, 1984 in Lovington, N.M.
Norma was a member of 1st United Methodist Church in Goldsmith and later at the 1st United Methodist Church in Odessa. She was involved in Little League and all the programs that her children were involved in. Her children and husband were her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband, James Bryce of Odessa, daughter, Vickie Hurt and husband Jay of Weatherford, sons, Benny Thomas and wife Susan of Lubbock, J. W. Bryce and wife Kathy of Odessa, Patrick Bryce & wife Patty of Greenwood, Ryan Bryce of Odessa, brothers, Bill Johnson of Dallas, Ray Johnson of Durant, OK., Ben Johnson of Mabank, sisters, Fern Maddera of Levelland, Claudia Hamilton of Oklahoma city, Karen Swindle of Dallas, (6) grandchildren, Haylie Huffman, Ashlie Thomas, Amy Hurt, Angie Hurt Pasternak, Jaymie Hurt & Ashley Bryce, (4) great-grandchildren, Trace Huffman, Caleb Branum, Sophie Pasternak & Helen Pasternak.

James “Ham” Hamilton
PECOS - James “Ham” Hamilton was born on September 26, 1923 to Milton and Eunice Hamilton in Loraine, Texas.
He moved with his family to Pecos at an early age. An outstanding football player, he graduated Pecos High School in 1941. He joined the navy and served as a Gunner’s Mate, Second Class aboard the U.S.S. Tennessee. He married
Francis Holloway Alge in 1946.
He was a member of the city council, a volunteer fireman for 28 years and owner of Chevron and Exxon service stations. He was a member of the West Park Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. An avid golfer, devoted friend and dedicated father and grandfather, he touched many lives.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Hamilton of Pecos; son, Bill Hamilton of Brownwood; daughter, Jean Ruffo of San Antonio; daughter, Jane Maney of Odessa; and daughter, LuAnn Leatham of Pine Grove, California. He is also survived by his seven sisters: Louise White of Monahans; Lucille Tilly of Christoval; JoPatillo of Pecos; Doris Kiplinger of San Antonio; Wanda Hayes of Midland; Dolores Walker of Midland and Evelyn Conine of Midland. He had numerous nieces and nephews, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 2 PM, at West Park Baptist Church in Pecos with Ray Carreon, J.E. McCormick and family officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen cemetery.

Linda Fierro
Odessa - Linda Fierro of Odessa, Texas, passed away Thursday March 30th, 2006 at the age of 50 after a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was born in Alpine, Texas on November 18th, 1955 to Jose Angel Fierro and Ramona Bustamante. Linda was the second child of four born to Jose and Ramona. They were one brother and three sisters. Linda was the oldest of the girls. She was preceded in death by her father in 1990.
Linda graduated from Ector High School in 1974 and attended Odessa College and completed her CDA, Child Development Associate. Linda loved to work with children and worked at several Child Care Facilities in Odessa and Midland. Primarily she worked as a pre-school teacher at The Village School in Midland.
Linda was known by family and friends as an energetic and happy person, full of life who enjoyed cooking and crafting. Her greatest joy was that of being a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed tremendously the precious time she was given to enjoy with her grandson.
She is survived by her daughter Francheska Trinette Fierro and grandson Keith Bernard Givens II of Houston, Texas; mother, Ramona Fierro of Odessa, Texas; sisters, Precilia Fierro of Houston, Texas, Laura Hernandez of Midland, Texas; brother Joe Fierro of McKinney, Texas. Nephews and Nieces Amanda Mack of Tucson Arizona, Joe Marion Fierro and Joleandra Cooks of Houston Texas, Joe Fierro III, Edward Hernandez and Diana Hernandez of Odessa Texas.
Visitation will be held today from 9am to 10pm & Sunday from 1pm to 10 pm. Rosary Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2nd, 2006 at Martinez & Smith Chapels. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 3rd, 2006 at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Father Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Dorothy Coe Evans
CRANE - Dorothy Coe Evans, 90 of Crane, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2006 in the Mabee Health Care Center in Midland.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006 in the Crane County cemetery with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Mrs. Evans was born on September 1, 1915 in Los Animas, Colorado. She was a resident of Crane since 1936. She was a retired bookkeeper and clerk for the Crane Lumber and Hardware, and a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Dorothy loved to camp and she made friends all across the United States and Canada. She was a wonderful soul who opened her home to everyone.
She helped numerous young men by providing a home for the summer which allowed them the opportunity to pay their college education.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Coe and Helen Rosecrants Coe; her husband, Howard B. Evans; her son, Jerald “Jerry” Coe Evans; two sisters, Frances Bale, and Margaret Watkins.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Terri Coe Evans-Barner of Brownwood; and a great grandson, Alex Coe Barner of Brownwood; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial can be made to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane, Texas.
Dorothy Marie Bentley
Odessa - Dorothy Marie Bentley passed away Thursday, March 30th, 2006 at her residence in Odessa, Texas.
Dorothy was born August 7th, 1949 to John Lee Shelton and Lue Icy (Cornett) Shelton in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. Dorothy attended Permian High School in Odessa and married
Phillip Bentley on December 9th, 2002 in Odessa where they raised their family as well. Phillip predeceased Dorothy after 34 years of marriage on February 9th, 2002.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons; Wayne Bentley and wife Sherry of Odessa; Richie Bentley and wife Sarah of Bridgeport, Texas; grandchildren, Kody Bentley, Sarah Bentley, Ryan Bentley, Jayson Bentley and Ricky Bentley. She is also survived by her brothers; Howard Shelton and wife Eleanor of Midland, Texas; Robert Shelton and wife Louise of Odessa; Ed Shelton and wife Dian of Odessa; William Shelton and wife Roberta of Oak Harbor, Washington.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society (811 Central Dr., Odessa, TX 79761) with funds to be directed to Breast Cancer Research.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 3rd, 2006, with Reverend Don Swindell presenting the eulogy.
