Gertrude Lowe Bynum
Monahans - Gertrude Lowe Bynum, age 87, of Duncanville passed away February 3, 2006 in Duncanville. She was born May 2, 1918 in Sandia, Texas to Lois and Oscar Machen. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam W. Lowe and Cecil M. Bynum. She is survived by her son, Larry R. Lowe and his wife, Mary of Duncanville, her daughter, Carolyn Ward and her husband, Ted of McKinney, four grandchildren, Laurie Lowe and her husband, Carl Gudenius of Alexandria, Virginia, Sam Lowe and his wife, Penny of Keller, Joel Ward and his wife Amanda of Providence Village, and Tim Ward and his wife, Melisa of McKinney, six great grandchildren, Cameron and Molly Lowe of Keller, Brenden and Allison Ward of Providence Village, and Arturo and Jayda Ward of McKinney, three sisters, Katherine O’Neill, Maurine Davis and her husband Bill, all of Corpus Christi, and Marjorie Mills of Burleson, one brother-in-law, Jack Nixon of San Antonio, one sister-in-law, Hazel Machen of Woodville and many nieces and nephews and friends.
She graduated from high school in Pleasanton and received a B.S. in Education from Texas State Teachers College (now TWU) in Denton, Texas. She taught first grade in Monahans, Texas for 30 years. She was a life-time member of the Baptist Church, always joining and participating wherever she lived. She taught Sunday School most of her adult life from the children to the Senior Adults. She was known as “Grammy” to the many who loved her and will miss her.
Graveside Services for Gertrude Lowe Bynum will be in Monahans on Monday, February 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Monahans Memorial cemetery. Reverend Bill Smith, her nephew, will officiate. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 10, at 10:00 AM in Pleasanton at the First Baptist Church. Brother Bill Fowler will officiate. Mrs. Bynum will lie in state all day Sunday, Feb. 4 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville.
Opal Christeen Richburg
Opal Christeen Richburg, 92, passed away, Saturday, February 4th, 2006 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Opal was born March 29th, 1913 in Kaufman County, Texas, to Joseph Abram Collier and Tinnie Eilizabeth Barns. Opal worked as a clerk in variety stores in addition to raising her family.
Opal is predeceased by her husband Carmen Richburg; two sons; Mickey Richburg and T.D. Richburg, her grandson Duke Richburg and her five brothers.
Mrs. Richburg is survived by her three sons; James A. Richburg of Odessa, Texas; Gary Richburg and wife Judy of Roswell, New Mexico, Ron Richburg and wife Peggy of Roswell New Mexico; one daughter, Janie Coats and husband Harold of Carlsbad, New Mexico; and one brother, Robert Collier of Odessa. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren; Trent Richburg and Troy Richburg of Odessa, Texas; Jennifer McDonald of Anchorage, Alaska; Carlton Richburg of Brazoria, Texas; LaTisha Volguardsen, of Roswell New Mexico; Jason Richburg of Phoenix, Arizona; Tiffany Arthur of Coppers Cove, Texas; Kindel Shumard of Alamagordo, New Mexico; Kristie Moser, of West Minister, Colorado; Nathan Richburg, Nick Richburg, Kara Richburg, all of Roswell, New Mexico; Shanna York and Shaye Doyal both of Carlsbad, New Mexico, as well as 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will have a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6th, 2006 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, in Odessa, Texas.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7th, in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Lynn Money officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Alfleta Alexander
Odessa - Alfleta Alexander 81 of Odessa passed away Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday in the Frank Wilson Chapel with Rev. Emmett Barnard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Alfleta Alexander was born June 13, 1924 in Hamilton, Texas to Bill and Allie (Dutton) Smith. She worked at the West Park Baptist Church Nursery for fifteen years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Alice Catherine Humble, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her loving family son Dwayne Humble of Odessa, daughters Kay Chambers of Odessa, Karon Safarov of Green River, Wyoming; brothers Charlie Smith of Lohn, Texas, Vernon Smith of San Angelo; sisters Jewel Jones of San Angelo, Willie Alexander of San Angelo, Faye Williams of San Angelo; grandchildren Jason Humble, Amy Delao, Nathan Parks, Dustin Parks, Tiffany Parks; great grandchildren Blake Humble, Jake Humble, Mandy Delao.

