MIDLAND - Virdie Thomason, 86, a retired Midland Independent School District food service employee, died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center of Midland.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Midland with the Rev. Dr. James Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
She was born in Wetumka, Okla., and was a resident of Kansas before moving to Midland in 1952. She was a member of the Church of God.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Dillard Thomason of Denver, Colo., Willard Thomason of Ulysses, Kan., Tommy Thomason of Odessa and Milford Thomason of Midland; daughter, Frances Betterton of Greenwood; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

ODESSA - John Henry Burks Jr., 71, died Friday, March 7, 1997. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Rosehill cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Dennis officiating. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
He was born in Caldwell and attended Agape Ministries.

He was born in Rock City, Ala., and moved to Andrews in 1967 from Winfield, Ala. He was Pentecostal.

He was born in May and lived in Abilene for two years. He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.

He was born in Eliasville and was a resident of Odessa before moving to Cedar Park. He was a Methodist.
