Sarah Elizabeth Jones
ODESSA - Sarah Elizabeth Jones went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
She was born on October 1, 1910 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to William and Martha Weaver. After losing both her parents in 1919 to the flu epidemic, she was adopted and raised by Carrie Boher in Boynton, OK. She graduated high school in Boynton and went on to college in Muskogee, OK., where she met and married
Silas Max Jones in August of 1933. Max preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Elizabeth and Max came to Odessa in 1937 from Jal, N.M. where they had lived a short time after leaving Oklahoma.
Elizabeth was a devout Christian and a long time member of Greenfield Acres Baptist Church in Odessa. She was also a registered substitute teacher in the ECISD school district and taught elementary grades in Goldsmith and Odessa. She also taught Sunday School classes at Greenfield Acres for many years.
Elizabeth is survived by two sons and one daughter, Selden Jones and wife Joy of Odessa, Jim Jones and wife Jolene of Odessa and Annell Hamman of Conroe, nine grandchildren, Bobbie Bollinger of Aurora, CO., Michelle Allen of Slidell, LA., Elizabeth Lazerine of Katy, TX., Robin Marble of Conroe, TX., Tommy Wesson of Odessa, Mike Jones of Grapevine, TX., Ronell O’Bryant of Clarksville, TN., Mary Houts and Susan Sellers both of Odessa. Also Elizabeth has 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Bartlett officiating.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Nell Manly
ODESSA - Nell Manly, of Midland and formally of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006.
She was born May 21, 1916 to Louie and Lucille LaPoe in Electra, Texas where she was raised and educated. She received her degree from North Texas State University and taught in the Ector County school system until her retirement in 1978. She had a lasting influence on many she taught.
She met and married
George Manly in 1943. Nell and George moved to Odessa in 1948 where they became involved in many varied activities. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a certified Parliamentarian, and had attained master’s points in duplicate bridge.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband, George, and is survived by her sons: George C. Manly of Midland, Texas; Scott H. Manly of New York City, New York; two granddaughters, Monica Dooley and Melanie Young of Savannah, Georgia; two great granddaughters, Laikin Dooley and Emily Young of Savannah, Georgia.
There will be a family visitation 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702 or the Permian Football Booster Club at Permian High School.

Hector Ramirez
ODESSA - Hector Ramirez, age 39, of Odessa, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Monday, October 10, 1966 in Ojinaga, Mexico to Daniel and the late Viviana (Bermudez) Ramirez. He was employed by Fence Supply and Construction of Odessa.
He leaves behind his wife Irma Baeza, three sons, Martin Machuca, Hector Eli Ramirez and Nikkow Ramirez all of California, one brother, Ricardo Ramirez, three sisters Maria Angela Ramirez, Irene Ramirez and Criselda Espinoza, his father, Daniel and his grandmother Guadalupe Ramirez all of Odessa.
Hector was preceded in death by his mother, Viviana Ramirez and his grandfathers Antonio Ramirez and Florentino Bermudez.
Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006, at Acres West Funeral Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Laurent Mvondo as celebrant.
Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.
Jason Wells
ODESSA - Jason Wells was born in Odessa on Aug. 28, 1978.
He went to be with the Lord on Feb. 21, 2006.
He spent the last 23 years in the loving care of Abilene State School.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Curt and Jane Schroeder.
He is survived by his mother Jan Wells, Uncle and Aunt Ron and Stacy Schroeder of Midland; “Special” Aunt Carole Jones of Lubbock; cousins, Jill Schroeder of Odessa, Brian Henderson of Lubbock; and his extended family in Abilene.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006.
In lieu of flowers a gift may be made to the Volunteer Services, Abilene State School, P.O. Box 451, Abilene, Texas 79604.
Pedro ‘Pete’ Carrasco
Odessa - Pedro ‘Pete’ Carrasco, age 96, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2006.
He was born June 29, 1909 to the late Santos and Blasa Carrasco.
He married
the former Josefa Martinez. Their years together were blessed with seven children. Pete was blessed with a long life and a large family whom he loved dearly.
Pete came from a large family of twelve children and was the sole Carrasco Family member survivor.
He lived most of his early years in Balmorhea, Texas where he farmed cotton along with two of his brothers. It was in Balmorhea that Pete and Josefa raised their family and enjoyed their life together until her passing on February 22, 1979. Pete was also preceded in death by his son, Tommy Carrasco in 1937.
Pete is survived by six children; Martha Lopez (and her late husband, Inez) of Odessa, Virginia Banegas and her husband, Jesus, of Monahans, Henry Carrasco and his wife Sally of Van Horn, Charlie Carrasco and his wife, Dora of Odessa, Elvira Dominguez and her husband, Cipriano of Odessa, and Rosa Nunez and her husband, Sammy of Odessa; 25 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was blessed with a long, happy life, surrounded by his loving family. Pete loved his God and always had a positive, caring and loving attitude toward life and his fellow man.