John “Frank” Brown
Odessa - John “Frank” Brown 77, of Odessa, Texas passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 5th, 2006.
Frank was born May 22nd, 1927 in Bogata, Texas to his parents Alfred and Beulah Brown, who preceded his death; his brothers, Fred, Leon, Jack and Bill Brown; Frank’s wife, Patricia Ann Charlton Brown, of 52 years, also preceded his death.
Mr. Brown worked for Phillips Pipeline for over thirty years, retiring in 1986.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Cindy Brown of Odessa and his sister, Marja Helen Kenworthy, of Tulsa Oklahoma, a foster daughter Eva Carrasco of Odessa, foster granddaughter Angle Carrasco. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Brown will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 9th, 2006, at Vine Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas with Johnny Touchstone officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Gene Arlen Davis
Odessa - Gene Arlen Davis, age 69, of Monahans passed away Friday, January 6, 2006 at Odessa Regency Hospital in Odessa.
He was born on March 5, 1936, in Lamar County, Mississippi to Prince Everett and Mattie (Slade) Davis. He married
Jean Williams on March 9, 1957 in Lovington, New Mexico. He was a retired Drill Foreman and pumper for Forest Oil Corporation.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at Grace Fellowship Church. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial cemetery with Reverend Mark Bristow officiating. Services are under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Davis of Monahans, and 2 sons, Paul David Davis and wife Janie, of Center, Alabama, and Randy Joe Davis and wife Mary, of Monahans. Also surviving him are sisters, Yvonne Claborn and husbnd Austin of Odessa, and Nell Scott of Michigan. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren,
Julie Hunter and husband Shane, James Davis and Michael Davis, and 1 great-granchild, Sarrah. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Prince Everett Davis and Mattie Slade Davis.
Cora Louise (Peggy) Jenkins
Odessa - Cora Louise (Peggy) Jenkins, 79, of Odessa, passed away, Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at her residence. She was born June 12, 1926, in Dallas to her parents, John Edwin and Nannie M. Van Sant.
Mrs. Jenkins married
Kenneth Dare Jenkins on August 19, 1942, in Odessa. He preceded her in death.
She was a wife and mother and traveled 18 years with her husband while in the U.S. Air Force. They retired to Odessa in 1960 becoming a member of Highland United Methodist Church. She was a United Methodist Women’s group officer and Church Women United President. At Highland UMC, she was part of the mentoring program helping children to read. She was a Girl Scout leader for 15 years. She was an original board member for Meals on Wheels and later was a volunteer delivering meals.
During the traveling years, at Castle Air Force Base, she was president of N.C.O. Wives Club in the 1950’s. At Travis ARB, she was in charge of Family Services. She also had the privilege of babysitting for Chuck Yaeger’s children.
Her survivors are her daughter Lola N. Lane of Dunn Loring, VA; and son, John D. Jenkins of Burleson, TX; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Family visitation will be Sunday, January 8, 2006, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
The Celebration of Life will be Monday, January 9, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Highland United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Scott officiating. A Private Burial will be at Rosehill cemetery.

Carmon Mildred Hopkins Parker
Odessa - Carmon Mildred Hopkins Parker 86, of Odessa passed away Saturday, January 7, 2006 at her home in Odessa.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at First Christian Church with Dr. David Mindel officiating. Burial will follow in Andrews, Texas.
Born to Thomas Gordon Hopkins and Carmon Estelle Jones Hopkins on December 12, 1919 in Lamar County, Texas. She graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1937. She graduated Paris Jr. College in1939 and graduated from North Texas Teaching College (Denton, Texas) in 1942. Her graduate work was done at University of Texas in Austin, in 1943. She taught school in Lamar County, Midland and Ector.
Mildred married
Alvin Horne Parker on June 2, 1946 in Paris, Texas at the First Baptist Church, but resided in Odessa, Texas. Here she raised three boys, Stephen Hopkins Parker, Timothy Horne Parker, and Jeffery Early Parker.
Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church and taught most ages in Sunday School, became a deaconess, and was President of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was on the building committees for the Chapel and Parlor additions in 1976.
She had been a member of TSTA Beta Sigma Phi, Jr. Service League, and Thursday Study Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hopkins, husband Alvin Horne Parker, and son Jeffrey Early Parker
She is survived by her sons Stephen H. Parker, wife Diane, and Timothy H. Parker, wife Cid. Grandchildren are Jarrett Parker, Alissa Parker, Jillian Parker, and Katelyn Parker, Sister, Gladys Reich of Odessa, Jimmie Crain of Paris, Texas and brother Fred Hopkins and wife Nell of Midland, Texas.
Memorial can be made to the ECISD Education Foundation, Ellen Noel Art Museum or Charity of Choice.

Odessa - Jesus Rodriguez, 51 years of age, passed away on January 6, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born on June 25, 1954 in Ojinaga, Mexico to Valentine and Enedina Rodriguez. He was a welder and a Catholic. He is survived by his wife Letty Rodriguez of Odessa, sons; Gabriel Rodriguez, Jesse Rodriguez, Joe Luis Rodriguez, Toribio Rodriguez and Jaime Rodriguez all of Odessa, daughter; Christy Ann Rodriguez of Odessa, parents; Valentine and Enedina Rodriguez of Odessa, brothers; Armando Rodriguez, Ismael Rodriguez, Israel Rodriguez Valetine Rodriguez Jr. and Frank Rodriguez all of Odessa, sisters Teresa Flores of Odessa, Sylvia Rodriguez and Janie Rodriguez all of Odessa. Grandchildren; Adrian, Fabian,Abraham, Jesslynn, Madalynn, Christopher, Jonathan, Nyel, Jose Luis Jr. Gysel, Alizah Alexis, Ebonie Leigh-Ann, Alexia Nicole, Abriana Marie and Aidan Josiah, and one step grandchild; Keeko. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. His Sons will service as pallbearers.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the church in Marfa with the Rev. Miguel Alcuiono officiating. Burial will be at Merced cemetery in Marfa. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.

DENVER CITY - Norma Opel Creek, 84, of Denver City, a homemaker, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Pioneer Nursing Center in Denver City.