The Carrasco family wishes to extend a special thanks to Rhonda Thompson, Veronica Lopez, Socorro and all the staff from Odyssey Hospice. Chaplain Clay, Father Francis Frye from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Father Joe Uecker from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Father Gilberto Rodriguez from Virgin de Guadalupe in Midland and the staff from Parks Methodist Nursing Home for all their support.
Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Monday at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapel in Odessa.

Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ the King, Catholic Church in Balmorhea, Texas, with Fr. Manny Munoz, officiating.
Burial will be in the Saragosa cemetery in Saragosa, Texas under the direction of Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels of Odessa.
Pallbearers will be Jesus Banegas Jr., Richard Banegas, Andy Lopez, Jonathan Rodriguez, David Carrasco and Brandon Carrasco.
Noell Dean ‘Bubba’ Keith
MONAHANS - Noell Dean “Bubba” Keith, 78, of Odessa, passed away January 14, 2006 at Monahans Managed Care Center in Monahans, Texas.
Bubba was born January 13, 1928 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Cleo Dean “Buck” Keith and Rudy Mae Adams Keith. Both preceded him in death along with his wife Ruby May Keith.
Mr. Keith is survived by three brothers; Gene Keith and wife Sheelagh of Suisun City, California; Dale Keith and wife Emily of Bandera, Texas, and Bo Keith and wife Laura of Odessa, Texas; three sisters, Rose Preston of Kermit, Texas, Wanda Terry of Odessa, Texas and Toni James and sister-in-law Laurie Robbins of Odessa, Texas. His most adored niece and guardian angel Janie Neatherlin and husband Lonnie of Odessa, Texas, plus twenty-one other nephews and nieces; one step grandson, Mike Malloy of Paradise, California.
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Lyndell Robertson Juneau
Houston - Lyndell Robertson Juneau, 57, of Houston, Texas and formerly of Odessa, TX, passed away on January 6, 2006 to a kinder and happier next life.
Lyndell enjoyed growing up in Colorado Springs, CO, where she still has many friends. She lived in many places such as Odessa, TX and Papua New Guinea and settled in the Houston area several years ago. Lyndell “never met a stranger” and her family would like to thank all of those who have been her friend over the years.
She is survived by her only son, Derek Adams, wife Amy, and grandson Chase, of Houston, Texas; her sister, Marsha Robertson of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and her niece Andra Adams of San Diego, California.
Her most treasured things were her “boys”, son Derek, baby Chase and cats Dexter and Kirby. Lyndell’s love of her family, zest for life, generosity, fun and laughter will forever live in our hearts-we will miss you dearly.
Wayne Nichols
ODESSA - Wayne Nichols, 70, of Odessa, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital after a long battle with emphysema.
Wayne was born to W. E. and Estelle Nichols on November 11, 1935 in Midland County. He married
his lifetime love, Lena Marie Price on January 7, 1953. Wayne was a true West Texan.
He moved to Odessa in 1956. He loved his work; building, bidding and supervising the construction of highways. One cannot leave Odessa without traveling over a section of his talent. He also worked on the construction of the playing field at Ratliff Stadium and the very first streets of UTPB. In the last 15 years his activities have been limited to caring for his many pets and playing yahtzee with his family. Wayne also enjoyed woodworking and traveling. He was a Baptist and a 32nd degree Mason. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Marie Nichols of Odessa; two daughters, Tonya Harris of Yoakum, Texas, Donica Cole of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Johnnie Lou Servis of Matagorda, Texas: five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one niece and a nephew currently serving in Iraq.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at Odessa Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating.
Interment to be held private. Services are entrusted to Odessa Funeral Home.
Lydia I. Witcher
McCAMEY - Lydia I. Witcher, 88, of McCamey, and formerly of Grandfalls, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Odessa Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in McCamey with Reverend Earl Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Tamarisk cemetery in Grandfalls. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey.
Mrs. Witcher was born on November 14, 1917 in Cannon Falls, MN. She had been a resident of McCamey for 20 years. Lydia had moved to McCamey in 1985 from Grandfalls, where she had lived since 1947.
She was a member of the Union Church in Grandfalls, and had taught Sunday School for over 20 years there.
After moving to McCamey, she became a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Witcher on September 13, 1980.
Lydia is survived by two sons, Jimmy Witcher and his wife Mary of McCamey, and Robert Wayne Witcher of Abilene, Texas; a daughter, Janet R. Witcher of Odessa, TX; one brother, Don Otterness of Altamont, NY; two sisters, Myrtle Nord of Northfield, MN, and Edith Esterby of Cannon Falls, MN; two grandsons, John Witcher and his wife Betty of Raleigh, NC, and David Witcher and his wife Jennifer of Cypress, TX; three great grandchildren, Christy, J.P., and Michael Witcher, all of Raleigh, NC.
Pallbearers will be J.H. Bowden, J.D. Stocks, Jim Sears, David Wallace, Reverend Ted Creech, and Jack Phillips.
